BORN IN HEBER SPRINGS, DECEMBER 3, 1922 TO THE LATE ROBERT BREWER AND JESSIE (CHESTNUT) LOVE, HE WAS 81 YEARS OF AGE. JAMES AND HIS WIFE JESSIE HAD CELEBRATED 58 YEARS OF MARRIAGE. JAMES WAS A HEAVY MOBIL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, AN ARMY VETERAN OF WWII, SERVING IN THE ALEUTIANS ISLANDS, THE BATTLE OF THE BLUDGE, BRIDGE OF REMAGEN, AND SERVED IN THE BERLIN CRISIS WITH THE NATIONAL GUARD 172 ENGINEERING DIVISION. HE WAS AWARDED 4 BRONZE STARS. HE IS ALSO RETIRED FROM THE NATIONAL GUARD AT CAMP ROBINSON, ARKANSAS. LOYD WILLARD JOHNSTON, BORN AT QUITMAN, ARKANSAS ON APRIL 11, 1935, passed away TUESDAY, MAY 11, 2004 AT CENTRAL ARKANSAS HOSPITAL IN SEARCY, ARKANSAS. HE WAS 69 YEARS OF AGE. LOYD LIVED IN THE QUITMAN AREA ALL HIS LIFE. HE WAS A RETIRED TRUCK DRIVER FOR THE TEAMSTERS, A US ARMY VETERAN, A MEMBER OF GOODLOE BAPTIST CHURCH AT QUITMAN, ARKANSAS, A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN LEGION, AND ENJOYED PLAYING MUSIC. LOYD WAS preceded in death BY HIS FATHER, HERBERT JOHNSTON. BORN IN ROSE BUD, ARKANSAS ON DECEMBER 8, 1941 TO THE LATE DICK C. AND ETHEL (JONES) CLARK, SHE WAS 62 YEARS OF AGE. DOROTHY WAS A GRADUATE OF ROSE BUD HIGH SCHOOL WHERE SHE PLAYED BASKETBALL FOR THE ROSE BUD RAMBLERS AND A MEMBER OF FRIENDSHIP FREEWILL BAPTIST CHURCH A T HOPEWELL, ARKANSAS. Tonya Lyn Ervin

Tonya Lyn Ervin, age 30, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Monday, May 17, 2004. Tonya was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 22, 1974. She was the daughter of Brady C. and Ginger Ann (Pate) Ervin. Tonya had been a resident of Heber Springs most of her life. She was a graduate of Heber Springs High School and was an employee of S-B Power Tool Company. She was a Christian. Tonya is survived by: her son, Dustin Alan McClain of Heber Springs, AR, her parents, Brady and Ginger Ervin of Heber Springs, AR, and her sister and brother-in-law, Gwen Ervin-McLarty and Kelly McLarty of Little Rock, AR. Tonya is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 18, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 19, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Mr. Farris Leroy McCoy

Mr. Farris Leroy McCoy, age 77, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004, at Beverly HealthCare in Heber Springs. Born in Quitman, Arkansas, on July 7, 1926, Farris was son of the late Thomas and Martha (Owen) McCoy. Farris has been a loving and devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He has been a resident of Heber Springs since 1974, after retiring from American Oil Company in Detroit, Michigan. He was a veteran. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and a member of the Lost Creek Golf Club. Farris served seventeen years with the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Department as a deputy and several years as constable. He will be deeply missed. Farris was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda McCoy; his brothers, Walter, Clarence, Owen, and Wayne McCoy; and his sisters, Elsie Ballentine, Jewell Maddox, Alta Wolfe, and Ada Roberts. Survivors include: his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and J. Dennis Devine of Heber Springs, AR, two sisters, Marvell Massey and Vernell Phillips, both of Quitman, AR, twin granddaughters, Lindsey and Loren Devine of Heber Springs, AR, and numerous relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 21, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 22, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Flora Mae Robinson

Mrs. Flora Mae Robinson, age 75, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Beverly HealthCare in Heber Springs. Born in Booneville, Arkansas, on June 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late R. C. Chappell, Sr. and Hazel Hammond Chappell. Mrs. Robinson was a former resident of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and she had lived in Heber Springs for six years. She was a retired waitress and enjoyed her hobbies of fishing, reading, and working crossword puzzles. Mrs. Robinson’s religious belief was Freewill Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Robinson. Survivors include two sons, Gerald Fielding and his wife, Belinda, of Heber Springs, AR, and Doyle Wayne Robinson of Preston, Mississippi, one daughter, Barbara Sink of Winston Salem, North Carolina two brothers, Norman Chappell of Clarksville, AR, and Bobby Chappell of Tennessee one sister, Shelby Jean Phillips of Ft. Smith, AR, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Robinson is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Mrs. Erma Susan Watson

Mrs. Erma Susan Watson, age 90, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs. Born in Ft. Stockton, Texas, on March 25, 1914, Mrs. Watson was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ollie (Altman) DeSpain. Mrs. Watson was a graduate of Abilene Christian College. She was a former resident of Abilene, Texas, and had lived in Heber Springs since 1987. Mrs. Watson was a homemaker and loved flowers and shopping. She was a member of Heber Springs Church of Christ and was very active in the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Delaney Watson, and by her daughter, Dixie Strackbein. Survivors include several brothers and sisters and her son-in-law, Ed Strackbein of Greenbrier, AR. Mrs. Watson is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 24, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 25, at 2:00 P.M. at Heber Springs Church of Christ with Lance Mays officiating. Interment will follow in Pearson cemetery. James Samuel Mizell

James Samuel Mizell, 72, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, died Monday, May 3, 2004, at his home. He was born October 29, 1931, to Jesse and Ella (Hutcheson) Mizell of Crowell Mountain at Scotland, Arkansas. He was a retired timber worker for a greater part of his life and spent most of his life in Van Buren County, Arkansas. Survivors include one son, Larry and wife, Susan, of Wasilla, Alaska, two sisters, Polly Weeks and husband, Wallace, of Monroe, Louisiana, and Wanda Blair of Lowell, AR, seven grandchildren, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Mizell.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 28, at 2:00 P.M. in the Walnut Grove cemetery near Scotland, AR. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Frances Viva Raglin

Mrs. Frances Viva Raglin, age 81, of Tumbling Shoals, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born October 3, 1922, in Greenwood, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Robert Byrd and Bessie (Hovis) Hale. Mrs. Raglin was a former resident of West Memphis, Arkansas, and had lived at Tumbling Shoals for twenty years. She was a retired payroll clerk for Armstrong Cork Company. Mrs. Raglin enjoyed gardening and flowers, and she loved cats. She was a member of the Humane Society, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and First Baptist Church of West Memphis. Mrs. Raglin was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Fay Raglin and Melody Lee Raglin; one brother, Buddy Hovis; and one sister, Wilma Hovis. She is survived by her husband, Finis E. Raglin of Tumbling Shoals, AR, and one granddaughter, Rachel Lee Raglin of Heber Springs, AR. Mrs. Raglin is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 28, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 29, at 11:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Timothy Raglin and Dr. J. R. Mr. Jesse E. Knapp

Mr. Jesse E. Knapp, age 74, of Wilburn, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born in Paris, Arkansas, on December 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Daver Crockett and Anna Mae (Lawson) Knapp. Mr. Knapp was a logger and had lived at Wilburn most of his life. He was a member of the 7th Day Church of God. His wife, Shelby J. (Lackey) Knapp preceded him in death on December 12, 1999. Survivors include two sons, Jesse Jack Knapp and Kevin Knapp, both of Wilburn, AR, four daughters, Crisandra Whitener, Susan Knapp, and Jessica Brown, all of Wilburn, AR, and Marla Chalk of Quitman, AR, one brother, Samuel A. Knapp of Tyler, AR, two sisters, Alice and June, both of Pine Snag, AR, and fourteen grandchildren. Mr. Knapp is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will begin at noon on Saturday, May 29, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 30, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Randy Altom officiating. Interment will follow in the Knapp Family cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Wright, Shane Brown, Jesse J. Knapp, Jesse P. Mrs. Ruby C. Kamberling

Mrs. Ruby C. Kamberling, age 83, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Indian Rock Village in Fairfield Bay. Born August 6, 1920, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Ruby Wean Young. She and her late husband, Leo, moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, in 1969, where she worked in the Fairfield Bay accounting department until retiring in 1984. The Kamberlings moved to Clinton, Arkansas, in 1995. She was a charter member of the Cornerstone Evangelical Church and was a charter member of the V.F.W. #4513 Ladies Auxiliary and also of the D.A.V. Loved ones who preceded her in death include her husband, Leo, one brother, one daughter, two sons, one granddaughter, one great-grandson, and three nephews. Survivors include one son, Darrell Goodall and his wife, Kathy, of Ontario, Wisconsin, three stepsons, Terry Kamberling and his wife, Carla, and Dennis Kamberling of Columbus, Ohio, and David Kamberling of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, four grandchildren, Lea Ann (Brad) Goodall Hanson and Dennis (Amy) Goodall, all of Wisconsin, Tammy (Dennis) Pusatera and Bart (Kristin) Chrisman of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, ten great grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter, three step grandchildren, and three step great grandchildren, one sister, Madge Morrow of Hiawatha, Iowa, one niece, Claudia Young, and sister-in-law, Bonnie Young of Marion, Iowa, and a host of friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, June 13, 2004 at 1:30 pm in the Corner Stone Evangelical Church with Rev. Willard Paden officiating.

Emmett Audus Tipton

Emmett Audus Tipton, age 84, of Shirley, Arkansas, passed away on Memorial Day, May 31, 2004. He was born in Guy, Arkansas, on April 17, 1920. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Tipton and Frances A. Henderson Tipton; three brothers, Jack, Wade, and Harold Tipton; and two sisters, Sula May Custer and Lee Tipton. He is survived by his loving wife, Melba Tipton, one daughter, Patricia Tipton Emmons and her husband, David, two stepsons, Anthony George and his wife, Flo, and Randolph George and his wife, Cindy, two brothers, Allen Tipton of Cabot, AR, and A. L. Tipton of California, one granddaughter, Tia Charleen Murchison and her husband, Blake, four step-grandchildren, Megan and Brandon George and Katrina and Travis George two great grandchildren, Stephen Blake and Alexandra Kennedy Muchison. Emmett excelled in any sport he played: baseball, where he pitched in the minor leagues before joining the Navy in 1941, softball, bowling, golf, and fishing. He could also play any musical instrument by ear. Emmett was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He was stationed aboard the U.S.S. St. Louis when the attack occurred. He retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer in 1959. Emmett was always active in his community, veterans affairs, and in the Pearl Harbor Survivors groups.

Visitation will be held at Woodland Memorial Park Chapel at Edgemont on Wednesday, June 2, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, at 2:00 P.M., in the Shirley Church of Christ with Ray Earnhart officiating. Interment with full military honors by the U. S. Navy Honor Guard will follow in the Eglantine cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh Little, Jim Berry, Mike Bradford, Barry Tipton, Billy Fosko, and Jeff Hall. Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Tipton, A. L. Tipton, Watson Smith, and Jack Towery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Eglantine cemetery Building Fund. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs.

Earnest Joe Fife

Earnest Joe Fife, age 47, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, passed away Monday, May 31, 2004, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born June 17, 1956, at Shiloh, Arkansas, he was the son of Sherman and Mary Jo (Carr) Fife. Earnest was a lifetime resident of Greers Ferry and was a factory maintenance worker. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Shawn Flannagan and Delite Fife of Greers Ferry, AR, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Fife of Greers Ferry, AR, three brothers, Junior Fife of Greers Ferry, AR, Brickey Fife of Hope, AR, and Michael Fife of Batesville, AR, one daughter, Stephanie Evans of Heber Springs, AR, two grandchildren, Alexis Renee and Hope Elizabeth, and his friend, Brenda Chapman of Greers Ferry, AR. Earnest is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 2, at the family home beginning at 10:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, at 2:00 P.M. in Shiloh Cross Roads Church with Rev. Darvin Carlton officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cross Roads cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Carr, Toby Fife, Mike Fife, Jason Gentry, Dennis Walker, and Terry Taylor. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs.

Alice "Nellie" Garrett

On Monday, May 31, 2004, Nellie Garrett left her earthly home to join her Lord and Savior. She was born June 13, 1920, in Munday, Texas, and had retired in Arkansas after living on a cattle farm in Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert (Bob) Garrett; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Coffey; and 13 brothers and sisters. She was a most devoted member of Rose Bud Church of Christ, loved by her church family. Survived by daughter, Dorothy Patton of San Diego, California, son, Corbett Garrett and wife, Diann, of Romance, AR, grandchildren, Christie Walsh, Lisa Price, and Bob Patton, all of California, Tony Garrett of Judsonia, AR, Jennifer Fowler and Jason Gann of Cabot; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Austin, and Brianna Walsh, all of California, and Tyler Fowler of Cabot, AR, also survived by many nieces and nephews including Donald Lee, Joe and James and families. Nellie was a special friend, mother, aunt, and grandmother. She lived life to the fullest and was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure to know her. Everyone loved her cookies, her remedies, and her kind words. She loved gardening, baking, her church family, and spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, June 1. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 2:00 P.M. in the Rose Bud Church of Christ with George Tibbs officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Bud cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Moore, Tom Micks, Heath Mote, Mitch McKay, Carl Rodgers, and Donald Lee Coffee. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc., Heber Springs.

FINCH WAS A DAIRY FARMER, HE WAS A NAVY VETERAN WHO ENJOYED FISHING AND WINNING FISHING TOURNAMENTS. HIS RELIGIOUS BELIEF WAS METHODIST. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE ELFRIEDE DUCHT FINCH OF QUITMAN, ONE SON JOHN FINCH OF STOUGHTON, WISCONSIN AND TWO STEP SONS: GREGORY WILLIAM LUETSCHWAGER AND WIFE BEVERLY OF QUITMAN, ARKANSAS AND BYRON GLENN LUETSCHWAGER AND WIFE SHERRY OF HEBER SPRINGS, ARKANSAS. Thomas Jefferson Jackson

Thomas Jefferson Jackson, age 99, of Quitman, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Heber Springs, Arkansas. Born February 21, 1905, at Quitman, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Arthur Marion and Emma Lee (Hodges) Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a retired farmer and had been a resident of Cleburne County most of his life. He was a humanitarian. His wife, Ila Estelle Ward Jackson, preceded him in death on January 9 of this year. Mr. Jackson was also preceded in death by two sisters, Tennie Swift and Rena Johnston. Survivors include two daughters, Emma Lee Skinner of Quitman, AR, and Patricia Nell Nevil of Alexander, AR, four grandchildren, Claudine Steffens, Martin Skinner, Michael Skinner, and Christopher Nevil, six great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Mr. Jackson is also survived by other relatives and his many friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 8, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Bill Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Pearson cemetery. Pallbearers will be Christopher Nevil, Leon Nevil, Martin Skinner, Michael Skinner, Thomas Steffens, and Rick Steffens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Eurline Sooter

Mrs. Eurline Sooter, age 87, of Pangburn, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, June 10, 2004, at Byrd Haven Nursing Home in Searcy, Arkansas. Born January 14, 1917, at Pangburn, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Josie (Davis) Hardcastle. Mrs. Sooter was a retired beautician, and she was a member of First Baptist Church at Pangburn. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tommy Max Sooter; and one brother, Truman Hardcastle. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Sooter of Pangburn, AR, two daughters, Linda Ring of Hot Springs Village, AR, and Patty Pearce of Searcy, AR, two sisters, Avanelle Baker of Georgia, and Lillie Mae Smith of Dallas, Texas, and four grandchildren. Mrs. Sooter is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 11, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 12, at 10:30 A.M. in the Henderson cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Phyllis Kay (Johnson) Brockmann

Mrs. Phyllis Kay (Johnson) Brockmann, age 60, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 10, 2004. Born at Etowah, Arkansas, on July 9, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Land and Lorene (Wheeler) Johnson. Mrs. Brockmann was a former resident of St. Louis, Missouri, and had lived in Heber Springs since 1984. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God. Mrs. Brockmann especially enjoyed music. Survivors include one son, Robert Brockmann of Heber Springs, AR, one daughter, Monica Brockmann of St. Louis, Missouri, four brothers, R. M. Johnson and Charles Johnson, both of Dallas, Texas, Doug Kennedy of Osceola, AR, and Larry Kennedy of Fayetteville, AR, four sisters, Pat Butler of Bastrop, Louisiana, Linda Beason of Dallas, Texas, Jean Cashion of St. Louis, Missouri, and Betty Brooks of Bruno, Missouri, and three grandchildren, Danielle Gifford and Kelly Brockmann, both of St. Louis, Missouri, and Robin Brockmann of Heber Springs, AR. Mrs. Brockmann is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 12, at 2:00 P.M. at the First Assembly of God with Rev. Lee Brown officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Brockmann, Kevin Brockmann, Jesse Hall, Chris Bulla, Danny Miller, James Perkinson, George Gifford, and D. J. Johnson. Zilmer A. Ring

Zilmer A. Ring, age 86, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Southridge Village Nursing Center in Heber Springs. Born September 10, 1917, in Cleveland, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Nick D. and Minnie (Brock) Ring. Mr. Ring was a truck driver for Gordons Transports, Inc. of Memphis, Tennessee, for 40 years. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church of West Memphis, Arkansas, and Teamsters Local 667 of Memphis, Tennessee. Survivors are: his wife, Marline (Tucker) Ring of Heber Springs, AR, one son, Nick Ring and his wife, Mary Jo, of Cabot, AR, two daughters, Sharron Ring McGugan of West Memphis, AR, and Charlette Ring Bledsoe and her husband, Steve, of Bartlett, Tennessee, two grandchildren, Chris Ring and Cindy Ring Belisomo, and one great grandchild, Anna Garris Ring.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 14, from 5-8 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs. Services are Tuesday, June 15, at 4:30 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Jerry Holcomb officiating. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens at Heber Springs. Mr. Chestene J. Edwards

Mr. Chestene J. Edwards, age 86, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at White County Medical Center in Searcy. Born in Quitman, Arkansas, on November 25, 1917, he was the son of the late Joe and Henrietta (Kesslo) Edwards. Mr. Edwards was retired from Harrison Steel Factory in Attica, Indiana. He was a former resident of Greenbrier, Arkansas, and had lived in Searcy since 1995. Mr. Edward’s religious belief was Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Monteen Edwards, on January 21, 2000. Mr. Edwards was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jessie Edwards and Gene Edwards. He is survived by one son, Ray Edwards of Clinton, AR, two daughters, Shauna Vodehnal and her husband, Gary, of Searcy, AR, and Evelyn West and her husband, Ron, of Heber Springs, AR, four sisters, Ruth Rushin and Eva Jo Wilderman, both of Attica, Indiana, Florene Nored of Modesto, and Annelle Rushin of Clear Lake, California Brother-in-law and good friend, Leo Norad of Modesto, California, Five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, other relatives, and his many friends.

Visitation for Mr. Edwards will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Friday, June 18, at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, June 19, at 10:00 A.M. in the Copperas Springs cemetery in Guy with Bro. Jim Henderson officiating. Mrs. Gladys C. Cupp

Mrs. Gladys C. Cupp, age 62, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Monday, June 21, 2004, at White County Medical Center in Searcy, Arkansas. Born January 23, 1942, at Palmyra, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Juanita (Moore) Collins Woodrome and the late Clinton Collins. Mrs. Cupp had been a resident of Heber Springs since 1999, and she loved fishing and camping. She retired from Entergy with 36 and a half years of service and had been a gate attendant for 4 years at the John F. Kennedy Park. Mrs. Cupp was a member of the First Immanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. She is survived by her husband, Jessie Cupp of Heber Springs, AR, her mother, Juanita Woodrome of Pine Bluff, AR, one daughter, Lisa Bevill of Heber Springs, AR, two stepsons, Danny Ray Cupp of Star City, AR, and J. A. Cupp of Tupelo, Mississippi, one stepdaughter, Debbie Davis of Tupelo, Mississippi, one brother, Larry Collins of Pine Bluff, AR, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Mrs. Cupp is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 23, at 1:00 P.M. in South Cross Roads Church with Rev. Jim Wiley officiating. Interment will follow in South Cross Roads cemetery. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Mrs. Patricia Constance Rushing

Mrs. Patricia Constance Rushing, age 75, of Mabelvale, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2004, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born July 3, 1928, at Waukesha, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Henry H. and Matie R. (Gilliman) Schwenn. Patricia retired from Belden Corporation of Clinton after 18 years of service. She was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, and her religious belief was Baptist. She was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Patricia was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Rushing, a granddaughter, Melissa Nicole Rushing, a sister, Marilyn Stockenger, and a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Sheets. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, George J. Rushing of Mabelvale, AR, four sons, Bob and Patti Rushing of Bella Vista, AR, Mike and Mena Rushing of Heber Springs, AR, David and Becky Rushing of Conway, AR, and Greg and Regina Rushing of Clinton, AR one daughter, Lou Rushing of Mabelvale, AR, a daughter-in-law, Sandy Rushing of Snyder, Texas, two sisters of Wisconsin, 24 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons. Patricia is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, June 21, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 22, at 2:00 P.M. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Roy Dale Clark and Rev. James Lovell officiating. Interment will follow in Pee Dee cemetery.
