SHIRLEY TAYLOR

Funeral services for Shirley Taylor, 68, of West Helena will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 at the chapel of Roller Citizens Funeral Home. The Rev. J.E. Elliott, the Rev. Floyd Tackett and the Rev. Jay Thompson will officiate. Burial will be at Marianna Memorial Park in Marianna.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. this evening at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Taylor, born March 5, 1935 in West Helena, died Sept. 27, 2003 in West Helena.

She was employed in childcare for Dr. Vasudevan and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

She leaves her husband Ervin "Sug" Taylor of West Helena; a son and daughter-in-law Danny and Helen Taylor of Benton; a sister and brother-in-law Earline Mooney Hill and husband Maxie of Alvin, Texas; three brothers, Jessie Oasbley Mooney of Helena, Bobby and Cheryl Mooney of Moon Lake, Miss., and Wayland Mooney of West Helena.

A son William Taylor; a brother Wayne Mooney and her parents Jessie Franklin and Annie Mooney preceded her in death.

Pallbearers will be Tony Dyce, Maxie Hill, Charles Taylor, Winford Henson, Henry King, Robert Ball and Earl Jones.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home will direct services.

ANNIE BURKE

Graveside services for Annie Marie Burke of Rialto, California will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Mt. Moriah cemetery on U.S. Highway 49, west of Marvell.

Burke, a native Arkansan, was making her home in Rialto, Calif., at the time of her death.

Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at the chapel of Jackson and Highley Funeral Home.

She was a graduate of Miller High School and AM&N-UAPB; in Pine Bluff. She taught school in Clarendon before moving to Pomona, Calif. She retired from teaching in 2002 due to illness.

She was a faithful member and usher at Antioch M.B. Church in Pomona, Calif. And also taught a children's Sunday school class before her illness.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Cedric and Hilda McAdoo, Gregory McAdoo, three grandchildren, Joey, Cody, and Ashley all of San Bernardino, Calif., here brothers, two aunts, an uncle and a host of relatives and friends.

Her mother Ester H. (Hiawatha) Hawkins; her father James Garrett Sr., a brother James Garrett Jr., and a sister Laverne Hawkins and her grandparents all preceded her in death.

DELORA WASHINGTON

Funeral services for Delora Mae "Mona Lisa" Washington, 30, of West Helena will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 at the Phillips, Lee, Monroe and Desha District Center at Helena Crossing. The Rev. Noble Franklin will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial cemetery in the Southland Community.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at the chapel of Jackson and Highley Funeral Home.

Washington, born Oct. 3, 1962, to Edward Washington and the late Pearlie Mae Bell, died Sept. 23, 2003 at Helena Regional Medical Center.

She was a 1982 graduate of Central High School and was employed by Isle of Capri Casino in Lula, Miss., until her health failed.

She leaves three children Andrew Lamont Williams, Andre Deon Williams and Andrea Sharee Williams and Demario Richardson, whom she considered a son; four grandchildren Alexandrea Williams, Kyana Williams, Tyler Williams and Reagan Richardson; four sisters Carolyn Williams, Edna Gibson, Wanda Washington and Vera Davis; two brothers, Timothy Saulter and Steven Nelson.

A brother John Nelson preceded her in death.

Jackson and Highley Funeral Home in West Helena will direct services.

SYLVESTER RICHARDSON

Funeral services for Sylvester "Touge" Richardson Sr., 75, of Helena will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003 at the chapel of Jackson and Highley Funeral Home. Burial will be in Magnolia cemetery in Helena.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Jackson and Highley Funeral Home.

Richardson was born May 5, 1928 to the late Rev. Jimmy Richardson and Gertrude Richardson in Helena. He united in marriage with Ethel Lee George on April 16, 1955. Five children were born to their union.

A son Sylvester Richardson Jr. and his parents preceded him in death.

Richardson worked as a farmer for nearly 50 years until his health failed. During his retirement, he remained a loving husband, and father to his children and grandchildren. Sylvester was a funny and straightforward person and will be truly missed by all who knew him

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Ethel Lee Richardson of Helena; five daughters, Johnnie Mae Jones of East St. Louis, Ill., Shirley and Henry Donaldson of Chicago, Ill., Joyce Lee Richardson of San Antonio, Texas, Bertha and Debrah Richardson of Helena; a sister, Martha Nelson of Indianapolis, Ind., a brother and sister-in-law James and Louise Richardson of Helena; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, special nephew Willie and JoAnn Lee of West Helena and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

PAULINE TAYLOR

Graveside services for Pauline Bottorff Taylor, 90, of Marvell will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Marvell cemetery. The Rev. David Hellwig will officiate

Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Taylor, born Dec. 5, 1912 in Poplar Grove died Sept. 23, 2003 in Helena. She was a retired retail store clerk and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

She leaves two sons Dale Warren Taylor of Taunton, Ma., and David Wayne Taylor of Fairfax Station, Va., a daughter Joyce Taylor Smitherman of Memphis, Tenn., seven grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Her husband Henry Lewis Taylor preceded her in death.

Pallbearers will be Floyd Crisp and Franklin Easley.

MARY DUNAVAN

Funeral services for Mary Ruth Dunavan, 64, of Marion will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Marion. Burial will be at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.

She was of the Baptist Faith and was employed as a factory assembly line worker for Sanyo TV.

She leaves her husband Phil Dunavan of Marion; two daughters, Dianne Sorrels of Northbend, Ohio, Evonne Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla., two sons Leon Sorrels Jr., of Wynne and Ricky Sorrels of Marion; a step-son Mark Dunavan of Marion; a sister Olean Reece of Jonesboro; three brothers Charles Harris of Arkansas, Horace Harris of Modesto, Calif., and Gene Harris of Benton and seven grandchildren.

Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 Pine St., West Memphis will direct services.

TAVERON EARNEST

Funeral services for Taveron Marquis Earnest, 23, of Holly Grove will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 27 at the First Baptist Church in Holly Grove. The Rev. K.D. Allen will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery in Holly Grove.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Perfecting Christian Church in Little Rock, 7104 Mabelvale Road.

Earnest died Sept. 20, 2003 in Columbus, Ohio.

Earnest leaves is mother Alice Earnest; his father Michael Hampton; two sisters Tamara Earnest and Chavodka Parker; a brother Xavier Portis of Little Rock; his grandmothers Gertie Earnest and Mable Hampton and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Progressive Funeral Parlor in Marvell will direct services.

CARLEEN WILLIAMS

SELMER, Tenn. - Funeral services for Carleen Markham Williams of Selmer, Tenn., formerly of Jackson, Tenn., were held Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003 at the Ridgecrest cemetery. Brother Randy Mead officiated.

Williams died Sept. 22, 2003 In Selmer, Tenn.

She was the former owner of the Haroleen Superette of the Parkburg community and was a member of the Fourth Street Church of Christ of Selmer.

She leaves her mother Lilla Viola Miller of Bells; two brothers, Charles Markham and Virgil Markham of Jackson; five children, Tony Wallace of Jackson, Tim Williams of Columbia, S.C, . Ellis Williams of Marvell, Diane Williams of Jackson and Carla Hall of Selmer, Tenn., 11 grandchildren, Toni Frentzel, Terry Wallace, Shelly Williams Kuykendall of Jackson, Michelle Williams of Columbia, S.C., David Williams of Jacksonville, Oliver Wallace and Ann Wallace of Fort Myers, Fla., and Jennie Foster, Brandon Hall, Chip Stone and Leavy Stone all of Selmer; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way, and Several nieces and nephews.

Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer directed services.

ROBERT ARRIAGA

Graveside services for Robert Arriaga, 62, of Helena will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at Magnolia cemetery in Helena. The Rev. Joe Greer will officiate.

Arriaga was born Jan. 19, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas and died June 8, 2004 at Helena Regional Medical Center.

He was a longtime employee and friend of Rev. Joe Greer at Greer's Auto Body Shop in Helena.

He leaves to cherish his memory a wife and two children and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 204 at the chapel of J.M. Calhoun Funeral Home at 230 Walnut Street in Helena.

J.M. Calhoun Funeral Home will direct services.

JAMES GRIFFIN

Funeral services for James Griffin, 94, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004 at Jackson Highley Funeral Home.

Griffin was born June 1, 1908 and died June 3, 2004 at Helena Regional Medical Center after a prolonged illness from natural causes.

Jackson-Highley Funeral Home of West Helena will direct services.

DEANDRE FITZGERALD

Funeral services for DeAndre Martel Fitzgerald Jr., the 22-month-old son of Kimberly Anderson and DeAndre Martel Fitzgerald Sr., of Helena will be held at noon Saturday, June 12, 2004 at the Fredonia Baptist Church in West Helena. The Rev J.W. Frierson will officiate. Burial will be at Magnolia cemetery in Helena.

The baby born Aug. 9, 2002, died June 9, 2004 at Helena Regional Medical Center.

He also leaves a brother Kamon Fitzgerald; his paternal grandparents Leonard Fitzgerald and Palestine Fitzgerald and maternal grandparents Wardell and Mae Cora Anderson of Helena and Shirley Jean Gamble of Lake View; great grandfather Jim Harris Sr., of Helena, four aunts, Ebony Gammon, Cassandra Anderson and Zaqira Fitzgerald of Helena, Lorene Anderson of Little Rock; three uncles Jason Anderson and Ellis Fitzgerald of Helena and Orvis Clark of Little Rock, and special friend Laquana Jackson.
