Ms. Ruby Davis Carson, age 82, a resident of Springfield, Ohio; (formerly of Gordon) died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001 after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be announced later by Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jo Lynette Tice, age 61, of Ashford, died Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001 at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at 11 a.m. from Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Ricky Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Box 2127, Dothan, 36302.

Mrs. Mattie L. Davis, 77, 805 E. Lafayette Street, Dothan, passed Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be today at 3 p.m. from Rocky Mt. Freewill Baptist Church in Tumbleton with the Rev. A. Crews officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Levite Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Jessie Mae McClyde, 62, Gordon, passed Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001 at her residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. from St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Gordon with the Rev. James A. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Levite Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1:30 until 5 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight.

Oscar Fleshman, 61, 401 Bowden Street, Brundidge, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center South, Montgomery. Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at 1 p.m. from Brundidge United Methodist church with the Rev. Jimmy Spikes officiating. Burial will follow at Daleville Memorial with Dillard Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be a 30 minute lie-in-state prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Brundidge Methodist Church Bus Fund.

Ralph Leon Sestak, 61, of 1001 Wimbledon Drive, died early Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001 at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Navy chaplain and the Rev. Therell Shirah officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, 36302.

Perry Jean Fralish
Perry Jean Fralish, age 52, a native of Ariton, died at his home in Cameron Park, Calif. on June 3, 2000 after an extended illness. His funeral was in Sacramento, Calif. on June 10, 2000. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2000 at the Ariton United Methodist Church in Ariton. All friends and relatives are invited to attend and remain following the service for family visitation in the church’s fellowship hall.

Mrs. Eunice Dozier, 99, of 305 South Ussery Street, Dothan, passed Monday, June 19, 2000 at Ft. Gaines Nursing Home in Ft. Gaines, Ga. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be announced later by Levite Funeral Home of Dothan.

Elder Samuel Beachum of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Dothan, passed Saturday, June 17, 2000 at Tacoma, Wash. Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be announced later by Levite Funeral Home of Dothan.

J. B. Hollis
ESTO --- Mr. J. B. Hollis, age 87, of Esto, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at Campbellton-Graceville Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at the Bethany Baptist Church, Esto, Fla., with the Rev. Leonard Peters and Rev. Mitchell Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Meadowlawn Funeral Home of Hartford directing. Mr. Hollis’s body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services.

Evelyn Law Hughes
Evelyn Law Hughes, 86, 200 Bruce St., Apt 49, Troy, died Monday, June 19, 2000 in Edge Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at graveside 10 a.m. today in the Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with the Rev. Craig Holmes and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

G. Marvin Lewis Jr.
G. Marvin Lewis Jr., 84, of 1174 Honeysuckle Road, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Lawson Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time today.

Leonard Hayward Johnson
Leonard Hayward Johnson, 91, of 1041 Fir Street, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at his residence. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Byrd Funeral Home.

Tina M. “Tiny” Polston
Mrs. Tina M. “Tiny” Polston, 68, of Graceville, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at the Mariner Health Care in Bonifay, Fla. following an extended illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2000 at New Bayview Church of God of Prophecy with Rev. Wayne Fussell and Rev. Herbert Foskey officiating. Burial will be in East Mt. Zion Cemetery with James & Lipford Funeral Home officiating. Family will receive friends at the funeral home 7-9 Thursday night.

Willene M. Walker
Willene M. Walker of 104 Daven Port Street, Headland, died Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Flowers Hospital, Dothan. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Headland Peoples Funeral Home.

Joe Wesley Hughes
Mr. Joe Wesley Hughes, 40, of Dothan, devoted father, loving husband, brother and son, left this world to be with his savior on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at 9:35 a.m. Wesley passed after bravely battling lung and bone cancer for several months. He leaves behind two sons, Shane, age 10, and Cody, age 8, as well as a stepdaughter, Ashley, age 13. He also leaves his devoted wife, Debbie Hughes, his mother, Sue Ellison, his brother, Don E., and his sister, Karen Lake, of Huntsville, as well as several nieces and nephews. His father, Bernie Hughes, predeceased him in 1995. Wesley elected to spend his last days at home under the loving care of his family, friends and the Community Care Hospice. Many of his loved ones were at his bedside to celebrate his home going. Songs, hymns and prayers were offered, and his pastor, the Rev. Billy Duncan of Heritage Baptist Church, was present to give comfort to all. Wesley was an enthusiastic soccer and baseball dad who dedicated many hours to developing his sons’ skills and sportsmanship. The family enjoyed church, camping, boating, fishing and all other outdoor activities, as often as possible. Wesley was very disarming and engaging and had the wonderful ability to bring laughter and true friendship to all that met him. Recently he stated that the best thing that a person could do is “First thing in the morning when our feet hit the floor ask God to help you not to harm anyone by word or deed.” He will be profoundly missed. The family will receive visitors this evening from 6 to 8 at Kent-Thornton Funeral Home. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Heritage Baptist Church conducted by Dr. J.W. Lee. Interment will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an education trust account for Shane and Cody in care of Merrill Lynch at 704 Honeysuckle Road, Dothan, Ala., 36305. The family wishes to extend special thanks to friends, neighbors, coworkers and management at Bondy’s Ford, the members of the Heritage Baptist Church family, and Community Care Hospice for their great concern, love and support during this time.

Glen Mims
Mr. Glen Mims of Samson, 79, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Wiregrass Medical Center, after a brief illness. Funeral services are 10 a.m. today at Pittman Funeral Home with the Rev. Kermit Bowers officiating. Burial is in Shade Grove Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Mims was born May 30, 1921 in Samson to the late W.D. and Ira Mae Jones Mims. He was a World War II veteran. Mr. Mims is survived by his wife, Ethel Mims of Samson; seven sons, Winford Willard Mims of Daleville, Bobby Ray Mims of Bonifay, Fla., Anthony Lee Mims, Tony Mims, and Max Zurue Mims, all of Samson, Emmett Wayne Mims of Chancellor, and Scotty Mims of Kinston; one brother, Fred Mims of San Salvador, Texas; two sisters, Ann Moore of Geneva, and Jeanette McAdams of New Hope, Fla., 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Ruby Wilson Clark
Mrs. Ruby Wilson Clark, 89, of the New Providence Community, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, in Chipley, Fla. Funeral arrangements may be obtained by calling Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home.

William Quency McLendon
Mr. William Quency McLendon, 77, of Dothan, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 13, 2000, at his home, following an extended illness. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later.

Lucille Elliott Sanders
Mrs. Lucille Elliott Sanders, 81, of 87 Wallace Buie Road, Webb, died early Sunday morning, Aug. 13, 2000, at her home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Holman-Headland Mortuary. The family will be at the home of a daughter, Noma Faye Snellgrove in Webb. Mrs. Sanders was born and reared in the Camp Springs community of Henry County, the daughter of Jack Elliott and Hattie Kirkland Elliott. She lived most of her life in Webb. Mrs. Sanders formerly owned and operated The Dog House, a Dothan restaurant located on North Foster Street. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert (Buck) Sanders; a son, Jerry Albert Sanders; a son-in-law, Ray Snellgrove; a sister, Ruby Hand; and three brothers, George Elliott Sr., Frank Elliott and Shelby Elliott. Survivors include two daughters, Noma Faye Snellgrove of Webb, and Rachell Benton of Newton, and her husband Malcolm Benton; a son, Kenneth Ray Tate, and his wife, Bridget Tate, of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Lillie Livingston of Columbus, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Brian Sanders, Tami S. Scott, Cathy S. Keasler, Tony Benton, Steven Benton, Ray Tate, and Rhonda Buckingham; and 13 great-grandchildren. Serving as active pallbearers will be George Elliott Jr., Bobby Joe Elliott, Jackie Elliott, Larry Elliott, Ronnie Elliott and Kerry Laseter.

Blanche Peel Jones
Ms. Blanche Peel Jones, 86, of Tallahassee, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000. Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tallahassee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home Riggins Road Chapel. A native of Malvern, Mrs. Jones lived in Tallahassee since 1955. She was employed by the Florida State University Bookstore for 15 years before her retirement and was formerly employed with Avis. She was of the Protestant faith. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Arnett and Doris Peel of Dallas; her daughter and son-in-law, June and Charlie Gray of Tallahassee; grandchildren Pam and Tommy Nobles Jr. of Eastpoint, Fla., and Cindy Gray of Tallahassee, and a nephew, Houston Junior Quattlebaum and his wife, Lucille, of Dothan.

Brian Thomas Gleason
FORT POLK, La. - Brian Thomas Gleason, age 20, of Fort Polk, La. (U. S. Army), died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, in Fort Polk, La., from injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral services are 4 p.m. today from the Enterprise Church of God with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Meadowlawn Cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 until 9 p.m. The body will be placed into the church one hour before service time today. The family will be at the home of his mother and stepfather, Tammy and Ken Persin, Highway 167 North, Enterprise. Brian was a 1999 graduate of Enterprise High School where he was a member of the Enterprise High School Wildcat football team. He was also a member of the Enterprise Church of God. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army where he was presently serving as a military police officer in the 209th MP Company in Fort Polk, La. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vantrice Treadaway, step-paternal grandfather, George Andrews, and his grandmother, Hazel Andrews. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Tammy and Ken Persin, New Brockton; his father, Thomas Dillard Gleason, Lakeland, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Betty Treadaway, Enterprise; two sisters, Kendall Persin, New Brockton, Jessica Persin, Brandon, Fla.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Pearline Harvey
Memorial Home going Celebration for the Rev. Mrs. Pearline Harvey, 65, will be held Monday, August 14, 2000, at 6 p.m. The Good Shepherd Full Gospel Baptist Church, 1215 Leona Street, Dothan, Overseer Eugene Leonard Sr., officiating. The Rev. Harvey, formerly of 62 Johnson Homes, Dothan, passed away on Aug. 2, 2000, after an extended illness at Jackson Hospital, Marianna, Fla.

Willie B. Smith, 69, of 1112 McCardle Road, Kinsey, passed Friday, August 11, 2000, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Dothan.

Anna M. Replogle
Anna M. Replogle, 76, of Malvern, died Saturday morning, Aug. 12, 2000, at her home. An informal memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today at the home of her son, Tom Replogle, at 638 Whitaker Road, Dothan. The Rev. Orrin Barrett will officiate. Byrd Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Reuben Daughtry
ENTERPRISE - Mr. Reuben Daughtry, 89, of Enterprise, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 11, 2000. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Burney Reese officiating. Burial will be in the Enterprise City Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 6 p.m.

Burial will follow in the church’s cemetery with Kent-Thornton Funeral Home directing.
