Alabama, U.S., County Marriage Records, 1805-1967 - 1814-1935

Billy Lawrence Thomas, Sr.: Funeral services for Billy Lawrence, Sr., 59 of Lowndesboro, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Chestnut Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Bates officiating. Burial followed at Chestnut Creek Baptist Cemetery in Verbena.

Born on Nov. 5, 1943 to James Edward Thomas and Margarete Thomas, he died April 9, 2003 in Lowndesboro.

Survivors include his sons Bill Lawrence Thomas Jr. of Dalton, Ga. and Jeffery Scott Thomas of Datlton, Ga.; mother Margarete Thomas of Dalton, Ga.; sister Sally Denise Hall of Pelham; two granddaughters.

W. C. Brantley

W.C. (Bill) Brantley, of Bessemer, died January 1 at the age of 78. Mr. Brantley served in the military during WWII and was retired from U.S. Steel.

He was born in Chilton County on April 11, 1927.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Brantley, his son, Boyd Allen Brantley and his step-daughter, Katherine Dickey. He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Brantley and Kenny Brantley of Jemison; two daughters, Debra Porter of Thorsby and Marilyn (Nita) Hayes of Randolph; 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hoover with Rev. Randy Gothard officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South in Hoover.

Chester Arnold Macomber

Graveside services for Chester Arnold Macomber, 92, of Norcross, Georgia, were held Wednesday, January 5 at the Scandanavian Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Tony Hughes officiating.

Macomber died Sunday, January 2 in Georgia.

Survivors include his daughter, Shirley M. Paquin of Norcross, Georgia; and two granddaughters, Jennifer Paquin and Julie Paquin, both of Norcross, Georgia.

Carlis Andrew Bice

Services for Carlis Andrew Bice, 73, of Clanton were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, January 1 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Wendell Kelley and Rev. Jerry Milliken officiating. Burial followed in the Martin Memorial Cemetery.

Bice died Thursday, December 30 at his residence.

Survivors include his wife, Syble Bice of Clanton; son, Rickey Bice of Verbena; daughter, Jackie Mims of Clanton; two grandsons, Ashely Bice of Verbena and Nick Mims of Clanton; and sister, Vonie Duffes of New Orleans.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jean Bice.

Martha Louise Littleton

Services for Martha Louise Littleton, 73, of Maplesville, were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, January 3 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Henry Miller and Rev. John Ingram officiating.

Burial followed in the Robinson Springs Cemetery.

Littleton died Friday, December 31 at Jackson Hospital.

Survivors include son, Curt Littleton of Lawley; four daughters, Jean Collins of Lawley, Judy Killingsworth of Calera, Beverly Tinney of Maplesville and Renee Hall of Clanton; four sisters, Margaret Martin of Jemison, Betty McKay of Huntsville, Marie Bruner of Montgomery and Jimmie Mullins of Wilsonville; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Ray Williams

Jimmy Ray Williams, 53, of Clanton, died Friday, December 31 at his residence.

Services were held at Macedonia Baptist Church, Sunday, January 2 at 2 p.m. Burial followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Maplesville.

Survivors include his daughter, Lori Williams Moore of Maplesville; brother, Roy Allen Williams of Atmore; and sister, Alecia Green of Clarksdale, Mississippi.

John Russel Heaton

John Russel Heaton, 74, of Clanton, died Wednesday, January 5 at Chilton Medical Center. He was born Friday, February 14, 1940 in Baldwin Co,. son of the late Russel Heaton and the late Vallulah Littlejohn.

He was retired with 40 years service from Rust Engineering and he was the owner of Heaton Pecan Farm for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Billie J. Heaton of Clanton; daughter, Lisa H. Bridges of Chelsea; son-in-law, Charlie Bridges of Chelsea; grandson, Chase Bridges of Chelsea; granddaughter, Haley Bridges of Chelsea; and sister, Elizabeth Ann Heaton of Birmingham.

Services will be held at Clanton First Baptist Church today at 2 p.m. with Rev. Matt DeBord, Mr. Rufus Webster, Rev. Jay Hurd and Mr. Jim Christenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Martin Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received before the service from 1-2 p.m.

The family requests tha no flowers be sent. Memorials may be made to the Chilton County Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 2487, Clanton, AL 35046

Martha Louise Littleton

Services for Martha Louise Littleton, 73, of Maplesville, were held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, January 3 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Henry Miller and Rev. John Ingram officiating. Burial followed in the Robinson Springs Cemetery.

Littleton died Friday, December 31 at Jackson Hospital.

Gladie "Granny" Melton

Services for Gladie "Granny" Melton, 97, of Alabaster will be held Friday, January 7 at 11 a.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Still Memorial Cemetery, Elliottsville.

Melton died Tuesday, January 4. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Melton and her son, Jerry Melton.

Survivors include her daughters, Joyce White of Alabaster and Bonnie Smith of Thorsby; son, Ray Melton of Pascagoula, MS; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren

Eulas LaFayette Huffstutler

Eulas LaFayette Huffstutler, 87, of Thorsby, died Wednesday, January 5 in his residence. He was born Saturday, March 31, 1917 in Blount Co., Alabama, Son of the late Chamer Huffstutler and the late Belauh Henderson.

He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor.

He worked as a truck driver.

Survivors include four sons, Mr. Raymond Huffstutler of Thorsby, AL, Mr. Kenneth Huffstutler of Thorsby, Mr. John Huffstutler of Odenville, Mr. James Huffstutler of Thorsby; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Shannon of Clanton and Mrs. Patricia Burton of Selma; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Mrs. Pauline Dorsett of Albertville.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorene Huffstutler.

Services will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist #1 today at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jim Shannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist #1.

Peggy Louise Thacker Bush

Peggy Louise Thacker Bush, 62, of Jemison, died Tuesday, January 4 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. She was born Thursday, April 23, 1942 in Jefferson County. She is the daughter of the late John Doyle Thacker and Louise Crumpton Thacker.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Mr. Terry L. Bush of Brent, Mr. Jerry (Jane) W. Bush of Mt. Wolf, PA, Mr. John (Martha) A. Bush of Jemison; mother, Mrs. Louise C. Thacker of Jemison; brother, Mr. Johnny E. (Ellie) Thacker Sr. of Jemison; six grandchildren, Jay Johnson, Austin Bush, Megan Bush, Tiffany Bush, Victoria Bush and Natalie Bush.

Services will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church, today at 2 p.m. with Rev. Jason Smith, Rev. Doug Powell, Rev. Gene Hitchcock and Rev. Brad Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Cemetery in Maplesville.

Osmond Carl Martin

Osmond Carl Martin, 78, of Clanton died Wednesday, January 5 at Chilton Medical Center. He was born Thursday, September 9, 1926 in Chilton County and is the son of the late Clarence Martin and the late Zora Paschal.

He worked as a sheet metal worker.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Essie Pearl Martin of Clanton; two sons, Mr. Wendel Martin of Clanton, Mr. Chris Martin of Clanton; brother, Mr. Raymond Martin of Chattanooga, TN; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Hustead of Charleston, WV, Mrs. Doris Connell of Clanton, Mrs. Dean Lewis of Dadeville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Graveside, Saturday, January 8 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Bolton officiating. Interment will follow in the Martin Memorial. Friends will be received today from 5-8 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home Chapel.

Hilda M. Bradley

Hilda M. Bradley, 72, of Auburn died Wednesday, January 5 in Auburn. She was born Thursday, January 5, 1933 in Alabama and is the daughter of the late C.D. Messer and the late Jessie Riggins.

She was a homemaker

Survivors include her husband, Mr. George W. Bradley of Auburn; two daughter, Mrs. Beth Weed of Auburn, Mrs. Jessica Corbett of Pensacola; two sons, Mr. John Bradley of Manchester, KY, Mr. Joe Bradley of Atlanta, GA; sister, Mrs. Dot Blankenship of Clanton and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at First United Methodist Church, January 8 with Rev. Johnny Trobaugh officiating. Friends will be received at First United Methodist Church from 10-11 a.m., January 8 in Clanton.
