Mary 'Frances' Herron

MOULTON -- Funeral for Mary "Frances" Herron, 70, of Hartselle will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Shelton and the Rev. Edward Tollison officiating.

Burial will be in Rock Springs Cemetery in Mount Hope. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Herron died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her daughter's home in Danville. She was born June 16, 1931, in Decatur, to Emmett Cowan and Maude Cowan. She was a homemaker and attended Dogwood Community Church in Decatur. Mrs. Herron was the widow of Clayton "Buck" Herron.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Herron and Ronnie Herron, both of Hartselle; one daughter, Linda Ann Harvey of Danville; one sister, Minnie Ruth Lawrence of Hartselle; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tim Lawrence, Ricky Hightower, Danny Porter, Dale McAbee, Roger Stephenson, Billy Davis and Randy Lawrence.

Clifford Holmes

HARTSELLE -- Clifford D. Holmes, 89, of Falkville died today, Feb. 1, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. Peck Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Shelia Denise Clopton Hague Jeffery

Funeral for Shelia Denise Clopton Hague Jeffery, 43, of Hillsboro will be Saturday at noon at Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Green e officiating.

Burial will be in Clopton Cemetery in Courtland with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Jeffery died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at her home. She was born July 18, 1958, in Akron, Ohio, to Tommy and Georgia Clopton. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Ohio. She worked at Jameson Inn.

Survivors include her parents of Hillsboro; two brothers, Reginald Clopton of Decatur and Tommy Clopton Jr. of Hillsboro.

Cousins will be pallbearers.

K. Steven Means

TUSCUMBIA -- Funeral for K. Steven Means, 47, of Muscle Shoals was to be today at 2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Harbin officiating.

Burial was to be in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Means died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, in Muscle Shoals. He was born August 8, 1954, in Muscle Shoals, to Kenneth Means and Anna Dean Means. He was a supervisor at Wise Aluminum and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia. Mr. Means served on the Muscle Shoals Planning Board for 12 years.

Survivors include one son, Ryan Means of Muscle Shoals; his parents of Muscle Shoals; and one brother, Terry Means, of Muscle Shoals. Pallbearers will be Earl McGuire, Johnny Faulkner, Tom Lepak, Tommy Patterson, Doug Harvey and Bill Means.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia Mission Fund, 103 E. Third St., Tuscumbia, AL 35674.

Adela R. Nava

ATHENS -- Funeral for Adela R. Nava, 49, of Athens will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with Jose Diaz officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church two hours before services.

Mrs. Nava died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 30, 1952, in Mexico to Anselmo Nava and Juana Roman Nava. She was a homemaker and a Jehovah's Witness.

Survivors include her husband, Evaristo Gonzalez of Tanner; seven sons, Raul Gonzalez of Oklahoma, Marcus Gonzalez of Mexico, Juan Carlos Gonzalez of California, and Miguel Angel Gonzalez, Guillermo Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez and Louis Angel Gonzalez, all of Athens; two daughters, Minerva Gonzalez and Elizabeth Gonzalez, both of Athens; her father of California; and one brother, Eufracio Nava of California.

Pallbearers will be Miguel A. Gonzalez, Evaristo Gonzalez, Bonifacio Gonzalez, Guillermo Gonzalez, Jesus Gonzalez and Erubiel Ocampo.

Samuel Wallace Powell

ATHENS -- Funeral for Samuel Wallace Powell, 66, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Clark officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Powell died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 13, 1935, in Dothan to R.G. Powell and Connie Deal Powell. He earned a doctorate at The University of Alabama and retired as a mathematician from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and as a professor from Athens State College. He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Dothan and Phi Beta Kappa national honor society.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Powell; five sons, Samuel Powell Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Michael Powell, Steven Powell and Patrick Powell, all of Athens, and Richard Powell of New Market; four daughters, Norma Stewart of Roswell, N.M., Kimberly Hargrove of Huntsville and Kristy Powell and Karen Jackson, both of Athens; two sisters, Mary Lou Shivley of High Point, N.C., and Lucille Culbreth of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and 20 grandchildren.

Marion Robinson Williams

Memorial service for Marion Robinson Williams, 66, of Decatur will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Newcomb Street Church of Christ with Doug Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Sterrs Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Williams died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born May 8, 1935, in Morgan County, to James Robinson and Millie Williams Robinson. She was a graduate of Decatur Negro High School and retired in 1988 from 3M Co., where she worked as a cook. She later worked as a part-time cook at Huntsville International Airport. She also was a volunteer caregiver for senior citizens and a member of Newcomb Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Calvin Wilson of Fayetteville, N.C.; three daughters, Cerissa Lewis, Susan Williams and Christine Robinson, all of Decatur; six brothers, James Robinson, Alphonso Robinson, Edward Robinson and Harold Robinson, all of Decatur, Joseph Robinson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Jerome Robinson of Fairfax, Va.; four sisters, Marjorie Lyons of Jamaica, N.Y., Georgia Adkins of Chicago, and Rita Cowley and Evett Collins, both of Decatur; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gail M. Allen
SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Funeral for Gail McCall Allen, 54, of Spartanburg, S.C., will be today at 11 a.m. at Word of Life with the Rev. Manning Strickland and the Rev. Ron Teal officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Rock Hill at 3 p.m.

Mrs. Allen died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at her home. She was born Oct. 13, 1947, in Brevard, N.C. to Ray McCall and Margaret Zachary McCall. She was a homemaker and a member of Word of Life. Mrs. Allen graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1965 and attended Winthrop College.

Survivors include her husband David M. Allen; one daughter, Laura A. Slade of Columbus, Ga.; one brother, Tim. R. McCall of Edgemore, S.C.; and one sister, Anne M. Love of Rock Hill, S.C.

Memorials may be made to Word of Life, 945 Canaan Road, Roebuck, S.C. 29376.

Linda Faye Hamley Amerson

ATHENS -- Funeral for Linda Faye Hamley Amerson, 58, of Elkmont will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Sandlin Road Church of Christ with Kasey Harbin officiating and Limestone Chapel Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church from 1 to 3 Sunday.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Amerson died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her home. She was born March 8, 1943, in Limestone County to Raymond and Lorene Hamley. She was a member of Sandlin Road Church of Christ. She was sister of the late James Hamley.

Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Amerson Sr.; two daughters, Vanessa K. Amerson and Valorie K. Dansby, both of Elkmont; one son, Robert E. Amerson Jr. of Elkmont; one sister, Annette Lewis of Elkmont; three brothers, Earl Hamley of Rome, Ga., Oliver Hamley and Larry Hamley, both of Huntsville; and four grandchildren.

The family requests that donations be made to the continual care of Mrs. Amerson's daughter, Vanessa.

Edgar 'Jimmy' Cottingham Jr.

TRINITY -- Funeral for Edgar Cottingham Jr., 80, of Hillsboro will be Sunday at Parkway Funeral Home with Homer Jones and Kenny Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in Blackground Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cottingham died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at NHC Healthcare Center. He was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Lawrence County to Edgar Cottingham and Lena Peoples Cottingham. He was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran. His military honors include a good conduct medal and the European, African, Middle Eastern service medals with one Silver Star and one Bronze Star.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Cottingham of Trinity and Donnie Cottingham of Hillsboro; three daughters, Kathy Pitt and Peggy Coffey, both of Hillsboro and Tammy Terry of Moulton; one stepson, Laveral Latham of Tennessee; three brothers, Paul Cottingham and Kenneth Cottingham, both of Courtland and William Cottingham of Decatur; five sisters, Jewel Kraut, Dolly Cottingham, Doris Cottingham, and Lillian Terry, all of Courtland and Maggie Harris of California; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Edna Ezell

ATHENS -- Edna Ezell, 86, of Athens died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her home. Spry Funeral Home will announce arrangements.

Carol Graves

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Carol Graves, 55, of Hartselle will be Sunday at 1:30 at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Vincent officiating.

Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Graves died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at her daughter's home in Athens. She was born July 7, 1946, in Morgan County to Edward Richards and Ruth Jarrett Richards. She attended Grace Bible Baptist Church in Hartselle.

Survivors include three sons, Billy Jack Graves of Hartselle and Joey Roan and Del Roan, both of Decatur; one daughter, Cindy Martin of Athens; one brother, Billy Richards of Hartselle; one sister, Shirley Draper of Hartselle; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will include Lance Martin, Glenn Hill, Ricky Hall, Randy McCrary, Billy Puckett, and Billy Martin.

Preston Ward Hall and Ethan Bryan Hall

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Preston Ward Hall and Ethan Bryan Hall, infant, twin sons of Bryan and Kimberly Ward Hall of Hartselle, will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mount Zion Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Alread officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Preston died Jan. 17, 2002 at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham and Ethan died Jan. 31, 2002 at UAB Hospital.

Survivors include their parents; grandparents, Kenneth Wayne and Faye Ward of Hartselle, and Brenda Puckett Hall of Hartselle and Preston Hall Jr. and Brenda Hall of Hartselle; great-grandparents, Lucille Jackson of Moulton, Preston and Ruby Hall of Hartselle and Gurthie Puckett of Decatur.

Clifford D. Holmes

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Clifford D. Holmes, 88, of Falkville will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Phillip Hines officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2:30 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Holmes died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 14, 1913, in Morgan County to Walter Dunlap and Lena Dunlap. She was a Methodist and was a retired sales clerk and homemaker.

Survivors include one sister, Carmaleta Cryer of Meridianville.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Annie Ruth Bledsoe Malone

Funeral for Annie Ruth Bledsoe Malone, 46, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pentecostal House of Prayer with the Rev. Joe H. Cater officiating and Sharpley Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Springhill Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home.

Ms. Malone died Jan. 29, 2002 at her home. She was born May 13, 1955 in Morgan County to Henry and Margaret Bledsoe. She worked as a floater for Aramark. She was sister of the late Mozella Watkins.

Survivors include one daughter, Angela Bledsoe of Decatur; seven sisters, Lottie Toney and Katherine Cooper, both of Decatur, Lillie Bledsoe of Chattanooga, Ardelia Tisdale of Green brier, Olivia Bledsoe of Athens, and Golden Grizzard and Annie D. Wallace of Madison; six brothers, Willie Bledsoe of Montgomery, Henry Bledsoe of Cleveland, Ohio, Jimmy Bass and Howard Harris, both of Decatur, David Bass of Nashville and Herbert Harris of Green brier.

Nephews will be pallbearers.
