Daniel J. Bradley, major (USAF) retired, of Dothan, died peacefully at his home April 12, 2003, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71.A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at St. Columba Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Gallagher officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Byrd Funeral Home with the wake service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Darrion Clarke of Newville died Friday, April 11, 2003, in Mobile after a brief illness. He was33. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date along with a complete list of survivors by Varner Memorial Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-671-1455.

James Foy Deese, a former resident of Webb, died early Saturday morning, April 5, 2003, at Oakview Manor Health Care Center in Ozark. He was 82.Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Sunday, April 13 during Webb Baptist Church worship services with a eulogy to be given by Barbara Nowell Lindsey. A private burial was held Saturday, April 5 at Mt. Ararat Baptist Cemetery in Webb, with Holman-Headland Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Garnet Michelle Garvin of Montgomery, formerly of Abbeville, died Friday morning, April 1, 2003, as the result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident which occurred on Alabama Highway 25, between Centreville and Montevallo. She was 33.Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14 at Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Poteat officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alabama Historical Commission Foundation, P.O. Box 4306, Montgomery, Ala. 36103.

Louis Solomon Harris Jr. of County Road 97, Abbeville, died early Saturday morning, April 12, 2003, at his home after a extended illness.Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 14 at Lakeside Christian Fellowship Cemetery with the Rev. Mickey Skinner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary in Abbeville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice of Eufaula, 831 W. Washington St., Eufaula, Ala. 36027 or to Lakeside Christian Fellowship, P.O. Maj. Joseph L. Maxwell, USAF retired, of Shalimar, Fla., died Friday, April 11, 2003, at Westwood Nursing Home in Shalimar following an illness. He was 70.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors. Interment with full military honors will be at Crown Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cathy Lynn Mixon of Sowell Loop, Bonifay, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 10, 2003. She was 40.Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 14 at East Pittman Baptist Church, County Road 179, Bonifay, Fla., with the Rev. Wesley Adams officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home of Geneva.

Mrs. Lorraine Wetzel Olive of Ozark died late Friday evening, April 11, 2003, at Extendicare Hospice of Dothan. She was 48.Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-4551.

Emma Whitley Reyes, a resident of Riverview Forest Estates on Lake Eufaula, Abbeville, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at her residence. She was 60.Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Adoniram Baptist Cemetery, near Abbeville, with the Rev. Mickey Skinner officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary in Abbeville.

Mrs. Nevada Jackson Sabre of Cocoa Beach, Fla., formerly of Columbia) died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at Cape Canaveral Hospital in Cocoa Beach, Fla., after a sudden illness. She was 72.Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Mr. Ararat Baptist Church Cemetery in Webb. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

Felix Brown Whatley of Broad Street, Kinsey, died early Saturday morning, April 12, 2003, in a Dothan hospital following an extended illness. He was 80.Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Monday, April 14 at Kinsey Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Wingate, the Rev. Robert Strickland and the Rev. James Rich officiating. Burial will follow at Kinsey Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland. Terry Cox of Roy Martin Road, Dothan, passed away Friday morning, April 18, 2003, in a Dothan hospital following a short illness. He was 54. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, April 20 at Memory Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Holman-Headland Mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of his mother, Nettie Cox, 506 Roy Martin Road, Dothan (near Hodgesville).

Dr. John A. Edwards of Dothan went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2003. He was 77. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim McNeil, the Rev. Glenn Poston and Dr. Larry Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Eloise Arant Ellis of Birmingham died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, following a brief illness at Brookwood Medical Center. She was 81. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home in Trussville. Graveside services will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Ellis' name to Big Oak Boys Ranch, 250 Jake Mintz Road, Gadsden, Ala. 35905.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Wallace Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 20 at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence. The family will be accepting flowers.

Mr. Thomas Eugene Haney of Samson died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Wiregrass Medical Center after a brief illness. He was 67. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at Liberty Chapel Cemetery with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating.

Mr. Richard Lee Hayes Jr. of Cynthia Drive, Dothan, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, in the emergency room at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 24. Complete arrangements and a list of survivors will be announced by Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-792-4194.

Services for Kathleen Merle Smith Herring, 82, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at Frederick's Funeral Home in Opelika. Visitation will be 10 a.m. preceeding the funeral. Graveside serviced will be 3 p.m. at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Dothan.

James Olan "Moppy" Boyd of Caledonia, Mich., passed away April 11, 2003. He was 84.The funeral was held on Monday, April 14, 2003, in the Ofield Chapel. Pastor Sean Kidd officiated. Interment was held in Rosedale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Hearthstone Assisted Living in Kentwood or American Heart Association.
