Mrs. Vera Nevada Jackson Sabre died Tuesday, April 8, 2003. She was 72.
Complete arrangements and a list of survivors will be announced later by Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-792-4194.

Mr. James "Hugh" Summerlin of Ashford died Monday, April 7, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. He was 88.Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Dothan City Cemetery with Minister Tim Smith of Enon Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Ashford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice in the name of Mr. Summerlin.

J.D. Glenn Whitehead of Whitehead Drive, Webb, died early Monday evening, April 7, 2003, in a Dothan hospital following a short illness. He was 90.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Webb Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Scarborough and Dr. Jerry Windsor officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. Masonic rites will be conducted graveside. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Webb Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 70, Webb, Ala. 36376.

Naomi Beasley Williams of County Road 549, Newton, died Sunday night, April 6, 2003, at her home, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. She was 82.Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Skipper and Dr. Harvey Luke officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302 or to the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, c/o Mary Gilley, 2005 County Road 55, Newton, Ala. 36352.

Mr. Dewey Olis Arnold of South County Road 49, Slocomb, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Flowers Hospital after an extended illness. He was 92. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at New Teamon Baptist Church with the Rev. Wendell Holmes and the Rev. John W. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Mr. Bruce R. Cella of Dothan died Friday, April 4, 2003, at Northwest Florida Community Hospital following an extended illness. He was 82. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 7 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Cemetery with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Flowers will be accepted.

Jesse R. Cheatham Sr. of Dothan died Thursday, April 3, 2003. He was 83. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lawson Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Heritage Chapter National Railway Historical Society, c/o Danny Lewis, 1217 Petty St., Dothan, Ala. 36301

Ricky Van Davidson of County Road 49, Slocomb, died Friday afternoon, April 4, 2003, at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. He was 47. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 7 at Malvern Baptist Church with the Rev. Hosea Parker officiating. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb.

Mrs. Eva Dean of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and formerly of Slocomb (St. Peter Community), passed Friday, April 4, 2003, in Ft. Lauderdale. She was 67. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Fla., 850-263-6834.

James Foy Deese, a former resident of Webb, died early Saturday morning, April 5, 2003, at Oakview Manor Health Care Center in Ozark. He was 82. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Sunday, April 13 during the Webb Baptist Church worship services. A private burial was held Saturday, April 5 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Cemetery in Webb.

Linda Ann Galloway of Geneva passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. She was 54. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at Bottoms Garden Funeral Home Chapel in Geneva with the Rev. Paul Lett officiating. Burial will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery.

Tsurue Toni Maughan of Daleville died late Wednesday night, April 2, 2003, at her residence following an extended illness. She was 72. The body was cremated and a memorial service will be announced later by Southern Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory later.

Mr. James Everett McCommon of Connell Circle, Dothan, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Flowers Hospital following an extended illness. He was 73. Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at Malvern Baptist Church with the Revs. Hosea Parker and John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Rinzol McIntosh of County Road 641, Chancellor, died early Friday morning, April 4, 2003, at Medical Center Enterprise after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 57. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6 at Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Joe Glover, the Rev. Mike Shroades and the Rev. Huey Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery.

Mr. Delma Aston Simmons of East State Highway 52, Slocomb, died Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dothan after a brief illness. He was 88. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Malvern Baptist Church with the Rev. Hosea Parker and the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Malvern Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Ann Nell Williams Thompson of Millbrook died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery following an extended illness. She was 62. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark with the Rev. Randy Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Universal Cemetery in Ariton. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 4 at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Revs. Johnny Belcher and Don Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Hartford City Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at Bottoms-Garden Chapel in Hartford. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Mrs. Nellie Ruth Austin of Dogwood Drive, Hartford, died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Flowers Hospital after a brief illness. She was 85. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at First United Methodist Church in Hartford with Dr. Billy D. Gaither and the Rev. Kevin Krist officiating. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thurday at the church in Hartford.

Mrs. Isamae Hobdy of Ozark died Monday, March 31, 2003, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark. She was 76. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 4 at Greater Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, Reynolds Street, Ozark, with the Pastor Rev. S.C. Hudson and the Rev. Washington R. Virgil officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery. A family hour will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Trawick Funeral Home.

Grady Curtis McWaters of Jack died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Elba General Hospital. He was 87. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 4 at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Hubert McWaters and the Rev. Mack King officiating. Burial will be at the church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 3 at Dillard Funeral Home. There will be a 30 minute lie-in-state prior to services.

Billie Earle "Pops" Thompson of East Selma Street, Dothan, passed away peacefully at his residence Tuesday, April 1, 2003, following an extended illness. He was 76. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 4 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry L. Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the residence, 1557 E. Selma St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Free Will Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1679 E. Main St., Dothan, Ala. 36301 or Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Kathryn Virginia "Ginny" Turner of Panama City, Fla., died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in a Panama City hospital. She was 71. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 4 at Bayou George Cemetery with the Rev. Bruce Raley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Panama City, Open Heart Fund.

Cradled by her five adoring daughters and reaching to the awaiting arms of the two men she loved the most, Jeanette Patterson Watford Clark stepped into the light of Jesus Wednesday, April 2, 2003. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 4 at Gulfview United Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. To share their love for Jeanette, the family will welcome visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Southerland Family Funeral Home, Harrison Avenue and 19th Street, Panama City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice or Gulfview United Methodist Church.

Richard "Rick" Pierce Gaut of Kennesaw died Tuesday, April 1, 2003. He was 51. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday, April 4 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Gene Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
