Graveside service for Betty Joyce Wear, 59, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Gordon Appleton officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Shelton Funeral Home.

Ms. Wear died at home Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000. She was born May 20, 1940, in Washington, D.C., to Leddon G. George and Christine Sherril George. She was a retired librarian from Jacksonville State University.

She is survived by her mother, Christine Polaski of Decatur; one brother, Bud George of Decatur; and one sister, Linda Appleton of Moulton.

Bessie 'Pepper' White
75, retired typist and field representative

HARTSELLE -- Memorial service for Bessie "Pepper" White, 75, of Decatur will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Brooks Barkley officiating and Peck Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. White died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Decatur.

She was born March 4, 1924, in Beeville, Texas, to Francis "Buck" and Virginia Prioux. She was retired from Equifax as a typist and field representative. She was active in Christian ministries and youth programs, a den mother and Girl Scout leader, an officer of the Gideon International auxiliary, member and Sunday school teacher at Southside Baptist Church and a participant in prison ministries at Limestone Correctional Facility.

She is survived by her husband, D. Alan White; one son, Dudley White of Hartselle; two daughters, Kathy Lewis of Athens and Cherie Beatty of Grand Saline, Texas; one brother, Ted Prioux of Sinton, Texas; two sisters, Laura Smith of Canadian, Texas, and Janice Hudson of Monroe, La., and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in Gideon Bibles.

Matilda Rebecca Peebles Bradley
82, homemaker

Funeral for Matilda Rebecca Peebles Bradley, 82, of Decatur will be Monday at noon at Mount Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Mooresville with the Rev. James Robinson officiating.

Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery with Reynolds Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Bradley died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Windsor House Nursing Home in Huntsville. She was born April 8, 1917, in Limestone County to Egbert Peebles and Jo Timmie Sandifer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star W.C. Morton Chapter No. 320 and Mount Zion Presbyterian Church, where she served on the usher board.

She is survived by one son, Carl Bradley of Huntsville; six daughters, Hattie Mae Fuller of Decatur, Rosevelt Vaughn, Jo Timmie Holman and Idella Jefferson, all of Huntsville, Queen Ester Peppers of Chattanooga and Gloria Caudle of Belle Mina; three brothers, Egbert Peebles of Mooresville, Eddie Peebles of Chattanooga and John Richard Sandifer of Louisville, Ky.; three sisters, Laurie Jolley of Decatur, Louvenia Sandifer of Green brier and Ruby Garrison of Louisville; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Lee Banniza
93, retired store owner

Graveside service for Margaret Lee Banniza, 93, of Decatur will be today at 3:30 at K&P Cemetery in Russellville with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Banniza died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. She was born Sept. 5, 1906, in Franklin County. She co-owned and operated Decatur Sample Shoes. She was the widow of G.P. "Gip" Banniza, who managed the Princess Theater in the 1930s and 1940s.

She is survived by one stepson, Richard Banniza of Palm Springs, Calif.; and one sister, Annie Smith of Decatur.

Great-nephews will be pallbearers.

Hunter Edward Denson Sr.
94, retired teacher

CARTHAGE, Miss. -- Funeral for Hunter Edward Denson Sr. of Madison was Thursday in Tuscola, Miss., Baptist Church with Wilcox Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Denson died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Home in Madison. He was born May 6, 1905, in Mississippi to Hoseph Hunter Denson and Phenie Etheridge Denson. He was a retired teacher and coach.

He is survived by two sons, Hunter E. Denson Jr. of Decatur and James J. Denson of Huntsville; one daughter, Betty Jo Bryan of Woodville, Miss.; one brother, Jimmy Denson of Crossville, Tenn.; three sisters, Josephine Young, Myrna Young and Doris Burchett, all of Tuscola; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Grandsons were pallbearers.

Jaquline F. Johnson

ATHENS -- Funeral arrangements for Jaquline F. Johnson, 84, of Athens, who died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Athens-Limestone Hospital, will be announced by Spry Funeral Home.

Hazel Josephine Johnston
88, homemaker

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Hazel Josephine Johnston, 88, of Eva will be today at 2 p.m. at Etha Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Hanvey and the Rev. Albert Dean Estes officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Williams-McCracken Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Johnston died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at Woodland Hospital. She was born July 27, 1911, in Blount County to George B. and Minnie Carter Kelley. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Roy W. Johnston of Columbia, Tenn.; three daughters, Barbara Hanvey and Ruth Bates, both of Eva, and Shirley Harris of Stockbridge, Ga.; one sister, Opie Kelley Oaks of Eva; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Pricillia Parker Jones
53, registered nurse

MOULTON -- Funeral for Bonnie Pricillia Parker Jones, 53, of Russell-ville will be today at 1 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Raymond Stewart officiating.

Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at her home. She was born Sept. 1, 1946, in Winston County to Clarence Marlin Parker and Avie Warren Parker. She was a Baptist and a registered nurse.

She is survived two sons, Keith Jones of Mount Hope and Roger Jones of Russellville; one daughter, Paula Lynn Riddle of Russellville; one brother, Troy Parker of Moulton; and two grandchildren.

Jewell C. 'Gerald' Murphree

MOULTON -- Funeral for Jewell C. "Gerald" Murphree, 51, of Moulton will be today at 3:30 at Elliott Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Strickland and the Rev. Amos Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Heflin Cemetery.

Mr. Murphree died Friday, Jan. 14, 2000, at Baptist-Montclair Hospital in Birmingham. He was born April 16, 1948, in Lawrence County to Ernest James Murphree and Ruthie Bell Johnson Murphree.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Murphree; one stepson, Jason Chambless of Moulton; and three brothers, Roy Lee Murphree and Harold Murphree, both of Mount Hope, and Nathaniel Murphree and Hatton.

Pallbearers will be Jonathon Murphree, Michael Sutton, Willard Terry, Ronnie Naylor, Faron Horton and Clinton Frost.

Clyde Waymon Rutherford
62, truck driver

MOULTON -- Funeral for Clyde Waymon Rutherford, 62, of Hillsboro was Saturday at 3 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Bolden officiating.

Burial was in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Rutherford died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at his home. He was born July 29, 1937, in Lawrence County. He was a truck driver for Bowman Co.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Rutherford; three sons, Allison Rutherford of Hillsboro, Wessley Rutherford of South Carolina and Mark Rutherford of Columbus, Miss.; his mother, Annie Rutherford of Hillsboro; six brothers, Ray Rutherford and Randall Rutherford, both of Hartselle, Steve Rutherford of Moulton, and Larry Rutherford, Burl Rutherford and Ronnie Rutherford, all of Trinity; three sisters, Joyce Engle of Hillsboro, Carolyn Sams of Trinity and Jeanette Blasingame of Decatur; and four grandchildren.

Jimmy Dale Bailey
41, truck driver

Funeral for Jimmy Dale Bailey, 41, of Trinity will be today at 2 p.m. at Flat Creek Missionary Baptist Church with Nicky Pressnell officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery with Shelton Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Bailey died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born June 28, 1958, in Lawrence County to Curtis and Cora Lee Kirby Bailey. He was a truck driver. He was the brother of the late Randy Bailey.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Bailey; three sons, Jeffery Bailey, Jamie Bailey and Jason Bailey, all of Trinity; one daughter, Jessica Bailey of Trinity; one stepson, Ted Zaragosa of Trinity; one stepdaughter, Bambi Bailey of Trinity; his parents of Trinity; and one sister, Betty Drane of Trinity.

Pallbearers will be Josh Reynolds, Patrick Hill, Luke Swann, Jason Kennum, Kenny Kennum and Jason Rowe.

Iola Graham Evans
65, admitting clerk

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Iola Graham Evans, 65, of Falkville will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Falkville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Archibald officiating.

Burial will be in the Evans Family Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight and Monday night from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the service.

Mrs. Evans died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center Princeton in Birmingham. She was born Feb. 8, 1934, in Cullman County to Andrew Jackson Graham and Flora Eudell Humphries Graham.

She was a member of Falkville First United Methodist Church and was an admitting clerk at Woodland Community Hospital in Cullman.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Evans; two daughters, Melanie Evans Molzof and Susan Evans Goggins, both of Falkville; one brother, Edgar Leon Graham of New Orleans; one sister, Emma Lucille Santi of Cullman; and one granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Smith, Gary Shoemaker, Elvie Vest, James Trakel, Albert Molzof and Wayne Goggins.

Viola Fuller Haney

MOULTON -- Funeral arrangements for Viola Fuller Haney, 97, of Moulton, who died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Lawrence Baptist Medical Center, will be announced by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Bretha Echols Hawkins
81, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Bretha Echols Hawkins, 81, of Decatur will be Monday at 1 p.m. at Valhermoso Springs Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Hawkins died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Summerford Nursing Home in Falkville. She was born July 24, 1918, in Morgan County to Brad and Bee Wilson Echols. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church. She was the widow of Ben R. Hawkins.

She is survived by two nieces, Haze G. Carter of Section and Nell M. Gilchrist of Pleasant Grove.
