Arkansas Obituary and Death Notice Collection - Lee County - 23

William Henry, Sr.

William Druce Henry, Sr., 76, died Saturday, January 16, in his home.

He was a resident of Lee County and a retired farmer. He also was a

member of the First Christian Church in Marianna and a veteran of the

Navy.

He is survived by his wife, Jane Carter Henry of Marianna; a son,

William D. Henry, Jr. of Marianna; two daughters, Diann Keown of

Marianna and Beverly Brackin of Searcy; one brother, Warren Henry of

Memphis; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Visitation was Sunday, January 17, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 18, at 2 p.m. at

Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with Rev. Rick Needham officiating.

Burial followed at Marianna Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Bryan Henry, Andy Keown, Matt Keown, Clay Henderson,

Bart Carter and Patrick Carter.

Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Veatries Dees

Veatries Joshua Dees, 94, died Thursday, December 31, in California.

She was a resident of California and a member of the St. John M.B.

Church and Lively Stone Church of God.

She is survived by one daughter, Daisy Thomas; two sons, Walter and

Willie Dees; 17 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 39 great-great

grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 9, at 12 noon, at Hightower

and Sons Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at SurForney Young

Cemetery in Brickeys.

Pallbearers were Alvin Dees, Walter Dees, Otha Joshua and Micheal Dees.

Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.

Mary Lee Allen

Mary Lee Walton-Allen, 62, died Thursday, December 31, at Baptist

Memorial Hospital in Forrest City.

She was a resident of Lee County and a member of the New Bethel M.B.

Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Mary E. Robinson and Denise Allen,

both of Memphis and Mary J. Allen of Little Rock; one son, Leon Allen of

Marianna; one brother, Earnest Walton, Sr. of Marianna; two sisters,

Arlena Hall and Jereline Carlock, both of Marianna; two foster

step-sons, Rev. Jackie Green, Jr., and Tyrone Green, both of Little

Rock; 27 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at New Bethel

M.B. Church in Marianna with Rev. Cecil Coleman officiating. Burial

followed at Pilgrim Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Earnest Walton, III, Calvin J. Walton, Sammy Walton,

Earnest Lee Walton, Willie Hall and Larry Hall.

Honorary pallbearers were Coy Lee Hall, Raymond Hall, Dan Carlock, Ray

Carlock, Leon Allen, Jr., Calvin Walton, Frank Walton, David Walton,

Quincey Walton, Allen Carter, Earnest Walton, Jr., Patrick Walton, Eric

Walton, Johnny Robinson and Gary Smith.

Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Sons Funeral Home.

John Woodside

Mr. John H. Woodside, 85, died Friday, September 10, at Baptist Central

Hospital in Memphis.

He was a resident of Forrest City since 1991, moving from Parsons,

Tennessee. He was retired from the Kaddis Company, a member of the

Forrest Hills Methodist Church,was a member of the V.F.W., and received

the Purple Heart while serving in World War II.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Davis.

Graveside services were held Saturday, September 11, at Forrest Park

Cemetery, at 2 p.m.

Arrangements were handled by Stevens Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Forrest Hills Methodist Church.

James Henard, Jr.

James H. Henard, Jr., 61, died Sunday, September 12, in his home.

He was a resident of Marianna and a TV Technician. He also was a member

of Haynes Baptist Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Marie Mitchell of Paragould; one sister,

Mildred Keeling of Marianna; and one brother, Frank Henard of West

Helena.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loriane Y. Henard, a daughter

Darla Jean Henard, a brother, Edward Hollis and a sister, Shirley

Bertrand.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 14, at 11 a.m., at

Oakland Cemetery in Brinkley with Rev. Galene Hendrix officiating.

Pallbearers were Bobby Huddleston, Blyn Edgin, Jimmy McKenzle, David

Sohn, Scott Wilson and Rex Pippenger.

Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in Marianna.

William Bennett

William Harold Bennett, 70, died Sunday, September 12, in his home.

He was a resident of Aubrey and a Equipment Merchant/ agriculture.

He is survived by his wife, Claudine Gannon Bennett of Aubrey; four

sons, Gary Wayne Bennett, William Joel Bennett, Tony Martin Bennett and

Douglas Ray Bennett, all of Aubrey; one brother, Earnest Ray Bennett of

Tucson, AZ; one sister, Louise Bryan of Marvell; seven grandchildren and

one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 14, at 2 p.m., at

Roller-Citizens Chapel in Marianna with Rev. Jerry Hopper officiating.

Burial followed at McCurley Cemetery in Blackton, AR.

Pallbearers were Danny Coleman, Larry Coleman, Jimmy Gannon, Timmy

Gannon, Jeff Davis, Billy Don Hinkle, Gordon Keith Bennett and Charles

Keith Bennett.

Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Griffith, Eldon Taylor, Max Herron,

Buddy Northcutt, Ricky Clifton and Jimmy Oxner.

Arrangements were handled by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent to McCurley Cemetery Fund, c/o Bank of Holly Grove

in Holly Grove.

Lester Hinton

Lester Leroy Hinton, 77, died Friday, September 3, at Crittenden

Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

He was a resident of Marianna and a veteran of the 92nd Division in

WWII, stationed in Germany. During his stay in Chicago, he also was a

minister.

He is survived by two sons, Charles and Calvin Hinton of Chicago; two

daughters, Verma Jean and Mary Hinton of Chicago; one sister and one

brother, Magnolia Coleman of Marianna and Robert Hinton, Sr. of St.

Louis; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jessie Lee Hinton, Maceo

Hinton and Joe Willie Hinton.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, at 1 p.m., at the

Church of the Living God in Marianna with Rev. Cecil Thomas, Jr.

officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Garland Thomas, Gilford Thomas, Stanley Thomas, Jearld

Thomas, Milford Thomas, Kenneth Thomas, Daryl A. Thomas, Johnny Hulum,

Dedrick D. Thomas and Eldridge Swanson.

Honorary pallbearers were all great nephews, Jason Thomas, Shawn Bogan,

Harland Coney, Demetrius Fowler and Adrain Thomas.

Arrangements were handled by Hightower and Son Funeral Home.

Ammon Myer, III

Ammon John (A.J.) Meyer, III, 41, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, August

31.

A.J. was a contract programmer/consultant for Technetics Corporation of

Little Rock, working at some of the largest banks in the country. His

most recent assignments included four years at Harris Bank in Chicago

and the last several months at Bank of Mississippi in Tupelo. Prior to

contract work, he was employed as a programmer for Systematics, Inc.

(now ALLTEL Information Services) of Little Rock.

He loved and was devoted to his family, his work, and life in general.

He had an eye for detail and quality that was exhibited best by his work

and his hobbies, including golf, cooking and woodworking. He was a

member of the Methodist church, a Christian both by profession of faith

and in spirit.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell McCain Meyer; two sons, Job Fant

and Jamie Meyer, both of Little Rock; father and stepmother, Ammon John

and Vicky Meyer of Lebanon, PA; and mother and stepfather, Margie and

George Smith of Bossier City, LA.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 4, at 2 p.m., at Roller

Chenal. Burial followed at Martindale Cemetery in western Pulaski

Cemetery.

Arrangements were handled by Roller-Chenal Funeral Home.

Memorials may be sent in his name to charities or foundations that

support stroke victims.
