Mabel Quillin Davis
Mabel Quillin Davis, 78, of Hope died Wednesday, December 2, 1998, at Heather Manor North Nursing Home in Hope.
Mrs. Davis was born May 9, 1920, in Hempstead County to Leroy and Lugene Archer Quillin. She was a housewife and mother and a member of Unity Baptist Church in Hope.
Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Dorman of Hope and Brenda Fontenot of Winnie, Texas; one brother, Roy Quillin of Hope; one sister, Nellie Godwin of Hope; and eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, December 4, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. I.V. High officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens cemetery in Hope under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Mattie Jean Atkins
Mattie Jean Atkins, 77, of Prescott died Friday, December 4, 1998, at Texarkana, Texas.
Mrs. Atkins was born April 19, 1921, in Willisville to Jessie Parrish Atkins and Mossollia Best Atkins. She was secretary for the Farmers Home Administration, a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and National Federation of Federal Employees.
Survivors include one brother, Dean Atkins of De Queen; three nephews, Mike Atkins, Chuck Atkins and J.P. Atkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, December 7, at Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Bro. Wayne Langston and Bro. D.D. Fairchild officiating. Burial as in Mt. Olive cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Pearl Dawson
Pearl Dawson, 81, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, December 2, 1998, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Dawson was born May 14, 1917, in Charleston, Miss., to the late Thomas Moody Dawson and Fannie F. Turner Dawson. She was reared and educated in Pine Bluff, where she attended Pine Bluff High School. She was a homemaker and attended First Assembly of God Church in Pine Bluff. She devoted her life to her family.
Survivors include one brother, Harry Dawson of DeLand, Fla., and one sister, Dolly Steed of Prescott.
Graveside services were Saturday, December 5, at Graceland cemetery in Pine Bluff with Rev. Phillip Hull officiating. Burial was be Ralph Robinson and Son of Pine Bluff.

Austin Anthony Hill
Austin Anthony Hill, infant son of Chris and Sherry Hill of Delight passed from this life on Friday, December 4, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.
Survivors include his parents; one sister, Kristi Hill of Delight; grandparents, Grace and Dennis Jones of Delight and Ben Colson of Georgia; and Pat and James Hill of Delight.
Funeral services are Wednesday, (today) December 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Crossroads Assembly of God Church near Delight with Bro. Glen Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Delight cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Thomas DeWoody
Thomas 'Tom' DeWoody, 72, of Gurdon died Thursday, December 3, 1998.
Mr. DeWoody was a retired employee of Arkla Gas Pipeline Division, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of DAV and American Legion, a past member of Gurdon Masonic Lodge and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Jo Hale DeWoody; two daughters, Sharon Patterson and her husband David of El Dorado, and Brenda Horne and her husband Tony of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Gretchen, Sandi, Adam and Tara; and two great grandchildren, Lauren and Austin.
Services were held Saturday, December 5, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Gurdon. Interment was in Bluff City cemetery in Nevada County. Arrangements were under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
Memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church of Gurdon or to a favorite charity.

Bill Gordon
Bill Gordon, 75, of Prescott died December 29, 1998, in St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana.
Mr. Gordon was born October 28, 1923 to Fred Lester and Nannie Belle Roe Gordon. He was co-owner of Prescott Insurance Agency. Mr. Gordon was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Prescott Kiwanis Club, where he had 43 years perfect attendance. He was a former school board member, where he served as president and secretary for 15 years.
Survivors include his loving wife, Anne Hasley Gordon, three sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Douglas Gordon of Arlington, Texas, William David and Kim Gordon of Prescott and James Daniel and Debbie Gordon of Nashville; one sister, Betty Gordon Woosley of Brewton, Ala.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 31, at First United Methodist Church with Bro. Jim Lenderman officiating. Burial was in DeAnn cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Dale Woodson, Jr.
Dale Woodson Jr., 71, of Prescott died Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at his home.
Mr. Woodson was born June 3, 1927, in Deanieville to Dale and Sallie Burns Woodson. He was a retired freelance consultant. Following a long and distinguished career spanning more than 33 years at E.I. Dupont, he remained active in business affairs until his untimely death. He was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church of Prescott, a Mason, a 32nd degree Mason, a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, having served as 1st Lt. and earning the Bronze Star for Valor. He was preceded in death by his parents. He had a big heart and tried to do all he could for his loved ones and others. For this he will be remembered.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Kay Woodson of Prescott; one son, Dale Woodson III of North Little Rock; three daughters, Claudine Woodson of North Little Rock, Judy McNeill of Hudson, Ohio, and Sarah Young of Pleasanton, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Katie, Eric, Adam, Brooke, Ashley and Christen.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 31, at Sweet Home Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie W. McAdams officiating. Burial was in Sweet Home cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Mary T. Chambless
Mary T. Chambless, 90, of Hope died at her home Tuesday, December 29, 1998.
Mrs. Chambless was born June 21, 1908, in Newton, Ill., to Elmer G. and Naomi Gillson Trexler. She was a retired employee of Pinehope Nursing Home and a member of Christian Church of Prescott. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tibb L. Chambless, and a daughter, Janice Chambless.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Chambless of Hope; one daughter, Betty Rain of Hope; five grandchildren, Paulette Tipton of Maumelle, Annette Wright of Cabot, Lisa Cox and Scott Chambless of Hope and Rosalyn Heaps of Riverside, Calif.; eleven great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 31, at Herndon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Neathery officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home of Hope.

Beulah Simpson
Beulah Hamilton Simpson, 89, of Willisville died Tuesday, December 29, 1998, at the Magnolia City Hospital.
Mrs. Simpson was born November 18, 1908, in Emmet. Mrs. Simpson was a retired school cafeteria worker and a member of the Willisville Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Patsy Pyka of Dallas, Texas and Sherry and George Montgomery of Willisville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Glen D. and Joyce Simpson of Carlsbad, N.M., Venoy and Pat Simpson of Magnolia and Dean and Shelby Simpson of Tyler, Texas; one brother, S.M. Hamilton of Brownfield, Texas; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral services were Thursday, December 31, at Willisville Methodist Church with the Rev. Hankins officiating. Burial was in Willisville cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Stamps.

Wayne Gibson
Wayne Gibson, 96, of Bodcaw died Wednesday, December 30, 1998, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.
Mr. Gibson was born on December 15, 1902, in Flint, Texas, to Emmett R. and Mary E. Mayfield Gibson. He was a cowboy, blacksmith and rancher in New Mexico and Florida. He moved to Arkansas in 1970 where he continued ranching. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Seabees during World War II.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne Keith and Betty Gibson of Bodcaw; one twin sister, Winnie DeWitt of Prescott; one grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Wayne C. and Jana Gibson of Willisville; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Wendy and Robert Bailey of Bodcaw; and three great granddaughters, Keri and Misty Gibson of Willisville and Jennifer Bailey of Bodcaw.
Funeral services were Saturday, January 2, 1999, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Jerry Evans officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery in Bodcaw under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Jack Ray Bidwell
Jack Ray Bidwell, 54, of Prescott died Saturday, January 2, 1999, in Hope.
Mr. Bidwell was born April 15, 1944, in Dallas, Texas, to Wallace and Frances Spurny Bidwell. He was a self-employed picture framer.
Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Wynell and Howard McDaniel of Monroe, La., and Deanie and Bill Luck of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; his mother, Frances Bidwell of Prescott; four nephews, one niece; six great nephews; and two great nieces.
Funeral services were Monday, January 4, at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Ricky Burke officiating. Burial was in Liberty cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Jason Scott Greene
Jason Scott Greene, 27, of Prescott died Friday, January 1, 1999, in Prescott.
Mr. Greene was born March 16, 1971, in Prescott. He was a sales representative for Merchant Services, Inc., and a member of the Prescott Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Curtis Greene of Montgomery, Ala.; two brothers, Gary Dale Cearley of Hanoi, Vietnam, and Craig Ray Greene of Alexander City, Ala.; one sister, Diana Cearley Crews of Wetumka, Ala.; his parents, Harvey and Bobbie Blevins and Raymond Greene of Prescott; a step-brother, Mark Blevins of Conway; a step-sister, Vicki Marbury of Prescott; his grandparents, Billy Bob and Elva Smith of Prescott and George and Faye Griffith of Ecletic, Ala.; and three nephews, J.D. and Justin Purtle and Harvey Cearley.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 5, at Prescott Church of Christ with Gene Cloer officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill cemetery under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Juanita Gentry Goff
Juanita Gentry Goff, 76, of Texarkana, Ark., died Sunday, January 3, 1999, in a Texarkana nursing home.
Mrs. Goff was born on May 21, 1922, in Nashville. She was a retired legal secretary from the office of U.S. Court of Appeals, Judge Richard S. Arnold. She was a member of Central Christian Church; past member of Business and Professional Women; Women's Golf Association of Northridge Country Club; and the Texarkana Legal Secretaries Association. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julia Ann Goff Nash in January 1995.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald H. Goff of Texarkana; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Pam Goff of Texarkana, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and David McClintock of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Bruce Gentry of McKinney, Texas; one sister, Leota Harwood of Texarkana, Ark.; and eight grandchildren, Jakeb Goff, Nathan Goff, Laci Goff, Laura Richardson, Gus Richardson, Justin McClintock, Lissa Nash and Will Nash.
Funeral services were Tuesday, January 5, at Texarkana Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Irons officiating. Burial was in East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
