Christopher Brian Gulley
Christopher Brian Gulley, 17, of Prescott died Friday, May 19, 2000, at his home.
He was born November 25, 1982, in Camden. He was a Prescott High School student and a Baptist.
Survivors include his father, Terry Snowden of Blevins; his mother and stepfather, Shirley and Daryl Tidwell of Prescott; his grandfather, Dennis Sims Sr. of Prescott; his grandmothers, Dorothy Brown of Nashville and Ruthie Sims of Prescott; three sisters, Silveya Gulley of Little Rock and Sophia Dunn and Daniell Dunn of Prescott; two stepbrothers, Daryl Tidwell Jr. of Prescott and Jamall Tidwell of Antoine; and two stepsisters, Jalisa Tidwell and Chelsea Tidwell, both of Prescott.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 27, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at Prescott with Rev. Delta Ray Gulley officiating. Burial was in Union Grove cemetery at Bluff City under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Helen Crank Stuart
Helen Crank Stuart, 79, of Longview, Texas, died Sunday afternoon, May 28, 2000, in Longview.
Mrs. Stuart was born March 6, 1921, in Rosston. She had been a resident of Longview for over 50 years. She was the office manager of Maritzky's Clothiers for 50 years. Mrs. Stuart was a member of First Methodist Church of Longview and the Thelma Morgan Sunday school class. She was a charter member of the Pilot Club of Longview, having 40 years perfect attendance. She also was a former member of American Business Women's Association and she served as secretary for the Red Cross in the 1970's.
Mr. Stuart is survived by her nephews, John Clyde Crank and his wife Grace Anne of Dallas, Texas, Terry Sutton Crank and his wife Cathy of Longview and Robert Stuart Crank of Longview; great nephews, John Clyde Crank II and Charles Samuel Crank; great nieces, Medley Jane Crank and Claudia Sutton Crank; and Mrs. John S. Crank of Longview.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 30, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Revs. Bill Cunningham and Bill Bridwell officiating. Interment was in Rosewood Park cemetery in Longview. Memorial may be made to First Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.

Jewett Spell
Jewett Spell, 80, of Blevins, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Spell was born October 15, 1919, in Evadale, Texas to Thomas Sterling and Leona Cochran Spell. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Blevins, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of the 8th Air Corps during Word War II and he was a member of Evadale Masonic Lodge 1366 in Buna, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy D. Spell of Blevins; one son, Randy Spell of Buna; two daughters, Carol Stroud of Hope and Judy White of Blevins; one brother, Ishmael Spell of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren, Lisa Nix, B.J. Spell, Jennifer White, Justin White, and Christopher Stroud; and two great grandchildren, Jewett Paul Nix and Sunee Nix.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 27, at Farmer Funeral Home Chapel in Silsbee, Texas with Rev. Delbert Milstead officiating. Masonic graveside rites followed in Morse cemetery by the Evadale Masonic Lodge. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Harvey D. Montgomery
Harvey D. Montgomery, 83, of Prescott died Monday, July 26, 2000, at Christus St. Michael Health System in Texarkana, Texas.
Mr. Montgomery was born July 4, 1917, in the Sweet Home community near Blevins to Maunt and Esther Britt Montgomery. He was retired from Collier Furniture Co. in Hope. He was a member of Sweet Home Methodist Church, Sweet Home Committee and Ebenezer cemetery Committee. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Laurice Mouser Montgomery of Prescott; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Donna Montgomery of Prescott and Danny and Brenda Montgomery of Frisco, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jimmy Cowart of Prescott and Cathy and Drew Delametter of Murfreesboro; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 29, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Harley Sisson officiating. Burial was in Sweet Home cemetery in Hempstead County under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.

Harold Dwight Cromer
Harold Dwight Cromer Sr., formerly of Blevins, died July 23, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Mr. Cromer was born August 25, 1933, near Blevins, the son of Stewart Jackson ‘Jack' and Macil Irene (Sutton) Cromer. He was a chicken and cattle farmer in the Blevins area until he retired and moved to Pahrump, Nev.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie (Goodwin) Cromer of Pahrump, Nev.; one daughter, Debbie Lynn St. Pieree and her two daughters, Cherie Lynn and Krissy Ann St. Pierrem all of Gramercy, La.; two sons, Harold Dwight Cromer Jr. of Knoxville, Iowa, and Michael Anthony Cromer and his wife Barabara and their three daughters, Jessica Lynn, Erin Michelle and Nicole Marie, all of Gramercy, La.; his step-mother, Marie Cromer of Blevins; one brother, Carroll Wayne Cromer of Palm Springs, Calif.; and one sister, Billie Jean Burke of Carterville, Ill.
Burial was in Pharump, Nevada.

Linda Wilson
Linda Wilson, 71, formerly of Blevins, died Saturday, July 30, 2000, in Russellville.
Mrs. Wilson was born November 25, 1928, to Jack and Ruby Bonds. She was a legal secretary and a member of Grace Baptist Church in Russellville, where she was a member of the ladies' Bible class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Wilson, in 1990.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kristi Wilson of Russellville; one daughter, Teri Quillin of Arkadelphia; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, July 31, at Marlbrook Baptist Church with Roger Pearce officiating. Interment was in Marlbrook cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

Mary B. Wilkins
Mary B. Wilkins, 69, was called to her eternal home Sunday, July 30, 2000, at her residence in Prescott.
Mrs. Wilkins was born April 28, 1931, in Blevins to Jack and Ruby Bonds. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Prescott. Mrs. Wilkins was preceded in death by her husband, George Wilkins Sr., and her son, George Wilkins Jr., and a sister, Linda Wilson, on Saturday, July 29, 2000.
Survivors include her son, William Allen Wilkins of Prescott; a special friend, Pat Loe; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, August 1, at Marlbrook cemetery with Bros. Chad Brandon and Ricky Burke officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Shackelford Funeral Home of Prescott.

James Franklin Henson III
James Franklin Henson III, 28, of Rosston died Thursday, July 27, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Henson was born May 29, 1972, in Hope to James Franklin Henson II and Lisa Ann Williams Goad. He was employed with Champion Parts Rebuilders Inc. and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Blevins.
Survivors include his father and step-mother, James and Diann Henson of Blevins; his mother and step-father, Lisa and Jerry Goad; three brothers, Quinn Hastings and Shon Hastings both of Blevins and Joe Goad of Hope; one sister, Melissa Hicks of Blevins; one niece, Magean Henderson of Blevins; and one nephew, Treaton Hastings of Blevins.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 30, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Donnie Dillard officiating. Burial was in Holly Grove cemetery in DeAnn under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Alice M. Lawrence
Alice M. Lawrence, 88, went to be with her Lord on Friday, July 28, 2000, in Shreveport, La.
Mrs. Lawrence was born January 11, 1912, in Prescott. She was a member of First Assembly of God in Prescott, where she served as president of W.M.C. and she was an adult ladies' Sunday school teacher. She was a true Christian lady and was loved by all who were privileged to know her. She was preceded in death by two loving husbands, Andy Clay Lucas and T.C. Lawrence, and two beautiful daughters, Jamie Lucas Harris and Wanda Lucas Long. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Louis Jefferson and Flora Ann Hooks Jone;, and five brothers, Charles Jones, L.J. Jones, Wesley Mitchell, Cloyce Jones and Freeman Jones.
Survivors include one step-son, Charles Lawrence of Prescott; two step-daughters, Beth Anderson of Prescott and Brenda Brinkley of Leesville, La.; one sister, Alma Renfro of Homer, La.; two brothers, Glendale Jones and James Jones of Baytown, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 30, at First Assembly of God in Prescott. Burial was in Piney Grove cemetery with Rev. Andy C. Harris officiating, assisted by Rev. Dewel Smith. Pallbearers were Gary Jones, Hershel Jones, Ron Edwards, Arvin Jones, Alvin Jones, Roy Wayne Jones, John Jones and Freeman Jones Jr. Arrangements were under the direction of Hillcrest Funeral Home of Shreveport, La.

Auby McEachern
Auby McEachern, 70, of Norphlet died Friday, July 28, 2000, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
Mr. McEachern was born August 23, 1929, in Shongaloo, La., to Nobie (Greer) McEachern and Melvin McEachern. He was a retired principal for Norphlet School District. He received his BSE from Southern State University and his master's degree from the University of Texas-Commerce in Commerce, Texas; He also taught and coached basketball for two years in Village and taught and coached basketball and baseball for five years at Laneburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea and retired from the Army National Guard with 23 years service. He was also a member of Norphlet United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Linton McEachern of Norphlet; two daughters, Kathy Long and Becky Hannagan both of Norphlet; three brothers, Carlton McEachern of McNeil, Darnell Mceachern of Taylor and Horace McEachern of the Western community; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, July 30, at Norphlet United Methodist Church with Revs. Glen Harris and James Ford officiating. Burial was in Atlanta Methodist cemetery in Atlanta under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital Memorial Program, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-0704.

Marion Phillips Bailey
Marion Phillips Bailey, 92, of Rosston died Tuesday, August 8, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehab in Prescott.
Mr. Bailey was born September 12, 1907, in Rosston to A.O. ‘Buck' and Lillie Atkins Phillips. She was a retired seamstress and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Logan Bailey, and by her son, Edward E. Bailey.
Survivors include one grandson, Lawrence E. ‘Larry' Bailey of Shreveport, La., one granddaughter, Rebecca ‘Becky' Smith of Shreveport, La., one daughter-in-law, Sue Bailey of Shreveport, La., and five great grandchildren, Ryan Bailey, Brittany Bailey, Anna Clair Bailey, Destiny Goodman and Kevin Mark Smith all of Shreveport, La.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 9, at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Chad Brandon officiating. Burial was in Rosston cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Herbert R. 'Buck' Reed
Herbert R. ‘Buck' Reed, 83, of Emmet died Monday, August 14, 2000, at his home.
Mr. Reed was born July 4, 1917, in Emmet to Otis and Estell Boyd Reed. He was a retired foreman of Southwest Wood Products of Hope. He was a Methodist and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his campaign in central Europe.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Honeycutt Reed of Emmet; one son, Larry Reed of Emmet; one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Steven Halliwill of Emmet; one sister, Maudie Otwell of Emmet; five grandchildren, Traci Ann Brewster of Emmet, Michael Reed of Redding, Calif., and Robin Reed, Randy Reed and Shane Antley all of Emmet; and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 17, at First United Methodist Church in Emmet with Rev. Buddy McKamie officiating. Burial was in Snell cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home of Hope.

Ben F. Grimes
Ben F. Grimes, 86, of Magnolia died Tuesday, August 29, 2000, in the Arkansas Select Specialty Hospital in Little Rock.
Mr. Grimes was born May 3, 1914, in Prescott to James T. and Ruth (Holman) Grimes. He was a retired employee of Reliance Well Service and a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fay Barnes Grimes of Magnolia; three daughters, Barbara Lewis of Maumell; Melba Johnson and her husband Tommy of El Dorado and Jan Sims of North Little Rock; a sister, Clarice Woodson of Pinole, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 31, at First United Methodist Church in Magnolia with Rev. Bob Burnham officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. Pallbearers were Bill Lewis, Alan Johnson, Brian Johnson, Coby Cook, Terry Cook and Tommy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers were Columbia County United Methodist Church Men and employees of Reliance Well Service. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
