Leroy Jake Hunt

TANNER -- Funeral for Leroy Jake Hunt, 83, of Athens will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Kingdom Way Christian Center with the Rev. Lareese Howell officiating with Peoples Funeral Home directing.

A graveside service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Woodland Cemetery at Paducah, Ky., with Pettus Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Hunt died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Kentucky to Willie Hunt and Ethel Hunt.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was the widower of Rose M. Hunt and the father of the late Cathy Folie and the late Gloria Young.

Survivors include three sons, the Rev. Roderick Howell of Athens, the Rev. Lareese Howell of Fairburn, Ga., and the Rev. Anthony Howell of Atlanta; two daughters, Sandra Mason and Regina Howell, both of Brooklyn, N.Y; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

J.H. Johnson

Funeral for J.H. Johnson, 76, of Decatur will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Irvin Himmel and Gary Patton officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Hartselle Medical Center. He was born June 22, 1925, in Morgan County to Lee Johnson and Ida Dixie Hendon Johnson. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. He retired from the United States Postal Service.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Bowling Johnson; one brother, Paul Johnson of Hartselle; and one sister, Nannie Campbell of Hartselle.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Earlie Jasper Jones

GADSDEN -- Funeral for Earlie Jasper Jones, 82, of Gadsden was to be today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. George Y. Williams, the Rev. Lister Hall and the Rev. Larry Fuhrman officiating.

Burial was to be in Crestwood Cemetery with Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Jones died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Riverview Regional Medical Center. He was born June 12, 1919, in Clay County to Ulio Iulos Jones and Bertha Smith Jones. He graduated from Opp High School in 1939, where he lettered in football. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1940 to 1945 in the Second Armored Division Signal Corps. He received a Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. He graduated from the Latin American Institute Import-Export Management Program in Chicago in 1949 and was in the insurance business for 45 years. He began his career with Commonwealth Life Insurance Co. in Birmingham and retired from Life Insurance Co. of Alabama in 1995. He served as a special agent, debit agent, agency manager and agency vice president. He was a member of the Alabama Association of Life Underwriters and the Gadsden Association of Life Underwriters, for which he served as secretary for 27 years. He was awarded the Life Underwriter of the Year for Alabama in 1994. He qualified 16 times for the National Quality Award.

Mr. Jones served as Brotherhood Director for the Etowah Baptist Association for 16 years. He was director of the Etowah County Jail Ministry for 32 years. He was a lifetime member of the Salvation Army, a charter member of the Etowah County Food Bank, a board member for United Cerebral Palsy, past chaplain of the Whorton Bend Fire Department and past president of the Whorton Bend Community Service. He was the brother of the late Gordon Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Odom Jones; two sons, John Paul Jones of Peachtree City, Ga., and Randall Earlie Jones of Guntersville; three daughters, Dianne Jones Ashley and Paulette Jones Greer, both of Gadsden, and Remona Jones Roberson of Decatur; two brothers, Dr. Charles Jones of Montgomery and James Jones of Andalusia; one sister, June Smith of Lacey's Spring; and 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Al Ashley, David Greer, Vance Roberson, Jason Jones, Joshua Jones, Phillip Jones and Henry Jones.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Etowah County Food Bank.

Robert Lewis Moore

Funeral for Robert Lewis Moore, 61, of Hillsboro will be Wednesday at noon at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Merriweather officiating.

Burial will be in Flower Hill Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mr. Moore died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2002, at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1940, in Morgan County to Guy Moore and Cora Lee Horton Moore. He worked in maintenance for Daniel Construction Co.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Ester Moore; two sons, Robert Moore Jr. and James Lee Moore, both of Hillsboro; one daughter, Margie Jones of Decatur; one brother, John T. Moore of Hillsboro; four sisters, Lizzie Moore Bates of Bridgeport, Conn., Katie Berry of Louisville, Ky., Ophelia Cooper of Nashville and Sally Mae Elberheart of Chattanooga; two stepsons, William Elliott of Decatur and Thomas James Elliott of Hillsboro; and his mother of Hillsboro.

Family members will be pallbearers.

Billy Belew Morgan

PRICEVILLE -- Funeral for Billy Belew Morgan, 72, of Hartselle will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Priceville Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Shoal Creek Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Morgan died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Morgan County to Tom Morgan and Sarah Morgan. He was a member of the Pentacostal faith. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include nephews James Morgan and Wayne Morgan, both of Hartselle; and three nieces, Willie Hyatt of Hartselle, Betty West of Somerville and Linda Cranfield of Falkville.

Divolia Orr

Funeral for Divolia Orr, 79, of Danville will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Camp Ground Providence Baptist Church with the Rev. Maxwell Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Camp Ground Cemetery with Sharpley Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before services.

Mrs. Orr died Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at Carraway Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham. She was born May 5, 1922, in Morgan County to Charlie Orr and Fannie Morris Orr. She was a homemaker and the mother of the late Annie Mae Orr.

Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Orr of Tuscaloosa; and one brother, Wallace Orr of Danville.

Nephews will be pallbearers.

Sarah Francis Davis Reeves

ATHENS -- Funeral for Sarah Francis Davis Reeves, 90, of Athens will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Smith, the Rev. Greg Lauderback and the Rev. Doug McCurry officiating.

Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Reeves died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born Jan. 8, 1912, in Limestone County to James William Davis and Eula Hurde Davis.

She was a retired nurse and a member of West Highland Baptist Church. She was the widow of Henry "Buck" Reeves.

Survivors include two daughters, Reda Smith of Athens and Lynda Evans of Anderson; two sisters, Evelyn Craig and Irene Bland, both of Columbia, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Stan Smith, Benny Evans, James Phillips, Joel Smith, Josh Smith and Trey Evans.

Ruby Lee Salas

MOULTON -- Funeral for Ruby Lee Salas, 83, of Moulton, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Steelman officiating.

Burial will be in Penney Cemetery in Hillsboro. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Salas died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born May 16, 1918, in South Carolina, and was retired as a supervisor from Flexoglass in Dixon, Ill. She was a Baptist and the widow of Robert Salas.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Salas of LaBelle, Fla., and Jay Salas of Decatur; one daughter, Betty Keenan of Trinity; four granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jay Salas, Bob Salas, Bryan Salas, Nicholas Salas, Edward Kelly and Wesley Logston.

Billy V. Smith

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Billy V. Smith, 69, of Florette, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home.

Burial will be in New Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 5 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith died today, Feb. 19, 2002, at Summerford Nursing Home.

The funeral home will announce complete arrangements.

Alonzo Tribble

ATHENS -- Funeral for Alonzo Tribble, 79, of Athens will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Noel Hayes and the Rev. Malcolm Andrews officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before services at the funeral home.

Mr. Tribble died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born July 20, 1922, in Limestone County to H.T. "Hop" Tribble and Bertha Mae Morris Tribble.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired as a crane operator from Wolverine Tube. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was the brother of the late Irene Tribble Cole, the late Carlos Dean Tribble and the late Billy Don Tribble.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Tribble; two sons, Mike Tribble of Mocksville, N.C., and Ronnie Tribble of Athens; two brothers, Morris Tribble of Madison and Clifford Ray Tribble of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Earlene Hayes of Grant and Joyce Abernathy of Vero Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Tribble, Larry Tribble, Jim Cole, Billy Roberts, Perry Hayes and Dural Freeman.

Margaret Jerusha Eversole

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Margaret Jerusha Eversole, 82, of Eva will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery in Zanesville, Ohio. Peck Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Eversole died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at her home. She was born Sept. 20, 1919, in Zanesville to James Urban Dick and Rillia Reatha Denney Dick. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine and lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. She was the widow of Robert Eversole.

Survivors include one sister, Lucy Mae Burkhard of Vicksburg, Miss.

Evelyn Vinona Grinfin

ATHENS -- Funeral for Evelyn Vinona Grinfin, 88, of Athens will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Nickey Pressnell and Bud White officiating.

A graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 6 to 8 at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Grinfin died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at her home. She was born July 21, 1913, in Tiro, Ohio, to Orveal Swartz and Matilda Nave Swartz. She was a homemaker and a member of Northside Church of Christ. She was the widow of Walter J. Grinfin, the mother of the late James Grinfin and the grandmother of the late Donald Holmes.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Bloodworth of Athens and Nona Holmes of Decatur; one sister, Gladys Aker of Mission, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Larry Shipley, Chris Pressnell, Ottie Newson, Randy Wright, Jerry Hall and Tommy Coblentz.

Lonnie W. Johnson

MOULTON -- Funeral for Lonnie W. Johnson, 95, of Moulton will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Goodlet and the Rev. Steve Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Mem- ory Gardens with Masonic rites. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson died at home Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002. He was born March 2, 1906, in Colbert County, and was retired as a school bus driver for Hatton schools. He was scoutmaster of Hatton Boy Scout Troop No. 224 for 18 years, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 6 for 54 years. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Moulton Chapter No. 412, and was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Dale Johnson of Decatur; two daughters, Wanda Lee Whitley of Smyrna, Tenn., and Doris Jones of Moulton; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Deral Posey, Jarrod "Jody" Jones, Sedrick Johnson, Keith Terry, Billy Wayne White, Joel Owens, Gary Steadmon and Randall Steadmon.
