Wayman Harris, of Chicago, Il., formerly of North Little Rock, AR passed away September 2, 2007.

Survivors include: children, Delois, William, Ricky, Tony, Wayman and Lamar Jones; brothers, Albert, Emmitt and Gerome; one sister, Rosetta and countless of nieces and nephews and other family members and special friends from Chicago and Arkansas.

Home going service will be Friday, September 7, 2007, 10:00 AM, at First Baptist Church, S A Jones Drive, North Little Rock, AR.

Family visitation will be Thursday, September 6, 2007, 6-7 PM, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester LR (501) 372.1305.

Anna Nevels

Anna Howard Nevels, 97, ofLittle Rock, AR passed away on August 31, 2007.

Her survivors include : one daughter, Cathy Nevels; three sons, Kenneth Gridiron of Los Angeles, CA, Gerald “Johnny” Johnson of Barstow, CA., and Tony Addison of Little Rock, AR; one sister, Sallie Rucker of Los Angeles, CA; a special niece, Vickie (Freddie) Adkins of Little Rock, AR., and a host of other loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Home going service will be Saturday, September 8, 2007, 10:00 AM, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 5615 Geyer Springs Road, LR.

Interment will follow at Rest In Peace Cemetery, Hensley, AR.

Viewing will be Friday, September 7, 2007, 12-5 PM, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester St. LR (501) 372.1305.

Edward Robinson

Edward Robinson, 84, of North Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on December 24, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Robinson.

Survivors include: 5 sons, Roy C., Edward, Albert and Harold Robinson of NLR, AR., Melvin of LR, AR; 4 daughters, Minnie Ruffin, Bobbie Morris, Joyce Robinson and Nancy Lynch all of NLR, AR; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other loving relatives and friends.

Home going service will be Monday, December 31, 2007, 11:30 am, at East 15th Street Church of Christ, North Little Rock, AR.

Interment will follow at Henson Cemetery, Scott, Arkansas.

Viewing will be Friday, December 28, 2007, 3-5 pm, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester St. LR (501) 372-1305.

Juanita Bowen

Juanita Bowen, formerly of Little Rock, passed away on January 4, 2008, in Austin, Texas.

She spent most of her adult life as an active member of Union A.M.E. Church in Little Rock.

She leaves to honor her memory one nephew and his wife Rhoda, of Austin TX; 1 grand nephew, Milton Smith Jr. (Toya) of Austin TX; 3 grand nieces, Yolanda Morris (Gary) of Douglasville, GA., Rita Smith Williams and Shelia Smith of Flint, MI; 5 great grand nephews, 4 great grand nieces and 1 great great grand niece and a host of other relatives and friends.

Home going service will be Saturday, January 19, 2008, 11:00 am, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Chester LR

Julius A. Profit

Julius A. Profit, 50, of Conway, AR passed away Saturday, January 12, 2008. His survivors include: parents, Jacob and Luberta Profit; brothers, Jacob Profit, Jr. and Jarvis Profit; sisters, Jackie McFadden, Jerrilyn Profit and Jocelyn Profit, a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Home going service will be Thursday, January 17, 2008, 10:00 am, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 S. Chester LR, (501) 372-1305.

Interment: Rest In Peace Cemetery, Hensley, AR.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations in the honor of Julius to the Conway Human Development Center, 150 E. Siebermorgan Road Conway, AR 72032.

Mary McDaniel

Mary Lee McDaniel, 85, of Little Rock, passed into her Lord’s loving arms on Saturday, November 3, 2007.

She leaves, a daughter, Mary Jeanett Jones; a son, Jimmy McDaniel, Jr., six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was employed by Electro Motors, a Division of General Motors, and became the first woman and the first African American President of UAW Local 719.

Funeral services: Wednesday, November 7, 2007, Moody Chapel AME Church, 800 Calhoun, 6-7 PM.

Visitation: Wednesday, 5-6PM at Moody Chapel AME Church.

Oscar Hall

Oscar Hall, 73, ofLittle Rock, AR passed away on January 2, 2008.

His survivors include: two daughters, Selinda Blevens and Shirley Loan; grandson, Lupale Lewis (Angela); great grandson, Braylon; great granddaughters, Breunna and Brittany; one sister, Annie B. Hall and a host of other relatives and friends.

Home going service will be Thursday, January 10, 2008, 12:00 noon, at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home, 1200 Chester LR (501) 372-1305.

Visitation: Wednesday, January 9, 2008, 6-7 pm, also at the funeral home.

Thelma Thornton

Thelma Thornton, 97, of Little Rock, AR passed away on September 8, 2007.

Survivors include: nephew, Jesse Harden (Eva); great niece, Sonia Renee Murchison.

Graveside services will be Saturday, September 15, 2007, 11:00 AM, at Oakland Cemetery.

Rosa Tayborn Scribner

Rosa Tayborn Scribner, 86, of Little Rock, transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 6, 2009. She was born in Scott, Arkansas to the late Calvin and Stella Tayborn. She was a member of Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Youth Director, Tutor of basic math and reading for elementary aged children, and Teacher in Vacation Bible School. She also attended the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education for many years, as an attendee and the chaperone to the many young people she escorted.

She was a fifth grade teacher at the Charlotte Stephens Elementary School in Little Rock for over 43 years, where she served on the following: the Professional Growth Committee; Curriculum Committee; and Coordinating Committee. She served as Student Council Sponsor, Grade Level Chairman, and Faculty Parliamentarian. In 1982, she was nominated by her colleagues and was honored to become a premier finalist in the National Teacher Of The Year Selection. Rosa held membership in the Arkansas Education Association, the Little Rock Classroom Teacher’s Association and the state and local Parent Teacher Associations.

Survivors include: devoted husband, Calvin; loving daughter, Carolyn Rose; 1 brother, Isaiah Tayborn (JoAnn) of North Little Rock; 4 sisters, Mary Francis Wilson of North Little Rock, Beatrice Washington of Little Rock, Carmelita Miles-Johnson and Leigh Stewart, both of Chicago, Illinois; 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce Tayborn of Chicago and Deborah Tayborn Fontenot of Salinas, California; 1 cousin, Ursula Dade-Chatman of Lynwood, Illinois; 7 “special” godchildren, Benita Annette Hogan, Andrea Pressley, Andrew Harper, Jr., Justin and Jason Gatlin, all of Little Rock, Caldwell Easter, Jr., of Houston, Texas and Byron Shells of Atlanta, Georgia.

Marie Stokes Taylor

Marie Stokes Taylor was born on January 31, 1926 in Scott, Arkansas to the late Ida Lee Mitchell and Will Stokes. She departed this life at home on Friday, April 3, 2009. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Calvin Taylor. She was preceded in death by her parents Ida Fladger and Will Stokes. She was employed with the Balch Oldsmobile family until she retired.

Mother Taylor was loved by her church family, she was a member of Eberneezer Church of God in Christ under Bishop L.T. Walker, and became a faithful member of Holy Temple Church of God in Christ when the two churches merged. She is known for having a prayer hour each day that she would not allow to be interrupted. Under the pastorate of Bishop D.L. Lindsey, she kept the faith.

Mother Taylor leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Barbara Jordan Flake of Little Rock, Arkansas; two granddaughters, Toni Denise Worrell of Little Rock, Arkansas and Donna Marie Flake of North Little Rock, Arkansas; nine great-grandchildren, Clement Lee Jackson (Kelley) of Cabot, Arkansas, Nathaniel Maxi Worrell of North Little Rock, Arkansas, NOnathan Norris Worrell(Detisha) Worrell, Brian Christopher Worrell, Mathew Shane Worrell, Krystal Denise Worrell, Brandon James Blakney, Shirley Bianca Blakney, and Jasmine Nicole Blakney; one sister, Mrs. Willie Bee Wafer of Little Rock; three great-great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Layla and Isis, all of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends; a very special caregiver, Miss Marie Whitehead of North Little Rock, Arkansas, who was present at her time of death.
