Robert Tate
Robert "Bob" W. Tate, 63, of Hot Springs Village passed away Saturday, February 23, 2002 in Hot Springs.
He was born September 11, 1938 in Gillespie, IL to the late William Tate and the late Mary Elizabeth Brown Tate.
Bob graduated with an engineering degree from the University of Illinois. He had a 34 year career with Collins Radio and Rockwell International. In 1990 he was honored as the director of operations for the Navstar GPS Program with Rockwell International. He retired in 1994 as director of the Milstar Programs command and control systems Division of Defense Electronics. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Wright Tate of the home; two sons, Bill Tate and his wife, Yvette, of Orange County, CA and David Tate of Orange County; and one daughter, Susan Tate of Orange County. He is also survived by JoAnn’s five children and their spouses, whom Bob treasured: Billy Adcock and his wife Kazuko, Jack Adcock and his wife Amy, Steven Adcock and his wife Roxanne, Linda Branim and her husband Bill and Kelly Fowler and her husband Chad; three grandsons, Jack Tomotaro Adcock, Luke Branim and Zeke Branim and one granddaughter, Ruth Elizabeth Adcock. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service was held February 26 at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church with a eulogy presented by his tennis teammates.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Bob’s friends and family can appreciated that he loved his tennis and golf.

Henrietta Horky
Henrietta G. "Etta" Horky, 90, of Hot Springs Village passed away Saturday, February 23, 2002 in a Hot Springs hospital.
She was born September 28, 1911 in Chicago, IL to the late Klemment Hegner and the late Emile Sejba Hegner. She was a housewife.
She is survived by one son, John W. Horky and wife Marjorie of Naperville, IL; one daughter, Lorraine A. Havelka and husband Charles of HSV; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Horky; her parents, Klemment Hegner and Emilie Sejba Hegner; four brothers and five sisters.
A private burial is scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

John W. Deever, MD
John W. Deever, MD, 88 of Franklin, IN died Saturday February 16, 2002 at the Franklin United Methodist Home, Franklin, IN.
Born September 28, 1913 in Kansas City, MO. To Otterbein T. Deever and Maude (Wilkin) Deever, who are both deceased. He married Roberta Plank August 22, 1937 in Dayton, OH.
Dr. Deever was a physician who had a private practice in University Heights for over 40 years specializing in children’s health and delivering of babies. He delivered over 6000 babies at St. Francis Hospital. Dr. Deever also served as college doctor at the University of Indianapolis, retiring in 1978 from all three endeavors.
He was a member of University Heights United Methodist Church, Indianapolis, IN; Southport F&AM #270; Murat Shrine and Scottish Rite; American Medical Association; Indiana State Medical Society; and Marion County Medical Society.
He was a cum laude graduate of Otterbein College, Westerville, OHin 1935 with a BS and a graduate of Albany Medical College, Albany, NY in 1939 with a MD degree. He interned at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH. Dr. Deever received the degree of doctor of humane letters from U of I in 1975, and also received the distinguished service award from St. Francis Hospital in 1978.
After retirement Dr. Deever moved to HSV, Arkansas where he had been a resident for over 20 years. He also enjoyed hunting & fishing, playing golf & bowling.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta (Plank) Deever of Franklin, IN; his daughters, Karen Melick of Indianapolis, IN and Andrea Norwood of Indianapolis; his sisters, Kathryn Lott of Iowa and Ruth Moody of Ohio; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, John K. Deever; a grandson, Michael Melick; and a brother. Philip Deever
Memorial services will be Saturday March 2 at 10 a.m. in University Heights Methodist Church, Indianapolis.
David Lee Posey
David Lee Posey, 71 of Hot Springs Village, AR, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2002 in a local hospital.
Posey was born June 23, 1931 in Memphis, TN. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, the Men’s Golf Association and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Posey is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Posey of HSV, his four daughters Joyce Turner Emery, Deborah Heckle Edwards, Pam Alexander of Memphis, TN, Dawn Johnson of HSV, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Visitation was Saturday, October 12, 2002 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Caruth Village Funeral Home. Services will be at a later date at Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis, TN.
Cremation was chosen.

Charles R. Walker
Charles R. Walker died July 27, 2002 at a local hospital in Hot Springs, AR of respiratory failure. The second child to Charles and Florence (John) Walker, he was born on September 20, 1930 in Milwaukee, WI. He married Carollee (Doerr) Walker on July 13, 1980 in Villa Park, IL. She preceded him in death on July 5, 2002.
Chuck graduated from Whitefish Bay High School and graduated from Marquette University in accounting. He was called up for the Berlin Crisis in 1961. Chuck served his country as a Red Arrow Artilleryman in the 32nd Infantry Division Artillery. He was controller of Oshkosh Truck Corporation from 1965 to 1992.
Walker held memberships in the YMCA, National Association of Accountants, Early Bird Kiwanis, Titan Boosters, Financial Executive Institute and was director of the Oshkosh Warriors Drum and Bugle Corps. Chuck enjoyed racquetball, golf, bowling, cards, softball, volleyball, square dancing, singing in the church choir, and praising his Lord.
Survivors include his children, Ken (Cindy) Walker, and Kathy (Steven) Sonn, all of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Stephen Williams of Appleton, WI; Michael, Stephanie, and Tiffany Sonn of Oshkosh; Arja and Brett Walker of New Berlin, WI; stepchildren Kristine Kinsley of Redgranite, WI; KT Kinsey (Diane Poe) of Bessemer, MI; and Karyl (John) Schnyder of Oshkosh; step-grandchildren Cara (Bryan) Larson, Ann and Sara Schnyder all of Oshkosh.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 1, 2002 at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home - Westside (100 Lake Pointe Dr.) Oshkosh, at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Lynn Scovil officiating. Visitation was from 3 p.m. to the time of services. Burial was Friday, August 2, 2002 at 9:30 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, Oshkosh. A memorial has been established.

Irma Watson
Irma L. Frantz Watson, 93, of Hot Springs Village passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2002 in Hot Springs Village.
She was born June 29, 1908 in Royal Center, IN to the late Albert Lee Frantz and the late Sally Maude Trout Frantz. Irma graduated from the University of Chicago with a PhD. She was a retired school teacher and formerly employed by the Chicago School System. She was a member of the Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church of HSV and a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by two sons, Wally Watson of Goldon, Co and Ed Watson of Morristown, NJ; three grandchildren, Debbie Smith, Janet Schwartz, and Anne Watson; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Watson; her parents and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church in HSV. The time and date will be announced. Burial will be in the CedarVale Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church. The donations will be used to purchase books in honor of Irma Watson for the DAR who sponsors the Tamassee School.
