Richard McKelvy
Richard P. McKelvy, 53, of Conway, formerly of Little Rock, passed away Saturday, August 14, 2004, at his home after a 9 month battle with melanoma.
Mr. McKelvy was born August 24, 1950, in Prescott, to Herman Orland McKelvy and Nell Wanda Walker McKelvy of Bluff City.
Rick enjoyed his family, his work, his man friends, computers and fishing. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Conway. Rick graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, where he received a BSE in Mathematics. He served in the United states Army in the early 1970s and was stationed at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. For the past 30 years, he worked as a systems programmer, most recently with Fidelity Information Services in Little Rock.
Mr. McKelvy is survived by his wife, Jo Anne McKelvy of Conway; one son, Kevin Richard McKelvy of Conway; his parents; brother, Ronald Wayne McKelvy of Bluff City; and sister, Judy Nell Phelps and husband, James of Cabot.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Bible Church, P.O. Box 10480 Conway, Ark. 72034, Baptist Hospice 11900 Colonel Glen Road, Suite 2300, Little Rock, Ark. 72210-2827, or the place of your choice.
Family visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 16, 2004, at the funeral home. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at Fellowship Bible Church in Conway with Ken Wilson officiating. Arrangements were by Griffin Leggett, Conway, Ark. 72034, 501-327-5000.

Augustus Moncrief
Graveside funeral services for Augustus Z. Moncrief, 87, was Tuesday at noon at the DeAnn cemetery in Prescott.
A native of Prescott, Mr. Moncrief lived in Los Angeles where he died on August 21, 2004.
Mr. Moncrief was the son on Earlie Norton Moncrief and Tom Moncrief. He was born September 25, 1916. He married Mildred Wallace in 1937. She preceded him in death in 1965. They had five children. "Moncrief", as he was known by many, later married Faye Frazier Birmingham, who also preceded him death.
Before moving to California, Mr. Moncrief lived in Little Rock and in Texarkana, Texas. Early in life he was a passenger assistant for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He later retired from the Los Angeles Unified School District where he worked in support services.
Mr. Moncrief is survived by his children, all of Los Angeles. They are: daughter, Colette DeVerge and her husband Frank and Barbara and Millicent (Lisa) Moncrief; sons, Augustus, Jr. (his wife Marilyn Jan) and Byron. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Other survivors include his sister, Flossie Furlow of Berkeley, Calif.; and two step-daughters, Cheryl Robertson of Dallas, Texas, and Janice Powell of Marshall, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins also mourn his loss.

Nellie Wise
Mrs. Nellie "Doot" Warren Wise, 75, of Emmet, passed away Monday, August 23, 2004, at her home.
Sister Nellie Wise, affectionately known as "Doot" by some family members and friends, was born November 28, 1928, to the proud parents, the late Jyner Warren and Estella Johnson Warren.
Nellie was the fifth child of a union of nine children. Four brothers preceded her in death. Sister Nellie Wise confessed Christ at an early age, and was a member of the St. Thomas Baptist Church. She served in the missionary society and various church activities. She was a member of the order of Eastern Stars E.U. Reed Chapter 216 of Prescott, a faithful member, until her health failed.
On December 24, 1946, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Judge Wise and to this union five children were born, two daughters preceded her in death. Nellie was a loving wife, mother and homemaker, a very concerned parent, and cared for her children, and helped in decision-making, a good advisor fo her children. Family and friends loved her very much, whenever, you visited her home, you were always welcome to eating good wholesome home cooked meals. Well known for her seasoned vegetables and delicious cakes and pies. She will truly be missed by those who knew her and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband of 58 years, Judge Wise of Emmet; two sons, Homer L. Wise (Beatrice) of Richmond, Calif. and Ruben W. Wise (Clara) of Euless, Texas; one daughter, Stella M. Scoggins (Charlie) of Hope; one step-son, Willie L. Wise (Shree) of Los Angeles, Calif.; one favorite godson, Earnest Monk (Arlene) of Blevins; two sisters, Ruby McDaniel of Kansas City, Mo. and Freddie Pearl Hubbard (Fredrick) of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Homer Warren of Kansas City, Mo. and Jessie Warren of Blevins; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, August 29, 2004, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. D.R. Gulley officiating. Burial was in Elizabeth cemetery in Hempstead County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Saturday, August 28, 2004, from 6-7 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish for quiet hour.

Cecil Steed
Mr. Cecil James "Pete" Steed, 71, Prescott, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at Hillcrest Care and Rehab Center in Prescott.
He was born June 30, 1933, in Emmet, to Rufus James and Hazel Wingfield Steed.
He was a member of Missionary Grove Baptist Church of Nubbin Hill Community in Prescott.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
His survivors include: his wife of 48 ½ years, Lorene Hunt Steed of Prescott; one son, Randy James Steed of Prescott; two daughters, Brenda Oliver of Brandon, Fla. and Kay Purtle of Prescott; two brothers, Delbert Steed of Prescott and Billy Don Steed of Okla.; one sister, Bobbie Dennis of Camden; seven grandchildren, Christie Bickerstaff, Shane Hill, Jason Oliver, Valerie Purtle, Candice Oliver, Chelsey Oliver and Cody Steed; three great-grandchildren, Austin Bickerstaff, Holliegh Bickerstaff, and Layla Purtle.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2004, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel, Prescott, with Rev. Neal Ridling and Mr. Mike Steed officiating. Burial followed in Caney cemetery in Caney Community of Nevada County. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Sunday, August 29, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish.

Lill Caldwell
Lill Cox Caldwell, 78, died August 22, 2004, in Galveston, Texas, after complications from heart disease.
She was born November 13, 1925, in Nevada County, to Lee and Mollie Baker Cox, the youngest of eight children, who were all born in the same house.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Bill S. Caldwell, III, by her parents, and by the following siblings: brothers Dr. Felix, Frisby, George H., J. Lee, and Walter Rae Cox, and sister Bessie Pearl Buchanan.
She is survived by his wife Joyce of Luft, Texas; two sons, Rev. Michael Caldwell of Luft, Texas and Philip Caldwell of Galveston, Texas; one grandson, Austin Caldwell of Galveston, Texas, who provided loving care in her final months; grandsons Ben and Jesse Caldwell and their mother Sarah Caldwell, all of Warner Robbins, Georgia, granddaughter Athena Caldwell of Luft, Texas, and sister Corinne Cox Stevenson of Jonesboro.
Lill graduated from Prescott High School, Henderson State University, Arkadelphia, and pursued post-graduate studies in the University of Texas system. She taught several years in Arkansas public schools before moving with her family to Texas. She retired as a science teacher from Ball Jr. High in Galveston. Mrs. Caldwell, a longtime member of Moody Methodist Church in Galveston, was active in Sunday School and church. She performed volunteer work for Meals on Wheels.
A memorial service was held at the Moody House in Galveston on Wednesday, August 25, at 10 a.m. On Saturday, September 4, at 11:30 a.m., a graveside service will be held in DeAnn cemetery in Prescott, and her cremated remains will be interred alongside her parents. The graveside services will be conducted by her son, Rev. Michael Caldwell.

Floy Waters
Mrs. Floy Catherine Caldwell Waters, 85, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Rosston, died Thursday, September 16, 2004, in the Methodist Hospital in Dallas.
She was born June 22, 1919, in Rosston, to Charles Preston and Lena Wortham Caldwell. She was a retired accountant. She was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herman Waters, who died in November 2002.
Her survivors include: two nephews, Charles Thomas Caldwell of Granbury, Texasn and James F. Palmer of Dallas.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Rosston. Burial followed in Holly Springs cemetery in Rosston, with Rev. Jim Palmer officiating. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Saturday, September 18, 2004, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish.

Addys Brown
Addys Brown, 91, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, September 19, 2004, in a local hospital.
Born November 27, 1912, in Stamps, to Thomas and June Hoes Brown, she spent most of her adult life in Prescott. She was of the Presbyterian faith, a lifelong member of the Arkansas Thoroughbred Breeders and the Horsemen's Association.
She was predeceased b her parents, two sisters, Helen Brown Williams and Hazel Brown Ricks and one nephew, Earl T. Ricks, Jr.
Survivors include six nieces, Nancy June Bryant, Shannon Cammack, Gaye Spruell, Brownie W. Ledbetter, Quendrid W. Veatch, and June H. Williams; one nephew, E.G. (Bish) Williams, II; several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews and one cousin, W.P. Florence. She will be missed.
Graveside services were 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at Lakeside cemetery in Stamps with Rev. Dr. Dana Casey officiating.
Memorials may be made to Ouachita Children's Center, 339 Charter Oak Hot Springs, Ark. 71901.
Arrangements were by Gross Funeral Home in Hot Springs.

Lynn Williams Jr.
Mr. Lynn "Sawman" Williams, Jr. 81, of Prescott, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004, in Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
He was born March 11, 1923, in Clark Co. to Lynn Sr. and Cindy Coker Williams.
He was the owner/operator of the former McCullough Chainsaw Shop in Prescott. He was a member of Church of Christ in Prescott. He was an Army Veteran of World War II having served in Italy and Germany and receiving a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by one son, Joe Williams; and by five brothers and two sisters.
His survivors include: wife of 58 years, Freda Trout Williams of Prescott; one daughter, Dora Fuqua of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Joey Williams, Kevin Williams, Shelley Williams, Altie Jordan and Dayna Fuqua; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at Prescott Church of Christ in Prescott with Mr. Howard Horton and Mr. Lynn Vanderveer officiating. Burial followed in Jones cemetery in Amity. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
Family received friends Wednesday, September 22, 2004, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish.

Harold Hendrix
Mr. Harold Jackson Hendrix, 86, of Hope, died Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at his home.
He was born May 19, 1918, in Pike County to Owen B. and Katherine Wingfield Hendrix.
He was a self-employed timber-buyer and automobile dealer, having been owner/operator of the former Hendrix Motor Company of Hope. He was a member and Elder of the Hope Church of Christ. Of all of life's accomplishments, he was privileged to serve as Elder of the Church of Christ in both Hope and Prescott for a combination of more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, former Senator Olin Hendrix.
His survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Inez Rogers Hendrix of Hope; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Collier and John and Jeanne Phillips and Ronnie all of Hope; one brother, Buford Hendrix of Antoine; two sisters, Viola Maddox and Bernell of Antoine and Flossie Childers of Prescott; two sisters-in-law, Christine Rogers Griffith of Antoine and Ula Burdue Rogers of Texarkana, Texas; three grandchildren, Rebecca Andrews and Kelly of Prescott, Jennifer Ford and Darrell of Hope and Mandy Bright and Charley of Hope; eight great-grandchildren, Hendrix, Addison, Carey, Alley, Rade, Kylan, Grace and Aubrie.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004, at Hope Church of Christ in Hope with Mr. Harley Sisson and Mr. Larry Culbreath officiating. Burial followed in Antoine cemetery in Antoine. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope.
Family received friends Wednesday, September 22, 2004, from 6-9 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest.
