Elizabeth DeVon
February 23, 1917 - January 30, 2012

Elizabeth DeVon, 94, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, January 30, 2012.

She was born February 23, 1917 in La Center, Kentucky to Aubrey and Sarah Tisdel Simmons.

Elizabeth should be remembered as one who loved life with a spirit of true kindness for family and friends.

She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

She is predeceased by her parents.

Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Verland DeVon; sons, James DeVon, Thomas DeVon, Larry DeVon, David DeVon, Dale DeVon and Wayne DeVon; daughter, Linda Oletti; sister, Etta Evans; 22 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Faith Fellowship Church with Pastor Troy Jennings.

Ruth Angelon McCarthy
May 6, 1927 - January 30, 2012

Ruth Angelon McCarthy, 84, of Hot Springs died January 30, 2012.

She was born May 6, 1927 in Piedmont, Alabama to Luther and Ola (Woods) Boatner.

Ruth was a devoted teacher and writer.

She is predeceased by her parents and husband, John Thomas McCarthy.

Loving survivors include son, Kevin McCarthy, of Hot Springs; son, Phillip McCarthy, of Austin, Texas; daughter, Angela Harris, of Houston, Texas; brother, Jimmy Boatner, of Piedmont, Alabama; four grandchildren, John McCarthy, Zach McCarthy, Isabella McCarthy and A.J. Greer; and her good buddy Roscoe, the dog.

Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Sam Houston National cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.

Gregory Bryce Rodgers
April 29, 1959 - February 1, 2012

Gregory Bryce "Buck" Rodgers of Pearcy, AR passed away at home on February 1, 2012.

He was born on April 29, 1959 in Wichita, KS and raised in Ola, AR.

He is preceeded in death by his mom, Iris Gale Williams, and mother Clarice Bly Keys.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Anita Walsh Rodgers; his children Stormee Williams and Adam Watson; his father Buddy Rodgers; his stepmother Carol and his sisters Stacey Rodgers and Stephanie Rodgers.

Greg retired after working as a Senior Systems Analyst at Advanced Micro Devices in Austin, Tx for 20 years.

He moved with his wife and children back to Arkansas in 2009 after living 27 years in Austin, to be closer to their families.

He was a devoted husband, loving father and good friend to many.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A reception will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with service to follow at 3:00 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

The family asks that donations to help with the service be sent to Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, 155 Section Line Rd, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913 in care of Anita Rodgers.

Betty Marie Darby
February 12, 1953 - January 29, 2012

Betty Marie ‘Betty Boop’ Darby, 58, of Hot Springs, passed away January 29, 2012.

She was born February 12, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Robert Lee and Betty (Dickson) Darby.

Betty was retired after 17 years at Oaklawn Jockey Club, which was one of her passions.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and son, Jason Mulhausen.

Loving survivors include Stephen ‘Stevo’ Evans.

Her loving companion and life time partner.

'My Sweet Baby, you’ve won your battle by defying all the odds.

It is time for you to rest 'My Free Bird' while riding on the wings of Angels.

We will be together again My Loving Soul Mate', love, Stephen 'Stevo'

Other loving survivors include daughter, Teffany (Tim) Jackson; son, Christopher ‘Jamey’ Mulhausen; Steve’s daughter, Amy Evans; brother, Bobby Darby; sisters, Lynn Darby, Nancy (Barry) Robinson, LaDonna (Danny) Thimmes and Clara Cook; Betty’s children’s grandparents, Harold and Betty Mulhausen, of Oklahoma; eight nieces, three nephews, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

There will be a 'Family and Friends Celebration' of her wonderful life today at noon at 735 Fleetwood Drive, Hot Springs.

We would also like to take this time to thank all the wonderful people at St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital, the staff of 4-West and all of the wonderful doctors who cared for her thru her final journey to the Holy Gates.

Extra thanks go to her brother Bobby and special friends, Sissy and Carol.

CURTIS GASTON JR.
March 16, 1928 - July 23, 2012

Curtis Gaston Jr., 84, of Jessieville passed away Monday, July 23, 2012.

He was born March 16, 1928 in Sulphur Springs, Arkansas to Curtis Gaston Sr. and Lessie Tedford Gaston.

Curtis was a retired logger.

He loved to hunt and garden.

Curtis was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents; son, Bobby Glen Gaston; daughters, Janice Harrison and Cathy Crain; and brothers, Billy and Jack Gaston.

Curtis is survived by wife, Christine Gaston; sons, Terry Gaston and Carl (Cindy) Gaston, both of Jessieville; daughter, Judy (Johnny) Edwards of Jessieville; sisters, Linda Faye Bean, Glenda Mae Ballard, both of Jessieville and Opal Spriggs of Texarkana, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2012 at Caruth Village Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmie Scott officiating.

Burial to follow in Shiloh cemetery.

Pallbearers include Scott Chase, Arlie Harrison, Michael Meny, John Edwards, Brad Gaston and Kenneth Crain.

Honorary pallbearers include Darrell Oats, R.C. Crumpton, Bobby Ragsdale, Johnny Edwards, Doug Blackwell and his co-workers at Weyerhaeuser.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Kenneth Gene Martin
September 21, 1927 - July 23, 2012

Kenneth Gene Martin, 84, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, at home surrounded by family and friends went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, July 23, 2012.

He was born September 21, 1927 in Joplin, Arkansas to the late Floyd N. and Myrtle (Brown) Martin.

Kenneth was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church of Hot Springs and was employed in Commercial Construction.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially being with his church family.

Kenneth will most be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Geraldine Guinn Martin, son Joel Martin, daughter Linda Armstrong, brothers Junior Martin, Odean Martin and Charles Martin and two sisters Bernice Glass and Virginia (Dolly) McNair.

Kenneth is survived by his wife June Martin of Hot Springs; daughter Carol Gibson (Butch) of Fairland, Oklahoma; step-sons Randall Menser of Paragould, Arkansas and Scott Menser (Kathy) of Stafford, Virginia; step-daughter Jacque Holmes (Don) of Hot Springs; six grandchildren Tamara Clinton, Kenny Box, Stephanie Box, Joey Martin, James Martin, and Sanda Martin, eleven step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a very special aunt Jo Huff of Mountain Pine, Arkansas.

Pallbearers include Don Holmes, Jon Haynes, Christopher Pinkston, Butch Gibson, Tracy Cranford and Thaddeus Elder.

Honorary pallbearers include Dr. John Bond, Nurse Julie Fisher, St. Joseph's Home Health, and Dierkson Hospice.

Visitation will be from 6:00 ' 8:00 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home.

Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Harold Elder officiating.

Burial will follow in Glazier Peau cemetery.

Fr. Francis Edwin Bede Thornton
September 15, 1927 - July 23, 2012

Fr. Francis Edwin Bede Thornton, 84, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, went to be with our Lord and Savior Monday, July 23, 2012 at his home with family and friends.

He was born September 15, 1927 at home in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

He has lived from Hot Springs, Arkansas to Memphis, Tennessee - Flagstaff, Arizona to Ft Worth, Texas.

Frank was a Celtic Episcopal Priest & served our country in Japan during World War II, a member of The South Hot Springs Lions Club, Hot Springs Convener for Clan Donald, a member of the Society of Arkansas Professional Engineers, Jr. Chamber of Commerce in Memphis, Tennessee, and former Acolyte Master and Lay Reader at St. Luke's Episcopal in Hot Springs.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Evelyn R. Thornton and son Geoffrey F. Thornton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Thornton Sr. and Jeannette C. Thornton; son Gregory E. Thornton; brother and sisters Robert E. Thornton Jr., Louise T. Ginsburg, Hanna V. Mullikin, and Mary Evelyn Busby.

Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Christ Anglican Church on 504 Trivista Left, Hot Springs, Arkansas with Father Marcus Emmons officiating.

Honorary pallbearers include Dr. Martin Koehn, Arkansas Hospice, Leslie Thurlow, Gale Coffman, Veterans Administration, and the Hot Springs V.A. Clinic Personnel.

GLORIA DINSE
November 6, 1925 - July 31, 2012

Gloria Wittenburg Dinse, 86, Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Tuesday, July 31, 2012.

She was born November 6, 1925, Chicago, Illinois to the late Charles F. and Clara (Kiehl) Witttenburg.

Gloria taught school in Palatine, Illinois for twenty-five years; was a member of The First Lutheran Church; life member of Delta Omicron Music Fraternity; played trumpet with Betty and the Music Makers and with George Gray’s Dance Band.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister.

She survived by nieces Jayne Wittenburg Paukert, Jodi Wittenburg Wert and Pam Wittenburg Nielsen; and nephews David Wittenburg, Bob Wittenburg, and Rick Buesing.

Service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, First Lutheran Church, 105 Village Road, Hot Springs.
