Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Dean

Joanne Dean, 46, of the Pleasant Grove community, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005.

Services will be Saturday, May 21, at 1 p.m., at Albertville Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The Rev. James Bridges will officiate and The Long Family will provide the music. Albertville Funeral Home will direct.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Jerome Dean; sons, Adam and Tyler Dean; mother, Louise Ragon of Pleasant Grove; sisters, Carolyn Guffey of Grant and Diane Warren of Pleasant Grove; brothers, Jerry Ragon of Trenton, Ga. and Dean Ragon of Pleasant Grove.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. W. Ragan; and a brother, Kenneth Ragon.

Pallbearers will be Craig Warren, David Ragon, Rodney Ragon, Labron Ragon, Scotty Guffey and Billy Sampson.

Freeman

James Thomas Freeman, 74, of Albertville, died Sunday, May 17, 2005, at the Marshall Medical Center South.

Graveside services were Tuesday, May 19, at Geraldine Cemetery, with the Rev. Mike Keeble officiating.

Survivors include a daughter, Betsey Freeman Cannon of Indianapolis, Ind.; and brother, Lamar Freeman of Geraldine.

Gargus

Sheila Diann Gargus, 50, of Crossville, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Marshall Medical Center South.

Services were Saturday, May 14, at Albertville Memorial Chapel with burial in New Home Cemetery in Kilpatrick. The Revs. David James, Jimmy Batie, and Ricky Quinn officiated.

Albertville Memorial Funeral Chapel directed.

Survivors include her mother, Jeanette Townsel Gargus of Crossville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Janet and Wayne Gregory of Crossville and Susan and Don Tucker of Crossville; chosen sister and brother-in-law, Teresa and Hollis Roberts of Attalla; grandmother, Minnie Townsel of Crossville; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Joseph Wayne Gargus; and a brother, Bobby Eugene Gargus.

Pallbearers were Joey Harper, Shane Harper, Dustan Powell, Chris Johns, Kevin Vaughn and Tyler Kilgo.

Garner

Clarence Edward Garner, 81, of Arab, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Marshall Medical Center North.

Services will be Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m., at Albertville Memorial Chapel with burial in New Brasher’s Chapel Cemetery in Arab. The Revs. Marvin Porter and Billy Garner will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday, May 21, at 4 p.m. for the family and 4:30-9 p.m. for friends. Albertville Memorial Chapel will direct.

He was a member of the Arab Masonic Lodge, a charter member of Cahaba Shrine Temple and member of the Huntsville Scottish Rites and a member of Brasher’s Chapel UMC Church in Arab.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Conway Garner; sons and daughter, Jerry F. and Cricket Garner of Arab and Tim Garner of Cal.; sisters, Willie Mae Pope of New Harmony, Farice Bronoto of Fla., and Thelma Berry of Fyffe; brothers, J. W. Garner of Fla., the Rev. Billy Garner of Rainsville, and the Rev. Bobby Garner of New Market; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and Mack White of Albertville; one granddaughter; two great-granddaughters; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Owens, Billy Owens, Bob Colbert, Chris White, Harlan Garner, and Bill Osborne.

Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Arab Masonic Lodge.

Ogle

Barbara Ogle, 60, of Guntersville, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005, in Huntsville Hospital.

Services will be Saturday, May 21, at 11 a.m., at Wilson Funeral Chapel in Rainsville. Burial will be at Marshall Memorial Gardens. Wilson Funeral Chapel will direct. Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Amanda and Richard Beck of Guntersville and Donna and Mark Nash of Tenn.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Hitt

H. J. (Red) Hitt, 91, of Boaz, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Marshall Medical Center South.

Services will be Sunday, May 22, at McRae Chapel in Boaz, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, May 21, 5-8 p.m. McRae Funeral Chapel, Boaz, will direct.

The family will accept flowers but also suggest donations be made to Hospice of Marshall County or the Boaz Civitans Club.

Powell

Harvey Clay Powell, 96, of Boaz, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Boaz Nursing Home.

Services were Friday, May 20, at Boaz Carr Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery in Boaz. The Rev. Roger Watkins officiated.

Survivors include his daughter, Lola Johnson of Boaz; brother, J. C. Powell of Cal.; two granddaughters, Becky Carroll and Rhonda Johnson, both of Boaz; great-granddaughters, Lori Carroll and Jamie Carroll, both of Boaz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Powell.

Saint

L. D. Saint, 82, of Attalla, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Attalla Health Care Center.

Services were Thursday, May 19, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jesse Turner officiated and burial was at Freemans Chapel Cemetery. Adams Brown Service Funeral Home directed.

Survivors include a son, L. D. Saint Jr. of Fla.; daughters, Bettye Turner of Attalla, Dale Richards of Crossville, Teresa Sanders and Kathy Richards, both of S. C., and Linn Remirz of Geraldine; sister, Lorene Holderfield of Jasper; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Saint and Lyla Bartlett; and his wife, Mary Louise Griffin Saint.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Wayne Richards, Kevin Richards, Troy Richards Jr., Troy Richards Sr., Roy Richards, and John Buckelew as an alternate.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of G Hall at the Attalla Health Care Center and Dr. Deborah Reiland.

Smith

Molean Annie Smith, 90, of Attalla, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, at Marshall Medical Center South.

Graveside services were Friday, May 20, at Bethsaida Cemetery with Bro. Stan Davidson officiating. McRae Funeral Home, Boaz, directed.

A homemaker, she was born June 20, 1914 to William L. and Carrie Daughtry Smith.

Survivors include her sisters, Mozel Latham and Dessie Borders, both of Attalla.

Weaver

Charlie Weaver, 90, of Geraldine, died Saturday, May 7, 2005, at the Crossville Health Care Center.

Services were Tuesday, May 10, at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Geraldine Cemetery. The Revs. Chris Weaver and Joe Bowman officiated.

Survivors include sons, Carl Weaver of Florence, Kenneth Weaver of Boaz, Ross Weaver of Fairview, Ga., and Wallace Weaver of Geraldine; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Williams

Lou Neal Dunn Williams, 89, of Albertville, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at Marshall Medical Center South.

Services were Tuesday, May 17, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Howard Westmoreland and Morris Stephens officiating. Burial followed at Marshall Memorial Gardens.

She was a church member of the Highpoint Baptist Church and member of the Highpoint Homemakers Club and sold Avon for 17 years.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Kenneth and Burma Dunn of Albertville; sister, Ara Willoughby of Boaz; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. H. Dunn; sister, Tava Lovelady; and a son, Quimby Dunn; brothers, Thomas B., Tolbert, Syrel and Carlton Smith.

Alley

John David Alley, 65, of Albertville, died Friday, June 17, 2005.

The family plans to have a remembrance service at a later date. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Service will direct.

He was a carpet installer in the area for many years and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Carmen Alley; sons, John David Alley Jr. and Mark Alley; daughters, Sandra Alley Miller, Rebecca Alley Painter, Leslie Ann Alley, Andrea Alley, and Amy Alley; 11 grandchildren; brothers, Green Lee Alley and Robert Lee Alley; sisters, Alta Virginia Alley Erwin, and Rona Eva Alley Freeman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Araiza

Yesenea Araiza, 8, of Horton, died Sunday, June 19, 2005.

Services were Wednesday, June 22, at Albertville Funeral Home.

Survivors include her mother, Julisa Araiza of Horton; brothers, Joshua and Martrin Araiza of Horton; grandparents, Antonia Araiza and Guadalupe Araiza and Rufina and Agripia Rodriguez, all of Mexico.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the family.

Johnson

Mary Josephine Johnson, 76, of Boaz, died Sunday, June 19, 2005, at her residence.

Memorial services were Wednesday, June 22, at Central Baptist Church in Albertville. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home directed.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Luavada and Joseph McGee of Brigantine, N.J., Connie J. and Donnie Kellett of Eddy, Tex.; daughter, Jo Ann Colebank of Boaz; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William McKinley and Nancy Jane Lee Taylor and her husband, Albert Allman Johnson.

Lang

Henry Wallace Lang, 78, of Albertville, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Marshall Medical Center South.

Services were Wednesday, June 22, at Albertville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lavon Nailer officiating. Burial followed at Marshall Memorial Gardens.

He was retired after 35 years of service with the City of Albertville.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Guyleen Lang of Albertville; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Peggy Lang of Geraldine, Chris and Teresa Lang of Collinsville; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Sandra Pankey and Danny and Neokka Lang; step-daughter, Charlotte Pankey of Albertville; brother, Holland Lang of Geraldine; sister, Roberta Romine of Albertville; one granddaughter; seven step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lessie Lang and brother, Leonard Lang.
