Dorothy Mae Terry McKay

TRINITY -- Funeral for Dorothy Mae Terry McKay, 78, of Trinity will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. C.G. Reding, Rev. Johnny Huey and Chaplain Harry Moody officiating and Parkway Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McKay died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center. She was born May 24, 1923, in Lawrence County to Eulas Thurman Terry and Allie Fuller Terry. She was a member of Enon Baptist and she was retired from Lawrence County Hospital.

She was wife of the late John W. McKay and sister of the late Eulas Fuller Terry and Paul Terry.

Survivors include two sons, John P. McKay of Trinity and Terry W. McKay of Priceville; two daughters, Mary E. Howard of Decatur and Melba J. Moody of Oakville; one brother, Neal Terry of Trinity; one sister, Linnie Thomas of Morgan City; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Moody, Christopher McKay, Carr McKay, Andrew McKay, Jim Demore, Keith Riddle and Scott Terry.

Dovie Pearl Murphree

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Dovie Pearl Murphree, 92, of Cullman will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Enon Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Brown officiating and Moss Service Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Murphree died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Woodland Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 9, 1909, in Eva to Walker C. Holmes and Ida Ray Holmes. She was widow of Ervin Murphree, mother of the late Aubrey Murphree and sister of the late Cloia Brown, Leva Marlow and Fritz Holmes.

Survivors include one daughter, Audrey Hartwig of Cullman; one brother, Cecil Holmes of Pontiac, Mich.; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Walter Tom Perry

A private memorial service for Walter Tom Perry, 60, of Danville will be announced.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 at Roselawn Funeral Home.

Mr. Perry died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Lewisburg, Tenn., to John Frank Perry and Rachel Cherry Perry. He was retired from Kroger after 30 years, and he worked for Wal-Mart in Decatur. His constant companion was his dog, Banjo.

Survivors include his wife, Diann Perry; one daughter, Tammy Perry Dobbs of Boaz; two sons, Steven Perry of Toney and David Scott Perry of Huntsville; his mother of Shelbyville, Tenn.; two brothers, Lewis Perry of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. and Raymond Perry of Shelbyville; two sisters, Sandra Perry and Louise Farler, both of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Samuel Wallace Powell

ATHENS -- Funeral for Samuel Wallace Powell, 66, of Athens will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. J.W. Clark officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Powell died Jan. 31, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 13, 1935, in Dothan to Archie Powell and Connie Powell. He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Dothan. Mr. Powell received a doctorate degree from the University of Alabama and was retired from NASA and Athens State University. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Powell; five sons, Samuel Powell Jr. of Tuscaloosa, Michael Powell, Steven Powell and Patrick Powell, all of Athens and Richard Powell of New Market; four daughters, Norma Stewart of Roswell, N.M., Kimberly Hargrove of Huntsville, Kristy Powell and Karen Jackson, all of Athens; two sisters, Mary Lou Shivley of High Point, N.C. and Lucille Culbreth of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and 20 grandchildren.

Bennie Mae Roberts

Funeral for Bennie Mae Roberts, 84, of Madison will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Ridout's-Brown Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Taylor and Rev. Jim Legg officiating.

Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 4 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Roberts died Jan. 31, 2002, at Madison County Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. She was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Limestone County to John W. Henderson and Cora Johnson Henderson. She was a Baptist.

She was wife of the late James Marvin Roberts.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Lou Abbott of Houghton Lake, Mich. and Alma Jean Wilson of Camden, Tenn.; one brother, G.W. Henderson of Madison; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Thomas Junior Smith

ARDMORE -- Funeral for Thomas Junior Smith, 60, of Elkmont will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Taylor-Ardmore Funeral Home with Don Osborne and Robert Hill officiating.

Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died Tursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born April 19, 1941, in Thatch to Owen Smith and Renner McCluskey Smith. He worked for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for more than 33 years. He was father of the late Curtis Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Linda M. Smith; one daughter, Angie King of Athens; two sons, Mike Smith and Matthew Smith, both of Toney; two sisters, Terra Harris and Dessie Turner, both of Elkmont; one brother, Edward Smith of Athens; four grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.

Caldwell C. 'Bick' Bickel
HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral for Caldwell C. "Bick" Bickel, 82, of Huntsville will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Bickel died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, in Huntsville. He was born July 1, 1919, in Kentucky. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky Engineering School and a member of the school's alumni association. He was a retired mechanical engineer from Redstone Arsenal and a member of Willowbrook Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Flora Miller Bickel; two daughters, Sandra Bickel Martin of Montgomery and Paula Bickel Angle of Huntsville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Willowbrook Baptist Church for its Reaching People fund.

Edgar 'Jimmy' Cottingham Jr.

TRINITY -- Funeral for Edgar Cottingham Jr., 80, of Hillsboro will be today at 2 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Homer Jones and Kenny Rodgers officiating.

Burial will be in Blackground Cemetery.

Mr. Cottingham died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, at NHC Healthcare Center. He was born Dec. 15, 1921, in Lawrence County to Edgar Cottingham and Lena Peoples Cottingham. He was a retired farmer and a World War II veteran. His military honors include a good conduct medal and the European, African, Middle Eastern service medals with one Silver Star and one Bronze Star.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Cottingham of Trinity and Donnie Cottingham of Hillsboro; three daughters, Kathy Pitt and Peggy Coffey, both of Hillsboro and Tammy Terry of Moulton; one stepson, Laveral Latham of Tennessee; three brothers, Paul Cottingham and Kenneth Cottingham, both of Courtland and William Cottingham of Decatur; five sisters, Jewel Kraut, Dolly Cottingham, Doris Cottingham, and Lillian Terry, all of Courtland and Maggie Harris of California; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Ruby Edna Cole Ezell

Funeral for Ruby Edna Cole Ezell, 86, of Athens will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Bob White officiating.

Burial will be in Dement Cemetery.

Mrs. Ezell died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Limestone County to Frank and Rachel Cole. She was retired from ConAgra and was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Hansel "Bill" Ezell of Athens; two sisters, Thelma Hooper of Athens and Lucille Griffin of Vernon, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Frankie Ezell, Martin Ezell, Pat Kilpatrick, Ray Garrett, Danny Ausley, Richard McElyea and Austin Ezell.

Joyce Chambers Graham

KENTUCKY -- Funeral for Joyce Chambers Graham, 65, of Russellville will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, Ky., with Sam Velo officiating.

Burial will be in Union Town Cemetery in Kentucky.

Ms. Graham died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 at Russellville Hospital. She was born in Morganfield.

Survivors include one nephew, Ronnie Smith of Mount Hope; two nieces, Patti McDuffa and Joan Bolton, both of Russellville; two great-nieces, Lyndi McDuffa and Syndey McDuffa, both of Russellville; and two great-nephews, Evan Bolton and Corey Bolton, both of Russellville.

Charles Wesley Holmes

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Charles Wesley Holmes, 51, of Eva was Saturday at 3 p.m. at Eva United Methodist Church with the Rev. Chuck Hanvey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Holmes died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born March 3,1950, in Cullman County to Leslie Eugene Holmes and Lizzie Averine Holmes. He was a member of Eva United Methodist Church and a former teacher for the Morgan County School system. He was father of the late Erica Leighann Holmes.

Survivors include his wife, Marcella S. Holmes; one son, Nathan Holmes of Eva; one daughter, Devin Holmes of Eva; one brother, Joel Holmes of Eva; two sisters, Jean Grimes of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Teresa Hudson of Decatur.

Asbury Bouldin 'Bo' McWilliams

ATHENS -- Graveside service for Asbury Bouldin "Bo" McWilliams, 84, of Athens will be today at 3 p.m. at Athens City Cemetery with Jason Moore officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing.

Mr. McWilliams died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison. He was born Oct. 20, 1917, in Limestone County to Asbury B. McWilliams Sr. and Daisy Cole McWilliams. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Athens and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired salesman.

Survivors include two nieces, Ann Wood Crutcher of Athens and Pat Wood Thornton of Decatur.

Memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Selma.

Mildred Lucille Owens

ARAB -- Funeral for Mildred Lucille Owens, 85, of Union Grove will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Morgan City Church of God with the Rev. Duane Spanogle officiating and Arab-Heritage Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Owens died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1916, in Morgan County to Charlie Maples and Lee Johnson Maples. She was a member of Morgan City Church of God and a homemaker. She and her husband were married for 67 years.

Survivors include her husband, Julian Wilson Owens; one daughter, Sue Oden of Union Grove; two sons, Billy Owen of Michigan and Bryant Owen of North Carolina; two brothers, Melvin Maples and Robert Maples, both of Somerville; one sister, Helen Sallee of Ohio; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Larry Bernard Reed

Memorial Service for Larry Bernard Reed, 34, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. Wylheme Ragland officiating.

Mr. Reed died Jan. 26, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Florida. He was born Oct. 17, 1967, in New York to John Reed and Ann Fitzgerald Reed. He was a member of King's Memorial United Methodist Church when he lived in Decatur.

Survivors include his mother of Decatur; two brothers, Michael Reed and John Reed III, both of Decatur; two sisters, Charloette Wilson and Paula Moody, both of Decatur; and his step-grandmother Mattie Reed of Decatur.

Memorials may be made to King's Memorial building fund.
