James Edward "Jim" Baxley of Milton, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, after a battle with an incurable, malignant brain tumor. He was 72. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 13 at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with elders Howard Grayson, Kip Pardee and Wayne Blocker officiating. Some of James' favorite songs were presented by Shirley Frizzel, Dwight Lindsay and Karen Logan. Family received friends Sunday, Jan. 12 at the funeral home.

Robert G. Chastain of South Woodland Road, Daleville, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2003, at Flowers Hospital. He was 75. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise. Other arrangements and survivors are incomplete and will be announced later by Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home, 334-347-9598.

Katrina Garrison of Prattville died peacefully Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at UAB Medical Center. She was 31. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Prattville with Dr. Travis Coleman, the Rev. Ronnie Brewer and Dr. Rick Lance officiating. Mrs. Amie Asalene VanLandingham Hughes of Hartford died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, following an extended illness at her home. She was 97. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Sardis Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Marley and the Rev. Gary Stringfellow officiating. Burial will follow at Pondtown United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Wiregrass Hospice of Enterprise.

Gladys M. Kirkland passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2003, at Flowers Hospital after an extended illness. She was 87. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Jones officiating. A private Burial will follow at Selma Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Oscar Vaughan Lawhorn of Chancellor died Jan. 12, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 58. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Pittman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Tew officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery. Elizabeth (Vassie) Murphy Palmer Moore, a resident of Westside Terrace, died early Sunday evening, Jan. 12, 2003, following an extended illness. She was 89. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Clark Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny McCurdy officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory officiating. Mrs. Doris K. Morgan of Dothan died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Flowers Hospital. She was 87. Mr. Phillip Myers Reagan of Montgomery died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 33. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

Margaret (Parker) Robinette a loving wife, sister and aunt to a host of relatives, died on Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at her home in Enterprise. She was 80. Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 16 at Meadowlawn Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Belcher and the Rev. Steve Worth officiating. Burial will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sardis United Methodist Church, c/o Rev. Steve Worth, 3902 County Road 610, Enterprise, Ala. 36330.

Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Still Bassettof Cullman, formerly of Roanoke, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Hanceville Nursing Home in Hanceville. She was 86. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Coley M. Holloway and the Rev. Tim Craft officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Quattlebaum Funeral Home in Roanoke. Mrs. Bassett will lie in state for one hour prior to the service beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday. Memorials may be floral or the family requests donations be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Kevin Buie of King Road died Wednesday evening, Jan. 15, 2003, after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 46 years old. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Cedar Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Mr. Alto Glenn Casey Sr. of North Morris Street, Slocomb, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 16, 2003, at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. He was 85. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with the Rev. Dan Raley officiating. Burial will follow at Slocomb City Cemetery. Eason Knight Harris of Bess Nook Road, Bonifay, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at his residence. He was 51. Issac Harris of Dothan died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at Southwest Georgia Regional Hospital following injuries he sustained in a vehicle accident. He was 54. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18 at Behold the Lamb of God Ministries in Dothan where the Rev. Terry Owens is pastor and with the Rev. Roy White officiating. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home. The cortege will assemble at 1:20 p.m. Saturday at 1014 S. Bell St.

Ernest Hornsby Jr. of 515 South Iroquois Ave., Headland, died peacefully Tuesday night, Jan. 14, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today, Jan. 17 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher and the Rev. D Harold Grant officiating. Mack Snell of Caryville, Fla., originally from Enterprise, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, in a VA Regional Hospital in Biloxi, Miss. He was 77. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 19 at Bethany Baptist Church of Enterprise. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 18 at Searcy Funeral Home. Timothy Franklin Sowell of Broad Street, Headland, died late Tuesday night, Jan. 14, 2003, at his home after an extended illness. He was 13. Alvin Lee Ussery of Walnut Street, Cary, N.C., died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at his residence. He was 78. Brooklyn Helms of Dothan died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Children's Hospital of Alabama-Birmingham following a brief illness. She was 21 months old. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery near Capps, Ala. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of her mother, Brenda Green e, 200 Sweetwater Drive, Apt. 21B, Dothan.

Norman Helms of County Road 43, Clayton, died late Friday night, Jan. 17, 2003, at his home after an extended illness. He was 82. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today, Jan. 19 at Corinth Baptist Church, near Texasville, with the Rev. Clyde Hancock and the Rev. Earl Brogden officiating.
