Mr. Barnes E. Henderson of Madrid died Friday, July 11, 2003, in Dothan at a daughter's residence after an extended illness. He was 88. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Madrid Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jerry Harden officiating. Burial will follow at Madrid City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Kent-Thornton-Meadows Funeral Home in Dothan. At other times the family will be at the Henderson residence, 796 Decatur Road, Madrid. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36302.

Mrs. Gladys Thomley Hubbard, a resident of Oakview Manor Health Care Center in Ozark, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003, after an extended illness. She was 89. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at Pilgrims Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Buddy Hood officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services.

Mr. Marvell McLain of Ariton died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at his residence. He was 64. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Ariton. Burial will be at Travelers Rest Cemetery in Ozark with the Rev. L.A. Bonds, pastor, officiating.

Jane Lasseter Thomas of Country Hollow Farm, near Ariton, died July 10, 2003. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. Memorial contributions in Jane's name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2345 W. Main St., Suite 3, Dothan, Ala. 36301 or Wiregrass Hospice, 1970 E. Andrews Ave., Ozark, Ala. 36360.

Ms. Jane Ward of Hodgesville Road, Dothan, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 44. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Harper's Joy Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Eddie Littlefield and David McCord officiating. Burial will follow at Burns Assembly of God Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Ms. Ward's brother, Greg Ward, 250 Todd St., Cottonwood. Flowers will be accepted.

Walter B. Whatley of Calumet Plantation, North State Highway 95, Columbia, died Monday afternoon, July 7, 2003, at Wesley Manor Retirement Home in Dothan. He was 94. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at Columbia Presbyterian Church with Mr. Lewis Albert Ward Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Columbia City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Columbia, P.O. Box 77, Columbia, Ala. 36319.

Michael L. Allen of Robin Lane, Enterprise, died Thursday evening, July 10, 2003, at Medical Center Enterprise after an apparent heart attack. He was 60. Funeral arrangements and survivors will be announced by Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise, 334-347-9598.

Eloise C. Brown of Ozark Road, Newville, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at her residence after an extended illness. She was 67. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 15 at St. Peter A.M.E. Church in Headland with the Rev. G.L. Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Byrd Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Wednesday.

Myrtle Campbell Brown of County Road 53, Clayton, died Friday morning, July 11, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center in Montgomery after a short illness. She was 86. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, near Texasville, with the Rev. C.L. Culpepper and the Rev. Tommy Fortune officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary in Abbeville. Neal John Clark of Dothan, died Thursday night, July 10, 2003, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was 16. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 14 at Memphis Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow at he church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at Southern Heritage Funeral Home. Mr. C.E. Dowling of the Wicksburg community died Monday night, July 7, 2003, at his residence. He was 76. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 11 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Buddy Hood and the Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church. Wanda Jane (Truett) Dube of Mesilla Park, N.M. (formerly of Dothan), passed away Friday, June 27, 2003, after a long illness. She was 58. At her request, cremation has taken place.
