ELMO K. BLACK, THE SON OF HUBERT EDWIN AND MYRTLE
TRUCLELL BLACK WAS BORN IN MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN ON
JUNE 29, 1923 AND passed away IN CONWAY, ARKANSAS ON
JANUARY 24, 2003 AT THE AGE OF 79 YEARS.
MR. BLACK WAS A RETIRED BUSINESSMAN IN SALES OF
HOUSEHOLD EQUIPMENT AND LITITATURE. HE WAS A MAMBER OF
THE ST. FRANCIS CATHOLIC CHURCH OF FAIRFIELD BAY AND A
VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES NAVY HAVING SERVED IN
WORLD WAR II. HE WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE
VALERIE A. BENDIX BLACK ON APRIL 22~ 2001. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS
THREE DAUGHTERS COLLEEN L. BLACK OF KEY WEST, FLORIDA,
KATHLEEN BLACK NASH OF HURLEYVILLE, NEW YORK AND
EILEEN MARIE BALCK OF NAPLES, FLORIDA, ONE GRAND
DAUGHTER JULIA VALERIE KIENZLE OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD TUESDAY JANUARY 28,
AT 11:00 AM AT THE ST. FRANCIS CATHOIC CHURCH IN FAIRFIELD
BAY, ARKANSAS BY OLMSTEAD FUNERAL HOME, INC. OF HEBER
SPRINGS.

Birthel Fisher

Birthel Fisher, daughter of the late Floyd and Emmy
(Grissom) Goff passed away Friday. January 24, 2003 at
Baptist Hospital in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born in
Yell county, Arkansas on February 28, 1911, she was 91
years of age. Birthel lived in Cleburne county all
of her life. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Freewill
Baptist Church, loved gardening, was a homemaker, mother,
grandmother, great grandmother, and a great great-
grandmother. Besides her parents she was preceded
In death by her husband Floyd in 1969, a brother, Garland
Goff and a sister, Lavester Akins. She is survived by her
daughters, Freda Six of Searcy, Ima Gene Doyle of
Ravenelle, South Carolina, Erma Gene Farnam of
Quitman, Elvena Taylor of Heber Springs, and Marketa
Murray of Rose Bud. A sister, Geneva Newton of Cabot,
17 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, many great-
great, grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation started Saturday 1:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
in Heber Springs. Services were held Monday, 2:00 p.m. at Wesley Chapel
Freewill Baptist church with Rev. Terry Hill officiating. Interment
Followed at Wesley Chapel cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were, Billy Fisher,
Loy Everett Fisher, Sam Brown, Delbert Newton, Gary Tulley and Jesus Alfaro.
Arrangements were by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Clara Mae Gardner Brittain

Mrs. Clara Mae Gardner Brittain of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Monday, January 27, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born September 30, 1904, at Higden, Arkansas, Mrs. Brittain was 98 years of age. She was the daughter of the late John and Lucy (Halmark) Odom.
Mrs. Brittain was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Cleburne County. She enjoyed gardening and sewing and was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the Quitman Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Gardner, in 1974 and by her husband, Roy C. Brittain, in 1983. Mrs. Brittain was also preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Gardner and Jackie Gardner.
Survivors include: her daughter: Bonnie Linn of Sonora, California her grandson: Norman Linn of Quitman, Arkansas her granddaughters: Ann Linn of Merced, California And Beckey Gardner of Redding, California her great granddaughters: Tara Imelio of Modesto, California and Lora Linn of Quitman, Arkansas and other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Brittain is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Services for Mrs. Brittain will be held Wednesday, January 29, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Interment will follow in the Quitman cemetery.

Mrs. Charlean S. Pringle

Mrs. Charlean S. Pringle, formerly of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at the home of her son, Dr. David L. Pringle, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Born in Milan, Missouri, on September 4, 1914, she was the daughter of the late James and Eda (Green) Loder.
She was a graduate of Milan High School. On March 3, 1936, she married Everett Gittings Pringle in Michigan. They moved to Goshen, Indiana, where Dr. Pringle was a veterinarian. Upon his retirement in 1965, the couple moved to Arkansas. Mrs. Pringle was a member of the First Baptist Church of Heber Springs and was a former Sunday School teacher. Her husband preceded her in death on February 14, 1996. She was also preceded in death by one son, Jon Thomas Pringle. Mrs. Pringle moved from Heber Springs in April of 2002.
Survivors include:
One son: Dr. David L. Pringle and his wife, Carol, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin One brother: James Loder and his wife, Marie, of Carmel, California One grandson: David D. Pringle of San Diego, California
One granddaughter: Lisa hansen and her husband, Rick, of Stevens Point, Wisconsin One great grandson: Ryan D. Hansen of Stevens Point, Wisconsin
and one great granddaughter: Samantha L. Hansen of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Mrs. Pringle is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pringle will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. J. R. DeBusk officiating. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Roy (Doc) A. Wildman

Roy (Doc) A. Wildman of Heber Springs, Arkansas, died January 29, 2003, at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born on June 14, 1923, at Heber Springs, Arkansas, Mr. Wildman was 79 years of age. He was the son of the late Robert M. and Pearl (Hancock) Wildman.
Mr. Wildman lived and farmed most of his life near Heber Springs. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army and participated in the Battle of Okinawa. His religious belief was Baptist. His wife, Lola Bonner Wildman, preceded him in death on July 24, 1978. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Wildman, and sister, Christine Cagle.
He is survived by:
two sons: Stanley Wildman and his wife, Judy, of Heber Springs, AR and Randy Wildman and his wife, Sondre, of Heber Springs, AR one daughter: Carla Holland and her husband, Kevin, of Bee Branch, AR two sisters: Doris Murphree and her husband, Bill, of Flint, Michigan and Eunice Newman of Atwater, California
eight grandchildren: Mark Wildman and his wife, Kristal, J. R. Wildman, Steaven Wildman, and Hannah Wildman, Chris Walker and his wife, Penny, Travis Holland, Kayla Holland, and Colton Holland
four great grandchildren: Alexi James Wildman, Anna Wildman, Breanna Walker, and Cody Walker
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 31, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olinstead Funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2:00 P.M. at South Cross
Roads Church with Rev. Michael Morrison officiating. Interment will fellow in South Cross Roads cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Wildman, J. R. Wildman, Steaven Wildman, Chris Walker, Jody Wildman, and Sonny Cagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd (Piney) Wildman and Bill Murphree. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Martha L. (Ona) Clay Kerr

Martha L. (Ona) Clay Kerr the daughter of Charlie C.
and Mary E. Quattlebalm Clay went to be with the lord
on Saturday, February 1, 2003. She was born in
Gravel Hill, Arkansas on August 3, 1907 and passed away
In Heber Springs, Arkansas at the age of 95 years.
Mrs. Kerr was a dedicated member of the Howard
General Baptist Church and its quilting club as long
as her health permitted. She also enjoyed crocheting and
spending time with her children, grandchildren, and
great grandchildren. She was a loyal housewife.
Mother and grandmother and was a blessing to all who
knew her. She will be sadly but lovingly missed by all
who knew her. She had been a resident of Quitman for the
past 67 years and had also lived in the Rose Bud community.
Mrs. Kerr was preceded in death by her husband W. V. (Pete)
Kerr. Her parents Charlie and Mary Clay, three brothers
and one sister.
She is survived by five sons: Hubert of Houston, Texas, Bill
and Charles of Quitman, Wilcher of Little Rock and Edwin
of Texarkana. Two daughters Helen Williams of
Jacksonville and Mary Ausbrooks of East End. Sixteen
Grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and
Seven great great grandchildren. She is also survived by
other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be on Monday February 3, 2003 from 6:00
Until 8:00 pm at Olmstead Funeral home. Funeral services
will be at 10:00 am Tuesday February 4, 2003 in the Howard
General Baptist Church near Quitman with interment in
Center Point cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Kerry Smith
and Rev. Eldin Hodges. The pallbearers will be grandsons.
Arrangements conducted by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
of Heber Springs, Arkansas.

MICHAEL ANDREW CHUNDAK

MICHAEL ANDREW CHUNDAK THE SON OF ANDREW AND
ANNETTE FAY CHUNDAK WAS BORN IN YOUNKERS, NEW YORK
ON SEPTEMBER 14, 1942 AND passed away IN LITTLE ROCK,
ARKANSAS ON FEBRUARY 2, 2003 AT THE AGE OF 60 YEARS.
MR. CHUNDAK WAS RETIRED FROM THE UNITED STATES
AIR FORCE AND THE GSA OF LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF ST. ALBERTS CATHOLIC CHURCH OF
HEBER SPRINGS. HE WAS PROCEEDED IN DEATH BY A SON
MICHAEL CHUNDAK. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE EILEEN A.
DRISCOLL CHUNDAK OF HEBER SPRINGS. TWO DAUGHTERS
KATHLEEN SMITH OF CONWAY AND MAUREEN FRAZIER OF
HEBER SPRINGS, ONE BROTHER JOSEPH A CHUNDAK OF HEBER
SPRINGS AND ONE SISTER MARYANNE MURPHY OF HURRICANE
UTAH AND EIGHT GRANDCIHLDREN.
A VIGIL WILL BE HELD TUESDAY FEBRUARY 4 AT 7:00 PM IN THE
OLMSTEAD CHAPEL WITH VISITATION STARTING AT 6:00 PM

Naomi Katherine “Kitty” Janzen Nelson

Naomi Katherine “Kitty” Janzen Nelson, 83, passed away after a brief illness Friday, January 31, 2003 at John F. Kennedy Hospital in lndio, California. Kitty was born in Emporia Kansas, but lived in central Arkansas most of her life. She happily spent her life in loving service to her family and many friends as well as to others through her work, which officially ended in 1980 when she retired as Activities Director of the Willow House in North Little Rock. In her retirement she enjoyed most her membership and faithful service in Brownsville Baptist Church with her husband Lonnie Nelson, who preceded her in death. She also recently enjoyed two years of service to Central Baptist Church in India, California.
She is survived by her son Ben Thomson of North Little Rock; her son, Tommy Thomson, and his wife Judee, of India, California and two sisters: Mary Frances “Fanny” Riley of Chilhowee Missouri and Dorothy Elizabeth “Libby” Lewis of Coachella, California. She is also survived by her three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from 5-7 pm at Olmstead Funeral Home in Heber Springs, Arkansas.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at Brownsville Baptist Church, Brownsville, Arkansas at 2:00 pm.
A memorial service will also be held on Tuesday at Central Baptist Church in Indio, California.

Mr. Frank James Sedlacek

Mr. Frank James Sedlacek of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Sunday,
February 2, 2003, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little
Rock, Arkansas. Born March 1, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Sedlacek was
67 years of age. He was the son of the late Charles and Frances (Holinka)
Sedlacek.
Mr. Sedlacek was a retired supervisor of the catalog department for Dana
Corporation, having been employed there for 39 years. He was a veteran of the
United States Army. A resident of Greers Ferry for the past five years, Mr. Sedlacek
was active in the community. He served as President of the Greers Ferry Optimist
Club, President of the AARP chapter in Greers Ferry, and was an EMS ambulance
driver. He also served as a City Councilman for Greers Ferry and did volunteer
work with the Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church.
Survivors include:
his wife: Viola Jenneve (Wallenta) Sedlacek of Greers Ferry, AR
two daughters: Lynn Kozicki of Ingleside, Illinois
and Diane Taylor of Monee, Illinois
one sister: Charlotte Bell of Sherman, Texas
and three grandchildren.
Mr. Sedlacek is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 6, at 11:00 A.M. at the Fairfield
Bay Baptist Church with Rev. Ronny Waycaster officiating. Memorials may be made
to the Fairfield Bay Baptist Church or Greers Ferry EMS. Arrangements are by
Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Lura A. Bowman

Mrs. Lura A. Bowman of Concord, Arkansas, passed away Monday, February 3,
2003, at her home. Born in Concord, Arkansas, on September 2, 1921, Mrs. Bowman
was 81 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Alford A. and Mary Fransis
(Ellis) Elms Martin.
A lifetime resident of Concord, Mrs. Bowman was a homemaker and mother and a
retired hairdresser. She was a charter member of the Concord First Baptist Church.
Her husband, Ermal H. Bowman, preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Bowman was also
preceded in death by two sons, Edwin Lynn Bowman and Ermal Eugene Bowman; nine
brothers, Earl and Walter Elms, Monrow, Henery, Georgie, Elma Edward, Orbra, Ezra,
and Floyd Martin; three sisters, Monnie Elms Gage Davis, Lillie Elms Bishop, and Lola
Martin Jenkins; and her son-in-law, Tom Davey.
She is survived by:
one son: Eldon Bowman of Concord, Arkansas
one daughter: Deloris Davey of Mansfield, Texas
one sister: Pearlie Gentry of Concord, Arkansas
eleven grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 daughters-in-law, and her
many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bowman is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bowman will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at 10:00 A.M. in
the Concord First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Millikin and Rev. Noble Wiles
officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord cemetery. Arrangements are by
Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
