Jo Rita Lowery Fulgham
Jo Rita Lowery Fulgham, 76, of Van Buren died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, in Van Buren. She was born Aug. 2, 1932, in Midland. She was a homemaker and attended the Assembly of God in Midland.
She is survived by her husband, Bill of the home; one daughter, Karen Hoag and her husband, Gary of Elkton, Md.; two stepdaughters, Sharon Watson of Van Buren and Dana Wagner of Van Buren; one son, Stephen Sanders of Dallas; one stepson, David Fulgham of Charleston; one sister, Greta Kontos of Fort Smith; two granddaughters, Brandi Hoag of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Bridgette Hoag of Elkton, Md.
Funeral services were Sept. 10, 2008, at Midland Assembly of God with burial at Mountain View cemetery in Hackett under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Gary Hoag and members of Midland Assembly of God.

Arthur Smith
Arthur L. Smith, 67, of Huntington died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was retired from Zavala Oldsmobile in Kansas City, Kan., and a member, deacon and custodian at First Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral services were Sept. 13, 2008, at First Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Smith with burial at Cherokee cemetery in Huntington under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by his wife, Emma; five daughters, Natasha Malone of Charlotte, N.C., Kim Johnson, Ella, Verna and Sherry Smith, all of Kansas City, Kan.; three sons, Arthur Smith Jr. and Wade Smith, both of Kansas City, Kan., and Ron Winroe of Omaha, Neb.; a stepdaughter, Deleesa Meashintubby of Eugene, Ore.; two stepsons, Curtis Feimster Jr. of Fayetteville and Dwayne Feimster of Huntington; four sisters, Eva Jones and Gwen Smith, both of Kansas City, Kan., Patricia Hester of Shreveport, La., Debbie Hamilton of Kansas City, Kan.; and two brothers, Larry and Kenny Smith, both of Kansas City, Kan.
Pallbearers were Robert Cruse Sr., Hollis Lyons, William Haynes Sr., William Haynes Jr., Larry Chaffin, Booker Criswell and Charles Kendrick.

James Marvin Corbin
James Marvin Corbin, 79, of Greenwood, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean War, a Mason and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Bailey Oliver.
Interment will be at U.S. National cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
He is survived by two sons, Roger Corbin and wife, Carolyn of Greenwood, and Greg Corbin and wife Nancy of Henderson, Nev.; two daughters, Rhonda Oliver and husband Don of Greenwood, and Shelia Corbin of Fort Smith; two brothers, William Corbin and Robert Corbin both of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Alexis Corbin of Greenwood, Bradley Oliver of Greenwood, Austin Corbin and wife Jennifer of Fayetteville, Jason Seamans of Lavaca and Jessica Spidle of Fort Smith, and one great-granddaughter, AnnaMae Spidle of Fort Smith.

Ethel Edwards
Ethel Edwards, 92, of Greenwood, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, in a local hospital. She was a homemaker and the widow of Thomas Ellett Edwards. She was preceded in death by one son, Luther Edwards.
Services will be Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood.
Survivors include four sons, Troy Edwards of Ashburn, Va., Gene Edwards of Traskwood, Ark., Leonard Edwards of Walton, Oreg. And Steve Edwards of Hackett, Ark.; three daughters, Mary Virginia Ashley of Greenwood, Ark.; Fay Kennedy of Walton, Oreg.; Gay Amos of Oroville, Calif.; one brother, Larry Smith of Fresno, Calif; and one sister, Lucille Sparks Hines of Fresno, Calif. and over one hundred grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Peachtree Hospice.

Carold Boyd
Carold Pershing "Perry" Boyd, 89, of Waldron, Ark. died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in a Waldron Nursing Home. He was a member of Denton Baptist Church, a veteran of World War II and retired from the U.S. Forest Service.
Funeral services were Sept. 8, 2008, at Denton Baptist Church with burial at Sehorn cemetery in Waldron under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron.
He is survived by two daughters, Carole Lewis of Greenwood and Judy Kastl of Waldron; two sons, Clarence Boyd and wife Leslie of Waldron and Billy Boyd and wife Cindy of Greenwood; a sister, Yvonne Dunn of Muldrow, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Brad McCurry, Danny Brown, Tim Lewis, Larry Horn, Bruce Waddle and Harley McCurry.
Honorary pallbearer was Ronnie Nelson.

Therman Smith
Therman "Dutch" Edgar Smith, 82, of Greenwood died Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, in a Fort Smith hospital. He was born to the late Arch and Birdie Smith on July 25, 1926 in Ozark, Ark. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from ABF Truck Lines. He also worked in the coal mines of Sebastian County and in the oil fields in Texas for T.A.W. He was a long time cattle farmer and veterinarian assistant. He owned and operated a used tractor and farm equipment business in Greenwood and a used furniture store in Jenny Lind. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenwood and his passion in life was to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was an exceptional cook, always willing to help anybody at a time of need and loved to tell stories about his family life growing up. He was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Ray Smith and two brothers, Elmer Lee Smith and Alfred "Red" Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Billie Ruth Barnes Smith; a daughter, Brenda A. Smith Castillow of Greenwood; two sons, Danny K. Smith of Huntington and Michael L. Smith of Abilene, Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Phillips and Myrle Kerr, both of the Rye Hill community, Inis Taylor of Jenny Lind and Margaret Cook of Fort Smith; three brothers, William Smith of Greenwood, Jim Smith of Mansfield and Marion Smith of Fayetteville; 10 grandchildren, Roy Jr., Brian and Steve Castillow, Jeff and Justin Smith, Julie Marrs, Michael Wayne, Bobby Joe, Danny Lee and Wendy Smith and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Greenwood with burial at Lovelace cemetery in Witcherville under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home of Greenwood.
Pallbearers will be Roy Castillow Jr., Steve Castillow, Jeff, Justin and Troy Smith and Virgil Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers in Christ at Greenwood First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 635, Greenwood, AR. 72936.

Ernie Gleason
Ernie Gleason, 100, of Fort Smith, formerly of Mansfield, AR died Sunday, January 16, 2005 in a Fort Smith nursing home. He was a retired drafting supplies salesperson for Ridgeway?s Drafting Supply, U. S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alma. Ernie is preceded in death by his wife, Muriel.
He is survived by one daughter, Gloria Stere of Williamsport, PA; two grandsons, Jim Pyle of Kingwood, TX, Dan Pyle of Denver, CO; four great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 21 at the Fort Smith National cemetery with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 A.M. at the Methodist Village Nursing Home Chapel in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He may be viewed from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, January 20.

Vera Mosher
Vera Mae Mosher 87, of Van Buren, died Thursday, July 29, 2004 in a local hospital. She was a retired candy packer for Kopper Kettle Candies and a member of Goddard United Methodist Church.
Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 3 at Edwards Van-Alma Chapel in Van Buren with burial at Forest Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.
She is survived by two daughters, Alice Orrick and Karla Beth Baird both of Fort Smith; one son, Roy Mosher of Van Buren; one sister, Doreen Boynton of Harbor Springs, MI; four grandchildren, Becky Rogers of Fort Smith, Dewey Edwin Orrick of Little Rock, Shannon Mosher of Atlanta, GA and Brandon Sexton of Fort Smith; and three great grandchildren.
Vera is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Mosher and a grandson, Howard Vernon Mosher, II.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Greer, Joe T. Lloyd, Jr., Noel Harvey, Brandon Sexton, Johnny Jack, Chip Sexton, Dewey Edwin Orrick and Dr. Wally Hays.
Family will visit with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Henry Woods
Henry H. Woods, 85, of Van Buren, Arkansas died Saturday, July 31, 2004, in a local hospital. He was retired from Farmer's Coop in Van Buren, Arkansas and he was a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day) in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He married Louise Samples on November 5, 1949.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Woodlawn Memorial Park cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife; Louise; two daughters: Marcia Sanders and husband Randy of Van Buren, Arkansas; Sue Ann Gold and husband El Roy Gold, Jr. of The Woodlands, Texas; one son: Steve Woods and wife Susan of Fort Smith, Arkansas; three sisters: Evelyn Bass of Van Buren, Arkansas; Maxine Woods of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Bobby Woods of Van Buren; three brothers: Harry Woods of Fresno, California; Dean Woods and George Woods both of Van Buren, Arkansas; Seven Grandchildren: Matt Sanders of Van Buren; Adam Sanders of Little Rock; April Sanders of The Woodlands, Texas; Jeremy Woods and wife Frankie of Fort Smith; Josh Woods of Fort Smith; and Haley and Elise Clemmons of The Woodlands, Texas; one great grandchild: Lennon Woods of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Matt Sanders, Adam Sanders, Jeremy Woods, Josh Woods, Randy Sanders and Elroy Gold, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Walter Thompson.
Family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home.

Richard E. "Dick" Shumate
Richard E. "Dick" Shumate, 63, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, died Sunday, August 1, 2004.
He was a retired Manager and Salesman, he was a Deacon and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Parks cemetery in Charleston, Arkansas under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Jean, (3) daughters Selina Klinghamer of Tulsa, OK, Cindy Shumate of Ozark, AR and Dixie Shumate of Dora, OK, (1) son Roger Shumate of Fort Smith, AR, (1) sister Frances Carson of Charleston, AR, (2) brothers Douglas Omar Shumate of Atlanta, GA and Tag Shumate of Lawton, OK and (6) grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger Shumate, Joshua Alan Shumate, Cody Ryan Shumate, Zachry Shumate, Matthew Klinghamer and Mark Klinghamer.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, August 3, 2004, from 7:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Daniel "Eddie" Way
Daniel "Eddie" Way, 72, of Fort Smith, passed away Monday, August 2, 2004 in his home. He was a member of AARP and the VFW in Alma. He retired from Riverside Furniture. He was in the Army where he served in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart. He loved fishing and gardening . He was an avid sports fan and loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and St. Louis Cardinals.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Jewel; sons, Roy Wilson of Texas and Billy Wilson of Van Buren; daughters, Pamela Wilson of Fort Smith, Rose Ann Bode of California, Janet Cornish of Nebraska and Tammy Angel of Van Buren; brothers, Douglas Way of Arkansas and John Way of Crossett, AR; sisters, Marie Moore of Fort Smith and Jeanette Williams of Fort Smith; 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 8, 2004 in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the U.S. National cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chris Becker, Coty Angel, Chad Wilson, Darrell Gattis, Mike Angel and Billy Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 1274, Fort Smith, AR 72902.

Byron Jones
Byron W. Jones, 88, of Fort Smith, died December 10, 2004 in Fort Smith. He was a former resident of San Diego, CA, a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II and was a retired Carpenter.
He is survived by his daughter Sondra Torres of Fort Smith; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 14th at 4:00 PM in the Edwards Funeral Home and burial will be at a later date in San Diego, CA all under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
