T'Ahnna Purifoy
T'Ahnna Purifoy, four-week old infant, died Wednesday, May 8, 1996, in the Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
Born April 11, 1996, in Arkadelephia, she was the infant daughter of LaWanda Purifoy of Prescott and Jeffery Blake of Gurdon, who survive her.
Other survivors are a brother, T'Atrique Purifoy of Prescott; and her grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Carl Purifoy of Prescott, Ellis Blake of Chidester and Suzanne Todd of Arkadelphia.
Graveside services and burial were held Saturday, May 11, at DeAnn cemetery in Prescott under the direction of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Pearlie Banks
Pearlie Banks, 82, of Prescott died December 28, 1995.
Born July 13, 1917. in Bigelow, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Jospeh and Mrs. Luller Oliver Roseburrow. She was a graduate of Conway County Training Senior High, a former member of New Zion A.M.E. Church in Conway during her youth, and was a graduate of Philander Smith College. She pursued her teaching career in the Prescott area. She returned to school and earned a master of education degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and subsequently, doing postgraduate work at St. Augustine College in Raleigh, N.C., Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia and the University of Arkansas. She was the widow of J.B. Banks
She was active in civic endeavors after retirement. She was an active member of Ward Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church for 36 years where she served as director of religious education, director of the youth department, steward, stewardess, choir member, benevolent treasurer and program director. She was a member of the Hope Cotillion Club.
Survivors include a sister, Elvira Vaughn of Morrilton and a brother, Samuel Roseburrow of Los Angeles, Calif.
Services were held Saturday, January 6, at Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Prescott with Rev. Arthur L. Coulter officiating. Burial was in Sweet Home cemetery near Prescott under the direction of Hicks Funeral Home of Hope.

Odell Toliver
Odell Toliver, 74, of Seattle, Wash., formerly of Blevins and Prescott, died Saturday, December 30, 1995.
Born January 18, 1921, in Blevins, he was the son of the late Earnest and Elnora Toliver and a member of Ward Chapel AME Church in Prescott. He graduated from McRae High School, was retired from the U.S. Army and the University of Washington custodial department. He was a member of Curry C.M.E. Church in Seattle.
Survivors include four children, Bobbi Sims of Seattle, Wash., Odell Toliver Jr. of Fairfield, Calif., Twyla Toliver of Hayward, Calif., and Myrtice Ahmed of Seattle; one stepdaughter, Lula Simmons of Seattle; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services were held Thursday, January 4, at Curry Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Seattle with Rev. James Smith officiating. Burial was in Abbey View cemetery in Seattle under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home of Seattle.

Robert Lee
Robert Edward Lee, 84, of Prescott, died Monday, January 8, 1996, in Prescott.
Born September 4, 1911, in Foreman, he was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Sumners Lee of Prescott; and a brother, William H. Lee of Little Rock.
Services were held Wednesday, January 10, at Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Prescott with Gene Cloer officiating. Burial was in Beards Chapel cemetery in Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.

Marie Weaver
Marie Annette Weaver, 56, of Texarkana, Texas, formerly of Prescott, died Sunday, January 7, 1996, in Texarkana.
Born March 20, 1937, in Prescott, she was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sissi Wilson, in 1994.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Weaver of Texarkana, Texas; a son, Russ Ghormley of Prescott; a daughter, Donna Marlar of Prescott; two stepdaughters, Vicki McCorkle and Sandra Weaver both of Texarkana; and two grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Janaury 10, at Midway Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was in Midway cemetery near Prescott under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Elizabeth Beaty
Elizabeth Mae Beaty, 94, of Hope, died Wednesday, February 14, 1996.
Born October 5, 1901, in Hope, she was a member of United Methodist Church of Emmet. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Beaty Jr., a son, Joe Douglas Beaty and a daughter, Margie Reyenga.
Survivors include a son, Dr. W.R. Beaty of Texarkana, Texas; a daughter, Mary Ella Martin of Laneburg; two brothers, Jack Mouser of Houston, Texas, and Charles Mouser of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Payton of Marble Falls, Texas, and Helen Ruth Hentika of Austin, Texas; and 16 grandchildren.
Services were held Friday, February 16, at Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Prescott with Rev. Joy Calicott officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery in Emmet under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home.

Vernice Hubbard
Vernice Bruce Hubbard, 88, of Hot Springs, formerly of Blevins, died Monday, February 12, 1996, in a Hot Springs hospital.
She was a native of Blevins, but she had been a resident of Hot Springs for the past 20 years where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Henderson State Teachers College, where she received a BSE degree with a major in elementary education and a masters degree. She did graduate study at the University of Arkansas and George Peabody in Nashville, Tenn. She had served as principal of the Prescott Elementary and Junior High Schools. She was a member of Arkansas Education Association, National Education Association, International Reading Association, the state and national Department of Elementary Prinicpals, Natioanl Council of Teachers of English and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of the state and national Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and served as secretary of the Arkansas ASCD. She was retired from the State Department of Education as reading specialist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Hubbard.
Survivors include two sisters, Lola Bruce Harris and Thelma Bruce, both of Hot Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
Service were held Friday, February 16, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial was in DeAnn cemetery in Prescott under the direction of Hot Springs Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bruce First United Methodist Church in Blevins.

WILLIAM PATRICK JR.
William `Mike' Patrick Jr., 47, of Hope died Saturday, June 22, 1996, in Texarkana, Ark.
Born October 28, 1948, in El Dorado, he was co-owner of Klem's Cab Co., in Hope and a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Prescott.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Patrick of Hope; one son, Jason Patrick of Prescott; one daughter, Dani Patrick Tamberelli of Prescott; one brother, Scott Bryson of Dallas; and one grandson.
Services were held Tuesday, June 25, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott with Revs. Bruce Howard and Jonathon Russell officiating. Burial was in Liberty cemetery by Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home.

Eunice Butler
Rev. Eunice Butler, 92, of Arkadelphia died Friday, February 2, 1996, in Riverwood Convalescent Nursing Facility in Arkadlephia.
Born March 20, 1903, in Dallas County, he was the son of the late Mattie and William Butler. He was the widower of Mollie Lee Butler. He pastored many area churches, including Beulah Princeton, Holly Grove, Good Hope, Saint John, Harrison Chapel and Shady Grove Baptist Churches. He served as president of Section Number Two of the Greater Bradley District until his health failed.
Survivors include his adopted son, John Lee Butler Jr. of Arkadelphia; and four grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday, February 10, at Harmony Bible Missionary Baptist Church in Sparkman with Rev. Wallace Ingram officiating. Burial was in the Butler Family cemetery in Sparkman under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Opal Burns Nash
Opal Burns Nash, 83, of Chidester died Sunday, May 26, 1996, in Tomball, Texas.
She was a member of Bluff City Church of Christ and she was a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Franklin of Magnolia, Texas; a brother, Armond A. Burns Jr. of Camden; two sisters, Mae Shepherd of Camden and Drucilla Fay of Fort Smith; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Wednesday, May 29, at Proctor Chapel in Camden with burial in Rose Hedge cemetery in Gurdon.

Frederick Tidwell
Frederick Keith Tidwell, 32, of Rosston died Sunday, May 19, 1996.
Born April 22, 1964, in Magnolia, he was the son of Olandus Tidwell and Edna Elliott. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cold Springs Masonic Lodge 285 and United Rubber Workers Union Local 920. He graduated from Willisville High School in 1982.
Survivors include his mother, Edna Elliott; his father, Olandus Tidwell; seven sisters, Carolyn Wilson of Lewisville, Texas, Joyce Elliott of Little Rock, Barbara Turner of Virginia Beach, Va., Bettie Baldwin of Rowlett, Texas, Gloria Elliott of Willisville, and Lashekia Tidwell and Yolanda Tidwell of Rosston; and a brother, Charles Tidwell of Camden.
Services were held Saturday, May 25, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Rosston with Rev. Bobby Young officiating. Burial was in Watts cemetery in Waldo under the direction of Marks Funeral Home of Magnolia.

Artie Lewis
Artie Belle Lewis, 86, of Prescott died Sunday, February 18, 1996, at Hillcrest Care Center in Prescott.
Born August 24, 1909, in Nevada County, she was a homemaker and attended the Assembly of God Church in Prescott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lewis.
Survivors include a son, Doug A. Lewis of Hope; a daughter, Leada Mae Spencer of Prescott; a brother, Ottis Elmore of Little Rock; two sisters, Alta O'Rourke of Prescott and Carlee Cranford of Malvern; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, February 20, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott with Rev. Charlie Murphy officiating. Burial was in Friendship cemetery in Cale under the directon of Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home.

DEE MATTISON
Debra Dee Mattison, 12, of Prescott died Thursday, June 20, 1996, Texarkana, Texas.
Born August 12, 1983, in Hope, she was the daughter of Ricky Mattison and Karen Cox and a Baptist.
Survivors include her father Ricky Mattison of Prescott; her mother, Karen Cox of Prescott her stepmother, Kathy Mattison of Prescott; two brothers, David Haney and Ricky Mattison Jr., both of Prescott; and two sisters, Cheryl Mattison and Jennifer Haney, both of Prescott.
Graveside services were held Saturday, June 22, at Nubbin Hill cemetery with Revs. Tom Stevens and Eric Barbaree officiating. Burial was under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.
