Beatrice Burden

Beatrice Burden, 78, of Summers, Ark., died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at her home. Born Aug. 11, 1921, in Gracen County, Texas, she was the daughter of Joe T. Ivey and Stella Pearl Cary Ivey. Burden was a former employee of Franklin Electric and Allen Canning Company in Siloam Springs, Ark., and was a lifetime resident of the Siloam Springs area. Burden was a member of Eastgate Church of Christ in Siloam Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer in 1973; two sisters, Levern Reynolds and Juanita Smith; and a brother, Austin Ivey.

Survivors include two daughters, Norma Mitchell of Summers and Ina McGarrah of Suzhou, China; a son, Clifford Reynolds of Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs, with Charles Cash officiating. Burial followed in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Earl Wesley Dewey, Sr.

Earl Wesley Dewey, Sr., 72, of Pharr, Texas, died Monday, May 1, 2000, in Houston, Texas. Born Dec. 20, 1927, in Terre Haute, Ind., he was the son of Robert Emmanuel Dewey and Ruth Zimmerman Dewey. Dewey had been a resident of Pharr for the past five years, formerly of Westville, Okla., Terre Haute and Covington, Ind. He was a plant manager for CMI in Old Mexico, and formerly a mechanical engineer for General Motors. Dewey was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army Air Corps. He was a member of Key Lodge #7 F.&A.M.;, Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge. He was former president of Clowns Club with the Northwest Arkansas Shriners. Dewey was preceded in death by his second wife, Kathleen Mae Dewey in 1991.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta Mae Reid Dewey of the home; four sons, Mike Dewey of Gentry, Ark., Robert Dewey of Pryor, Okla., Earl Wesley Dewey, Jr. of Salina, Okla., and Steve Denihei of Cooksville, Tenn., a daughter, Kim Scott of Covington, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Buzz Dewey of Terre Haute and Hiram Dewey of Indianapolis, Ind.; two sisters; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Wasson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Richard Callison officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Ruth Ann Jackson

Ruth Ann Jackson, 68, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Monday, May 1, 2000, at Washington Hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. Born Jan. 19, 1932, in Kansas, Okla., she was the daughter of Ralph Myrick and Mary Smith. Jackson had been a resident of Siloam Springs for 35 years. She was a housewife and a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Mike Chapman of Siloam Springs, David Jackson of Ozark, Ark., Jason Jackson of Siloam Springs; two daughters, Vickie Spears and Judy Wadsworth, both of Siloam Springs; two grandsons, John Wadsworth of Springdale, Ark., and Joseph Spears of Siloam Springs, Ark.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 6, 2000, at Leach Cemetery in Delaware County, Okla., with Sister Audrey Watkins officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Harry Vern Mott

Harry Vern Mott, 82, of rural Colcord, Okla., died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his home. Born July 3, 1917, in Shattuck, Okla., he was the son of John Cornelius Mott and Nellie Maud Mongold Mott. Mott was a retired farmer.

He had been a resident of Hennessey, Okla., for most of his life, moving to Colcord in 1961. He was preceded in death by two wives, Atha in 1956 and Irene in 1998.

Survivors include two sons, Larry of Bethany, Okla., and Donald of Ft. Gibson, Okla.; a daughter, Anna Mae Saunders of the home; a brother, Carl Mott of Hennessey; and a sister, Ethel Marion of Austin, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church in Hennessey on Monday, May 8, 2000, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Ed Arbogast officiating.

Burial will follow in Hennessey Cemetery with local services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73124-9930.

Beulah Rolus

Beulah Rolus, 89, of Colcord, Okla., died Tuesday, May 2, 2000, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs, Ark. Born Dec. 25, 1910, in Blaine County, Okla., she was the daughter of John Keeton and Lindsey King Keeton. Rolus had been a longtime resident of the Colcord/West Siloam Springs, Okla., area.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Siloam Springs.

Rolus was preceded in death by her husband, Emile in 1973; a daughter; four brothers and a sister.

Survivors include four sons, Joseph Rolus of the home, Henry Rolus of Sayre, Okla., JR Rolus of West Siloam Springs and Charles Rolus of the home; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Barr of Farmington, N.M.

The wake service was held Thursday, May 4, 2000, at Wasson Memorial Chapel. Funeral mass was held Friday, May 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Richard Strock as the celebrant. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs. Services were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Leonard A. Peters

Leonard A. Peters, 84, of Siloam Springs, Ark., died Saturday, Sept. 30, in Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Okla.

Born Oct. 8, 1915, in Frankfort, Ind., he was the son of Dr. Irvin Peters and Rose Peters. He had been a longtime area resident. Peters retired from the Kansas City Southern Railroad as a railroad agent and as a Methodist minister. He was a member of the Methodist church. His wife, Eunice Jo Hoover Peters, preceded him in death.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Haxel and her husband, Don, Siloam Springs; one son, David Peters and his wife, Meghan, Westminster, Calif.; one brother, Thomas Peters of Orlando, Fla.; five grandchildren, including Nash Haxel of Creve Coeur, Mo.; and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Tuesday in Wasson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Eason officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the cremation garden in Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs.

Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Daniel Detrich Allen

Daniel Detrich Allen, 93, of Gentry, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs.

Born Feb. 19, 1907, in Texarkana, Texas, he was the son of James Robert Allen and Mamie Boyer Allen.

He was a former resident of Kansas City, Mo., and retired from Ford Motor Company. He was a senior citizen lobbyist in Missouri. Allen was a graduate of John Brown University. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of United Auto Workers Union #249 Retirees and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was a Methodist. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Virginia Hall Allen.

Survivors include two brothers, Sam B. Allen of Fort Smith, and Thomas P. Allen of Gentry; one sister, Lois Allen Trumble of Warrensburg, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday, at Dickson Cemetery, near Cherokee City, and burial followed in Dickson Cemetery with services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Alberta June Mason

Alberta June Mason, 70, of Siloam Springs, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 12, 1930, in Gravette, she was the daughter of Albert L. Boyle and Marjorie Martin Boyle.

Mason was a resident of Siloam Springs for the past six and a half years and was formerly a resident of Gravette. She was the city recorder and a former mayor of Gravette from 1981 to 1993. She was the owner/operator of Alberta Mason Bookkeeping and Tax Service. Mason was president of Preceptor Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs. She marriage Jim Mason on July 21, 1967.

Survivors include her husband Jim Mason of the home; two sons, Allen Buckler of North Little Rock, Ark.; Charles Buckler of Columbia, Mo.; one daughter, Patricia Mason McFarland of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; one brother, David Boyle of Bailey, Colo.; and one cousin Thomas McCord of Nixa, Mo.

Memorial services were held Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Siloam Springs with the Rev. Bill Eason officiating. A reception followed the memorial service at Fellowship Hall of First United Methodist Church. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Terry Loy Mayfield

Terry Loy Mayfield, 48, of Decatur, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in Saguache, Colo. Born Jan. 29, 1952, in Nashville, he was the son of Loy Mayfield and Erna Marie Henderson Mayfield.

He had been an engineering supervisor for McKee Foods for the past 18 years. He was Lutheran.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ragan Mayfield of the home; his mother Erna Marie Mayfield of Decatur; three daughters, Laura Jean Hook and Regina Ann Mayfield, both of Gentry; Tracy Lynn Cotton of Bakersfield, Calif.; one brother, Scott Lee Mayfield of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Karen Lynn Hunter of Newport News, Va.; three grandsons, Ryan Hook, Trenton Hook and Nathan Mayfield, all of Gentry; and his stepmother Kris Mayfield of Gravette.

Funeral services were Monday, at the residence, the Wildcat Ranch with Leighton Reed officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Gravette. Services were under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

M. Marie McJunkin

M. Marie McJunkin, 79, of the Moseley Community in Oklahoma, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs. Born Aug. 13, 1921, in Siloam Springs, she was the daughter of William G. Gibbs and Clara M. Brittain Gibbs. McJunkin had been a lifelong resident of the area and a member of First Baptist Church in Siloam Springs.

She marriage William H. McJunkin on June 4, 1939. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father, her mother, her step-mother Eunice Gibbs, four brothers and a twin sister. She was a retired employee of Wal-Mart.

Survivors include three daughters, Clara Kinzey and her husband, Sonny, of Moseley, Thelma Vernon and her husband, Bill, of Siloam Springs, and Velma Etris and her husband, Ron, of Van Buren; two sons, William K. (Wilbur) McJunkin of the home, and Ricky McJunkin and his wife, Marsha, of Moseley; one brother, Billy Gibbs of Adair, Okla., one sister Alice Zahn of Crosby, Texas; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, at Wasson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Steve Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery in Delaware County, Okla. Services are under the direction of Wasson Funeral home of Siloam Springs.

Van F. Trammell

Van Trammell, 72, of Englewood, Fla., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in Tampa, Fla. Born Nov. 1, 1927, in McDonald, Kans., he was the son of Fred Trammell and Gertrude Lavell Trammell. Trammell was a retired retail grocer. He had lived in Syracuse, N. Y. and California. He was raised in Delaware County, Okla. Trammell was a World War II veteran, serving in the Navy. He was a Methodist and a member of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Ruth of the home; one son, Dale Trammell of Santa Anna, Calif.; one daughter, Kaye Koppe of Huntington Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren; three brothers, Ward Trammell of Colcord, Okla., Loris Trammell of Tulsa, Okla., and William J. Trammell of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Freda Shelley of Montclair, Calif., and Leola Whitely of Ajuanga, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wasson Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tom Lazenby officiating. Burial will follow in Gentry Cemetery in Gentry. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
