Mr. George McNiel Jr. of Pansey passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. He was 84. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Ward-Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home of Dothan, 334-792-4194.

Rita R. Meyer of 1401 Galaxie Drive, Dothan, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Jackson County Convalescent Center in Graceville, Fla., after a brief illness. She was 84. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morrilton, Ark., with Harris Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at Harris Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with the Rosary beginning at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6267, Dothan, Ala. 36302, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 930850, Atlanta, Ga. 31193-0850 or Scared Heart School, c/o Father Charles Thessing, 506 E. Broadway Street, Morrilton, Ark. 72110.

Mr. Michael A. Petretta of Ocean City, N.J., and formerly of Slocomb, died Friday, July 11, 2003, in the Shore Memorial Hospital in New Jersey after a brief illness. He was 79. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John W. Hicks officiating. Burial will followed at Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery.

Kathleen T. Robertson of State Highway 10, West, Abbeville, died Tuesday night, July 15, 2003, at a Dothan hospital after a brief illness. She was 80. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 18 at Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Doug Newsome and Elder Marcus Petty officiating. Burial will follow at Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.

Mr. Dean Robinett of Clio died Wednesday morning, July 16, 2003, at a Dothan hospital. He was 68. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, July 18 at Clio Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Rich officiating. Burial will follow at Pea River Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Keahey Funeral Home in Clio, and at the church one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Lovie Sport of Andalusia died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at a Mobile hospital. She was 83. Funeral services are incomplete and will be announced by Keahey Funeral Home of Andalusia, 334-222-8440.

Mrs. Patricia JoAnn Means Bowdoin, a longtime resident of Prattville, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at the family residence in Prattville after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 68. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Patterson-Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise, 334-347-9598.

Mrs. Oneita Cox Collins of Tim Helms Road, Slocomb (Wicksburg Community), died Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Flowers Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was 87. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy White, the Rev. John W. Hicks and the Rev. Bill Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Slocomb.

James Winston "Winkie" Cook of Dothan died Wednesday afternoon, July 16, 2003, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer, as his family stood around his bedside. He was 73. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Byrd Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest O'Neal of Memphis Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the residence at 205 Fairway Drive. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, Ala. 36303.

Edna Grace Davis of Valdosta, Ga., passed away Friday, July 18, 2003. She was 86. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at Park Avenue Methodist United Church in Valdosta, Ga. A family graveside service will be Monday, July 21 at Christian Hill Cemetery in Midland City, Ala. Flowers may be sent to Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.

Mrs. Alma Pilot Jordan, a native of Souwilpa, Ala., and a longtime resident of Ozark, died Thursday morning, July 17, 2003, in Spanish Fort, Ala. She was 91. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Ozark Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Aman and the Rev. John Frank Lindsey officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday at Ozark Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ozark Baptist Church, 282 S. Union Ave., Ozark, Ala. 36360.

Richard John "Dick" Kramer of Falkirk Drive, Dothan, passed away suddenly Monday, July 14, 2003, at Flowers Hospital. He was 77. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19at Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan with Dr. Hays McKay officiating. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Untied Methodist Church Building Fund, 3610 W. Main St., Dothan, Ala. 36305.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church fellowship hall. Daisy Barnes Thomas of County Road 28, Abbeville, died Thursday morning, July 17, 2003, at her home after a short illness. She was 97. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Adoniram Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Barker, the Rev. Fred Barnes and the Rev. Jerry Worzella officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 207 W. Mary Florence Turner of Mt. Vernon Lane, Dothan, died Thursday morning, July 17, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center after an extended illness. She was 61. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. George Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. Mr. J.E. Willis Jr. of Geneva died Friday, July 18, 2003, at his home after a long illness. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, July 20 at First United Methodist Church of Geneva with the Rev. Michael Lawler, church pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Willis' body will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. Eleanor Eugene Whitehead Allday of Calhoun Road passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003, at Extendicare of Dothan after a brief illness resulting from pancreatic cancer. She was 71. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at First Assembly of God in Eufaula with the Rev. Randy Stokes and the Rev. Carlos Toole officiating. Zion Church on Liberty Avenue, Ozark, with pastor the Rev. Leon Cammack officiating. Burial will be at Old Zion Cemetery in Ozark.

Mr. Jerome "Rip" Goodson of Dothan passed Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at his residence. He was 62. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. James Ray officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after services.
