Tessie Mary Lee Bullington
ATHENS -- Funeral for Tessie Mary Lee Bullington, 90, of Athens will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jessie Littrell, the Rev. Richard Clinard and the Rev. Greg Ledbetter officiating.

Burial will be in Evans Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bullington died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1911, in Limestone County to Billy Hathcoat and Lizzie Phillips Hathcoat. She was a homemaker and a member of West Highland Baptist Church. She was the widow of Johnnie Bullington.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Gene Bullington of Lafayette, La., and Bobby Ray Bullington of Fort Wayne, Ind.; three daughters, Betty Wayne Clouse of Poolesville, Md., and Brenda Sue Everette and Beverly Jo McGee, both of Athens; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and granddaughters will be pallbearers.

Robert Frances Jones

ATHENS -- Robert Frances Jones, 87, of Athens died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at his home.

Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Survivors include one nephew, Donald A. Merkle of Chicago; one niece, Dorothy Head of Athens; and two great-nieces.

Mary Virginia Jones

PULASKI, Tenn. -- Funeral for Mary Virginia Jones, 76, of Goodsprings, Tenn., will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Booth Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Maury Regional Hospital in Columbia, Tenn. She was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Lester to Robert and Lovonia Townsend McMullins. She was retired from Lee Mar Shirt Company and Wear Well Knit. She was the widow of Thomas C. Jones and the mother of the late Jerry Jones.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Jones of Lester; one daughter, Joyce Harris of Goodsprings, Tenn.; one step-daughter, Marcelle Hughes of Goodsprings, Tenn.; two sisters, Beatrice Carwile and Eleanor McMullins, both of Minor Hill, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Manness 'Mickey' Kirkland

ATHENS -- Funeral for Manness "Mickey" Kirkland, 66, of Athens will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Lackey and the Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Kirkland died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born Oct. 30, 1935, in Pensacola, Fla., to John Manness Kirkland and Bess Taylor Kirkland.

He retired as administrative services officer at Limestone Correctional Facility. He was former director of the North Alabama Skills Center in Huntsville and the Birmingham Area Skills Center. He was a basketball official for the Alabama High School Athletic Association and the local church league. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Blanche Baker Kirkland; three sons, John Michael Kirkland of Atlanta, Mark Taylor Kirkland of Tuscaloosa and Max Randall Kirkland of Madison; and three grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Billy Ward, Frankie Deemer, Jerry Franks, Bobby Wood, Brownie Nelson, Dave Sexton, Reggie Britt and Tommy Russell.

Deacons of First Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Big Oak Ranch, Baptist Children's Home and Prison Hope Ministry.

Jewell Crawford Knight

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Jewell Crawford Knight, 91, of Falkville will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Falkville First Baptist Church with the Rev. R.E. Glaze and the Rev. Jack Lovelace officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 until 1:50 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Knight died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 24, 1910, in Morgan County to Joseph Alexander Crawford and Nannie Gertrude Stewart Crawford.

She was a member of Falkville First Baptist Church. She was a retired elementary school teacher who worked for the Morgan County School System for more than 20 years.

Survivors include her husband, John E. Knight; one son, John E. Knight, Jr. of Decatur; one sister, Gladys Summerford of Atlantic Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be C.A. Blevins, Wayne Coots, Joe Edmondson, Kenneth Richards, Ray Richards, Roy Richards and Dr. James Walker.

Memorials may be made to Falkville First Baptist Church.

John Ed Lane Sr.

ATHENS -- Funeral for John Ed Lane Sr., 74, of Athens will be Saturday at noon at Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church in Lester, with the Rev. Thomas Gaines officiating.

Burial will be in Polly Malone Cemetery in Tanner, with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Lane died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. He was born July 29, 1927, in Limestone County to Tom Ed Lane Sr. and Cora Lane. He was retired as a brick mason and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Lane was the widower of Mary Gilbert Lane and the brother of the late Jimmy Lane and Tom Lane Jr.

Survivors include six sons, Sam Lane, John Lane Jr., Curtis Lane, Percy Lane and Ray Lane, all of Athens, and John Wayne Shoulders of Nolensville, Tenn.; five daughters, Johnnye Jones, Barbara Cosby, Wanda Nance and Regina Martin, all of Athens, and Sharon Lane of Chattanooga; five sisters, Annie Woods and Louise Barbee, both of Athens, and Georgia Parks, Nellie Norton and Bettye Lane, all of Nashville; 26 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Ernest A. McLemore

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Ernest A. McLemore, 93, of Danville will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with Larry Pahman and Richard Sports officiating.

Burial will be in Aldridge Grove Cemetery in Lawrence County. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. McLemore died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Aug. 28, 1908, in Lawrence County to Jim McLemore and Minnie Dodd McLemore. He was a member of Danville Church of Christ. He was a longtime farmer in Lawrence County.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth E. McLemore; one son, James W. "Jr." Dutton of Tampa, Fla.; four daughters, Nellie Hill of Mt. Olive, Teen Dobbins of Hartselle, Betty Moore of Danville and Dorothy Tucker of Moulton; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jamey Dobbins, Johnny Dobbins, Mike Dutton, Clayton Hill Jr., Frankie Moore and Timothy Tucker.

Evelyn Miller Meadway

Funeral for Evelyn Miller Meadway, 69, of Decatur will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Arch L. Heady Cralle and Neurath Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky.

Burial will be in Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville, Ky. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home, and again Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kentucky funeral home.

Mrs. Meadway died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at her residence. She was born Sept. 2, 1932, in Anchorage, Ky., to Edwin H. Miller and Thelma Simpson Miller. Mrs. Meadway was a member of First United Methodist Church and The Heart of Dixie Orchid Society. She was the widow of the late Raymond Elmer "Red" Meadway.

Survivors include one sister, Donna Miller Ruble of Bowling Green , Ky.

Pearlie Viola Patterson

ATHENS -- Funeral for Pearlie Viola Patterson, 82, of Talladega and formerly of Athens, will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Fred Lackey and the Bobby Turner officiating.

Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patterson died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, in Talladega. She was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Lauderdale County to Sam Chambers and Maggie Hammonds Chambers. She was a retired lunchroom worker from Piney Chapel School. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Ray Patterson of Athens and Jimmy Patterson of Alabaster; two sisters, Bertha Howard of Athens and Jane Worley of Madison; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Dana Pitts

Funeral for Dana Pitts, 24, of Decatur will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Mark Tolbert and the Rev. Pat Brock officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Ms. Pitts died today, Feb. 8, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1977. She was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Survivors include her mother, Berna Ruth Pitts of Decatur; one brother, Danny Pitts of Port Sulpher, La.; and one sister, Jena Willis of Altona.

Neil Aldridge Smith

Funeral for Neil Aldridge Smith, 65, of Decatur was to be today at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Reding and Buddy Simmons officiating.

Burial was to be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born May 18, 1936, in Lawrence County to Porter Smith and Sellie Terry Smith. He lived in Courtland most of his life and retired from Fruehauf. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church. He was the brother of the late G.C. Smith.

Survivors include his mother of Decatur; two brothers, Felton Smith of Decatur and Don Smith of Moulton; and four sisters, Opal Anderson of Columbia, Tenn., Doris Aldridge of Trinity, Anelia Faye Smith of Oneonta and Merion Hutton of Decatur.

Pallbearers were to include Jamie Aldridge, Roland Anderson, Kenny Anderson, Chad Hutton, Jason Smith, Mickey Smith and Randy Smith.

Evelyn Morris Speake

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Evelyn Morris Speake, 86, of Inman, S.C., and formerly of Danville, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Penn officiating.

Burial will be in the Speake Family Cemetery at Valley Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Speake died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, S.C. She was born March 26, 1915, in Morgan County to Andrew Jackson Morris and Martha Emma Ward Morris. She retired as a schoolteacher from the Morgan County School System where she worked 35 years.

She was the sister of the late Lonnie Morris, Luther Morris, Jim Morris, Richard Morris, Claudie Morris, Lillie Kirkpatrick, Pallie Parker and Ellen Hogan.

Survivors include one son, Lovick Gary Fowler of Spartanburg; one brother, Thurman Morris of Hartselle; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jack Summerford, Robert Morris, Charles Parker, James Orr, Alfred Prater and Don Blankenship.

Elvie Terry

MOULTON -- Funeral for Elvie Terry, 87, of Moulton will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Moulton Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Wood officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Terry died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Lawrence County to Lawrence Terry and Alice Halbrooks Terry. Mr. Terry was retired as an inspecting officer from the Lawrence County Health Department, and was a member of Moulton Baptist Church, where he was a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Corene Terry; two sons, Stencil Terry and Howell Terry, both of Moulton; four grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gemar Cross, Bill Watson, Dale Terry, Scott Terry, Carl Posey, Caroll Hill, James Byars, and Buford Bowman.

The senior Sunday School class of Moulton Baptist Church will be honorary pallbearers.
