Gladys Kirkham
(July 12, 1917 - November 5, 2011)

Gladys Smith Kirkham, age 94, of Arkadelphia, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Arkadelphia. She was born July 12, 1917 in the Richwoods Community near Arkadelphia, the daughter of the late Jim and Ruth Ann Hicks Smith.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-nine years, Johnnie Kirkham in 1980. They farmed together in west Texas and after moving back to Arkadelphia, she was a longtime salesperson with Tom Chandler Shoe Store in Arkadelphia. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Survivors include two nieces and one nephew.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 8th at Shiloh cemetery near Arkadelphia with Bro. Stan Esclante officiating. Visitation will be 1:00-2:30 PM Tuesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church or to Shiloh cemetery Fund.

James D. Smith
(January 18, 1928 - July 15, 2011)

James D. "Pete" Smith, age 83, of Arkadelphia, died Friday, July 15, 2011. He was born January 18, 1928, the son of the late Vance Sr. and Ruth Joslin Smith. Pete was a retired electrician, a member of Third Street Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason. The passion of his life was his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Lee Hickman, Darnell Collins, Barbara Marion; two brothers, Carl Smith and R. V. Smith.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-seven years, Mary Ellen Cook Smith; one daughter, Marsha Shifflett and husband, Jimmy of Texas; three sons, Steve Smith and wife, Lisa of Malvern, Danny Smith of Friendship and Mike Howell of Texas; ten grandchildren, Cory LeBlanc, Laura Graham, Amber Feemster, Chris Smith, Jason Smith, Melissa Smith, Shannon Pritchard, Derek Smith, Josh Terry and Jacob Terry; thirteen great-grandchildren; five brothers, Earl Smith, Vance Smith Jr., Freddy Smith, Mickey Smith and James David Smith; and three sisters, Bobbie Eubanks, Ruthie Fulmer and Lois Kinard all of Arkadelphia.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 21st at Third Street Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Latham officiating. Burial will be in Golden cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Third Street Baptist Church.

Dana Morphew
(November 23, 1967 - June 23, 2011)

Dana Irene Morphew age 43 of Nashville passed from this life on Thursday, June 23, 2011 in Texarkana.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to Welch Funeral Home.

Todd King
(January 14, 1969 - July 9, 2011)

Nathaniel Todd King age 42 of Caddo Valley AR passed from this life on Saturday July 9, 2011 at his home in Caddo Valley AR. He was born January 14, 1969 in Fort Smith AR, the son of Don and Marie King.

Todd served proudly in the Arkansas National Guard for many years. In the past he worked for the Clark County Road Department. Todd was an avid hunter and sportsman. Todd loved his family and many friends.

He was preceeded in death by his grandparents Charles and Hazel King of Texarkana TX, and Harley and Edythe Moore of Texarkana TX.

Todd is survived by his son Nathaniel Ross King of Little Rock, AR, his parents Don and Marie King of Gurdon AR, three brothers Taylor King of Arkadelphia AR, Mark King of Gurdon AR, and Daniel King of Bismarck AR, and his companion of many years DeAnn Echols of Caddo Valley AR.

Visitation will be held at Welch Funeral Home on Monday July 11, 2011 between 6 and 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Beech Street Baptist Church in Gurdon, AR on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at 10 a.m.

Interment will be at the Rose Hedge cemetery in Gurdon, AR.

Pallbearers will be Taylor King, Mark King, Daniel King, Ricky Ross, Jay Holland and Christopher Holland.

Services are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Robert "Junior" Bagwell
(December 25, 1942 - September 29, 2011)

Robert "Junior" Bagwell age 68 of Arkadelphia died Thursday, September 29. 2011. He was born December 25, 1942 in Clark County the son of Clarence and Maudie Bagwell. He was retired from Henderson State University, a well known horse trainer around the state, and a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Margie Hendrix Bagwell, three daughters, Lynn Hendrix of Donaldson, Renee Pritchard and Robyn Ernhart both of Arkadelphia, one brother, Willie Bagwell of Arkadelphia, two sisters, Christine Belin of Marion, LA, Evelyn Plum of Little Rock, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 2, 2011 in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Brother Donnie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Will Wyckoff, David Turner, Shawn Stock, Greg Spann, Ernie Flowers, Chris Clark, and Sam Hilterbrand.

Sharon Jeanette Emory
(July 8, 1963 - January 11, 2013)

Sharon Jeanette Emory age 49 of Bismarck died Friday, January 11, 2013. She was born in Arkadelphia July 8, 1963 the daughter of Raymond and Alice McCarty Lookadoo.

She is survived by her husband Lenard Emory, three daughters, Jennifer Marsh of Mt. Pine, Carol Hall of Mt. Ida, and Susan Whitten of Bentonville, her father, Raymond Lookadoo of Point Cedar, two brothers, Darrell and Kenneth Lookadoo both of Hot Springs, one sister, Regina Chaney of Conway, and 8 grandchildren.

A date and time for a memorial service will be posted later.

Lillian Childress
(March 2, 1922 - October 11, 2011)

Lillian M. Childress, age 89, of Arkadelphia, died Tuesday October 11, 2011. She was born March 2, 1922 in Lenox Community (near Alpine), Clark County, the daughter of the late Wiley K. and Georgia Bryant Fendley. She was predeceased by three sisters, Gwendlyn Fendley, Nannie Lola Fendley, and Stella Lackey. Mrs. Childress was a Baptist. She was a retired seamstress. She also worked for the Human Development Center and later operated a child care business. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, working in her flowerbed, and traveling.

She is survived by one son, R. David Childress, of Little Rock one daughter, Frances Childress, of Arkadelphia, four brothers, D.A. Fendley and Gerald Fendley of the Lenox Community, Laymon Fendley of Bismarck, and Rueben Fendley of Arkadelphia; three sisters Gladys Pelham of Texas, Frauline Mathis of Sherwood, and Julia Garrett of Arkadelphia; a large number of nieces and nephews and many friends.

No visitation is planned. Graveside services will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia, Arkansas In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels at 1311 North 10th. St. Arkadelphia, AR. 71923.

Debra Jean Nowlin
(November 27, 1965 - November 29, 2011)

Debra Jean Spears Nowlin, age 46 of Fordyce, formerly of Amity, died Tuesday, November 29, at her residence in Fordyce. She was born November 27, 1965 the daughter of Marlin Joe and Jo Ann Bryant Spears. She formerly attended New Life Church. She was predeceased by her father Marlin Joe Spears of Amity.

Survivors include her spouse, Roy Lee Nowlin Sr. of Fordyce, three sons, Roy Lee Nowlin Jr. of Bodcaw, Jerry Lynn Nowlin of Camden, Terry Lee Nowlin of Harmony Grove, one daughter, Rose Ann Nowlin of White Hall, her mother, Joann Spears of Arkadelphia, five brothers, Johnny Ray Spears of Amity, Tommy Joe Spears of Arkadelphia, Dewayne Allen Spears of Amity, Lee Everett Baker and Phillip Spears both of Amity, three sisters, Carol Hitchens of Hot Springs and Sheila Kay Hancock of Amity, and Theresea Rhodes of Hot Springs, her step mother Shirley Spears of Amity, and 10 Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Martin Jones and Rev Steve Willingham officiating. Burial will be in Golden cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Larry Randle Lea
(February 11, 1947 - March 13, 2012)

Larry Randle Lea age 65 of Friendship, Hot Spring County, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012. He was born February 11, 1947 in Camden, AR the son of Steven Charles and Clara Rosetta Randle Lea. He was owner and operator of Interstate Contractors in Hot Springs for 43 years. Larry loved the Lord, his Church and each and every day he spent on the river. The family would like to thank Dr. Ross Bandy, Dr. Dan Owens, Dr. Margi and Dr. Jeffery Tauth. Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years Cheryl Knaub Lea, one son Steven Scott Lea and his wife Tammy of Magnet Cove, one daughter Shannon Porch and her husband Mark of Malvern, one brother, Dennis Lea and his wife Linda of Olympia, WA and four grandchildren, Ryan Todd Porch, Tory Estes Lea, Patrick Lea Porch, Stephanie Diane Lea and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Arkadelphia with Rev. Jerry George officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Delamar cemetery near Manning.

Memorials may be made to the Social Hill Baptist Church.

William C. Malcom
(March 23, 1939 - July 14, 2011)

William Carol Malcom age 72 of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was born March 23, 1939 in Arkadelphia the son of the late Paul and Lillian Shepherd Malcom. William was retired from Southern Ice Company, a member of Red "A" Hunting Club and a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother Charles Malcom.

William is survived by two brothers Ricky and Jimmy (Charlotte) Malcom both of Arkadelphia, five sisters Debbie (The late Neal) Wade, Cathy (The late Terry) Reynolds, Betty (Lonnie) Harkness, Geanetta (Arnold) Banks and Joyce (Ray) Heritage all of Arkadelphia, nine nieces and five nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Don Gates officiating. Interment in Richland cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Welch Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Richard Harkness, Kirk Hudspeth, Pee Wee Strother, Bruce White, Randall Young and Curtis Breshears.

Memorials may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.

Services entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Royce Sheets
(November 4, 1930 - April 23, 2015)

Royce Sheets age 84 of Bismarck died Thursday, April 23, 2015. He was born November 4, 1930 the son of Herman and Lura Allen Sheets. He was retired from Reynolds Metals, a cattle rancher, member of The Cattleman’s Association, and a member of the Philippi Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Sheets, two brothers, Carl Dean Sheets and James Sheets, and a sister, Parthenia Woolard.

He is survived by one brother, Troy Sheets of Pearcy, AR and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Monday, April 27th at the Philippi Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Philippi cemetery. Visitation will be 1 PM Monday till service time at the Philippi Church of Christ.

Memorials may be made to the Philippi cemetery Fund.
