Neale Kirkpatrick
(February 24, 1932 - May 30, 2011)

U.S. Veteran
Neale Kirkpatrick age 79 of Royal, AR died Monday, May 30, 2011 at his home. He was born in Clark County February 24, 1932 the son of Albert L. and Annie Mae Walker Kirkpatrick. He was a 1950 graduate of Amity High School, U.S. Army Veteran of WWII, and retired from the Corps of Engineers. He was preceded in death by a daughter Celia Kirkpatrick.

Survivors include one son, Bob Kirkpatrick and his wife Carol of Sherwood, AR, two brothers, Earl Kirkpatrick and his wife Patsy Dell of Sardis, AR and Ronald Gwin Kirkpatrick and his wife Nancy of Hot Springs, one sister, Patsy Bishop of Hot Springs, one granddaughter, Annie Mae Kirkpatrick and a special friend, Imogene Harbin.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, June 3rd in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Chapel with Rev. Charles Starnes Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Jones cemetery in Amity. Visitation will be from 9 AM Friday till service time at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Jones cemetery c/o Dora Lea Bean, 316 N. Hill St., Amity, AR 71921.

Edward Dale Givens, Sr.
(April 17, 1918 - November 4, 2011)

Edward Dale Givens, Sr., of Sparkman, passed to his heavenly home at the age of 93 on November 4, 2011 for a reunion with not only his Lord, but the love of his life, Louise. He was born April 17, 1918 in Sparkman, the son of the late Daniel Hall and Eva Culbreath Givens.

Dale lived during the depression and learned that with hard work and determination, one could succeed in his endeavors. He learned and taught his family to work hard, love each other, save for a rainy day, be faithful to your Lord and church, and you could have a great life.

Dale was a farmer, cattleman, timber man, and logger during his lifetime; timber and cattle being his pride and joy. Following his active working days he took great pride in working with his wife Louise on his "projects", which were many.

At the time of his death, he was the oldest member of New Hope Baptist Church and served as deacon for many years; always working and giving behind the scene.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Givens, a sister, Lillian "Sis" Barnes and three brothers and sisters who died at a very young age.

He is survived by three sons, Edward Dale Givens, Jr. and Judy Berry, Danny Givens and wife, Johnnie, Gene Givens and wife, Jeannie all of Sparkman; three daughters, Betty Bass and the late Roy Bass, Geneva Quarles and husband, Stan all of Arkadelphia, Rosemary Walker and husband, Richard of Sparkman; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special care givers, Barbara Koloff, Joanna Donahue, Linda Ford and Donna Key.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Sunday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, November 7th at New Hope Baptist Church in Sparkman with Bro Rick Hyde, Bro. Jerry George, and Bro Jerry Holland officiating. Burial will be in Givens cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark, Jason, Anthony, Clark and Gregory Givens, and Clint Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Clay McMaster, Kevin Boyles, Brock McCorkle, Mark Mann, Dustin Smith, Brady Harmon, and Hank Sullivent. Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, P. O. Box 723, Bearden, AR. 71720.

Loice Isabella Peek
(April 23, 1929 - July 23, 2015)

Loice Isabella Peek passed away peacefully in her sleep the morning of July 23, 2015. She was born in Athens, Alabama on April 23, 1929 to Robert and Rettie Peek. She spent most of her life in Arkansas, living in Arkadelphia, Little Rock and the Benton area where she was a member of the Salem Road Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents, two brothers Lual and Leamon Peek, two sisters Lora Peek and Lovice Garner.

Loice retired from Timex in Little Rock and enjoyed many years of retirement. Her passions were for Iris gardening as a member of the Central Arkansas Iris Club, doll collecting and travel having visited all 48 of the contiguous states. Loice’s soul has gone home to the Lord and she has left those who loved and cared for her with many fond memories.

Services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, July 26th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

Wilma Jean Ashley
(Died October 1, 2011)

Wilma Jean Ashley, age 69, of Glenwood (formerly of Arkadelphia) passed from this life on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Arkansas Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. She was born on August 7, 1942 in Arkadelphia, the daughter of the late Fletcher M. and Esther Woods Cooley. Wilma worked in retail sales and was a Methodist.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, one son, Richard Ashley, one daughter, Melinda Ashley, one grandchild, Jeremy Bosley and one great grandchild, Brandon Bosley.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 3, 2011 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Carroll Jackson officiating.

No visitation is planned.

Services are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Carolyn Tardie
(October 3, 1943 - March 2, 2015)

Carolyn Chancellor Tardie age 71, of Malvern, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at her home. She was born October 3, 1943 in Lambert, Arkansas to Loy and Ruth Marie Hill Chancellor. Carolyn was a retired office administrator. She was preceded in death by her father and one son, Reed Guthrie.

Survivors are one daughter, Zoe Boorn of Anaheim, California; two sons, Sterling Tardie and Bradley Tardie both of California; her mother, Marie Chancellor Brewer of Malvern; one brother, Faron Chancellor of Panama and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 7th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. Doug Fendley officiating.

Dorothy Epperson
(December 3, 1925 - April 13, 2015)

Dorothy Tarpley Epperson, age 89, of Arkadelphia died Monday, April 13, 2015. She was was born in Okolona, AR December 3, 1925 the daughter of Hosea and Lizzie Randal Tarpley. She was a former member of Arkadelphia Junior Auxiliary and First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband Woodrow 'Woody' Epperson, two brothers and five sisters.

Survivors include one son Randy Epperson of Arkadelphia, one daughter, Kay (John) Lowe of Signal Mountain, TN, three grandchildren, Keaton Thomas Epperson, John Richard Lowe Jr. and David Edward Lowe and three great grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 17th at First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia with Rev. Drew Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia.

Joan Price Gross
(January 7, 1940 - October 7, 2011)

Joan Price Gross, age 71, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, October 7, 2011 at her home. She was born on January 7, 1940 in Wynne, the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas Glenn and Penny Armstrong Price. Joan was a home health care provider and attended DeGray Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, DeAnn Bledsoe of DeGray and Melanie (Steve) Morgan of Magnet Cove, two sons, Gary Gross of Chidester and Glenn (Victoria) Gross of Little Rock, ten grandchildren, Anson Gross, Chris Smith, Melissa Smith, Shannon Pritchard, Derek Smith, Brandie Bridges, Amy Morrison, Trey Bledsoe, Ashley Gross and Gavin Gross and five great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 17, 2011 at DeGray Baptist Church with Rev. David Young officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.

Interment will be in Cogbill cemetery in Wynne.

Memorials may be made to the DeGray Baptist Church, 1492 DeGray Road, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Services are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Royce Carvel Trout
(August 16, 1944 - October 16, 2011)

Royce Carvel Trout, age 67, of Friendship, passed from this life on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at his home. He was born on August 16, 1944 in Beaton, AR, the son of the late Sid and Gurtie Mae Bingham Trout. Royce was a welder. He was preceded in death by a son, Royce Sidney Trout and siblings, Jo, Sam, Lynn, Bertha and Josephine Trout.

Royce is survived by is wife, Dorothy Marie McMahan Trout, his children, Lynn (William) Ivy, Starlette Trout, Jamie Powers, Sissy (Marley) Canady and Roy Trout, all of Friendship, his sister, Winnie Hightower of Arkadelphia, grandchildren, Krissy Farmer, Stephen Ivy, Jon Ivy, Patrick Ivy, Jimmy Houghtlen, Elizabeth Houghtlen, Kim Houghtlen, Sydney Morgan, Marley Canady, Jr., Maggie Canady and Macey Canady, and eleven great grand children.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time and they request casual attire.

Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Shockey, Dan McGalliard, Doug Wasson, Marley Canady, Sr., Ed Ray and Steve McMahan.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 North University, Little Rock, AR 72207.

Vivian Lakey
(Died October 24, 2011)

Vivian Louisa Lakey, age 64, of Arkadelphia passed from this life on Monday October 24, 2011 at her home. She was born on January 28, 1947 in Murfreesboro, TN, the daughter of the late Albert Dolvan and Charlotte Phillips Speelman. Vivian worked as the office manager for Andrew's Candy Kitchen and circulation manager for Des Plains Publishing. She was a member of Richwoods Baptist Church and a United States Army veteran. Vivian was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Doyle Speelman.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lewis Lakey, one daughter, Shawn Dew (Jimmy) Carlton of Arkadelphia, one son, Erin Grogan of Chicago and seven grandchildren, Dustin Cooper, Quenton Cooper, Jared Carlton, Molly Carlton, Zachary Grogan, Kylie Grogan and Bryce Grogan.

A celebration of Vivian's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Park Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Erby Burgess officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM until service time at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Clark County, 627 Walnut Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Arrangements are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
