James "Terry" Rankin

James "Terry" Rankin, 65, of Decatur, Ark., died Friday, March 25, 2005, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale, Ark. He was born April 3, 1939, in Rogers, Ark., to James Ted and Ada Jewell Ball Rankin.

He was a retired truck driver for Wal-Mart and a member of the Gentry Church of Christ in Gentry, Ark. He marriage Bettie J. Van Fleet in Stilwell, Okla., on July 7, 1975.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Rankin.

Survivors include his wife Bettie of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Rankin of Branson, Mo., James Rankin and Penny Rankin of Lowell, Ark., Tommy Rankin of Gentry; two step-sons, Ricky Brown of New Hampshire and Randall Bryson of Decatur; three daughters, Rhonda Cox of Gentry, Tonya Tagg of Decatur, Taria Hannold of Gentry; one step-daughter, Beverly Harris and husband Dale of Decatur; two sisters, Rema Lowe of Gentry, and Jeanette Wood of Tulsa, Okla.; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Gentry Church of Christ with Bruce Potter. Burial will follow at Decatur Cemetery, Decatur. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark. Arrangements are under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Ark.

Betty Louise Parrish

Betty Louise Parrish, 66, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, March 21, 2005, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was born June 6, 1938, in Rogers to Rex and Velma Hutchinson Miller.

She retired as an administrator in the medical field.

Survivors include her son, Chris Henderson of Rogers; two daughters, Mitzi Huffman of Metarie, La., and Gena Moreno of Spring, Texas; five brothers, Gene Miller of Tacoma, Wash., Eddie Miller of Salem, Ore., Billy Miller of Halston, Texas, Ron Don Miller of Rogers, and Gary Miller of Cottage Grove, Ore.; three sisters, Carolyn Weaver of Independence, Mo., Connie Howell of Texline, Texas, and Vickie Vernon of San Moreno, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers.

Bruce Lin Burgess

Bruce Lin Burgess, 60, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, March 25, 2005, at St. Mary’s Rogers Memorial Hospital in Rogers. He was born Dec. 16, 1944, in Green Bay, Wis., to Bernadean Linquist and John T. Burgess.

He was U.S. Air Force veteran, receiving an honorable discharge upon completion of a tour of duty in the Vietnam War.

He retired from the Lincoln Telephone Company in Lincoln, Neb., after 30 years of service, and enjoyed traveling with his wife and fishing on Beaver Lake. He marriage Diane "Sam" Burgess on Feb. 24, 1986.

He was preceded in death by his father and his older brother, Hal Burgess.

Survivors include his wife of the home; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Michelle Burgess, Lori Persinger and Mike Persinger of Lafayette, Colo., Melissa Reynolds, and Kali Eskey and Tony Eskey of Lincoln, Neb.; and his mother and step-father, Bernadean Friesen and Byrl Friesen of Rogers.

Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2005, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Stockdale Funeral Services in Rogers with the Rev. Gordon Besel. Cremation will follow the funeral service.

Military honors will be provided by the Northwest Arkansas Honor Guard of Rogers.

Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Foundation.

Nice, Sr., Durward G.

Nice, Sr., Durward G., 88, passed away on March 24, 2005, at Sandpiper Bay Healthcare Center in Wichita, KS. Visitation 5:00 - 7:00 P. M., Sunday, funeral service Monday, 10:00 A. M., both at Downing and Lahey Mortuary East.
Durward Gale Nice, Sr. was born January 17, 1917 in Gotebo, OK, to Oscar and Charlotte Nice. Durward marriage Elizabeth Parks, November 20, 1938 in Independence, KS. After serving the city of Wichita as a firefighter for 25 years, he and Elizabeth retired to Rogers, AR on Beaver Lake. She preceded him in death July 12, 1995. In addition, Durward was preceded in death by his parents, son, Herschel Dale Nice, brother, Venson Nice and sister, Helen Jean Nice. Survivors include son, Durward Gale Nice, Jr. and wife Barbara, of Joplin, MO; grandson, Gary Nice of Rockford, IL, Marvin Nice of Benton, KS, Jeffrey Nice of Paola, KS and Steven Nice of Joplin, MO; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Jack Nice of Wichita, KS, John Nice of Carmichael, CA, Paul Nice of Portage, OH, Eldon Nice of Valley Center, KS, Carl Nice of Sacramento, CA and Bob Nice of Wichita, KS; sisters, Hazel Smith of Wichita, KS and Bonnie Jeffries of Russellville, AR. Memorials have been established with Lakeside Baptist Church, 15891 E. Hwy. 12, Rogers, AR, 72756 and Kansas Firefighters Museum, 1300 S. Broadway, Wichita, KS, 67211. Jo Anne Horton

Jo Anne Horton, 66, of Gentry, Ark., died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital in Siloam Springs, Ark. She was born Jan. 21, 1939, in Jonesboro, Ark. She was the daughter of Gladys Gilbert Girndt and her husband Paul Girndt, and Woodrow Halford.

She had lived in Gentry since 2000, moving from Southaven, Miss. She marriage James E. Horton on March 20, 1959, in Robinsonville, Miss. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Central Church in Memphis, Tenn., and the First Baptist Church in Gentry. Survivors include her husband, James Horton; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry Anthony Horton and Maria Horton of Gentry; her parents, Paul and Gladys Girndt of Gentry; a sister, Shirley Smith of Gravette, Ark.; and two granddaughters, Amberly Horton and Ericka Horton of Gentry. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs, Ark. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 25, at the First Baptist Church in Gentry with Dr. Robin Cowin. Burial will be at the Gentry Cemetery.

Beatrice Dew

Beatrice Dew, 78, of Leach, Okla., died Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs, Okla. She was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Morrill, Neb., to Elmo Cleopolis Burkes and Berna Ethel Cook Burkes.

In February 1945, she moved to Oklahoma, where she worked at the powder plant in Pryor. She marriage Jess Dew on Aug. 25, 1945. She had been employed for 13 years at the Lowery School and for 17 years at the Oaks Mission Children’s Center, and retired from Siloam Springs (Ark.) Memorial Hospital in 1991. She was a foster grandparent.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Dew, in 1987; a brother, Ardith Burkes; and a sister, Tilda Morrow.

Survivors include a son, Bill Dew of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Sharon Dunlap Peck of West Siloam Springs, Okla.; six brothers, Keith Burkes of Wichita, Kan., Godard Burkes of Hindsville, Ark., Lionel Burkes of Springdale, Ark., Earl Burkes of Huntsville, Ark., Glen Burkes of Tallahassee, Fla., and Loy Burkes of Bandero, Texas; a sister, Wanda Howard of Hindsville; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Wasson Memorial Chapel in Siloam Springs, Ark., with the Rev. Jess French. Burial will be at the Bill Batt Cemetery in Cherokee County, Okla. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.

Ronald Lynn Wilks

Ronald Lynn Wilks, 56, of Pea Ridge, Ark., died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Ark. He was born March 25, 1948, in Garfield, Ark., to Milburn Franklin Wilks and Virginia May Mahurin Wilks.

He was a longtime resident of the Garfield and Pea Ridge area. He served in the U.S. Army from March 6, 1968, to Feb. 28, 1970, in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a Christian. He enjoyed NASCAR and his dog, Zena.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn Franklin Wilks and Virginia May Mahurin Wilks Roller; his stepfather, Floyd. T. Roller; and three brothers, Richard Wilks, Roger Wilks and Randall Eugene Wilks.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Judy Mae Wilks, whom he marriage on June 21, 1971; a daughter, Kristy Lynn Wilks of Pea Ridge; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Billy Franklin Wilks, and Jim Wilks and Kathy Wilks, all of Garfield, Ark., and Butch Wilks of Pea Ridge; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Ann Dean and James Dean of Bonner Springs, Kan., Glenda Bolin and Robert Bolin of Western Grove, Ark., Donna Bell and Dennis Bell of Rogers, Ark., and Cheryl Wilson and Dean Wilson of Bella Vista, Ark.; 17 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Anthony Lane.

Burial will be at the Bayless Cemetery near Gateway, Ark.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dean, Jason Wilmoth, Shawn Bolin, Michael Wilmoth, Matthew Wilks and Danny Sisco.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dennis Bell, James Dean, Tom Mahurin and Robert Bolin.

Dorthy E. Foust

Dorthy E. Foust, 105, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Beverly Health Care Center in Rogers. She was born Nov. 1, 1899, in Bagwell, Texas, to Robert E. Sharock and Sara E. Teal Sharock.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Cowden, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis "Jack" Foust; two sons, Curtis Foust and Rex Glen Foust Sr.; two daughters, Esther Mona Alexander and Lillian M. Haws; two brothers; four sisters; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Virgil O. Foust of Rogers; two sisters, Norma T. Morris of Thayer, Kan., and Nancy L. Martin of Altus, Okla.; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at the Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers with the Rev. Love Loftis.

Cremation arrangements are by the Benton County Funeral Home.

Janice Sue (Susie) Beaulieu McEachern

Janice Sue (Susie) Beaulieu McEachern, 66, of Bonham, Texas, passed from this life on March 21, 2005, in Springdale, Arkansas. She was born July 4, 1938, in Rogers, Arkansas, to the late Kenneth Beaulieu and his wife Juanita Fry Beaulieu of Rogers, Arkansas.

Janice Sue graduated from Rogers High School in 1956. She attended Baylor University, receiving her B. A. Degree and Teaching Certification in 1961. While at Baylor she met and marriage her husband of forty-six years, Carl.

Janice Sue was a housewife, school and piano teacher for thirty years. She established and directed the Pregnancy Education and Parenting Program for the Bonham School District from 1993-2004. This program assists teenage parents to complete their high school education. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bonham, Texas.

Janice Sue was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Beaulieu, who owned and operated Beaulieu Hardware in Rogers, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband Carl of Bonham, Texas; mother Juanita Beaulieu and sister Kenneta Taylor of Rogers, Arkansas; son Ken and daughter-in-law Sharon; four grandchildren, Carter, Katrina, Isabella and Christian of Bonham, Texas.

Janice Sue (Susie) will always be remembered as a kind, loving and caring person by her loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at the Callison-Lough Funeral Chapel in Rogers, Arkansas. Burial will follow in the Rogers Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Callison-Lough Funeral Service, Rogers, Arkansas.

Ross Leon Wilmoth, Sr.

Ross Leon Wilmoth, Sr., 80-year-old resident of Gentry, Arkansas, died Sunday, March 20, in Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Born September 13, 1924, in Decatur, Arkansas, he was the son of Jim Wilmoth and Liddie Dill Wilmoth. He had been a lifetime resident of the Gentry and Falling Springs area. Mr. Wilmoth was a self-employed owneroperator of a heavy equipment business, a cattle rancher, and owner-operator of Wild Wilderness Safari. A veteran of World War II, he had served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post in Gentry. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gentry.

Survivors include his wife Freda of the home; four sons, Ross Leon Wilmoth, Jr. and his wife Gayla, James Lewis Wilmoth and his wife Jodie, Freddy Mack Wilmoth, Sr. and his wife Patricia "Sissy," Charles William Wilmoth and his wife Rayetta, all of Gentry; four daughters, Linda Joy Hook and her husband Floyd of Gentry, Sheva Jean Thompson and her husband Butch of Siloam Springs, Lisa Ann Wilmoth of Gentry, and Chana Rose Kooistra and her husband Aaron of Siloam Springs; two brothers, James Edward Wilmoth of Siloam Springs and Jerry Wilmoth of Prescott, Arizona; one sister, Pearl Fenton of Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandsons, Christopher Jason Hook, Ross Leon "Trey" Wilmoth, III and his wife Christen, Joshua Taylor Wilmoth, Thomas Harry Wilmoth, Freddy Mack Wilmoth, Jr., Branton Leon Thompson, and Jaxon James Kooistra; nine granddaughters, Kristen Janece Hook, Angela Marie Beeler and her husband Roy, Jessica Dawn Wilmoth, Casey Ruchele Wilmoth, Jaiden Laine Wilmoth, Sara Jean Thompson, Megan Ann Mc-Garrah, Meranda Ann Mc-Garrah and Abigail Elaine Wilmoth; two great-grandsons, "Ross" Leon Wilmoth, IV, and Hudson Lewis Noel Wilmoth; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ray Mack Wilmoth, Harry Amos Wilmoth, and Charles William Wilmoth; and one grandson, Jarod Clint Hook.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wasson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 24, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Gentry with Dr. Robin Cowin and Rev. Mike Walker officiating. Burial will be in Falling Springs Cemetery with funeral services under the direction of Wasson Funeral Home. Family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to the Falling Springs Cemetery Association, c/o Flo Dickinson, 21801 Falling Springs Road, Decatur, AR 72722.
