Reba Diane Purifoy
(April 19, 1949 - February 12, 2012)

Reba Diane Thornton Purifoy, age 62 of Caddo Valley, passed from this life on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. She was born on April 19, 1949 in Clark County, the daughter of the late Roy and Mary Elizabeth LaRue Ezell. Reba was a member of Third Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Royce Dean McClain.

Reba is survived by two sons and their wives, Chris and Robyn Thornton of Okolona and Chad and Branaie Thornton of El Dorado, two brothers, Benny Ezell of Kansas City, MO and Johnny Ezell of Camden and four grandchildren, Alex, Grant and Blake Thornton and Jessica Shaw.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Caddo Valley cemetery with Charlie Williams officiating.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Memorials may be made to the Caddo Valley cemetery Fund, C/O John Frazier, 208 East Dodson, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 or to the City of Caddo Valley General Fund.

Services are entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Gary Preston Garner
(July 15, 1943 - September 26, 2011)

Gary Preston Garner age 68 of Bismarck died Monday, September 26, 2011. He was born in Greene County Arkansas the son of Curtis Preston and Sylvia Mayo Grooms Garner. He was a retired farm implement salesman and later worked as custodian of Bismarck Public Schools. He was a Methodist and attended the Bismarck United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rita Garner Mobley.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Mickey Garner, three daughters, Latisha Garner of Alton MO, Michelle Bell of Ft. Worth, TX, Vicki Parks and her husband Jeff of Bedford, TX, five grandchildren, Anthony Nicholas Garner, Ashley Elizabeth Bell, Emily Renee Carter, Lori Grace Barrett, and Ryleigh Elizabeth Parks, one great grandson, Gabriel Nicholas Garner.

Funeral services will be 4 PM Thursday, September 29, in the Gym at Bismarck High School with Chris Morrison and Heather Clawitter officiating. Burial will be in the Old Bismarck cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Memorials may be made to the Old Bismarck cemetery Fund, C/O Gary Burroughs, 8180 Hwy 7, Bismarck, AR 71929 or Bismarck All Sports Booster Club.

Bobby Smith
(March 21, 1960 - April 2, 2012)

Bobby Darrell Smith age 52 of Amity died Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Joseph Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs. He was born March 21, 1960 in Conway, AR. the beloved son of Cathern (Cathye) Crary of Amity, AR, and Kenneth Smith. Bobby graduated from Amity, AR, he received his plumbers license, electrical license, and worked 25 years for the city of Fordyce Water and Sewer Department, side job was City of Fordyce dog catcher. He was also in the Airborne Army National Guard for a short time. he played the guitar and sang, loved the 50s music, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church of Conway, AR. He married Becky Lightfoot of Fordyce and years later divorced.

He was proceeded in death by his stepfather, Clayton Crary of Amity, AR, and his father, Kenneth Smith of Arkadelphia, AR.

Surviving relatives are his mother, Cathern Crary of Amity; one brother, Michael and wife, Joanne Smith of Conway; two sons, Blake Smith of Arkadelphia, Brett Smith of Monticello, AR. He also had four half sisters, Cindy, Bambi, Kennis Ann and Brandi Smith of Louisiana.

Memorial service to be at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 7th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Rev. Derrick Barnes officiating. Visitation will be noon Saturday until service time at the funeral home.

Martha L. Tyler
(September 30, 1939 - June 8, 2012)

Martha Tyler, Age 76, died Friday, June 8, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehab in Arkadelphia. No Formal Services will be held.

Annie Harmon
(June 24, 1925 - February 10, 2012)

Annie Sue Harmon, age 86 of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, February 10, 2012 at her home. She was born on June 24, 1925 in Bearden, the daughter of the late James Alvah and Ethel Beatrice Sanders Chambliss. Annie worked for the Human Development Center, Levi and Hollywood Vassarette. She was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harmon, her brother, James Edwin Chambliss and two sisters, Clemmie McCoy and Allene Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Gaither-Maddox and husband, Tom, of Hot Springs, two sons and their wives, Danny and Linda Harmon of Arkadelphia and Dale and Madeline Harmon of Bismarck, five sisters, Bertha Hendrix of White Hall, Berniece Robertson of Camden, Carolyn Evans of Drasco, Louise James of Tulsa and Jessie Ruth Strickland of Hampton, one brother, Charles Chambliss of Arkadelphia, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Salem cemetery with Danny Harmon officiating.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

Pallbearers will be Annie's grandsons, Justin & Josh Gaither and Mike, Steve, Ricky and Brady Harmon.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 901 North University, Little Rock, AR 72207.

The family will be at 118 Madden Lane in Caddo Valley.

Services are entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Arvel Travis Trammel
(August 1, 1948 - October 20, 2011)

Arvel Travis Trammel age 63 of Donaldson died Thursday. He was born August 1, 1948 the son of Arvel E. and Janey Knighten Trammel. He was a logger and of the Pentecostal Faith.

Survivors include his wife Patricia Everett Trammel, two sons, Stacey Travis Trammel (Devola) of Bismarck, Patrick Dale Trammel (Mary) of Hot Springs, one daughter, Karrie Michelle Trammel of Donaldson, three brothers, Eugene Trammel (Betty) of Malvern, Harold Trammel of Bismarck, Eddie Trammel (Debbie) of Bismarck, one sister, Phyllis Cook (Tommy) of Okolona and three grandchildren, T. J., Darian and Stacey.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 30th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel.

Frank Phelps
(October 17, 1939 - July 24, 2015)

U.S. Veteran
Frank Junior Phelps, 75, passed into Christ's loving arms on Friday, July 24, 2015 in Bastrop, LA. He was born on October 17, 1939 in Brown Springs, AR, to the late Joseph and Nettie Phelps. Frank was a faithful servant of Our Lord Jesus Christ and a long standing member of Christ Episcopal Church in Bastrop, LA. He was a gentle giant, hard-working, loving husband, father and friend, always offering generous wisdom, a funny joke, or a hug to everyone he met. He served faithfully in the U.S. Air Force, was an independent agricultural consultant and a 1966 graduate of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. An active member and former Potentate of the Barak Shrine Temple, a Cabiri member also a member of the Commodore Club and his charitable and humanitarian efforts were both great and small; Frank touched many lives with his actions.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Floyd, Roy, Jim and Paul and by his sisters, Ruby Collinson and Betty McElyea and by his son, Joseph Lawrence Phelps.

Frank is survived by his wife, Roberta Wayne Phelps of Mer Rouge, his daughter, Cheryl Phelps of Shreveport, his son, Frank Jay Phelps and wife, Jennifer of Rogers, AR his step sons, Kenn Woodard of Rogers, AR, Goodwin Gladney and wife Andrea, Robert Gladney and wife Diane of Mer Rouge, LA, and his grand children Lauren Rogers and husband Ben, Jake and Daniel Gladney and Clarice Gladney, and his sisters, Mary Ferree and Bonnie Roberts.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, July 27, 2015 at Jones cemetery, off Highway 51N out of Arkadelphia near Brown Springs with Father Ned Head officiating. No visitation will be held per his request.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barak Shrine Temple, 6620 Frontage Rd, Monroe, LA, 71202 or Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3100 Samford, Ave, Shreveport, LA, 71103, as per the families' request.

Final arrangements are made by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, Arkadelphia, AR.

Billie Monroe
(April 9, 1940 - February 3, 2012)

Billie Rea Monroe, age 71, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Friday, February 3, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. She was born on April 9, 1940 in Binger, OK, the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Mitchell Gregory. Billie worked as a prison guard, deputy sheriff and genealogist. She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Rector. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Garland Monroe, her son, John Gregory White and her daughter, Alice Suzanne White.

She is survived by one daughter, Anna Givens (Charles) of Arkadelphia, one son, Robert White (Lisa) of Rector, one step daughter, Janice Monroe of Arizona, one sister, Ann Jones of Wake Village, TX, one brother, James Morrow of Tulsa, OK, eight grandchildren, Matt, Danielle, Josh, Chrystal, Christopher, Steven, David and Keith and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia with Bro. David Smith officiating.

Memorials may be made to the Clark County Library Fund, 609 Caddo Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Betty Anthony Thompson
(Died January 27, 2012)

Betty Anthony Thompson age 75 of the DeGray Community passed from this life on Friday, January 27, 2012 at her home. She was born in Bearden, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Hazel Nowlin Anthony. Betty was a retired school teacher and counselor and a member of DeGray Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wayne Thompson and her daughter, Brenda Jones Mankertz.

Betty is survived by her daughter Janet Jones Sandman (Paul) of Dallas, TX, her son, Jim Jones (Karen) of Arkadelphia, step daughter, Leah Thompson of Seattle, WA, one brother, Donald Anthony (Susan) of Hot Springs, two sisters, Sylvia Bevill (Jackie) of Bearden and Linda Anthony Bennett (Anthony) of Little Rock, eleven grandchildren, Jake Jones, Ryan Norman, Taylor Norman, Kara Hurst, Hannah Jester, Ashley Jester, Ronson Peters, Coral Jolee Peters, Whitney Smith, Shelby Gills and Mason Gills and two great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 30, 2012 at the DeGray cemetery with Rev. John Hill officiating.

Pallbearers will be Justin Garner, Roy Bethel, Lee King, Alan Wrinkle, Mickey Bevill and Brad Hardman.

No visitation will be held. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the home of Jim and Karen Jones, 1 Loblolly Lane, Arkadelphia.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Clark County, 627 Walnut, Arkadelphia, AR 71923.

Final arrangements are entrusted to the Welch Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.

Christopher Andrus
(March 5, 1953 - May 12, 2011)

George Christopher 'Chris' Andrus age 58 of Arkadelphia died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at his home. He was born March 5, 1953 in Glendale, California to George Gibson and Willo Jean Neimyier Andrus and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was preceeded in death by his father, George Andrus and one granddaughter, Adele Andrus. Chris was known as a carpenter and painter, but his passion was fine arts. He taught public school at Little Rock and Arkadelphia, and college at OTC and HSU.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Smith; one son Edward (Aria) Andrus of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three daughters, Marie Andrus of Bryant, Arkansas, Emily (Willie) Perry of San Diego, California, and Sarah Andrus of Yokosuka, Japan; two grandchildren, Michael Hookfin and Elijah Andrus; mother, Willo Jean Andrus of Burbank, California; two brothers, Alex (Jenny) Andrus of San Francisco, California; Merritt (Diane) Andrus of Provo, Utah; and seven nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, May 17th at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home with President Billy Haygood officiating. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Visitation will be Monday from 6-8 P.M. and Tuesday from 9-10 A.M. Memorials may be made to Perritt Elementary Art Club, 1900 Walnut St., Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923.
