Martha Beckwith of Folkston, Ga., formerly of Jackson County, Fla., passed away Monday, May 5, 2003, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross, Ga. She was 89. Funeral arrangements and a list of survivors will be announced by Unity Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-792-5169.

Pauline Tice Burke of Abbeville died early Tuesday morning, May 6, 2003, at her home after an extended illness. She was 75. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Oakey Grove Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Don Adams officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the sanctuary of Oakey Grove Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Oakey Grove Baptist Church, c/o Joe Dickerson, 3248 County Road 99, Newville, Ala. 36353 or Covenant Hospice, 207 W. Adams St., Dothan, Ala. 36303.

Mrs. Virginia "Lady" Cook Butler of Demopolis and Andalusia died Monday, May 5, 2003, at her Andalusia residence. She was 72. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Keahey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Butler Family Cemetery in Covington County.

Mrs. Edith Clifton of Barker Mill Road, Samson, (Reese Community) formerly of Naples, Fla., passed away Monday, May 5, 2003, at Wiregrass Medical Center in Geneva after a brief illness. She was 90. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fuller Funeral Home in Naples, Fla. Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva, 334-684-9999, is in charge of local arrangements.

Jeanine Hasty Davidson of Omussee Road, Dothan, died Tuesday morning, May 6, 2003, at her home after an extended illness. She was 69. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8 at Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Gary Younkers, the Rev. Wallace M. Duke and Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302 or to the Old Webb Road Baptist Church, P.O. Box 118, Webb, Ala. 36376.

The family of Lewie Edward Finley of Dothan rejoices at his homegoing following a brief illness. He was 72. Mary O. Franklin of Columbus, Ga., and a former resident of Dothan, died at Oak Manor Nursing Home in Columbus Saturday, May 3, 2003. She was 93. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Memory Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Gross officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Central Georgia Chapter of American Red Cross, 3940 Rosemont Drive, Columbus, Ga. 31904 or Hilton Terrace Baptist Church, 2236 Warm Springs Road, Columbus, Ga. 31904.

Mrs. Elizabeth Outlaw Gafford of Birmingham and formerly of the Poplar Head Community died Monday, May 5, 2003, in Birmingham after an extended illness. She was 89. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva, 334-684-2600.

Mr. Lewis Kirkpatrick of Kinston died Monday, May 5, 2003, at the family residence after an extended illness. He was 80. Funeral services will be announced by Pittman Funeral Home of Samson.

Duncan David Livingston of Tallahassee died Monday, May 5, 2003, in Tallahassee. He was 82. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. (EDT) Thursday, May 8 at Bevis Funeral Home Chapel in Tallahassee. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Malone, Fla. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Project, 1700 Meridian Road, Tallahassee, Fla. 32303, American Lung Association, 539 Scotty Lane, Suite A., Tallahassee, Fla. 32303 or Florida Baptist Children's Home, 8415 Buck Lake Road, Tallahassee, Fla. 32311.

Mrs. Margaret Snell Payne of the Asbury Community in Dale County died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Naples, Fla. She was 82. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Holman Funeral Home of Ozark, 334-774-5348.

Mrs. Essie V. Sellers of Granger Street, Cottonwood, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Flowers Hospital. She was 83. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home Chapel in Dothan. Burial will follow at Cottonwood City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Willie Belle (Paschal) Stephenson of Elba died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Elba General Hospital in Elba. She was 91. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8 at Enterprise City Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Duhaime officiating. Burial will follow at Searcy Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Clarice Merle (Jones) Stewart of State Hwy. 85, Chancellor, passed on to be with the Lord Monday, May 5, 2003, at her residence after a brief illness. She was 88. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Geneva with the Rev. Gary Armstrong, the Rev. Don Tew and the Rev. Michael Lawler officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Methodist Church Cemetery.

Nghiem Van Tran of Dothan died Sunday, May 4, 2003. He was 57. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Bieu Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Byrd Funeral Home. The wake service will be held 6:00 p.m. Friday night at St. Columba Catholic Church.

Mr. Ray Weed of Ariton, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at his home. He was 90. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 8 at Holman Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with the Rev. Franklin Bird officiating. Interment will follow at Universalist Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Holman Funeral Home, 995 S. Union Ave., Ozark. Mary Stinson Bailey, a resident of the Capps community, near Abbeville, died early Monday morning, May 5, 2003, in the Ft. Gaines Nursing Home in Ft. Gaines, Ga., after an extended illness. She was 91. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Ray S. Reiley and Rev. John W. Helton Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Abbeville Mortuary directing. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

Wilma Doris Chambers of Linmar Avenue in Fruitland Park, Fla., died Sunday, May 4, 2003. She was 77. The funeral for Mrs. Chambers will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Leesburg First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Ed Bell officiating. Family and friends may call at Leesburg First Assembly of God Church on Tuesday, May 6, 2003, from 10 until 11 a.m. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla.

Mary Ford, a resident of Wesley Manor Nursing Home, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 81. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the St. Peter Baptist Church, Texasville, Ala., with the Rev. Jerry Bennett, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Varner Memorial Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2003, from 3-6 p.m. at Varner Memorial Funeral Home chapel.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Rev. Bob Gross officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing.

Dr. James D. Griffin Jr., of 1403 Tacoma Street died unexpectedly Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Flowers Hospital. He was 77. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003 at Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Doug MacCormack officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing.

Willie C. (Peanut) Hasty, a Dothan resident, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2003, at Pike Manor, Troy, following an extended illness. He was 80 years of age. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the New Hope Cemetery (New Hope Community, Coffee County) with Rev. Dennis Singletary officiating and Southern Heritage Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 9 until 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Revelt Jones of Linden Street in Dothan died Sunday, May 4, 2003, at his home after an extended illness. He was 96. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date along with a complete list of survivors by Varner Memorial Funeral Home,.

Linda Faye Kirkland, of Black, died Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Mariner Health Care in Bonifay. She was 47. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 2 p.m. in the Adoniran Baptist Church in Black with the Rev. John Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Black Community Cemetery with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home of Hartford directing. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Hartford.

Charlie Neal of Dothan passed Sunday, May 4, 2003, at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 89. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Scott s Chapel Hill Mortuary, 701 Dalevile Ave., Enterprise, with Rev. Robert L. Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Enterprise. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, at 1 p.m. Family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home, 1039 Range St., Dothan.

Madie Shelley, a resident of County Road 287, Shorterville, a former resident of the Tumbleton community, died early Sunday morning, May 4, 2003, in the Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. She was 96. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in the Balkum Baptist Church with Rev. Winford Gulledge and Rev. Brad Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary directing.

The Rev. Jesse Gene Adkins of Victorville, Calif., formerly of Dothan and Pensacola, Fla., died Saturday, May 10, 2003. He was 76. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2003, at First Assembly of God Church in Victorville, Calif. Interment will follow in Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
