Marvin Ray Bolzle

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Marvin Ray Bolzle, 58, of Cullman was to be today at noon at Williams-McCracken Funeral Home with the Rev. J.T. Farmer and the Rev. Samuel Tucker officiating.

Burial was to be in Lawrence Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Bolzle died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1941, in Cullman. He was the son of the late Fred Bolzle.

He was employed by Williams-McCracken Funeral Home as an attendant.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Humphries Bolzle; one son, Larry R. Bolzle of Cullman; his mother, Myrtice Tucker Bolzle of Cullman; and one brother, Larry William Bolzle of Decatur.

Joseph O'Neal Cardwell
76, World War II, Korean War veteran

Funeral for Joseph O'Neal Cardwell, 76, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. R.A. VanLandingham officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cardwell died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at his home. He was born April 11, 1923, in Elmore County to Marshall and Cora Lee Thornton Cardwell. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was a retired production controller for the U.S. Army Missile Command. He was a Methodist.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Cardwell; two sons, Joe Cardwell and Alan Cardwell, both of Decatur; one daughter, Gwen Dean of Decatur; one sister, Dean Lewis of Wetumpka; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Allen Dean, Nick Casciano, Glenn Lewis, Fred Mace, Donnie Wilkins and A.C. Turner.

Amos Scott Cartee
20, construction worker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Amos Scott Cartee, 20, of Moulton will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Stewart officiating.

Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Cartee died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, in Moulton. He was born Sept. 13, 1979, in Morgan County.

A construction worker, he was the grandson of the late Erdean Cartee.

He is survived by his father, Amos Paul Cartee of Moulton; his mother, Patsy Williams Naylor of Moulton; two brothers, Jesse Dalton of Moulton and Johnathon Farley of Decatur; two sisters, Felicia Naylor and Sha McConnell, both of Moulton; and his grandparents, Paul Cartee of Moulton, George and Etta Williams and Donna Holt, all of Decatur, Jesse Lott of Hartselle and Leon Tulley Williams of Georgia.

Pallbearers will be Jason Cartee, Jerome Theodore, Jamie Culver, Justin Dutton, Robbie Short and Tad Green .

Maggie Craft Elliott
72, homemaker

Funeral for Maggie Craft Elliott, 72, of Decatur, will be Wednesday at noon at Oakland United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Ragland officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The body will be in the church one prior to the service.

Mrs. Elliott died Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, at her home. She was born Feb. 15, 1927 in Limestone County to James T. Craft and Lucy Hobbs Craft. She was the widow of Charles H. Elliott.

She was a member Oakland United Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary and as president of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three sons, Melvin Thomas Hill III of Zanesville, Ohio, the Rev. Franklin A. Elliott and Dennis L. Elliott, both of Decatur; one daughter, Bonita Williams of Chicago; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Allen, Stanley Martin, Charles Owens, Eddie Miller, Melvin Thomas Hill, and Wilson Mays.

George T. Hammond
74, retired loan officer

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for George T. Hammond, 74, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Hoover and Rev. Calvin Inman officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.

Mr. Hammond died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at his home. He was born Nov. 26, 1925, in Lauderdale County to Robert Lee and Mary Alice Bergin Hammond. He was a member of East Highland Baptist Church and was a deacon and organizer of the church. He was a retired loan control officer of First National Bank of Decatur.

He is survived by one son, Thomas G. Hammond of Decatur; one brother, Robert L. Hammond of Florence; one sister, Annie M. Pettus of Hartselle; and two grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Paul Wallace, Patrick Pettus, Art Glasgow, Lee Hammond, David Hammond and Don Pettus.

Sarah Summerford Long

HARTSELLE -- Funeral arrangements for Sarah Summerford Long, 90, of Falkville, who died today, Dec. 27, 1999, at her home, will be announced by Peck Funeral Home.

Addie Mae McCoy

Funeral arrangements for Addie Mae McCoy, 72, of Decatur, who died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Huntsville, will be announced by Reynolds Funeral Home.

Shirley C. McPherson

Funeral arrangements for Shirley C. McPherson, 62, of Decatur, who died today, Dec. 27, 1999, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital will be announced by Shelton Funeral Home.

Raymond Elmer 'Red' Meadway
81, retired engineer

Funeral services for Raymond Elmer "Red" Meadway, 81, of Decatur, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky., with local arrangements by Rose-lawn Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Valley Cemetery in Taylorsville, Ky. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home. There will also be visitation on Tuesday from 6 to 8 at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Meadway died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Sunbridge Care Center in Decatur. He was born Dec. 20, 1918, to Ruth Weston and Elmer Charles Meadway in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from General Electric Co. in Decatur, after serving 35 years.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur. He was a member of American Legion Post 15 in Decatur and past commander of American Legion Post 771 in Erie, Pa.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn Miller Meadway; three sons, Robert Meadway and Raymond Meadway, both of Louisville, and John Meadway of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, Suzanne Brown of Danville, Ky., Mindy Kreis of Denver, Colo., and Lori McDonald of Louisville; one brother, Bob Meadway of Canton, Ohio; one sister, Donna Mae Wilson of Erie, Pa.; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be grandsons. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Rev. Jerry Ottis Oden
53, Vietnam veteran

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Rev. Jerry Ottis Oden, 53, of Eva was to be today at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. Harlon Hood and Rev. Tim Kinney officiating.

Burial was to be in Oden Ridge Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Oden died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Cullman County to Ottis and Flora Nelson Oden. He was pastor of West Point Baptist Church in Somerville and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was the father of the late Mark Oden.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Patton Oden; one son, Michael Oden of Madison; one daughter, Michelle Oden Talor of Madison; his parents of Robertsdale; and one brother, Allen Oden of Foley.

Pallbearers will be Allen Oden, Bobby Patton, Jeff Henderson, Lafett Hendrix, David Mangum, Quentin Hendrix and Lewis Cornett.

Walter Lee Brakefield
85, World War II veteran
ATHENS -- Funeral for Walter Lee Brakefield, 85, of Athens will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Everett Conn officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mr. Brakefield died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at his home. He was born Aug. 20, 1914. He was a member of Market Street Church of Christ and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Brakefield; one daughter, Shela B. Wales Smith of Athens; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ben Pettus, Steve Pettus, Roger Sanderson, Milton Looney, George Brakefield, Grady Spence, Tom Dunnivant and Ben Chandler.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Athens-Limestone County.
