Bill Spicer

Bill Spicer, 75, of Seminole, Okla., died Friday, April 19, 2002.
He was born in Paris on March 11, 1926 to William Don Spicer and Minnie E. (Lloyd) Spicer. He was a career educator who began teaching at Sequoyah Schools where he was principal and coached basketball, he taught at Oolagah Schools, Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore (Rogers State University) and Seminole State College retiring in 1987. He served in the Navy during World War II, as Yeoman Third Class; received Victory Ribbon; Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Ribbon with four stars; American Campaign Ribbon; Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one star; Presidential Unit Citation and Ribbon Bar with Bronze Star. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Retired Teacher's Association; VFW; and American Legion.
Memorial service was at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25 at First Baptist Church in Seminole with Dr. Kelvin Moseley officiating under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home of Seminole, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Spicer of the home; one son, Don Spicer of Edmond, Okla.; one daughter, Debbie Thompson of Novato, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Vision 2000 at First Baptist Church or Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity, or charity of choice.

John Council

John B. Council, 82, of Ratcliff, died Wednesday, April 24, 2002.
He was born Feb. 6, 1920 in Franklin County to Albert Council and Linnie O'Neal Council. He was a milk program specialist for Arkansas Department of Health, a member of the Grade "A" Milk Board Advisory Committee, Albert Pike Masonic Lodge 714 in Little Rock and a 32nd degree Mason, he was an Army Veteran of World War II and a member of the Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Etna. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Mathews Council.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26 at Smith Mortuary Chapel officiated by the Revs. Daniel Kesterson, Michael Bright and Galen Mason. Burial was at Mt. Hope cemetery north of Caulksville under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.
He is survived by two daughters, Donna Slone of Fayetteville, and Virginia Dennie of Little Rock; one son, John David Council of Ratcliff; two sisters, Eula Mae Spicer of Scranton, and Norma Brown of Ratcliff; one brother, G.S. "Junior" Council of Charleston; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Johnny Goodson, John Fox, Kevin Crumpacker, Danny Council, David Slone, Leslie Dennie and Robby Dennie.

Magdalene Kremers

Magdalene A. Kremers, 83, of New Blaine, died Thursday, April 25, 2002.
She was a retired nurse, member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church (Shoal Creek), and St. Anne's Altar Society, New Blaine. She was preceded in death by parents Frank and Anna (Friga) Schulte; sisters, Caroline Ebbing and Angie Means and brothers, Frank Schulte, Jr., Ben Schulte, John Schulte, Allie Schulte.
Rosary was at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Shoal Creek.
Mass was at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Shoal Creek with burial in St. Scholastica cemetery in Shoal Creek under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
He is survived by four daughters, Margie Hart of New Blaine, Janice Berry of Fort Smith, Nancy Udouj of Fort Smith, and Kim Borengasser of Fort Smith; one son, Ernie Kremers of Strafford, Mo.; one sister, Mildred Trent of New Blaine; one brother, Lawrence Schulte of New Blaine; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ken Hart, Don Bearden, John Mendenhall, Chris Hart, Charlie Sparks, Stanley Schulte, Keith Frein and Steve Cannon.

Steve Cserna

Steve Cserna, 76, of Magazine, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002.
He was Catholic.
The body will be cremated and a private service will be held at Heritage Addition Church of Christ in Booneville.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Stefanie Koch Cserna of the home in Magazine; one son, Ted Steven Cserna of Alma; one step-brother, Antal Cserna of Hungary; and other friends and relatvies.

Robert Lovelace, Sr.

Robert Lee Lovelace, Sr., 74, died Tuesday at this home near Belleville.
He was born Jan. 12, 1928 in Paris to the late Henry and Lydia Scott Lovelace. He was a truck driver and a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Virginia Morece Lovelace, a son, Gary Lovelace, a grandson, Anthony Richards, and a brother, Leonard Lovelace.
He is survived by his wife, Frankie Lou Lusk Lovelace; two sons, Steven Lovelace of Dardanelle, Robert Lee Lovelace, Jr. of Subiaco; two daughters, Kim Lovelace of Belleville and Linda Samuels of Salt Lake City, Utah; a brother, Russell Lovelace of Missouri; three sisters, Ruth Dorrough of Missouri, Ruby Grigsby of Hartman, and Bertha Banning of Paris; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m. at the Subiaco Worship Center in Subiaco with the Rev. Carl Sorey officiating. Burial with military honors were in Caulksville cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.
Pallbearers were Timmy Henderson, Dennis Essman, Floyd Scott, Harold Scott, Billy Ray Scott, and Jack Scott.
Honorary pallbearers were Tom Wilcox, Charlie Brewer, Bill Thomas, James Jackson, Tony Pickle, James Underwood, Troy Keener, Steve Sanchez, and Troy Templeman.

Jewell Lipe

Jewell Lipe, 102, formerly of Paris, died in California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Lipe, and parents, Ben and Lila Moore of New Blaine. She was a Christian.
She is survived by one daughter, Billie Jo Craig of Westlake Village, Calif. and a son, R. C. Lipe of Columbus, Ga.
Graveside service will be held at Elizabeth Hall cemetery in New Blaine on Thursday, May 2 at 2 p.m.

Clara Vonder Heide

Clara M. Vonder Heide, 93, of Subiaco died Friday, April 26, 2002.
She was retired owner-operator of the Vonder Heide Laundry in Subiaco, a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco and St. Benedict Mother's Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary (Stumpf) Schulte, and husband, Edward Vonder Heide.
Rosary was Sunday, April 28 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco.
Mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, April 29 at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Subiaco with burial in St. Benedict cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by four daughters, Dorothy Wright of Van Buren, Betty Lou White of Russellville, Carmelita Kremers of Little Rock, and Joanita Roper of England; one son, Charles Vonder Heide of Fort Smith; one sister, Betty Zimmer of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Edward White, Damon White, Britt Roper, Michael Roper, Wilson Reynolds and Tom Reynolds.

Leonard Leo Koch

Leonard Leo Koch, 65, passed away March 22, 2002 in Bakersfield, Calif. He was born in Scranton, on Oct. 19, 1936 to Bill and Katie Koch. He was a truck driver. For the last 20 years he was employed by MP Vacuum as a field supervisor.
Rosary services were held March 26, at 7 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel in Bakersfiled, Calif. Funeral was held March 27, at St. Francis Church in Bakersfield, Calif. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Bill and Katie, brothers, Wilford and Leon Koch; son Timothy Koch.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; six children, Rick Koch of Bakersfield, Lynda (Koch) Marotta of Bakersfield and Brian Koch of Memphis Tenn. Roy Sullivan of Bakersfield, Virginia Johnson of Tehachapi, and Suzie McCabe of California City; two sisters Evelyn Fox of Paris, and Catherine Jones of Muldrow, Okla.; 19 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Mickey Graves, Myron Coon, Rick Noble, Gerald Adams, Jarrel Black and Charles Gahagan.

Alda Phillips

Alda Phillips, 83, of Charleston, died Friday, Arpil 26, 2002.
She was retired from Southwestern Rebuilders in Fort Smith. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Charleston, and Charleston First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Phillips. Her parents were P. R. Manes and Maudie Brown Manes.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30 at Smith Mortuary Chapel officiated by the Rev. Larry Horne. Burial was at Garden of Memories in Charleston under the direction of Smith Morutary of Charleston.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Barton of Charleston and Mary Lou Holt of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Charles L. Manes of Sun City, Ariz., and John H. Stewart of Fayetteville; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were the Deacon's of the First Baptist Church.

Julie Rusher

Julie Lorene Rusher, 81, of Paris died on Sunday, April 28, 2002.
She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
A private service was held on April 29 at Oakland cemetery in Clarksville under the direction of Murry Funeral Home of Paris.
She is survived by four daughters, Trish Lubin, Myrtle, Dorothy, and Kathy Rusher; four sons, James Wyene, Kenneth, Lester, and Glen Rusher; three brothers, Jack, Billy, and Joe Flint; three sisters, Rudy, Irene, and Polly Flint; 28 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
