Funeral for Annie Sue "Mommie" Gray, 92, of Decatur will be Tuesday at noon at Springhill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Z. Gray officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gray died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Sun Bridge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.She was born Jan. 24, 1907, in Morgan County, to Willie Wilson and Cynthia Minor Wilson.She was a the oldest member of Springhill Missionary Baptist Church, where she was affectionately known as "Mommie."She served in the church choir, mothers' board and the missionary society.She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Corrinda Chapter No. 97 of Hillsboro. She was the widow of Neeley L. Gray.

Mrs. Gray is survived by two sons, Walter H. Gray of Hillsboro and Council Gray of Bridgeport, Conn.; two daughters, Marian Carter of Decatur and Emma G. Jackson of Denver, Colo.; one stepson, Leo Gray of Decatur; one foster son, Carl Garth of Decatur; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Officers of her church will be pallbearers.

Grandsons will be honorary pallbearers.

Sydney Langley Huff
84, homemaker

Private graveside service for Sydney Langley Huff, 84, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Huntsville Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home.Mrs. Huff died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at her home.

She was born March 6, 1915, in Bowersville, Ga., to Alice and E.B. Langley. She was a homemaker.She is survived by her daughter, Merle Helms of Decatur; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Justin Wayne Kirby
42, farmer

MOULTON -- Funeral for Justin Wayne Kirby, 42, of Danville will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Mike Nix and Jason Macy officiating.

Burial will be in Enon Cemetery. The family will receive friends today 6 to 9 at the funeral home.Mr. Kirby died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, in Lawrence County.

He was born May 5, 1957, in Lawrence County.

He was a farmer and a member of Midway Church of Christ where he attended the young adult Sunday school class.

He is survived by his parents, Billy James Kirby and Raynell Stricklin Kirby of Danville; two sisters, Donna Kirby Montgomery of Moulton and Belinda Kay Kirby of Danville; and his paternal grandmother, Julia Kirby.

Joseph Nolan

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Joseph Nolan, 60, of Athens, who died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, will be announced by Limestone Funeral Home.

Eddie Lynn O'Malley
47, Delphi furnace operator

PULASKI -- Funeral for Eddie Lynn O'Malley, 47, of FrankEwing, Tenn., will be today at 2:30 p.m. at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Denton officiating.

Burial will be in New Zion Cemetery.

Mr. O'Malley died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, in Limestone County.

He was born March 11, 1952, in Giles County. He was employed by Delphi Saginaw Steering Systems as a furnace operator.

He is survived by his wife, Pat O'Malley; one son, Chris O'Malley of FrankEwing, Tenn.; two daughters, Karen O'Malley and Kim Adams, both of FrankEwing; his parents, William and Hilda O'Malley of FrankEwing; one brother, Robbie O'Malley of Pulaski, Tenn.; three sisters, Pat Owen and Penny Davis, both of Pulaski, and Connie Durham of FrankEwing; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Children's College Fund at the Bank of FrankEwing.

Leon Orr

HARTSELLE -- Funeral service for Leon Orr, 90, of Falkville, who died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Hartselle Medical Center, will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Complete arrangements will be announced.

ATHENS -- Funeral for James Arville Putman Jr., 56, of Athens will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Marks officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.Mr. Putman died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, in Lewisburg, Tenn. He was born Aug. 2, 1943, in Limestone County to James Arville Putnam and Lou Ruth Putnam.

He was a member of Blackburn Road Baptist Church and retired from Calhoun Community College where he worked as a carpenter.

He was the brother of the late Larry Putnam.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Putnam; one son, James Randall Putnam of Athens; two daughters, Melissa Lipinski and Mignon Thames, both of Athens; one stepson, Douglas Morgan of Athens; one stepdaughter, Sandra Lewis of Athens; one sister, Patricia Turner of Athens; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Putnam, Chad Putnam, Gary Grose, Jason Massey, Joshua Miller and Johnny Abernathy.

Iris Couch Walter

ARAB -- Funeral for Iris Couch Walter, 87, of Union Grove will be today at 3 p.m. at Rescue United Methodist Church with the Rev. Woodrow Harbin and Eli Eslick officiating.

Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery with Gober Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Walter died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born May 17, 1912, in Morgan County to Oscar Couch and Lula Black Couch. She was a homemaker and a member of Rescue United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Arab Senior Citizens Club.

She is survived by two sisters, Jewel Green haw of Union Grove and Dorothy Sejia of Huntsville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Minnie Laura Mitchell
90, grocery store owner

ATHENS -- Funeral for Minnie Laura Mitchell, 90, of Athens will be Friday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Bobby Turner and Glen Keenum officiating.

Burial will be in Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mitchell died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born Aug. 28, 1909, in Giles County, Tenn. She was a resident of Limestone County for most of her life and a member of Hobbs Street Church of Christ. She was the widow of Joe Mitchell, and they owned and operated Mitchell's Grocery in Athens for several years.

She is survived by five sons, Leon Mitchell, Billy Mitchell, Marion Mitchell, all of Athens, Ronald Mitchell of Kentucky and Harold Mitchell of Nashville; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Sandlin, Greg Steele, Mark Mitchell, David Mitchell, Ronnie Mitchell and Steve McConnaughhay.

Pearl Wilson Watkins
95, homemaker

DOTHAN -- Funeral for Pearl Wilson Watkins, 95, of Dothan will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Kent-Thornton Funeral Home with the Rev. John Clark officiating.

Burial will be at New Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 5 to 7.

Mrs. Watkins died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, at home. She was born Nov. 23, 1903, in Houston County to Robert Wilson and Mattie Roland Wilson. She was a lifetime resident of the area, a homemaker, and a member of New Providence Baptist Church for 79 years. She was the widow of Quay Watkins and the mother of the late Hancel, Lenard and Talmadge Watkins.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Watkins and Foster Watkins, both of Dothan; four daughters, Ruth Simpler of Dothan, Hazel Hardy of Decatur, Nellie Burnet of Stanton, Va., and Marie Keffer of Birmingham; one sister, Ruby Clark of Dothan; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons Daniel Stanley, Russ Hardy, Tim Watkins, Philip Smith, Chris Keffer and Kevin Keffer will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302, or to New Providence Cemetery Fund, 900 Providence Road, Dothan, AL 36301.

Mary Geneva Baldwin

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Mary Geneva Baldwin, 77, of Somerville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Somerville Church of God with the Rev. Pearl Jenkins and the Rev. Otto Yount officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Peck Funeral Home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Baldwin died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Morgan County to Challie Lee and Dixie Leona Hollaway Clemons. She was a member of the Somerville Church of God, owned and operated Baldwin Grocery Store in Somerville and was the widow of T.J. "Doc" Baldwin.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ann McClendon of Florette and Mary Jo Baldwin of Somerville; one brother, Thad B. Wright of Franklinton, La.; one sister, Linda Jarrrett of Centerpoint; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Michael Clemons, Jeff Clemons, Thad B. Wright, Mark McClendon, David McClendon and Lonnie Williams.
