Richard John "Dick" Kramer of Falkirk Drive passed away suddenly Monday, July 14, 2003, at Flowers Hospital. He was 77. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Covenant United Methodist Church with Dr. Hays McKay officiating.

Rita R. Meyer of Galaxie Drive, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Jackson County Convalescent Center in Graceville, Fla., after a brief illness. She was 84. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton, Ark., with Harris Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. Byrd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Michael A. Petretta of Ocean City, N.J., and formerly of Slocomb, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Shore Memorial Hospital in New Jersey after a brief illness. He was 79. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John W. Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at Tabernacle Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from noon to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Dhirajlal Chunilal Shah of Ft. Gaines, Ga., died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at his residence. He was 67. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-702-1712.

Myrtle Campbell Brown of County Road 53, Clayton, died Friday morning, July 11, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center, South, in Montgomery, after a short illness. She was 86. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at New Prospect Free Will Baptist Church, near Texasville, with the Rev. C.L. Culpepper and the Rev. Tommy Fortune officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Sykes Creek Baptist Cemetery Fund, c/o Betty Kendrick, 2043 Highway 10, Clio, Ala. 36017.

Miron Lavon Bryan of Bascom, Fla., died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at his residence. He was 67. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. (CDT) Tuesday, July 15 at First Baptist Church of Bascom with the Rev. Shelton Kindig, the Rev. Greg Roberts and the Rev. Johnnie Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Neal John Clark of Dothan died Thursday night, July 10, 2003, from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was 16. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 14 at Memphis Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home Crematory. Mrs. Dorothy Merle Brookins Granger of Junaluska Avenue, Dothan, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2003. She was 80. Van Gauthe of Calvary Baptist Church and Dr. Cecil Sanders of First Baptist Church of Headland officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Mr. Barnes E. Henderson of Madrid died Friday, July 11, 2003, in Dothan at a daughter's residence after an extended illness. He was 88. Lula Moody Hovater died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville. She was 96. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 14 at Wetumpka City Cemetery in Wetumpka with Dr. Thomas H. Williams, her nephew, officiating.

Mrs. Norma Jean Smith Johnson of Peartree Circle, Dothan, died early Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center after an extended illness. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 14 at Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Frank Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. William Douglas (Doug) Searcy of Clopton died late Friday afternoon, July 11, 2003, at Dale Medical Center in Ozark after an extended illness. He was 47. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at New Hope Baptist Cemetery, Bertha community, with the Rev. Dan Sheppard officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Baptist fellowship hall. Ms. Jane Ward of Hodgesville Road, Dothan, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 44. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at Harper's Joy Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Eddie Littlefield and David McCord officiating. Burial will follow at Burns Assembly of God Church Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Mrs. Christine Sylvia Daniels of Dothan died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 73. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17 at St. Columba Catholic Church in Dothan with Father Bieu Nguyen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
