Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Artelia Hodge
Funeral services for Artelia Hodge of Rt. 2 Reform were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Union Hill Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Hodge, Rev. Ken-neth Smith, Rev. Chester Free and Rev. George Shaw officiating.
She was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church, a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. She was preceded in death by her husband Emmett Warren Hodge. She died Nov. 1 at the Sansing Nursing Home at the age of 87.
Survivors include three sons, Wayne Hodge and wife Alice, both of Houston, Tex., Winston Hodge and wife Helen, both of Huntsville, and Willard Hodge and wife Vernice, both of Reform; two sisters, Wilma Harris, Carrollton, and Idella Blake, Eugene, Ore.; two brothers, Webb Hester, Reform, and J. B. Hester, Tuscaloosa; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sam Hester, Charles Hester, Orvel Young, Keith Perrigin, Joe Sanders and Bubba Jaynes.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Stabler-Robbins Fune-ral Home of Reform directing.

Oscar Hollingsworth
Graveside services for Oscar Dotson (Dot) Hollingsworth of Rt. 4 Gordo were held at 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Hershel Owen and Rev. Chester Free officiating and Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home of Reform directing.
He was a member of the Baptist faith, a retired carpenter and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. He died Oct. 31 at Northport-DCH at the age of 87.
Survivors include his wife Alice Mildred Hollingsworth, Gordo; three daughters, Barbara Hollingsworth and Melba Holl-ingsworth, both of Gordo, and Brenda Hollingsworth Berry, West Point, Miss.; a son Oscar Dwight Hollingsworth and wife Patricia Shepherd Hollingsworth, both of Baton Rouge, La.; one sister Lucile Hollingsworth House, Gordo; three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Perry, Patrick Stephen Hollingsworth and Melanie Lynn Hollingsworth.
Pallbearers were Patrick Hollingsworth, Jonathan Elrod, Jimmy Hollingsworth, Gaines House, Gail House and Glenn House.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society.

Sam Johnson
Funeral services for Sam Hill Johnson of Rt. 1 Gordo were held at 3 p.m. Nov. 1 at Gordo First Baptist Church with Rev. Marc Howard, Rev. Scott McQueen and Rev. David Blackburn officiating.
He was a member of the Gordo First Baptist Church, a World War II veteran, a retired Assistant Engineer with the Pickens County Engineering De-partment, and a lifelong resident of Pickens County. He died Oct. 30 at Fayette County Medical Center at the age of 80.
Survivors include his wife Wilma E. Johnson, Gordo; two daughters, Barbara J. Elmore and her husband Pete, Reform, and Betty J. Clay and her husband Olan, Gordo; three grandchildren, Katie, Kellie and Kasey Clay, all of Gordo.
Pallbearers were Raymond Junkin, Dr. Jon E. Sanford, Sammy Cobb, Sonny Housel, Roddy Sanders, Paul Clay, Charles Howard and Zac How-ard.
Honorary pallbearers were Pickens County Engineering Department employees 1946-1976, deacons of Gordo First Baptist Church, Jerome Hickman and Denny Hickman.
Burial was in the Gordo City Cemetery with Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home of Reform directing.

Dollie Lindsey
Funeral services for Dollie Lindsey of Kennedy were held at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dalton Eason and J.C. Rushing officiating.
She was a native of Fayette County. She was a housewife and a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lindsey. She died Nov. 1 at Fayette Medical Center at the age of 94.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Taggart, Vernon, and Pat Vice, Kennedy; one son C. B. Lindsey, Reform; one sister Lucille Hudson, Fayette; six grandchildren, Roger Lindsey, Jason Vice, Scott Taggart, Jacqueline Lee, Rene Carr and Michelle Baker; and three great-grandchildren, Adam Lee, Austin Vice and Heath Aldridge.
Pallbearers were Roger Lindsey, Jason Vice, Billy Ray Lee, Tony Carr, Adam Lee and Heath Aldridge.
Burial was in the Kennedy City Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home directing.

Thomas Erwin “Buck” Windle
Funeral services for Thomas Erwin “Buck” Windle of Jasper were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 28 at Jasper First Church of Nazarene with Rev. Gerald Parmer and C. W. Box officiating.
He was born and reared in the Benevola Community and was the son of Hudson and Bessie Craft Windle. He was a combat veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Sarasota in the South Pacific theater. He was retired from Flowers Industries after 37 years of service. He was preceded in death by his first wife Willie Borden Windle. He died Oct. 26 at DCH Regional Medical Center at the age of 76.
Survivors include his wife Emogene Hyche Windle, Jasper; daughter Phyllis and her husband Philip Woods, Oakman; two sons, Thomas Erwin Windle Jr. and his wife Janet Windle of Hoover, and Michael and his wife Jeannine Windle of Jasper; sister Kathleen Dole, Cottondale; brother Charles Windle, Green Cove Springs, Fla; seven grandchildren, Hillary Woods Gahlaut, Memphis, Tenn., Katherine Woods Guthrie, Birmingham, Amy Windle and Thomas Erwin Windle III, both of Hoover, Leah Windle, Brittany Windle and Erica Windle, all of Jasper; three stepchildren, Renee McKee, Raleigh, NC, Neal Hyche, Ft. Myers, Fla., and Rogers Hyche, Anniston; and many relatives and friends in Pickens County.
Burial was in Walker Memory Gardens with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing.

William J. Akin
Funeral services for William Jordan Akin of Carrollton were held at 2 p.m. Oct. 12 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Vernon Blackburn and Bro. Billy Little officiating.
He was a native of Carrollton and an Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the Pickens County Road Department with 30 years of service and from Standard Oil and Buchanan Lumber. He was founder and President of the Basinger Hunting Club. He died Oct. 10 at Northport Medical Center at the age of 74.

Survivors include his wife Lorin Wright Akin, Carrollton; two daughters, Evelyn Akin McElroy and her husband Billy, Carrollton, and Ruth Akin Greer and her husband Ben, Birmingham; two sons, James William Akin and Robert Hugh Akin, both of Carrollton; one sister Alice Akin Cochrane, Carrollton; two grandsons, Andy and Bryan McElroy; and two great-grandsons, Andrew and Auston McElroy.

Pallbearers were Miles Arnold, Don Campbell, Joe Pogue, Kenny Poole, Hillary Russell and Clay Sansing.

Honorary pallbearers were Ervin Wright, F. L. Varnon, Marvin Tate, Paul Campbell, John Sutton, Murphy Ezelle, Millard Latham, Joe Bain, Olin Cummings, Richard Cummings, Marvin Pogue, Doug Goodman, Murray Perrigin, Morris Gray, Stephen Junkin, Gambro Healthcare-Northport, Dr. Dirk Berry and Dr. Richard Gurick.

Burial was in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery with Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery Fund in Sapps or to the Alabama Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box 512, Birmingham, AL 35201.

Ida Lee Conner
Funeral services for Ida Lee Conner of Reform were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 11 at Glen Echo Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Gary Mullenix and Bro. Paul Sellers officiating.
She was preceded in death by her son Leroy Morgan. She died Oct. 9 at Salem Nursing Home at the age of 78.

Survivors include thee daughters, Nellie Acker, Carrollton, Mary Whitehead, Lake City, Tenn., and Elizabeth Nabors, Vidor, Tex.; one son Vernon Morgan, Columbus, Miss.; one brother Edward Lammers, Montgomery; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were James Acker, Robert Acker, David Acker, John Lammers, Michael McDaniel and Scott Driver.

Burial was in the church cemetery with Stabler-Robbins Funeral Home of Reform directing.

Woodie Fleming
Funeral services for Woodie Eugene Fleming of Kennedy were held at 11 a.m. Oct. 10 at the Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Pat Schatzline and Bro. Kenneth Stough officiating.
He was pastor at Pleasant Grove (Bump) Church in Gordo for 10 1/2 years and had worked for VCI in Fayette for 23 years. He died Oct. 10 at Fayette Medical Center at the age of 54.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Joan Fleming, Kennedy; two sons, Eric Fleming and his wife Veronica, Kennedy, and William Bradley Fleming, Kennedy; parents Laurice and Lavon Fleming, Kennedy; sister Jane Crowley and her husband Max, Belk; brother Albert Lee Fleming and his wife Patricia, Millport; children in the Lord, Billy Ray and Kelly Jones, Tuscaloosa; and two grandchildren, Trey and Canaan Fleming, Kennedy.

Pallbearers were Earl Beams, Gary Kelly, Mike Banks, Brian Sullivan, Jerry Elmore and M. R. Cook.

Burial was in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Dowdle Funeral Home directing.
