Julia Boettger
Mrs. Julia E Boettger, age 92, of Cherokee Village, died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at White River Medical Center in Batesville, AR. She was a Homemaker and loved art work.
She was the daughter of the late Peter Charbarneau and the late Edna O'tonna (McRill) Chamberneau.
Julia is survived by: one Daughter, Beverly Littlefield of Waukesha, WI, one step Daughter Alice Grant of Milwaukee, WI, a son Robert Myers of Cherokee Village and a step son Thomas Boettger of Greenfield, WI. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 33 great grand children and 5 great great grandchildren.
A Rosary service will be held on Friday, July 18th at 10:30 AM. A memorial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM both at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Cherokee Village with Fr. Tom Marks celebrating.

Clara S. Luhr
Mrs. Clara Stone Luhr, age 89, of Cherokee Village, died Monday, at her home. Clara was retired from the White Sewing Machine Company where she worked in sales. She was a member of First Methodist Church of Cherokee Village.
Carla is survived by: two Grandsons Carl and Kevin Luhr of Stafford, Virginia and one nephew
A funeral service will be held in Heath Oak Hill Chapel at 11:00 AM Wednesday, with Rev. Kay Burton officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Wednesday. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Highland.

Robert "Bob" Slayton
Mr. Robert Lee Slayton, age 80, of Hardy, died Thursday, July 17, 2008, in Jonesboro. Mr. Slayton retired as the Chief of Fire and Security for the City of Cherokee Village, and was a former Arkansas State Trooper; he was a member of Ward Street Church of Christ where he served as an elder for over 30 years.
He was the son of the late Joe Slayton and the late Barbara Stevens Slayton. He is also preceded in death by one brother Joe Ed Slayton and one sister Bobbie King.
Bob is survived by: his wife Jean Inness Slayton of Hardy; Three Daughters: Leala Jean Morgan of Hardy, Pat Fowler of Jonesboro and Foster Daughter Tina Dees of Jonesboro; Four Sisters: Lou Taylor of Cherokee Village, Mary Miner of Paragould, Elizabeth Bradford of Paducah, KY and Sally Powers of West Memphis; Four Brothers: Bill Slayton of Cherokee Village, David Slayton of Flint, MI, Richard Slayton of Pocahontas and Danny Slayton of Williford.
He is also survived by: two grandchildren Donna Jean Goodwin and Faron Lee Morgan; two great grandchildren Katelyn Goodwin and Mikayla Goodwin; one foster grandchild Ashley Robertson; and one foster great grandchild Keely Robertson.
A funeral service will be in Heath Oak Hill Chapel on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 3:00 PM with Brother Tom O’Neal, Brother Joe Spangler and Brother Jack Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Baker Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time.

Ralph I. Jones
Ralph Jones, age 83, of Cherokee Village, died Sunday in Mountain Home. Ralph was retired from Ford Motor Company. He Served in the Navy during World War II and was one of the first Navy Seals.
He is survived by: his wife, Joan Jones of the home; Daughter Shelley Worth of Toledo, Ohio; Three Sons: David Jones of Cherokee Village and Kevin Jones of Boston, Mass. Robert Jones of Camp Arifjan, Kuwait; One Sister Shirley Geiman of Toledo, Ohio; Thirteen grandchildren and
One great-grandchild.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 10:00 AM Thursday with Military Honors.
Rosary service will be at 6:30PM Wednesday at Heath Oak Hill Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM - 6:30PM.

Bernard Robinson
Bernard L. Robinson died August 11, 2008, at the age of 85, at Fulton County Hospital.
He was the son of Byron & Catherine Robinson of Vincennes, IN, and Estelle & Ben Lee of Chicago, IL.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and saw action during WWII. After his military service he worked for the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller in Aurora, IL. When he retired from the FAA he became the owner/operator of a McDonald’s restaurant in Paramount, CA for ten years. He was a member of the Cherokee Village Men’s Golf Association and a member of the Highland Elks #2539.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard B. and William J. Robinson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Natalie; three sons, Barry L. of Tracy, CA., Terry L of Colorado Springs CO. and Timothy J. of Shreveport, LA; one grand Daughter Kristen Marie Robinson; a sister Helen Lee Bates and her Husband Wes, many nieces, nephews, other relations and friends.
A memorial service will be planned at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s of Arkansas.

Cyril J. Bertram
Cyril (Bert) J. Bertram, 74 of Cherokee Village, AR; formerly of Fond Du Lac, WI. Died August 19, 2008 at Arkansas University Hospital. He was born October 31, 1933, the son of the late Alex and Loretta Bertram.
Cyril was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member and chaplain of the Elk’s Club, a member of the New Evening Shade Free and Accepted Masons, a Cherokee Village volunteer firefighter; he was secretary/ treasurer of Highland Lion’s Club, treasurer of Indian Hills Bowling Association, Treasurer and volunteer lake patrolman of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-1-9 WR. Cyril was also a member of the Shriners and VFW.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Bertram of Cherokee Village and was the loving father of two daughters: Jama (Dave) Flagstad, Jennifer (Gary) Meis, and one son Jim (Juanita) Ancil. He was the wonderful grandpa of 9 grandchildren: Nick Thern, Nathan Halfman, Nicole Seth, Brandon and Brett Ancil, Nicole Meis, Julie Dilling, Brenda Schaefer, and Becky Flagstad, He was also blessed with 11 great grandchildren. He is survived by 3 sisters: Lucille Bertram, Pat Stenz and Mary Ann Flood, Along with numerous nieces and nephews. All of the Fond Du Lac, WI Area.
A private immediate service was held August 21, 2008 with cremation following. Arrangements are being held by Heath Funeral Home of Highland. A memorial service will be held at a later date for all of Bert’s Cherokee Village friends.

Anna Brannon
CLOVIS, Calif. - Anna Mae Brannon, 73, of Clovis, Calif., formerly of Batesville, died March 1, 2011, in Fresno, Calif.
Born July 15, 1937, she was the daughter of Ernest and Pauline Willis Howard. She was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include a son, Howard “Sonny” Brannon of Barstow, Calif.; a daughter, Sheila Mae Brooks of Selmer, Tenn.; two brothers, Calvin Howard of Batesville and Alan Howard of Floyd; a sister, Alice Faye Hollowell of Batesville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Loretta Lowder
WILLIFORD - Loretta L. Lowder, 96, of Williford died Thursday, March 10, 2011, in a Walnut Ridge hospital.
Born Oct. 10, 1914, at Goshen, Ind., she was the daughter of Everett and Hazel Brown. She was an assembly line worker for a gun manufacturer and was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include a son, Wayne Lowder of Williford; three grandchildren, James Lowder of Hardy, Tony Lowder of Utah and Shelly Schwartz of Atlanta; four great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Loy Dover
FAYETTEVILLE - Loy Verne Dover, 83, of Fayetteville, formerly of Batesville and Melbourne, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, in Springdale.
Born April 29, 1927, in Stella, he was the son of Ervin Edgar Dover and Willie Jane Felts Jackson. He was retired from sales. He had a Montgomery Ward franchise in Batesville for 10 years. He was a singer, played the guitar and piano and was in a band for several years. He was active in Life Source in Fayetteville, caring for the homeless. He was a member the Rotary Club and First Baptist Church of Melbourne.

Melvin Propes
ROSIE - Melvin Johnny Propes, 65, of Rosie died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in a Batesville hospital.
Born June 12, 1945, in Harrisburg, he was the son of Melvin “Bee” and Mary Propes.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Propes, three sons, Eric Pinion of Tennessee, Freddie Bates Jr. of Concord and Luke Fountain of Cabot; two daughters, Mary Robertson of Thida and Danielle Patterson of Sulphur Rock; two brothers, Porter Smith and Donald Propes, both of Tennessee; two sisters, Allien Spurlock and Byrdie Evans, both of Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Lillian Newburn
CHEROKEE VILLAGE - Lillian Marie Newburn, 88, of Cherokee Village died Monday, March 7, 2011, in a Batesville hospital.

Hylas Piearson
HEBER SPRINGS - Hylas H. Piearson, 98, of Heber Springs, formerly of Floral, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Heber Springs.
Born Sept. 22, 1912, at Floral, he was the son of Robert and Idonia Piearson. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He was a retired factory worker and a farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Heber Springs.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces.

Jack McAndrew
John R. “Jack” McAndrew, 85, died Friday, March 4, 2011.
There will be a memorial service at a later date.

Ella Johnson
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Ella Mae Johnson of Bakersfield, Calif., died Saturday, March 5, 2011, in a Bakersfield hospital.
Born in 1928 in Cushman, she was the daughter of Leonard and Janie Lee. She married T.C. Johnson on July 6, 1946, and they were married for 49 years. She was a long-time resident of the Bakersfield area and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 45 years.
She enjoyed taking walks to the park, collecting things, going to yard sales, having lunch with her friends and calling her sister daily.

Joe Jefferson
Joe Jefferson, 69, of Batesville died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, in a Batesville hospital.
Born Oct. 13, 1941, in Mountain View, he was the son of Thomas P. and Opal Ann Warden Jefferson. He worked at Kroger for 38 years before retirement. He was a Baptist and enjoyed watching sports.

Deborah Clark
Deborah Jean Clark, 42, of Batesville died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Jonesboro.
Born June 17, 1958, in Jonesboro, she was the daughter of Charlie and Ruth Hayes Clark. She was a homemaker.

Frederick Daum
MOUNTAIN VIEW - Frederick Louis Daum, 99, of Pleasant Grove died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at a nursing home in Sidney.

Eugene K. Matlock
Eugene K. Matlock, 71, of Batesville died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at a local hospital.

Eula C. Talley
Eula C. Talley, 92, of Batesville died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home.

Calvin White
MELBOURNE - Calvin White, 66, of Melbourne died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at a nursing home in Sidney.

Rosie A. Allen
Rosie Aline Allen, 74, of Salado died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at a local hospital.

Born Aug. 19, 1926 in Stone County, she was the daughter of W.S. and Neca Caradine Long. She was a homemaker.

Junior Hughes, 74, of Batesville died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Batesville.

Leroy William Shortnacy, 72, of Hardy, formerly of Lemoore, Calif. died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at a Batesville hospital.

Newport - Archie Adams Sr., 70, of Newport died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at his home.

CAVE CITY - Earl Franklin Mayes, 74, of Cave City died Monday, May 24, 2004 in Cave City.
