Pauline Powell
(May 26, 1925 - October 29, 2012)

Donnie Pauline Wells Powell, age 87 of Arkadelphia, formerly of Gurdon, passed from this life on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born on May 26, 1925 in Gurdon, the daughter of the late Grover Eugene and Lilly Patterson Wells. Pauline was a nurses aide and participated in the foster grandparent program at Ouachita Baptist University for many years. She was a charter member of Center Point Baptist Church in Gurdon. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Powell, and her son, Bobby Allen Powell.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Hill of Gurdon and Wanda Sue (Paul) Hill of Bismarck, one son, Gifford (Stevie) Powell of Benton, one sister, Linda DeVault of Gurdon, one brother, Eugene Wells of El Dorado, thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Center Point Baptist Church in Gurdon with Bro. Ollie Trout officiating.

Interment will be in Southfork cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Memorials may be made to Center Point Baptist Church, c/o Doug Quillin, 801 South 6th Street, Gurdon, AR 71743.

Services are entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Samuel Junior Rogers
(June 15, 1972 - November 25, 2012)

Samuel Junior Rogers age 40 of Shreveport, LA. died Sunday, November 25, 2012. He was born June 15, 1972 in Arkadelphia the son of George Etta Pulaski and Lawis Rogers. He was a insurance salesman for State Farm Insurance Company and a member of Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, George Etta Pulaski; his grandparents and niece, Jessica Felder.

Survivors are his father, Lawis Rogers and wife, Barbara of Shreveport, LA; one brother, Duane Jones and wife, Penny of Addis, LA; one sister, Deborah Anderson and husband, James of Waveland, MS; one step-brother, Gabriel D. Jones of El Paso, TX; one step-sister, Rachel Russell and husband, Chris of Shreveport, LA; several nephews and neices.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, November 30th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in Richland cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Sharyn Walters
(April 15, 1945 - October 26, 2012)

Sharyn Walters, age 67, of Murfreesboro, passed from this life on Friday, October 26, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Welch Funeral home.

Herbie Eugene Hinton
(June 25, 1927 - October 24, 2012)

Herbie Eugene Hinton Jr. age 85 of Prescott passed from this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia.

Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Doug Wright
(July 26, 1941 - May 31, 2011)

Jack Douglas (Doug) Wright age 69 of Arkadelphia died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Arkadelphia. He was born July 26, 1941 the son of Jack Patrick and Adelle Williams Wright. Doug retired from South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative after thirty-six years of service, was previously owner/operator of Pike County Speedway, the president of Colburn Loop Hunting Club and a U. S. Air Force veteran. Doug loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and his rat terrier dogs.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty years, Delphine Whitley Wright on May 10, 2011.

Survivors include one son, Alan Wright and wife, Donna of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; one daughter, Brenda Wilson and husband, Mickey of Rosboro, Arkansas;one, six grandchildren, David Wilson, Dan Wilson, Stephen Wright, Kayce Teague, Stephanie Kapp and Stacee Wright; and one brother, Jimmy Wright and wife, Cathy of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, June 3rd at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harloe White and Bro. Keith Howell officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hedge cemetery at Gurdon. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Randy Johnson, Billy Cogburn, Andy Wood, Billy Tolleson, Billy White and Stan Cruthis. Honorary pallbearers are members of Colburn Loop Hunting Club and former co-workers at South Central Arkansas Electric Cooperative.

Bobby Young
(August 21, 1930 - October 18, 2012)

Bobby Young, age 82 of Bismarck, passed from this life on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at his home. He was born in Sheridan on August 21, 1930. Bobby was a mechanic with International Paper for forty-three years.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Hensley Young of Bismarck, two sons, Bobby W. (Sarah) Young of White Hall and James F. (Karen) Young of Redfield, his daughter, Melody (Arnold) Lowery of Sulphur Springs, two step sons, Brian Hamblin of Rison and James (Marcie) Hamblin, Jr. of Sulphur Springs, step daughter, Zelda (J. R.) Baugh of Bismarck, one brother, Frank Lee Young of Sheridan, two sisters, Frances Nelson and Velma Wingard, both of Sheridan, fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 22, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home, with Bro. Ronnie Hardin officiating.

Memorials may be made to CARTI Foundation, P. O. Box 55011, Little Rock, AR 72215 or American Heart Association, 909 W 2nd St, Little Rock, AR 72201-2127.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home.

Nadine Frazier
(December 21, 1929 - August 26, 2011)

Nadine Frazier age 81 of Bismarck died Friday, August 26, 2011. She was born December 21, 1929 the daughter of Charlie and Minnie Bennett Luker. She was a retired food service worker and a member of Bismarck Pentecostal Church, She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Clinton Luker, one sister, Lucille Sanders, and her step father, Charlie Carpenter.

Survivors include three sisters, Hazel Hughes of Bismarck, Charlene Phillips and Georgia Kennedy both of Hot Springs, one brother, Bobby Carpenter, also of Hot Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 5 PM Tuesday in the Philippi cemetery with Brother Van Glidewell officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

Ruth Coston
(September 28, 1933 - April 5, 2015)

Emma Ruth Robertson Coston, age 81 of Clarksville AR, went to be with her Lord Sunday April 5, 2015. She was born September 28, 1933 in Social Hill, AR, the daughter of Robert Henry and Sarah Jane Ballard Robertson. She was an LPN, a member of the B&PW;, and attended the Adkins Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, loving husband Ed Coston, brothers, Chester, James, Claude, Clark, Luther Robertson and a sister Florence Hall.

Survivors include three daughters, Dianne (Charlie) Hass of Hot Springs, Darlene (Mike) Caldwell of Clarksville, Denise (Casey) Wadlow of Hot Springs, two brothers Bobby and Harold Robertson of Malvern, two sisters, Mildred Smith and Wanda Peterson of Malvern, 6 Grandchildren, Kim Langley, Kelly McGilton, Matthew and Lucas Caldwell, Sarah and Jenna Burns. 5 great-grandchildren also survive.

Visitation 12PM followed by funeral service at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 8th., in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Regina Turner officiating. Burial will be in Social Hill cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew and Lucas Caldwell, Chris Langley, Kevin McGilton, Mike Burns and C.C. McDonald. Honorary Daughter Debbie Noble, and Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Hass, Roy Garlington, Buddy Young, Employees of Heritage Inn Retirement Center and Johnson Co. Hospice. In Lieu of flowers donations to American Cancer Society or the Gideons.

Opal Oleta Apollos
(January 2, 1921 - April 27, 2012)

Mrs. Opal Oleta Goad Apollos, age 91, of Antoine, died Friday, April 27, 2012. She was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Gamaliel, Ky, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Katherine Goad. In 1938 she loved and married Mr. Elzie Cardell Apollos. They were married for sixty three years, in which they began a journey from Kentucky to West Texas to Oregon and later to the Antoine area. Here they remained to work in the sawmill industry and later became the owners of a bustling store that was the local hangout for all teenagers of the area. Her greatest accomplishments were being a strong, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and a lifetime member of the Antoine Baptist Church. She was simply known to all as 'Gran'.

She was preceded in death by husband Cardell; daughter, Nancy Imogene Spickard; and great granddaughter Tara Chantel Ruchalski and five siblings, Bose Goad, Cecil Goad, Enola Goad, Olene Goad, and Kathleen Rich.

Survivors include her daughter Linda Maurine Griffith and husband Morgan and one brother Mr. Orvis Goad and wife Elaine of Woodstock, IL. Surviving granddaughters are Tamara Hankins; Angela Fabian; Gena Gregston; Kimra Osburn; Paula Mentzer; Monica Brannon; and one grandson Mark Spickard. Gran has 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Antoine Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Antoine cemetery under the direction of the Ruggles - Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at the funeral home.

Carol Maxine Hamrick
(March 17, 1929 - October 12, 2011)

Carol Maxine Hamrick age 82 of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011. She was born March 17, 1929 in Verdon, Oklahoma, the daughter of Douglas and Effie Cochran Wilford. Survivors incude one sister, Patricia Hill of Arkadelphia. There will be no formal services.

Robert Lee Watts
(April 6, 1942 - October 14, 2011)

Robert Lee Watts age 69 of Alpine died Friday. He was born April 6, 1942 the son of John A. and Blanche Hill Watts. He was owner and operator of R&W; and Slantco machine shops. He was a member of the Chalybeate Valley Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jonnie Palmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Watts, his four children, Donnie (Ann) Watts of Jacksonville, AR, Brenda (Garry) Williams of Cabot, John (Renee) Watts of Oxford, AR, Jodie Watts of Amity, one brother, Herbert (Sue) Watts of Hot Springs, two sisters, Dorothy (Elton) Wade of Houston, TX, Kalita Smith of Kirby, AR, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Tuesday at the Chalybeate Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Jones cemetery near Amity. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Monday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Leonard Willis Floyd
(November 22, 1919 - May 11, 2011)

U.S. Veteran
Leonard Willis Floyd, age 91, of Arkadelphia, died Wednesday, May 11, 2011 in Arkadelphia. He was born November 22, 1919 in Clark County Arkansas the son of the late Leonard Charlie and Millie Roberts Floyd. Leonard was a retired auto body repairman and worked at Harding Glass Co. in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He was a member of Oaklawn United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, a very active member of the Masonic Lodge, a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and Korean Conflict and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, Helen Kelly Floyd on March 18, 2009. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Floyd and Charles (Jr.) Floyd; and two sisters, Lela Kirksey and Lorena Sossamon.

Survivors include one brother, Bobby Floyd and wife Sue of Laneburg, Arkansas; sister-in-law, Joyce Floyd of Prescott, Arkansas; brother-in-law, Duel Kelly and wife, Sue of Okolona, Arkansas; several nieces and nephews including one special nephew, Gene Banks and wife, Pat of Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Graveside services will at 10:00 AM Friday May 13th at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jim Henderson officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to Oak Grove cemetery, P. O. Box 195, Amity, Arkansas 71921.

Lora Peek
(September 5, 1922 - June 10, 2012)

Lora Peek age 89 of Benton died Sunday, June 10, 2012 in Bryant, Arkansas. She was born September 5, 1922 the daughter of the late Robert Allen and Rettie Isabella Hardy Peek. Lora was retired from the Timex Corp. in Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lovice Garner; two brothers, Lual Peek and Leamon Peek.

Survivors are one sister, Loice Peek of Benton and one niece.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 13th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Body will lie in state Tuesday at the funeral home.
