ATHENS -- Funeral for Ruth Crooks, 69, of Athens will be Wednesday at noon at People's Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Rice officiating.

Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery.

Mrs. Crooks died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She was born June 6, 1930, in Limestone County to Tom and Ara Wright. She retired as a nurse from Limestone Health Facility and was a member of Antioch Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America.

She is survived by her husband, David Crooks; four sons, Lolis Crooks of Decatur, Carlton Crooks and Steven Crooks, both of Athens, and Terrance Crooks of North Carolina; two daughters, Althea Stanley of Athens and Tamara Crooks of Minneapolis; three sisters, Willie Louise Moore of Athens and Susie Mae Harris and Lorrine Phillips, both of Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Austie Gibson
89, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Austie Gibson, 89, of Denver will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Hope United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Houston officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Gibson died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Denver. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Wallace Gibson.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Gibson of Denver and Wallace Neal Gibson of Chattanooga; and five grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cook, Terry Horton, L.O. Roberson and Gene Pace.

Sally Neva Hinkle
86, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Sally Neva Hinkle, 86, of Athens will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Steve Moseley and Tim Murray officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hinkle died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Limestone Health Facility. She was born June 16, 1913, in Morgan County to John Waden and Bessie Grantland Moody. She was a homemaker and a member of Corinth Church of Christ. She was the widow of Sam Hinkle and the mother of the late Eugene Hinkle, Johnny Hinkle and Larry Hinkle.

She is survived by six sons, Hollis Hinkle of Huntsville, Stanley Hinkle of Toney, James Hinkle of Dickson, Tenn., Ben Hinkle and Kenneth Hinkle, both of Athens, and Dwight Hinkle of Decatur; one daughter, Ruby Hall of Toney; one brother, Hoyt Moody of Cullman; one sister, Mary Ella Cook of Hanceville; 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Sons will be pallbearers.

Charles Coleman Howard
85, church elder

CENTER STAR -- Funeral for Charles Coleman Howard, 85, of Lexington was Monday at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church with George Warren officiating.

Burial was in the church cemetery with Elkins Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Howard died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing Home in Florence. He was born Oct. 28, 1914, in Lauderdale County. He was an elder at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a community volunteer in Lexington. He was the brother of the late Bertis Howard, Cecil Howard, Carlin Howard, Mattie Allen and Jessie McCafferty.

He is survived by his wife, Reeda Putman Howard; one son, Charles Ronnie Howard of Rogersville; two daughters, Bonnie Faye Norton of Killen and Judy Fulks of Moulton; two sisters, Gaynell Richardson of Lexington and Vivian Johnson of Pulaski, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Pallbearers were Lance Fulks, Dustin Hambright, Wayne Putman, Donald Putman, Gerald Howard and Harold Newton.

Charles MonroeKimbril Sr.

Funeral arrangements for Charles Monroe Kimbril Sr., 55, of Decatur, who died today, Dec. 28, 1999, at University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham will be announced by Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Sarah Augusta Long
90, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Sarah Augusta Long, 90, of Falkville will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. David Zimmerman officiating.

Burial will be in Falkville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Long died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at her home. She was born Feb. 19, 1909, in Morgan County to Arthur C. and Martha Elizabeth Woodruff Summerford. She was a homemaker and a member of Falkville First Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Jimmy Long of Birmingham; two daughters, June Long Stephenson of Birmingham and Jane Long Crofford of Melbourne, Ark.; one sister, Merle Summerford Drinkard of Cullman; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be C.A. Blevins, Jimmy Steele, Mike Tarpley, Gary Williams, Tom Wunch and Tommy Wunch.

Addie Mae McCoy

Graveside service for Addie Mae McCoy, 72, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with Johnny Crowder officiating and Reynolds Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. McCoy died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, in Huntsville. She was born July 30, 1927, in Limestone County to Odell Hobbs and Solon Bailey. She attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Decatur.

She is survived by four sons, Charles Lee McCoy and R.B. McCoy, both of Decatur, Charles McCoy Jr. of Madison and Billy McCoy of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Betty Holman and Joann Turney, both of Decatur, and Cynthia Matthews of Huntsville; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Cedric McCoy, Charles McCoy Jr., Robert Matthews, Joe Turney, Larry Troupe and Billy McCoy.

Shirley Fay McPherson
62, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Shirley Fay McPherson, 62, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Godbee officiating.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. at Shotsville Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. McPherson died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital. She was born May 13, 1937, in Marion County to Eathel and Argolis Kennedy Chandler. She was a homemaker and a member of Shotsville Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Foy Lee McPherson; two sons, Charles "Chuck" McPherson and Timothy Lee McPherson, both of Decatur; three daughters, Patricia Fay Howard and Shirley Juanitta Massey, both of Decatur, and Rita Ann Corum of Danville; one brother, Hugh Kennedy Chandler Sr. of Decatur; and 12 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Timothy Lee McPherson, Chuck McPherson, Robert Dale McPherson, Terry Howard, Ken Chandler and Hugh Chandler Sr.

Savoy Robinson

Funeral arrangements for Savoy Robinson, 82, of Decatur, who died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Parkway Medical Center Hospital, will be announced by Reynolds Funeral Home.

Johnnie B. Williams
75, homemaker

Funeral for Johnnie B. Williams, 75, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. J.B. Snyder officiating.

Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Williams died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Sunbridge Health Care Center. She was born July 10, 1924, in Morgan County to Hershel and Notie Hoover. She was a member for 53 years of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and church librarian for several years. She also delivered THE DECATUR DAILY for years.

She is survived by her husband, Mitchell Davis Williams; two sons, Mitchell D. Williams Jr. of Bristol, Tenn., and James Thomas Williams of Decatur; one daughter, Becky Wakefield of Gardendale; one brother, the Rev. Joe Hoover of Decatur; one sister, Lavenia "Pat" Hefner of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ollie Street, Herbert Anders, James McCreless, Bill Long, I. S. Varnell and Danny White.

Junita Patience Allard
83, self-employed artist
HUNTSVILLE -- Funeral arrangements for Junita Patience Allard, 83, of Huntsville will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allard died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, at Big Spring Specialty Care Center in Huntsville. She was born June 27, 1916, in Oklahoma to Albert T. and Alice C. Thomison Maxwell. She is a former resident of Barefoot Bay, Fla., and resided in Madison County the past four years. She was a watercolor artist.

She is survived by one daughter, Joanne L. Long of Decatur.

Roy MelvinBeavers Sr.

HUEYTOWN -- Funeral for Roy Melvin Beavers Sr., 82, of Hueytown was Wednesday at Brown-Service Funeral Home West with the Rev. John Killan officiating.

Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Beavers died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, in Hueytown. He was of the Baptist faith. He was the father of the late James Beavers.

He is survived by two sons, Roy Melvin Beavers Jr. of Decatur and David Beavers of Calera; two daughters, Linda Hudson of Arkansas and Virginia Campbell of Decatur; two stepsons, Larry Vallely of Alexander City and Pat Johnson of Birmingham; one stepdaughter, Diane Green e of Birmingham; four sisters, Sadie Tanner of Wylam, June Roberts of Hueytown, Cora Lee LeStrange of Melborne, Fla., and Sylvia Mosley of Sylvan Springs; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
