Roberta Stewart

TUSCALOOSA - Roberta Stewart, age 65, of 3103 Short 19th Street, died October 22, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Druid Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church. Druid Funeral Home is directing.

Henry Sanders

TUSCALOOSA - Henry Sanders, died October 23, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Friday at 12:00 noon at Elizabeth Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park. Visitation is today from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Van Hoose and Steele Main Chapel. The body will lie in state at the church on Friday one hour prior to service. Van Hoose and Steele Funeral Home is directing.

Gladys Myrtle Pope

SOMMERVILLE - Gladys Myrtle Pope, age 91, died October 23, 2001 at Heritage Health Care Center. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Memory Hill Garden. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home, Northport is directing.

Survivors include her sons, Bennie E. Pope, Sommerville; James Eldridge Pope, Niceville, Fla.; William Leonard Pope, Crescent City, Fla.; and Thomas Leon Pope, Pontotoc, Miss.

Sammy Dewitt Massey

KILLEN - Sammie Dewitt Massey, 42, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2001.

Sammie was born in Mississippi on May 25, 1959. He was a 1977 graduate of Pickens County High School.

He was also a graduate of Brewer State Community College and attended the University of Alabama and Samford University. Sammie has lived in Killen for the past five years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Killen.

He was a customer service representative with Royster-Clark, Inc. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 25, 2001 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Elkins East Chapel, Center Star. The service will be at Grant’s Creek Baptist Church, Foster s, Ala., On Friday, October 26, 2001 at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Wyatt Rhone, Bro. David McKelvey and Bro. Randy Pate officiating. The casket will be placed in the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends during that hour. Burial will be in Grant’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Heritage Chapel will handle local arrangements.

He is survived by his loving wife and companion of ten years, Barbara Stamps Massey, Killen; his parents, Raymond Dewitt and Shirley Allen Massey, Reform, AL.; father-in-law and mother –in-law, Thomas and Sara Stamps, Ralph, AL.; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and a host of friends

Pallbearers will be Calvin Poole, Curtis Poole, Jimmy Massey, Charles Massey, Frank Hardy and Nathan Rhone.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist Church, Killen, employees of Royster-Clark, Inc. and friends of Ralph, and Foster communities.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 504 J. C. Mauldin Hwy., P.O. Box 236, Killen, AL 35645, or to the charity of your choice.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of their family, friends, and neighbors for their loving support and prayers.

Infant Barrington Love

TUSCALOOSA - Infant Barrington Love, died October 19, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at West Highland Memorial Gardens. Wills' Funeral Service is directing.

Charles Benton Kervin

REFORM - Charles Benton Kervin, age 62, of 805 7th Street N.W., died October 24, 2001 at his residence. Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial service to be announced at a later date. Skelton Funeral Home is directing.

Luther F. Glover, Sr.

BATON ROUGE, LA - Luther F. Glover, Sr., died October 23, 2001 at Landmark Nursing Home. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Heritage Chapel Funeral Home.

Peggy Norris Donahue

NORTHPORT - Peggy Norris Donahue, age 49, of 12727 Lesueur Road, died October 23, 2001 at her residence. Services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Bonner officiating. Burial will follow in Nazareth Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.

She is preceded in death by her father, John R. Norris, Sr.

Survivors include her daughter, Mandy Skelton (Jonathan); son, Jay Donahue (Shannon); sister, Martha N. Champion (Bill); brother, John R. Norris, Jr. (Janice); mother, Marie Norris; grandson, Evan Donahue; nieces and nephews, Jamey and Matthew Champion, Ashley, Jennifer, John III, and Jacob Norris, and Meghan Adams.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Champion, Marty Sellers, Jarrett Vick, Norman Miller, Lynn Watkins, and Chad Watkins.

Honorary pallbearers are Staff of Hospice of West Alabama, Employees of Sam’s Wholesale, and Staff at the Cancer Center.

John G. Bruner

DUNCANVILLE - John G. Bruner, age 76, died October 23, 2001 at Forest Manor. Graveside services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Memory Hill Gardens with Rev. Douglas Tilley officiating. Visitation is tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

Survivors include his spouse, Mavis King Bruner, daughters, Shirley Bruner, Duncanville; Linda Anderson, Eastaboga; Janice Willingham, Cottondale; sister, Sallie Mae Black, Tuscaloosa; brothers, Albert Bruner, Tuscaloosa; Aubrey Bruner, Northport; seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Sandra W. Yeager

DEMOPOLIS - Sandra W. Yeager, 47, of 1612 Chickasaw Street, died October 25, 2001 at her residence. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Kidd- Robbins Funeral directors.

Jack Willcutt

FAYETTE - Jack Willcutt, age 86, died October 24, 2001, at Fayette Long Term Care Center. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Norwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Gardens with Norwood Chapel of Fayette directing. Visitation will be 5-7 tonight at the funeral home.

James Charles Walden

TUSCALOOSA - James Charles Walden, age 84, of 708 Haymarket Lane, died October 25, 2001, at his residence. Arrangements will be announced later by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South.

Barbara Jones Tuck

EUTAW - Barbara Jones Tuck, age 92, of 507 Mesopotamia Street, died October 24, 2001, in Green e County Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, in Mesopotamia Cemetery with Rev. Milford Walters officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Tuck.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Tuck Magee (Walter Lawrence Magee, Jr.) and Marquerite Tuck Egge (Dr. Ronald Dennise Egge); sister, Narcissa Dulaney, Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandchildren William Lawrence Magee (Melissa), Laura Elizabeth Magee Jockisch (Kevin), Ronald Dennis Egge, Jr. (Nancy), Katherine Michelle Egge; great-grandchildren Amanda Mae Magee, Joseph William Magee and Samuel Lawrence Magee.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Eutaw Christian Church or Green e County Ambulance Service.

Estelle M. Taylor

SALTILLO, MS - Estelle M. Taylor, 81, of 230 County Road, formerly of Buhl, Alabama, died October 22, 2001 in Tupelo, Miss. Services will be held today at 11:00 a.m. at El Bethel Methodist with Rev. David Howell and Rev. Dewey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in El Bethel Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday night, 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service at the church. Sunset Funeral Home is directing.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Tollie O. Taylor; her son, Sgt. Jimmy B. Taylor and parents Charlie and Lou Maddox.

Survivors include her daughters, Geraldine Watkins (Roy), Summerdale, Ala.; Sadie Ramsey (Charles), Buhl, Ala.; Lula Kornegay (Charles), West Point, Miss.; Alma McGarity (Ray), Tupelo, Miss.; Mattie Jo Heritage (Rodney), Gallion, Ala.; Linda Watkins, Romulus, Ala.; Betty Smith (Walter), Buhl, Ala.; sons, David Taylor (Marie), Demopolis, Ala.; Tollie Jr. "Rusty" Taylor (Myong), Columbus, Miss.; brother, James W. Maddox, Tuscaloosa; 36 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are Herbert Ellis, Willie Kelly, Lora Turner, Dr. Cornelius Sullivan, Caring Hands Hospice of Tuscaloosa, North Mississippi Hospice of Tupelo, Rev. Charles Herron, WalMart employees of West Point and Tupelo, Miss., and Jeff Kelly.

Ruby Moore Simpson

DEMOPOLIS - Ruby Moore Simpson, 86, of 105 Windsor Street, died October 25, 2001 at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will following in Beth-Salem Cemetery, Boligee. Kidd- Robbins Funeral Directors officiating. Visitation will be tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Betty D. Scott

SULLIGENT - Betty D. Scott, age 64, of Sulligent, died October 24, 2001. Services will be held at 4 p.m. today from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Sulligent City Cemetery. Norwood Funeral Home of Sulligent is directing.

She retired September 2000 from the Lamar County Education System after 35 years. She received her BS in 1968, Masters in 1975, and AA certificate in Education in 1977, all from the University of Alabama.

She is survived by her husband, Herbert W. Scott; daughter, Jeanette (Don) Norwood; son, Wade Scott; sister, Jane Davidson and five grandchildren, all of Sulligent.

Annie L. Montgomery

NORTHPORT - Annie L. Montgomery, age 97, of 13390 Alabama Highway 171, died October 25, 2001, at Heritage Health Care Center. Arrangements will be announced later by Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home in Northport.

Marie Green

TUSCALOOSA - Marie Green , age 92, formerly of Tuscaloosa, died October 18, 2001, in Cleveland, Ohio. Services will be held Saturday, October 27, 2001 at 1 p.m. from Buelah Baptist Church with Rev. W. J. Long officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins' Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to funeral time.
