Jimmy Beason

Jimmy Leon Benson, 56, of Paris, died Saturday, March 23, 2002.
He was a Christian.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, March 26, at McKendree cemetery north of Subiaco under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his mother, Tina Benson of Paris; two sons, Billy Benson of Greenwood, and James Benson of Corinth, Tex.; one brother, Doyle Benson of Paris; one sister, Martha Bradley of Paris; and one grandchild.

Michael Steffey

Michael Dean Steffey, 45, died March 21, 2002 in Booneville.
He was born Sept. 7, 1956 in Kansas City, Mo.
Graveside services and burial were Monday, March 25 at 3 p.m. at Lick Creek cemetery under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his mother, Alice Haller Maxwell and step-dad James Maxwell of Booneville; one son, Michael Dean Steffey of California; one half-brother, Jimmy Maxwell; two sisters, Debbie Cemkey of California, and Pam Pardue of Tennessee; one half-sister, Kay Jones of Tennessee; and adopted sister, Little Debbie of Booneville.

Brenda Whitehead

Brenda Gale Whitehead, 42, of Rochelle, Ill. formerly of Havana, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002.
He was born Aug. 18, 1959 in Rochelle, Ill. He was a member of Four Square Church in Rochelle, Ill. and a member of the Moose Lodge.
Services were Monday, March 25 at 10 a.m. at Havana Assembly of God Church in Havana burial was at Moores Chapel cemetery in Waveland under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by parents M. Harold and Dorothy Burtman of Havana; husband, Kenneth Whitehead of the home in Rochelle, Ill. formerly of Booneville; two daughters, Kathy Whitehead of the home in Rochelle, Ill. and Erica Betz of Rochelle, Ill.; two sisters, Lena Vogel of Fort Scott, Kan. and Kate Clemons of Havana; and one granddaughter.
Pallbearers were Mitchell Clemons, Lee Love, Leslie Gorman, Johnny Burtman, Lonnie Whitehead, Carman Whitehead, Gary Whitehead and Allen Burtman.

H. C. Dickerson

H. C. Dickerson, 73, of Ratcliff, died Friday, March 22, 2002 in Ozark.
He was a member of Roseville Baptist Church and the Arkansas Cattlemen's Association. He was a telephone construction supervisor for Contel. He served in the Korean War with the US Army. He was born Sept. 14, 1928 in Taft, to Harley and Beulah Dickerson.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, March 25 at Roseville Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Porter officiating with burial at Belt cemetery north of Ozark under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by wife, Jessie of the home; one daughter, Vickie Lane of Ratcliff; two sons, Ricky Dale Dickerson of Subiaco, and Douglas Dickerson of Ozark; one sister, Cumi Dickerson of Ozark; three brothers, Harley Dickerson of Branch, Herbert Dickerson of Ozark, and Othel Dickerson of Ratcliff; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jackie Patrick, Earl Wyers, Rickey Bowman, Ken Sturdivant, Lucky Cannon, and Bob McCartney.

Lucy Shepard

Lucy Belle Shepard, 78, of Paris, died Tuesday, July 16, 2002.
She is a retired telephone operator and attends the Baptist church. She graduated from Paris High School in 1941. She was preceded in death by parents, Homer Floyd and Laura Maude (Cauthron) Berry and husband, James Shepard.
Memorial service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at Roller Chapel in Paris and burial of cremation in Oakwood cemetery in Paris.
She is survived by two daughters, Brenda Robinson of Magazine, and Susan Wennermark of Rolla, Mo.; one son, James Scott Shepard of Fayetteville; one brother, Charles Floyd Berry of Paris; three sisters, Irene Garrett of Oxnard, Calif., Ester Bronder of San Mateo, Calif., Patsy Roper of Paris; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Baxter Crawford, Johnny Chandler, Joe Rector, Dalton Edwards, Arie Green, Stephen Meador, and Kenneth Underwood.
Memorial contributions in lieu flowers may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital, Little Rock, Arkansas.

Pauline Sutton

Pauline Akins Sutton, 87, of Paris, formerly of Van Buren, died Friday, July 5, 2002.
She was a homemaker, a member of RSVP, First Freewill Baptist Church of Van Buren and Crawford County Hospital Women's Auxiliary.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel with burial at 1 p.m. at Committal at Corley Mountain cemetery in Paris under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Juanita Pope of St. Louis, Mo., and Paula Sharp of Paris; five sons, Jerry Akins and David Akins both of Tishamingo, Okla., Donald Akins of Houston, Tex., Larry Akins of Van Buren and Roger Akins of Russellville; one brother, Lonnie Allen of Cement, Okla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Johnny Blamey, John Lewis Blamey, Danny Long and D. C. Sharp.

Eddie Miller

Eddie Carroll Miller, 70, of Paris, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002.
He served in the Army from 1952 to 1954. He was awarded National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal. He was preceded in death by parents, Clarance and Christine Miller
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6 at Murry Funeral Home Chapel in Paris with burial at Oakwood cemetery in Paris under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by his wife Francis Miller of Paris; two daughters, Junell Scherff of Russellville, and Ranita Friemel of Midway; one son, Edward Miller of Paris; two sisters, Florine Shelton of Okmulgee, Okla., and Unetta Blevins of Oklahoma City; one brother, Gene Miller of Luther, Okla.; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Edward Miller, Gene Miller, Jim Dotson, Jim Hamilton, Larry Brown and Robbie Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers were Robert Scherff, Mike Henderson, Scott Frier.

Lorraine Thayer

Lorraine Douglas Thayer, 83, of Paris died Monday, June 24, 2002 in Paris.
She was a Catholic and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and a son, Russell.
Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 26 at St. Athony's cemetery in Caulksville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by one son, Douglas Thayer, of Havana and two daughters, Paula Thayer of Kent, Wash. and Lois Gino of San Auselmo, Calif.,; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Ira B. Rainwater

Ira B. Rainwater, 83, of Fort Smith, (formerly of Paris) died Monday, June 24, 2002 in Fort Smith.
He was a retired from the Civil Service and was a member of First Baptist Church in Paris serving as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and a faithful member. He was a Veteran of World War II in the Air Corps and a member of the "Jolly Roger Unit."
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ozie Marion and Dora Rosetta (Rollans) Rainwater; a sister, Isa Rainwater; a brother, Cyrus Rainwater; and his wife, Bobbie (Powers) Rainwater.
A graveside service and burial was at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002 at Oakwood cemetery in Paris under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Ann (Rainwater) Kury, of Fort Smith; two sisters, Elsie Baker and Loneta Kelly, both of Tulsa, Okla..
Pallbearers were: Leo Rainwater, Finis Featherston, Archie Clayton, Jr., Frankie Jarrard and Charles Fels.

Linda Sloan

Linda Gail Sloan, 54, of Magazine died Tuesday, June 25, 2002 in her home.
She was retired from the Ace Comb Co. in Booneville. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Booneville.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Roberts Memorial Chapel with burial following in Oak Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Sloan, of the home; two sons, James L. Stone of Tennessee and Darin R. Jones of Danville; one brother, Jimmy E. Jones of Sand Springs, Okla.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Randy Meirias, Doug Jones, Gene Haugh, Dale Smith, W.G. Sloanand Ernie Sloan.
