Gertrude Webb Abercrombie of Chancellor died Monday, March 3, 2003, in Wiregrass Medical Center after a buried illness. She was 102. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elbethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Tew and the Rev. Billie Joe Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Methodist Church Cemetery in Chancellor. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

William Stuart Arwood Sr. of Rt. 1, Midland City died Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Flowers Hospital. He was 76. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Bess Hall Bagwell of Dothan, died Monday morning, March 3, 2003. She was 95. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with the Rev. James Underwood officiating. At other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Joann Morris, 101 Shawnee Court, Dothan.

Mr. Billy Wayne Blair of Webb died Monday, May 3, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. He was 48. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lester Ford officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Iris Emma Bruner of Pensacola, Fla. and formerly of Ashford, died following a brief illness Sunday, March 2, 2003, in Pensacola. She was 92. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ashford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Daniel Randall officiating. Burial will follow at Ashford City Cemetery.

Inez Cook, a former Columbia resident, died late Monday night, March 3, 2003, at the home of her daughter, Sue Bowman, in Ozark, under the care of Wiregrass Hospice following an extended illness. She was 76. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 7 at Southern Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Hospice Chaplain the Rev. Randall Johnson and the Rev. Max Sporman officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Eleanor Brooks Douglass, a resident of Wesley Manor, died Monday evening, March 3, 2003. She was 76. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today, March 5 at Ashford City Cemetery with her son-in-law, Dr. Herb Gannon officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Wesley Manor, Fountain of Love, c/o Methodist Homes for the Aging, 1520 Cooper Hill Road, Birmingham, Ala. 35210.

Allen Childs Draughon of Wesley Manor Methodist Home died Monday, March 3, 2003, after an extended illness. He was 81. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Walter D. Draughon, Jr. officiating. Special music will be by the Rev. Billy Rich, minister of music, and Mrs. Lanette Johnson, pianist at Southside Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory. Miss Angel Louise Kirkland of Waynesville, Ga., died Monday, March 3, 2003. She was 3. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 7 at Waynesville Church of God. Burial will be at Daniels Cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Ballard Maninger of North County Road 9, Dothan, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 58. Funeral arrangements and list of survivors are incomplete and will be announced later by Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb, 334-886-7777.

Gladys Brannon Ramsey of the Brown's Crossroads community, near Ozark, died Monday night, March 3, 2003, in Oakview Manor Health Care Center in Ozark. She was 90. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, near Echo, with Dr. Walter Reeder officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. (EST) Thursday, March 6 a t Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery, Bessemer City, N.C., with the Rev. Randy Harry officiating and Sisk-Butler Funeral Home of Bessemer City directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, c/o Kate Dossett, 165 Private Road-1569, Ozark, Ala. 36360, or to the Choctawhatchee Volunteer Fire Department, c/o Jack Wright, 80 Private Road-1569, Ozark, Ala. 36360.

Bobby Ray Whitman of Springfield, Mo., and formerly of Dothan, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, in the Dominican Republic while on vacation. He was 59. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, March 7 at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons, Kan., with the Rev. Wayne Mason officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the First Christian Church of Sedalia, Mo. Memorials may be sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, Kan. 67357. Southern Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of all local arrangements.

Marion Bilby Williams of LaPorte, Ind., passed away at Hartford Health Care, Hartford on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 8:12 p.m. She was 89. Funeral services will be noon Saturday, March 8 at Cutler Funeral Home, 2900 Monroe St., LaPorte, Ind. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7 and from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Marion Bilby Williams Scholarship Fund, c/o Ball State University Foundation, P.O. Box 672, Muncie, Ind. 47308.

Mrs. Tura Caldwell Wise of Samson, Ala., died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Wiregrass Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was 98. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at First United Methodist Church of Samson with the Rev. Joe Lisenby and the Rev. Dean Allerheiligen officiating. Eulace B. Baxley, formerly of Graceville, Fla., died peacefully Tuesday morning, March 4, 2003, at his home in Tallahassee, Fla. He was 85. The funeral will be 10 a.m. (CST) Saturday, March 8 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Graceville, Fla., with Pastor Doyle Davis officiating. Burial will be at Galilee Methodist Church Cemetery. Henry Baxter Jr. of Bama Street, Slocomb, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at his home after an extended illness. He was 69. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 7 at Countyline Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Acy Tucker, pastor, and Elder Eugene Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Vistiation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at Varner Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be placed in the church two hours prior to service time.

Burial will be at Sykes Creek Baptist Cemetery, near Clio. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. Addison Olivia Gross, infant daughter of Barry and Amber Kirkland Gross of Valdosta, Ga., died Sunday, March 2, 2003. A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at Central Avenue Church of Christ in Valdosta, Ga., with Carson McLane Funeral Home of Valdosta directing. Parents will receive visitors following the services at the church tonight. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at Christian Home Church of Christ in Wicksburg, Alabama. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing.
