Lure D. Ruffin-Moore

TUSCALOOSA - Lure D. Ruffin-Moore, age 77, of 2725 19th Avenue, died October 25, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday from Elizabeth Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Swift will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Oak Memorial Park with Rollins' Mortuary directing. The body will lie in state at the church 30 minutes before service.

Bobby Lee Montgomery

TUSCALOOSA - Bobby Lee Montgomery, 65, of 1263 Manora Estates Drive, died October 28, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel South with the Rev. Brannon Pinion and Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, W.C. and Annie Lee Montgomery, two brothers, W.C. and Earl Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Nelson Montgomery, Tuscaloosa; daughters, Stephanie Bronson (Jay), Northport; Krystal Cameron (Daren), Tuscaloosa; Tanya Montgomery, Northport; Debbie Bates (Hank), Tuscaloosa; son, Monty Montgomery (Tina), Northport; sister, Barbara Jones (J.C.), Northport; brother, Jack Montgomery (Sharon), Northport; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Montgomery, Joe Montgomery, Leon Kemp, Gary Williamson, Johnny Reach, Ray Sellers, Mickey Hulsey, and Dan Burnes.

Honorary pallbearers are B.F. Goodrich Local 351, I.B.E.W. Local 136, The Tuscaloosa Labor Council, friends and neighbors, Dr. Brian Wilhite, doctors and staff of DCH Cancer Center, Dr. Moses Jones, and nursing staff of 6 South.

Dock Loggins

TUSCALOOSA - Dock Loggins, age 81, died October 24, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Liberty Baptist Church. Burial will follow in church cemetery with Williams Service Funeral Home directing. Public viewing will be today at the funeral home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to service.

Addie Lee Kolongowski

TUSCALOOSA - Addie Lee Kolongowski, age 84, died October 28, 2001, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Dolan Davis, Jr., officiating and Heritage Chapel Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by husband, Cass Kolongowski; parents, Arthur and Stella Nelson; sisters, Leia Moore, Frances Ingram, Virginia Pounds and Elizabeth Phelps and brother, Roy Nelson.

She is survived by nieces, Faye Harper, Priscilla McPherson, Patricia Bradford, Mary Davis, Barbara Nelson, Cindy Lowery and Effie Mae Stevens; nephews, Harvey Moore, William Moore, Jr., and Bill Nelson; very special friend, Elzie Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Thomas McDermott, Jeanna Bundrum, Robert Pearson, Dolan Davis, Jerry Cooper, friends of Ski Lodge Apartments, nurses in ICU, ACCU and 3rd floor North at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Leonard Robert Hurst

BIRMINGHAM - Leonard Robert Hurst, age 59, died October 25, 2001, at UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. today at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rush and Amy Barksdale; his parents, Lee and Elizabeth Hurst and brother, Lee Hurst, Jr.

He is survived by sister, Rush Hurst Hoggle; aunts, Amy Pearson, Edith Barksdale and Marion Barksdale; cousins, Marion Pearson, John and Paul Barksdale, Edward Rush Barksdale; nieces, Elizabeth Hill and Rilla Hurst Pebbles; nephews, David Hill, Jr., four great-nieces and two-great nephews.

Leonard was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp.

Mae Savage Brown

MILLPORT - Mae Savage Brown, age 92, died October 28, 2001, at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be today 10 a.m., Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Green wood Memorial Gardens in Green wood, S.C., with Dowdle Funeral Home of Millport directing.

Ralph Bray

VERNON - Ralph Bray, age 75, died October 29, 2001, at Care Center of Vernon. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Phillips chapel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Nelson Funeral Home of Fayette directing. Visitation will be 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

Huey Davis

HOLT - Huey Davis, 72, of 4049 11th Street N.E., died October 25, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held today at 1:00 p.m. at 19th St. Pentecostal Church. Bishop Johnny K. Stewart and Rev. Frank Kennedy, Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in West Highland Memorial Gardens. Wills' Funeral Service is directing.

James L. Brown

TUSCALOOSA - James L. Brown, 65, of 1708 20th Avenue E. died October 31, 2001 at DCH Regional Medical Center Emergency Room. Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at American Legion Graveside. Rev. Gary Youngblood will officiate. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation is tonight from 7-9 p.m. at Heritage Chapel. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Inez Smith, and father, David Sherwood Brown.

Survivors include his spouse, Sue Brown, Tuscaloosa; daughters, Sandra Willcutt (Mack), Rhonda Griffin (Harold), both of Tuscaloosa; Linda Snyder (Patrick), Murfreesboro, Tenn.; son, Dwayne Brown (Karen), Tuscaloosa; sister, Shirley Childs, Macon, Ga.; brother, Sherwood David Brown, Jr., Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Kelli Griffin, Ken Griffin, Amy Weaver, Monica Weaver, Jaime Griffin, Devan Brown, Michael Snyder, Drew Snyder, and Suzanne Snyder.

He served in the U.S. Army and was the proud owner of Browns Body Shop.

Pallbearers will be Doug Rhodes, Joe Daniel, Leonard Earp, Earl Snyder, Buddy Latham, Jim Gibson.

Honorary pallbearers are past and present employees of Browns Body Shop, Buddy Tillery, Billy Joe Mott, Leon Winters, Chester Bambarger, George Walker, Dennis Crocker, Noah Bowman, Ricky Geer, Arthur Griffin, Vivian Gailes, Gat and Vera Abston.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to American Cancer Society.

Floyd P. Hollingsworth

FAYETTE - Floyd P. Hollingsworth, 90, died October 31, 2001 at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be held from New River Church of Christ today at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1:00- 2 :00 p.m. Nelson Funeral Home is directing.

Robert F. (Jack) Farley

VANCE - Robert F. (Jack) Farley, 68, 18196 highway 11 N., died October 31, 2001 at his residence. Graveside services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dawson Morrison, Rev. John W. Tatum, Rev. Allen Foster officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Memorial Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 12:30- 1:30 p.m. today at Memorial Chapel.

He is preceded in death by his father, Sam Farley, mother, Lura Farley, brothers, W.C. and Talmadge Farley, sister, Dot Russell, granddaughter, Kelley Catherine Farley.

Survivors include his spouse, Dorothy Farley, Vance; daughter, Gina Boothe (Dale), Vance; sons, Terry Herron (Linda), Tuscaloosa, Andy Farley (Leslie), Cottondale, Jerry Farley (Carol), Vance, Joey Farley, Vance, Jeff Farley (Gina), Cottondale; sisters, Mary R. Sneed (Buddy), Pat Farley both of Duncanville; brother, Edward Farley (Doris), Duncanville; 12 grandchildren; sister in laws, Leola Farley, Beth Ann Farley both of Duncanville; brother in law, Horace Russell, Phoenix.

Pallbearers will be Tim Farley, Larry Farley, Chuck Farley, Darryl Farley, John Snead, Stan Snead and Mike Russell.

Honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Cherry Hoyt, Mr. Chipper Hoyt, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Ely, employees of Tuscaloosa Memorial Park, employees of DCH Regional Medical Center, staff 6th South DCH Hospice of West Alabama, friends of Woodland Forrest Country Club, Doctor George Nunn, doctors and staff of Staff Southeast Cancer Network, friends of Wright’s Restaurant.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.

Geneva Velverton Givhan

MARION - Geneva Velverton Givhan, age 83, died November 2, 2001 at Warren Manor. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Rosemont Cemetery in Uniontown. Kirk Funeral Home of Marion will direct. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. at Uniontown United Methodist Church before the graveside service.

Dr. James Chang

TUSCALOOSA - Dr. James Change, age 89, of 319 37th Street, died November 2, 2001, at his residence. Arrangements will be announced later by Memory Chapel Funeral Home.

John Walter "Buddy" Burnette

GREENSBORO - John Walter "Buddy" Burnette, age 49, died November 1, 2001, at his residence. Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. today, Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. John King officiating. Kirk Funeral Home of Green sboro will direct.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Johnson Burnette of Green sboro; daughter, Tina Hall Fitzhugh (Russell) of Green sboro; sons, Chris Burnette of Green sboro and Mark Hall (Pam) of Green sboro; brothers, Russell Burnette, Jr. of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Brandi Bonds, Becca Hall, Ashley and Samantha Fitzhugh all of Green sboro.

Pallbearers will be Billy Pickle, Jerry Burton, Bryant Gray, Birney Hales, Tim Decker and Bobby Jim McClellan.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama or Green sboro Volunteer Fire Department or DCH Cancer Center.

BERRY - Jimmy Daniel Brashier, 48, 880 E. Avenue, died November 1, 2001 at Fayette Medical Center. Services will be held today at 2:00 p.m. at Bible Missionary Church. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Norwood Chapel Funeral Home of Fayette is directing.
