Bruce William Nance

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Bruce William Nance, 57, of Hartselle will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at New Covenant Church with Ron Teal officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mr. Nance died Sunday, June 24, 2001 at his residence. He was born Oct. 3, 1943, in Jefferson County to James William Nance and Reba Quinn Nance. He was a United States Navy veteran and a member of New Covenant Church in Hartselle. He worked 14 years at Wolverine Tube. He was a self-employed truck driver for FedEx Ground of Nashville.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Ann Nance; his mother of Decatur; two sons, Scott Nance of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Brett Nance of Hartselle; one daughter, Jennifer Hensley of Hartselle; two sisters, Kenetha Lamberth of Bay Minette and Senoth Nance of Decatur; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edgar Slaten, Tom Lovelady, Corky Goe, Ron Harwell, Ron Wills and Cas Kantosky.

Louis Charles Arndt
78, retired farmer

CULLMAN -- Funeral for Louis Charles Arndt, 78, of Cullman will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin McGrath officiating.

Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery with Moss Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight at 6 p.m. and Rosary will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Arndt died Monday, June 25, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1922, in Cullman County, to Joseph J. Arndt and Clara Bowling Arndt. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Box Arndt; two sons, Timothy L. Arndt and Gregory P. Arndt, both of Cullman; two brothers, Harry Arndt of Cullman and James Arndt of Somerville; three sisters, Mary Mauter of Florence, Ruth Beardsley of Cullman and Theresa Barnett of Hollywood, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sacred Heart Church.

Frances S. Brooks
75, retired teacher

Memorial service for Frances S. Brooks, 75, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home with the Rev. John Clotfelter officiating.

Mrs. Brooks died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Pennsylvania to Adam Stroup and Geraldine Kerr Stroup. She was a graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville, Pa., and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Edinboro University. She did post-graduate work at Smith College, Kent State University and the University of Pittsburgh. She served Intermediate Unit No. 5 in Meadville, Pa., for 23 years as teacher and head teacher, and she was a Girl Scout leader and den mother. She also was a Sunday school teacher. She was a volunteer for Morgan County and Parkway Medical Center. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Kappa Gamma, Golden Crown Chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star and Central United Methodist Church. She was the mother of the late Linda B. Robbins, the sister of the late Doris Erickson and the grandmother of the late Elizabeth Aldridge.

Survivors include one son, Walter Brooks of Decatur; one brother, Merle A. Stroup of Titusville, Pa.; two sisters, Shirley Galmish of Titusville and Ruth Whitescarver of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the UAH Elizabeth Aldridge Fund, The University of Alabama in Huntsville, Development Alumni House 128, Huntsville, AL 35899 or to the Central United Methodist Church building fund.

Dorotha Nell Patterson
71, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Graveside service for Dorotha Nell Patterson, 71, of Falkville was to be today at 2 p.m. at Falkville City Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Weldon officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.

There will be a memorial service Sunday at 2 p.m. at Falkville First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Patterson died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center Montclair in Birmingham. She was born July 2, 1929, in Morgan County to Homer Turner Summerford and Nell Orr Summerford. She was a homemaker and a member of Falkville First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy.

Survivors include her husband, Wesley Malcolm Patterson Jr.; two sons, Mal Patterson of Hartselle and Mike Patterson of Falkville; two daughters, Becky Rowe of Vinemont and Susan Smith of Falkville; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Falkville First United Methodist Church.

Estelee Terry Richardson

$88, retired business owner

Funeral for Estelee Terry Richardson, 88, of Decatur, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Mike King officiating.

Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Richardson died Monday, June 25, 2001, at her home. She was born June 15, 1913, in Lauderdale County to Robert Andrew Griffin and Jeanette Francis Rainey Griffin. She owned and operated Terry's Grocery and a beauty shop. She was a member of Grant Street Church of Christ. She was widow of Roderick H. Richardson.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Ray Terry and Billy Joe Terry, both of Decatur; three sisters, Lila Rucker and Verta Moran, both of Athens and Jean Griffin of Texas; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Robert Bradford, William Simpson, Cecil Endsley, Jim Warren, Gary Powell and Paul Sims.

Judy R. White
76, homemaker

Graveside funeral for Judy R. White, 76, of Decatur will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Rangoon Jackson officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 11 at the funeral home.

Mrs. White died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1925, in Cedartown, Ga., to E.M. Rogers and Etta Mae Rogers Wiggins. She was the widow of George L. White of Birmingham and was a homemaker.

Survivors include one son, Bill Grubbs of Decatur; one daughter, Angie Whitman of Birmingham; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stuart Strong, Carl Grissom, Tom Meier, Tom Gates, Will Grubs and Larry Whitman.

Anna Wallace Akers
67, homemaker
ATHENS -- Funeral for Anna Wallace Akers, 67, of Athens will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 3 at the funeral home.Mrs. Akers died Monday, June 25, 2001, at her home. She was born May 9, 1934, in North Carolina.

Survivors include one son, Michael Ray Gadd of Athens; two brothers, Carl Ward and Clayton Ward, both of Whiteville, N.C.; two sisters, Carlotta Conner of Apex, N.C., and Faye Frieda of Sarasota; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Leonard Carlton Clark
75, retired supply clerk

ATHENS -- Memorial service for Leonard Carlton Clark, 75, of Athens was to be today at 2 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home with Dwight Kennedy and Rick Craft officiating.

The family was to receive friends a half hour before the service.

Mr. Clark died Monday, June 25, 2001, at his home. He was born Aug. 15, 1925, in Limestone County to Ethel and Vergie Colbert Clark. He was a former supply clerk at Redstone Arsenal. He worked for TWA and the Kennedy Space Center. He was retired from the Limestone County Board of Education. A World War II veteran, he received the Purple Heart.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Clark; two sons, Dwayne Clark of Athens and James Griffin of Melbourne, Fla.; one sister, Angie Gatcheff of Williamsport, Pa.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.

Charlie Clemons Sr.
95, retired farmer

TANNER -- Funeral for Charlie Clemons Sr., 95, of Athens will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church of America with the Rev. John Jude officiating.

Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Peoples Funeral Home directing. The body will be in the church one hour before the service.

Mr. Clemons died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Athens Convalescent Center. He was born Nov. 24, 1905, in Limestone County to Issac Clemons and Emma Fletcher Clemons. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 71.

Survivors three sons, Robert Lee Clemons of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Charlie Clemons Jr. and John Henry Clemons, both of Athens; two daughters, Lucille Noble of Madison and Lula Freeman of Athens; 22 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and members of the Masonic Lodge will be pallbearers.

Lura Belle Prince Cryer
94, homemaker

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for Lura Belle Prince Cryer, 94, of Somerville will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home with the Rev. David Parker officiating.

Burial will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cryer died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at Parkway Medical Center. She was born Jan. 30, 1907, in Morgan County to Edward Prince and Otee Wilson Prince. She was a homemaker and lifetime resident of Morgan County. She was a member of Cotaco United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Curtis L. Cryer, the mother of the late Hubert G. Cryer and the grandmother of the late Hubert G. "Sonny" Cryer Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Cook of Somerville and Bertie Lou Lipscomb of Elmhurst, Ill.; one sister, Vera Brenner of Waterford, Mich.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Ethel S. Green haw
93, homemaker

ATHENS -- Funeral for Ethel S. Green haw, 93, of Athens will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home with Don Osborne and Warren Glass officiating.

Burial will be in Myers Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Green haw died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at her home. She was born Oct. 23, 1907, in Limestone County to John Hundley Simpson and Susan Regina Hardy Simpson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ at New Hope. She was the widow of Atha Green haw and the mother of the late Gilbert Green haw.

Survivors include one son, David Green haw of Athens; three daughters, Mary Elmore, Clara Lewis and Mildred Beddingfield, all of Athens; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Barry Green haw, Tommy Elmore, Michael Lewis, Mark Beddingfield, Brad Green haw and Greg Green haw.

Ida Mae Heflin
78, homemaker

MOULTON -- Funeral for Ida Mae Heflin, 78, of Moulton will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Sherrill officiating.

Burial will be in Loosier Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Heflin died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at National Health Care in Moulton. She was born March 26, 1923, in Lawrence County to Joe Terry and Lillie Mae Terry. She was a homemaker and a member of Wheeler Pentecostal Church. She was the widow of Thomas Heflin.

Survivors include seven sons, Wendell Heflin of Kennesaw, Ga., Larry Heflin of Etheridge, Tenn., John Heflin of Hillsboro, Kenny Heflin and Gregory Heflin, both of Moulton, Thomas Heflin of Hartselle and Jeffrey Heflin of Trinity; six daughters, Sherry Meierdierk of Albany, Ga., Iola Vanderford of Moulton, Jinny Heflin and Ozella Oliver, both of Hatton, Shelia James of Decatur and Shelby Tidwell of Town Creek; five brothers, Robert Terry of Lexington, I.Q. Terry of Courtland, Billy Terry of Decatur, Donald Terry of Moulton and Roger Terry of Trinity; five sisters, Josephine Travis of Decatur, Lou Agnes Dotson, Betty Ruth Givens and Ruby Joyce Terry, all of Courtland, and Jo Ann Letson of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.

Rev. John Hill Kelly
68, retired draftsman

HARTSELLE -- Funeral for the Rev. John Hill Kelly, 68, of Hartselle will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Hartselle with the Rev. W.L. Cole and the Rev. Willis Vickery officiating.

Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens with Peck Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. The body will be at the church one hour before the funeral.

Mr. Kelly died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, at his home. He was born March 20, 1933, in Tennessee to William Steve Kelly and Hettie Delphia Ray Kelly. He was a United Methodist minister and a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from Thiokol Chemical Corp. as a designer draftsman.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Fay Foote Kelly; two daughters, Allison Keenum and Paige Wilson, both of Hartselle; one brother, Paul Kelly of Hartselle; two sisters, Lilly Owens of Hartselle and Mary Strickland of Smyrna, Tenn.; and three grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Austin Hicks, Ronald Puckett, Bob Miller, Frank Campbell, Gary Shaneyfelt, Donald Strickland, Mark Shaneyfelt and Tony Miller.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church Social Concerns at 11061 County Road 236, Moulton, AL 35650 or Alacare Hospice at 4752 Alabama 280, East Birmingham, AL 35242.
