Leo Frank Edwards, a resident of Dothan, died early Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 74. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Kenneth Putnam officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill with Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday night at the funeral home. Southern Heritage Funeral Home, 702-1712, is in charge of arrangements.

Beulah Mae Harris of Spellman Street died on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003 at her sister's home after an extended illness. She was 75. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date along with a complete list of survivors by Varner Memorial Funeral Home, 671-1455.

Mrs. Matha B. Harris, of Enterprise, AL, died, Sunday, February 23, 2003, in Enterprise, AL. She was 92. The funeral will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Frank Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2003, at the funeral home. Mrs. Harris will be taken to the church one hour before service time. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Searcy Funeral Home, 334-347-2517, is in charge of arrangements.

Deborah S. Helms, of Level Plains died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at the family residence after an extended illness. She was 45. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home. Patterson Sorrells Funeral Home, 334-347-9598, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Helen Parrish Kelley, of Washington Co. Convalescence Center in Chipley, Florida died Sunday morning, February 23, 2003 in Ft. Walton Medical Center after a long illness. She was 51. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at 3 p.m. from the Reedy Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jimmy Eddins and Rev. Dale Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Pittman Funeral Home, 334-898-7141, is in charge of arrangements.

Maedell Ethridge May, of Webb, died Saturday afternoon, February 22, 2003 in the Henry County Nursing Home in Abbeville, following a long illness. She was 86. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003 in the Webb Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in the Webb Cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Webb Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 70, Webb, Alabama 36376. Active pallbearers will be Glenn Dickerson, John Ivey, Butch May, Joe May, Larry Phillips and Stanley Nowell. Mrs. Nettie A.Miles, of Woodbridge, Virginia and formerly of Enterprise died Thursday,February 20, 2003 at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. She was 94. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday from the Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Duhaime officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. Patterson Sorrells Funeral Home, 334-347-9598, is in charge of arrangements.

N. Lee Newell, Jr., of Newville, died Friday, February 21, 2003. He was 36. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2003, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Roger Phillips and Rev. James A. Rich officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Estelle Perdue entered into eternal life with her Savior and Lord on Thursday evening, February 20, 2003 A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today in the parlor at Southern Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Susie Savell Knowles Peterson, of Fayetteville, Georgia, and a former resident of Headland and Dothan, died Saturday morning, February 22, 2003, in an Atlanta hospital following a short illness. She was 87. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2003, in the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church, County Road 22, between Headland and Columbia, with Reverend Jack W. Kale, III and Mr. Terry Thomley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. Carl Guess Petteway Jr. died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2003 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 65. Funeral services for Petteway will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Washington Street United Methodist Church in Eufaula. The Rev. Richard Shafer and the Rev. Roy Bateman will officiate and Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Kent Funeral Home, 334-775-3403, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Myrtie Ropp, of Ariton, died Saturday, February 22, 2003, in Flowers Hospital. She was 79. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003, from Rocky Head Baptist Church with the Reverend Ron Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Mrs. Dorothy Merle Thompson, 81, of Ozark, died Saturday, February 22, 2003, in Ozark Nursing Facility. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at Concord Congregational Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be at Holman Funeral Home, 995 South Union Avenue, Ozark, 334-774-5348, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday evening, February 24, 2003, with the family receiving friends during this time. Holman Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-5348, is in charge of arrangements. John Robert Vinson, a resident of Hartford, died at Flowers Hospital following a brief illness. He was 54 years old. At his request, his body will be cremated and his cremains scattered at sea. Southern Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Melvina Joy Walker of Parker Street died on Saturday, Feb. 22 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 34. Robert Frank (Buddy) Weems, Sr., a resident of Haleburg, died Saturday morning, February 22, 2003, in a Dothan hospital after a short illness. He was 77. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2003, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary chapel with Elder Ross Plowden and Rev. Jeff Stading officiating. Burial will follow in the Haleburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary, 334-585-5261, is in charge of arrangements.

Mickey Agee, age 72 of 315 Oakwood Dr., Enterprise and previously a long time resident of Venice,Florida, died Sunday morning, February 23, 2003 at the family residence after an extended illness. Memorial services will be 4:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Green Hill Presbyterian Church with Pastor Todd Baucum officiating andPatterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the family plot at Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg, Virginia. The family asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O.Box 311103, Enterprise, Al 36331 or Green Hill Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 310637, Enterprise, Alabama 36331.

Ms. Annie W. "Lil Bit" Baker of Dothan went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 21, 2003. Ms. Baker will repose at the funeral home until 3 p.m. today. Family and friends may also visit at the Alabama Missionary Baptist Church from 5 until 7 p.m. today. The homegoing service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Alabama Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Ms. Baker will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. The Revs. W. C. Snell and Holt will officiate. She will be laid to rest in the Gates of Heaven Cemetery.

Jimmy Ralph Brannon, a resident of Irondale Alabama, died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at his residence. He was 50. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Hartford Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Kelly and Rev. Scott Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the chapel at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Jimmy will be lace in the church on hour prior to service time on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Valleydale Baptist Church, "Grace Adventure Fund", 2245 Valleydale Road, Birmingham, Alabama, 35244.

The Rev. Johnny Culver Sr. of East Adams Street in Dothan died Feb. 19, 2003. He was 78. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Patterson Street Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Adolph Noble officiating. Interment will be in Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Horace Williams Mortuary.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Missionary Baptist Church in Columbia with the Rev. Floyd Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Mr. Granger was born Dec. 14, 1917, in Henry County.

Mrs. Pearly Lee Harrison of Samson died Monday, Feb. 24, 2003, in Mizell Hospital after an extended illness. He was 88. Funeral arrangements may be obtained by calling Pittman Funeral Home of Samson, 898-7141.

Mrs. Frances May Higginbottom age 70 of Ozark died Monday morning February 24, 2003 in Flowers Hospital Dothan Alabama. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Chaplain John W. Withrock, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday from the Funeral Home. Family will receive friends during these hours. She was preceded in death by her husband Shelby Leon Higginbottom and a sister Ruby Gunderson.

The Rev. Jake C. Jones of Graceville, Fla., passed Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, in the Washington County Convalescent Center in Chipley, Fla. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Fla.

Mr. John Edward Jordan, of Ozark, died Saturday, Feb. 22 at his residence. He was 76. Mr. Jordan worked in a steel mill when World War II started and then he joined the Army. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired from the army after 27 years of service.

Burial will be in Piney Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will be plaed in the chapel one hour prior to the service.

Patricia Ann Taylor Smith, of Hugh Street, Ashford, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Tharel Shirah officiating and Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of her mother, Estelle Taylor, 600 Donna Drive, Dothan, Tuesday. Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. Sarah Alice Mills Smith of Golden Lane Road in Blakely, Ga., died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at her residence. She was 65. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Dr. James Hilburn officiating. Burial will be in the Blakely Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted. Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Early County, Ga., the daughter of the late Robert Floyd Mills and Mable Duke Gilham. She was a member of the Springfield Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Sam Smith; one daughter, Debra Barlow; husband, David Smith; and one grandson, Kris Stanley.

Merle Helen Windsor, a resident of Dade City, Florida (formerly of Ashford), died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at Heritage Park Care Center in Dade City. She was 72 years of age. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at Ashford City Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Katharine Stribling "Kay" Bryson of Panama City, Fla., and a former resident of Dothan, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Memory Hill Cemetery with Father Tom Waller officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Parish Hall of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity in Dothan. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302 or Grace Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 9087, Panama City Beach, Fla. 32417.
