Stella Dorriety, 91, a resident of Hartford Health Care in Hartford, died Feb. 2, 2002 after an extended illness. The funeral was held Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Hartford Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Clergyman Mike Turner of Southern Care Hospice officiating. Burial was in Hartford City Cemetery with Hartford Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Gregory E. Norris, 53, of Geneva, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Wiregrass Medical Center, Geneva. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home, Geneva, with the Rev. Coy Haney officiating. Burial will follow in Pondtown Cemetery with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Ruth Rottan, 81, of Samson, Ala., died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home in Geneva, with the Rev. Grady Driggers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home directing.

Anita D. Slade, of 26 Logan St. Fort Rucker, passed Tuesday Feb. 12, 2002. Funeral arrangements are incomplete but will be announced later by Scott’s Chapel Hill Mortuary.

George E. Dryden, 99, of Marianna, died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002, at Jackson Hospital. The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Maddox Chapel with Rev. Parson Bill Breyfogle officiating. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James and James Funeral Home, Maddox Chapel directing.

Nettie Owens Maloy went to join the Lord on Feb. 3, 2002, after a long illness at her home in Samson. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at New Home Baptist Church. Burial will be at Travelers Rest Cemetery preceding the service. Visitation will be 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. The family has asked that donations are given to Community Care Hospice in Enterprise, or New Home Baptist Church of Samson, or flowers are sent.

Lillian Morris Day, 85, of County Road 43, Samson, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in Wiregrass Nursing Home after an extended illness. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home, Samson, with the Rev. Earl Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home Wednesday.

Annie Mae Elmore, 91, of 1819 Saint Mary Road, Cottonwood, died Monday morning, Aug. 5, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a short illness. Funeral services will be held 11a.m. today at Hodgesville Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Gainous and the Rev. John Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Elmore will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Thursday.

Frances B. Mock, of 2106 Stonebridge Road, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, 2002, at Flowers Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gillis Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Magnolia Cemetery in Evergreen Ala., with Byrd Funeral Home directing.

Clyde Reese, 51, of 4002 Richland Road, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Byrd Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Hollmon officiating. Burial will follow at New Miranda Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. Friday. Mr. Reese will be placed in the chapel one hour prior to the service Saturday.

James Chambers, 79, of Bonifay passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Northside Assembly of God Church in Bonifay. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla., with Peel Funeral Home directing and the Rev. Ed Bell officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northside Assembly of God Church, Bonifay, Fla.

Ethel Mae Roberts Harris, 82, a resident of Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of Dale County, died early Tuesday morning, Aug. 6, 2002, in the center after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Kilpatrick and the Rev. Frank Fagan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory.

Theophilus (Knot) Craddock, 72, of Fitzgerald, Ga., died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church in Headland with Pastor A. Lovett officiating and Headland Peoples Funeral Home directing. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Little Rocky Mt., Tumbleton. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the chapel at Headland Peoples Funeral Home.

Mr. Henry Clark Sr., 83, of Campbellton, Fla., passed away Monday evening, Aug. 5, 2002, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Springfield A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Nathan Brown, the Rev. O.W. Waddell, the Rev. Arlester McCalister and Prophet Willie Clark officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery with Christian Memorial Chapel of Graceville, Fla., directing. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Olene Hall, 90, of Samson died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, in a Montgomery Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Piney Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. Lynda Stewart Culpepper, 41, of Chancellor, Ala., died Thursday, July 11, 2002, at her home in Chancellor. Funeral arrangements may be obtained by calling Searcy Funeral Home.

Joy Camp Arnold, 79, of 218 W. Washington St., Abbeville, died late Friday afternoon, July 12, 2002, in a Dothan hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the Abbeville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ray Kelly, the Rev. Ernest M. Andress and Mr. John Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Holman-Abbeville Mortuary directing. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3 p.m. today in the Abbeville United Methodist Church Family Life Center. Juanita Ethridge Clemmons, 83, of 5580 E. State Hwy. 52, Webb, Ala., died Friday morning, July 12, 2002, at her home after an extended illness. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today in Gardens of Memory with the Rev. James A. Rich and the Rev. Wallace M. Duke officiating and Holman-Headland Mortuary directing. The family received friends from 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, Inc., P.O. Mildred Marion Watkins, 86, a resident of Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany, Ga., formerly of Headland, died early Friday morning, July 12, 2002, in the nursing home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. (CDT) today in the Headland Methodist Cemetery in Headland with the Rev. Charles W. Price Jr. officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Judith Campbell Slay, 80, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2002, at Flowers Hospital after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at 2603 Marquette Dr., Dothan. Mabel Sanders Merritt, 52, a resident of 3193 S. County Rd. 55, Ashford, died Saturday, July 13, 2002, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Ashford. Burial will follow in the Ashford City Cemetery with Ward-Wilson Memory Funeral Home directing. John B. "J. B." Chapman, 96, of 6627 J. B. Chapman Rd., Midland City, died Saturday morning, July 13, 2002, at Westside Terrace following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Dr. Ralph Brannon, the Rev. J. D. Templeton and the Rev. Gene Gainous officiating. Lloyd Franklin Morgan, 61, of 676 Westgate Parkway, died Saturday morning, July 13, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Byrd Funeral Home.

Mrs. Ruth H. Barnes, of Enterprise, formerly of Geneva, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Enterprise. She was 98. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. today at Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Mike Shirah officiating. Burial will follow in the Eden Baptist Church Cemetery with Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home in Enterprise directing.

Dwight Brandon of Chancellor died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, at his home. He was 86. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Cliff Quincey and Dr. Ralph Brannon officiating. Burial will be in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Laura Daye of 242 Boykin Ave., Ozark, died Monday morning, Sept. 30, 2002, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark. She was 71. The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at First Missionary Baptist Church on East Andrew Avenue in Ozark. Burial will be in the Ozark City Cemetery with Dr. S.C. Jackson officiating. The family will be at the residence, 242 Boykin Ave. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ozark Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Edna Ruth Durden of 210 Windover, Enterprise, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at her residence after an extended illness. She was 78. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. EDT Friday at Hubert C. Mr. Joe Edgar of Enterprise died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in the Medical Center Enterprise. He was 86. The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sam Williams, the Rev. Charles McGlothren and the Rev. Terrell Green officiating. Burial will be in the New Brockton City Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. Harry Hubert McNeil of 494 Lawrence St., Slocomb, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the family residence. He was 76. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanley Carter and the Rev. John Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Slocomb City Cemetery with full Masonic rites and Sorrells Funeral Home of Slocomb directing. Ronald C. Smith, a Eufaula resident, who dedicated his life to those in need, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at his residence. He was 62. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Mr. David L. Downie, a resident of Ozark, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in Oakview Manor Nursing Home Facility in Ozark. He was 60. Mr. John L. Whitehead, who served in the European-Pacific Theater in the 88th Infantry Division, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at his residence in Cottonwood. He was 81.
