Betty Conaster
Betty Jo Conatser, 72, of Hope, died Thursday, January 23, 2003.
She was a homemaker, of the Baptist faith and the daughter of Archie and Vina Brown Jackson.
Survivors include: husband, Charles Conatser; two sons, Michael Edward Conatser of Murfreesboro and Steven Dale Conatser of Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Sherry Lynn Treece of Arkadelphia, Angela Kay McCallum of Arkadelphia and Pamela Kay Key of Hope; one brother, Early Durell Jackson of Prescott; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were Saturday, January 25, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Pleasant Home cemetery near Murfreesboro by Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Billie Almond
Mrs. Billie M. Almond, 76, of Prescott, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Christus St. Michael Health System, Texarkana, Texas.
She was born January 4, 1927, in Louisiana to Hoyt and Lenoa Edmonds Rainwater. She was a housewife, and a Baptist.
Her survivors include: her husband, Mack Almond of Prescott; one son, Bill Almond of Camden, two step-daughters, Sharon Lee of Texarkana, Ark. and Jean Rutledge and Ron of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren, Brian Harris, Meshanna Adams, Michele Nichols, Misty Cox, Billie Faust, Petey Glaze and Chuck Glaze; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m., Friday, April 11, 2003, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Raymond Hicks officiating. Burial followed in Caney cemetery in Caney. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Thursday, April 10, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at the Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home.

Clarice Theobold
Clarice Morrow Theobolt, 79, went home to be with her Savior on April 5, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.W. (Tump) and Alma Morrow; one brother, Hubert Doyle Morrow; a baby sister, Bertie Lorine Dallas Morrow; her husband, Bryan Theobolt, and one grandson, Jack Donner.
She is survived by her four daughters, Rosie Harnden and Scotty, Geta Hershberger and Carl, Betty Donner and Nick, and Connie Theobolt; one brother, Herbert Morrow and Joan; five sister, Marie Montgomery, Thelma Lloyd, Evelyn Latch, Joy Rhea Slatton and Lyman, Carolyn Palmer and John E.; 13 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service was held on April 9, 2003, in Blue Lake, Calif.
Donations may be made to Hospice of Humboldt, 2010 Myrtle Avenue, Eureka, Calif. 95501.

Thelma Lowe
Thelma Lowe, 77, of Prescott, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott.
Mrs. Lowe was born September 7, 1925, in El Dorado.
She was the daughter of Imom and Bess (Mooty) Pittman. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include: her husband, Wiley Lowe, Jr. of Prescott; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Tommy Burton of Okolona, and Veronica and Joey Walthall of Chidester; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Skylar Low of Coquilloe, Ore., one sister, Mildred Thompson of Ft. Worth, Texas; three aunts, Verna McCain of Ardmore, Okla., Katie Pittman of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Louise Pittman of Texarkana; one cousin, Cindy DuCharme of Prescott; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Lowe were held on Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott. Burial was at Pleasant Home cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.
Visitation was Monday, Monday, April 14, 2003 at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m.

Tempers Jefferson
Bro. Tempers "T.P." Jefferson was born Sept. 14, 1901, in Chidester to the late Sam and Octavia Jefferson.
He was a member of the Rosston Road Church of Christ where he remained until his health failed.
Bro. Jefferson was a construction worker, a logger, and a very hard working man. He was a family man who believed in loving and caring for his family.
He was united in holy matrimony to the late Lillie McCree, and to this union two children were born, Joseph and Versene. Later he was married to the late Georgia Sockwell, and to this union, two children were born who both preceded him in death, Fannie and Lucille.
In 1949, Bro. Jefferson was married to the late Reatha Mae Blair. To this union six children were born, Robert, Joyce Claudia, Lenard, Matt, and Linda. Also preceding him in death was a son-in-law, Carl Penny; four grandchildren, and five sisters.
Bro. Jefferson departed this life on April 1, 2003 at 4 a.m. at the Ouachita Nursing and Rehab Center at Camden.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories nine loving and devoted children: Joseph (Charlene) Jefferson of Chidester, Versene Lindsey of Camden, James Williams of Detroit, Mich., Robert (Arnette) Jefferson of Stephens, Joyce Fricks fo Prescott, Claudia (Earl) Green of Stephens, Lenard (Anita) Jefferson of Camden, Matt (Dale) Thomas of Gurdon, Linda Penny of Camden; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Henry L. Williams and Supt. John E. Wheeler, both of Milwaukee, Wis., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. He also leaves to cherish some memorable times, a special friend and "son", Sam Stafford, of Prescott.

James Vaught
Mr. James Dewan "J.D." Vaught, 66, a resident of Dierks, died Saturday, April 12, 2003, in the Christus St. Michael Healthcare Center in Texarkana.
He was born November 11, 1936, in Bethel, Okla. to Elbert Taft and Emma Beatrice Graves Vaught.
He was a logging contractor for Potlatch Lumber Company, an Army veteran and a Baptist.
Mr. Vaught was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel Vaught and Bobby Jack Vaught.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Jones Vaught of Dierks; three daughters, Carina Tolleson of Kirby, Tammy Hill of Bryant, and Beverly Joe of Hot Springs; one step-son, Jamie Vinyard of Dierks; two sisters, Mary Louise Cook of Kirby, and Glenda Lovelace of St. Crois, Virgin Islands; seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Vaught were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in the Langley Hall with Rev. Kyle Cowart officiating. Burial followed in the Langley Hall cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in Dierks.
Memorials may be made to Log-A-Load fro Kids for Arkansas Children's Hospital, 800 Marshall Street, Little Rock 72202.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 14, 2003, in the funeral home in Dierks.

Geneva Barham
Geneva Barham, 83, of Prescott, died Monday, April 14, 2003.
Ms. Barham is the widow of M.C. Barham and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Stamps.
She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn Crider of Garland, Texas, Mary Nell Loyed of Stamps, and Hazel Langston of Laneburg; one sister, Pearl Racanello of Arlington, Texas, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at 2 p.m. in Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Harold Rowe
Harold "Speedy" Rowe, 86, of Magnolia, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Hillcrest Care Center in Prescott.
He was born December 18, 1916, in Columbia County, to the late Auby Rowe, Sr. and Ruth Linton Rowe.
He was a United State Navy Veteran where he served from 1940-1960. He was a Chief Petty Officer and served in WWII and the Korean War. Speedy was a retired employee of the United States Postal Service and was a retired cattle rancher.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Martha Rowe; one son, Gene Douglas Rowe; one brother, W.C. Rowe and two sisters, Hazel Luck and Myrtle Miller Franks.
He is survived by one son, Gary L. Rowe of Prescott; one grandson, Trent Rowe of Prescott; two granddaughters, Maricia Rowe and Marnie Rowe both of Camden; one great granddaughter, Jazmen Rowe of Camden; two brothers, Auby Rowe, Jr. and Travis Rowe both of Magnolia.
Funeral services were Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home. Bro. David Wood will officiate. Interment was in Memorial Park cemetery under direction of Lewis Funeral Home. Visitation was Friday, April 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Pallbearers will be Orien Dees, Buddy Rowe, Auby Rowe III, Ken Miller, Marion Miller and Keith Walley.

Doyle DeWoody
Doyle Hubert DeWoody, 86, of Sarasota, Fl., formerly of Camden, died Thursday, April 24, 2003.
He was a member of the First Christian Church and a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby DeWoody of Sarasota, Fla.; one daughter, Linda Jean Davis of Spokane, Wash.; one son, Doyle Wayne DeWoody of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren, Robert Morgan DeWoody and Erika Blake DeWoody both of Sarasota, Fla., Amelia Blake Davis of Oregon, and Sarah Ann Davis of Spokane, Wash.; and two great-granddaughters, Morgan DeWoody and Madison DeWoody both of Sarasota, Fla.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2003, at Proctor Funeral Home with burial in Bluff City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Camden.
Proctor Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elsie Lewis
Elsie Daniels Lewis, 85, of Waldo, died early Tuesday morning, May 6, 2003, at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, Texas.
She was born September 8, 1971. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and a loving mother and mamaw.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Richard "Tobey" Rowe of Bodcaw; two sisters-in-law, Helen Daniels of Rosston and Norris Daniels of Bodcaw; four granddaughters, Bettye Annett Cornelius of Prescott, Dawn Atkins of Mt. Home, Leah Caldwell of Fayetteville and Leslie Salzman of Maumelle; six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2003, at the Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps with Rev. Billy Russell officiating with burial in Columbia cemetery at Waldo under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
Visitation was 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
