Zettie Mae Henderson Dixon

Flomaton

Mrs. Zettie Mae Henderson Dixon, 74, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 in a Jay hospital. She was a native of Butler County, Ala. and a resident of Flomaton for many years. She was an active member of Fannie Missionary Baptist Church, member of the Eastern Star Chapter 13 and was a housekeeper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Dixon.

She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Jones of Pensacola, Fla., two sons, John Dixon Sr. and Derek Dixon, both of Brewton; four sisters, Annie Crenshaw of Pacoia, Calif., Maggie Henderson of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Gibson of Youngstown, Ohio and Yvonne Boyd of Georgiana; three brothers, Samuel Henderson of Youngstown, Ohio and Melvin Henderson and Hilson Henderson Jr., both of Miami, Fla. and nine grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 11, from 1 to 8:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. at Fannie Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Hiram T. Stanton officiating. Burial will follow at Fannie/Damascus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel directing.

Bernice Mae Emmons

Flomaton

Mrs. Bernice Mae Emmons, 88, died Aug. 6, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Luther D. "Big Daddy" Emmons.

She is survived by three daughters, Annette Jones of Century, Fla., Merlene Forbes of Atmore and Bettie Odom of Chicago; a sister, Mavis Jean Phillips of Ocean Springs, Miss.; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 9, at 1 p.m. at the Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Gene Stokes officiating. Burial followed at Flomaton Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Jimmy Findley

Red Level

Mr. Jimmy Findley, 49, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004 at his residence in Red Level.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Findley of Red Level; his mother, Mary Belle Findley of Brewton; two daughters, Hillary Findley of Red Level and Angela Legault Lawson of Andalusia; his sister, Earlda Kerr of Mexico Beach and one grandson.

Graveside services were held Friday, Aug. 13, at the Damascus Cemetery with Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia directing.

Clarence "Kelly" Boerman

Zeeland, Mich.

Mr. Clarence "Kelly" Boerman, died Aug. 3, 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helena Boerman; two daughters, Karen Steenwyk of Brewton and Dawn Bierma of Grand Rapids, Mich.; his sons, Lyle Boerman of Byron Center, Mich., and Terry Boerman of Zeeland; a brother, Jarvis Boerman of Mich.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. at North Street Christian Reformed Church in Zeeland with the Rev. Bernard Tol and Dr. Lyle Bierma officiating. Burial followed at Zeeland Cemetery with Yntema Funeral Home directing.

Dorothy Moore Ponds

Jay, Fla.

Mrs. Dorothy Moore Ponds, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in Pensacola after an extended illness. She was a native of Santa Rosa County and a lifelong resident of Jay. She worked for Judy Bond Manufacturing Company in Brewton for 15 years and was a member of Jay Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Holley J. Moore and Joseph Ponds, and her son, Jerry J. Moore.

She is survived by a son, Mickey Moore of Americus, Ga.; a daughter, Theresa Anderson of Cantonment; a sister, Lorine Wilkes of Laurel Hill, Fla.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. at Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. Earle Green e officiating. Burial followed at Jay City Cemetery with Jay Funeral Home directing.

Albert Lee Lambeth

Milton, Fla.

Mr. Albert Lee Lambeth, 63, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004. He was a resident of Milton and a longtime resident of Century, Fla. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Albert Lambeth Jr., and a sister, Myra Parker.

He is survived by his wife of 37 1/2 years, Effie Lee Lambeth of Milton, sons, Donald Greg Lambeth and Clayton Lambeth, both of Milton; daughters, Donna Marie Lambeth and Sandra Lee Holberg, both of Brewton; brothers, Thomas Lambeth of Milton and Robert DeWayne Lambeth of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Helen Virginia Rowe of Cantonment, Fla., Barbara Ruther of Cincinnati, Ohio, Dorothy Rowell of Jay, Fla., Bertha Dee Sharron, Millie Rolin and Debra Ann Hallock, all of Pace, Fla., Debra Jean Brooks of Michigan, Celia Parton of Oklahoma, Margie Watson of Brewton and Pamela Broder of Andalusia, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Gandy officiating. Burial followed at Rock Holiness Cemetery in Flomaton with Jay Funeral Home directing.

Benjamin F. Dyal

Jay, Fla.

Mr. Benjamin F. Dyal, 88, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, after an extended illness. He was a native of Clio, Ga. and a resident of Cross City, Fla., before moving to Jay. He was a graduate of Cross City High School, the University of Florida and the University of Southern Mississippi. He worked with the Escambia County School Board and retired from the Mississippi State Board of Education as an accountant. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Escambia County Retired Education Association. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Cora, David, Donald, Herman, Mae and Marvin.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Thelma H. Dyal; his sister, Patricia Crawford, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 21, at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Edwards officiating and Jay Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Tony Gomillion, Donald Hendricks, James Hendricks, John D. Hendricks, Bill Patrick and Tom Williams. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Gandy, Tracy Hodgins, Bill Martin, Billy Parker, Wayne Tappan and J.D. Warrick.

Doris F. Zangas

Atmore

Mrs. Doris F. Zangas, 75, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004 in Atmore. She was a native of Brownwood, Texas and a resident of Atmore since 1953. She was an ordained minister and attended the Friendly Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Aubrey Reid and a brother, Earl Reid.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Louis Zangas of Atmore; her mother, Elsie Anderson of Brownwood, Texas; her son, Larry Zangas of Flomaton; two daughters, Kathryn Adams of Atmore and Brenda Starks of Coffeeville; two brothers, Artie Reid of Brekenridge, Texas and Don Reid of Brownwood; a sister, Betty Key of Brownwood; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Johnson and the Rev. Butch Starks officiating. Burial followed at Little Rock Cemetery with Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Mike Gantt, Larry Cox, Brian Starks, Rex Baggett, Marty Reid and Phillip Zangas.

Linda Faye Moore Crawley

Jay, Fla.

Mrs. Linda Faye Moore Crawley, 48, died Friday, Aug. 20, 2004 at her residence in Jay. She was a lifelong resident of Jay and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Irving Moore Sr.; her brother, Randy Moore and sisters, Betty Ard and Margaret Gunn.

She is survived by her mother, Addie Lee Moore of East Brewton; a son, Daniel Carlton Kelley of Milton, Fla.; a daughter, Dana Lashell Quiffin of Thomasville, Ga.; brothers, Walter Irvin Moore Jr., Jerry Lee Moore and James Earl Moore, all of East Brewton and Ronald Wayne Moore of Jay; sisters, Lois Ann Moore of East Brewton, Dianne Horn of Berrydale, Fla., Brenda Faye Forbes of Kentucky and Sandra May Gomez of San Antonio, Texas and three grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 24, at Pine Level Cemetery with Bro. James Rheam and the Rev. Jerry Lee Moore officiating and Jay Funeral Home directing.

Jerry Paul Blocker

Castleberry

Mr. Jerry Paul Blocker, 64, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in a Santa Rosa hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Coffee County and a long time resident of Conecuh County. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired electrician.

He is survived by his brother, Ron Blocker of Fort Walton, Fla.; a sister, Dean Blocker Wolfe of Channelview, Texas and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Caylor officiating. Burial followed at Buffington Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Nellie Ruth Ball

Brewton

Mrs. Nellie Ruth Ball, 69, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, in an Atmore nursing facility after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Brewton, a member of Brewton First Baptist Church and a retired beautician.

She is survived by a son, Keith Ball of Brewton; a brother, John D. Rowell of Brewton; a sister, Betty Jo Graves of Brewton and two grandsons.

Graveside funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Cemetery with the Rev. John Finklea officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Mary Ann Stuckey

Pineview

Mrs. Mary Ann Stuckey, 47, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at her residence in Pineview. She was a lifetime resident of the Flomaton community and a member of Halls Creek Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her father, Garvin Chancery.

She is survived by her mother, Lettie Chancery of Pineview; her husband, James W. Stuckey of Pineview; a son, Waylon Stuckey of Pineview; a daughter, Melissa Johnson of Pineview; a brother, Gene Chancery of Pineview; three sisters, Rebecca Johnson and Gayle Murphy, both of Pineview and Marie Bedsole of Jay, Fla., and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J.W. McInnis officiating. Burial followed at Halls Creek Cemetery with Flomaton Funeral Home directing.

Ben Elmer McGraw

Evergreen

Mr. Ben Elmer McGraw, 67, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at a local hospital. He was a native of Brewton and a self-employed logger.

He is survived by his wife, Ardell McGraw of Evergreen; two sons, James McGraw of Texas and Melvin Mooney of Evergreen; a daughter, Linda Tatum of Montgomery; a brother, Allen McGraw of Montgomery; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cope Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at Chapel of Cope Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Renfore officiating. Burial will follow at New Haven Cemetery with Cope Funeral Home directing.

Mabel Lucas Brown Stone

Brewton

Mrs. Mabel Lucas Brown Stone, 75, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004 at a Pensacola hospital after an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Escambia County, Ala. She was a member of Elim Baptist Church, a retired nurse's aide and a homemaker.

She is survived by two sons, Wayne Lucas and Terry Lucas, both of Brewton; three daughters, Shirley Qualls of Century, Fla., Deloris Parmer of Brewton and Becky Murray of Lindsay, Okla.; five brothers, Charlie King and Huey King, both of Brewton, Earl King and Bill King, both of Pensacola, Fla., and Ralph King of Allentown, Fla.; two sisters, Irene Kelly and Lois Cole, both of Brewton; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and best friend, L.C. Pugh of Brewton.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Ray Biggs officiating. Burial followed at Elim Cemetery in the Roberts community with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Willis Elbert "Pete" Thompson

Wallace

Mr. Willis Elbert "Pete" Thompson, 96, of Wallace Road, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native and life-long resident of Wallace. He was a member of Wallace Methodist Church and owned Thompson's Grocery in Wallace for 75 years.

He is survived by two sons, Ed Wayne Thompson and Willis Thompson, both of Wallace; three daughters, Rosemary Thompson Dixon and Lucy Thompson, both of Brewton, and Linda Thompson Tilley of Cullman; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 15, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Coburn officiating. Burial followed at Wallace Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Mitchell Lee, Ronnie Dixon, Shawn Jones, Brian Thompson, Lee Thompson and Scotty Herndon.
