Sylvia Coogan
CLARKSVILLE -Sylvia M. Coogan, 90, of Lamar died Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Countryside Manor in Lamar.
She was a homemaker, and a member of the Assembly of God faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie C. Coogan; a son, Odell Coogan; and her parents, James A. and Cordeila Rowton Howard.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosey B. Lewis of Clarksville; sons, James E. Coogan of Mena and John A. Coogan of Clarksville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. today at Beasley-Wood Chapel in Mena with Bro. Tim Rose officiating. Burial will be at Hilton Cemetery in Boardcamp under the direction of Roller-Cox Funeral Home of Clarksville.
Visitation was Saturday at the funeral home.

Gladys Taylor
Gladys A. Taylor, 89, of Russellville, widow of Carl A. Taylor, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
A daughter of the late Noah Iverson and Melvina Kendrick Coffman, she was born Oct. 14, 1915, near Hector. She was a former housekeeper for Dr. Kenneth Kersh, then president of Arkansas Tech University, and worked for several years as a volunteer nursery worker and then for nine years as a paid nursery worker for First Assembly of God, where she was a member. In 1976, she was awarded the "Mother of the Year" title by the church. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters.
Survivors include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Carl E. and Virginia Taylor of Hot Springs, Charles and Thereasa Taylor of Russellville, the Rev. Thomas and Wilma Joy Taylor of Cayuga, Texas, and Rick Taylor of Russellville; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Beatrice and Rev. Arlice Roberts of Big Lake, Alaska, Linda Adair of Carlisle, and Rebecca and Wayne Baker of Russellville; a brother-in-law, Allen Taylor of Russellville; 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.
Funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Shinn Chapel by the Rev. Larry Moore and the Rev. Thomas Taylor. Burial will be in East Point Cemetery near Russellville by Shinn Funeral Service.
Nephews will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Nursery of First Assembly of God, 124 East G Street, Russellville, Ark. 72801.

Stephen Blackwell
Stephen Mark Blackwell, 49, of Hagarville died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Fort Douglas.
He was born July 31, 1955, at Sandusky, Mich. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Renee Harrison Blackwell; two stepsons, Christopher Harrison of Celania, Texas, and Jason Snider of Austin, Texas; his parents, Wayne Blackwell of Pittsburro, Miss., and Leaor Harris of Lapeer, Mich.; a brother, Paul Blackwell of Fostoria, Mich.; and a sister, Patty Blackwell of Louisiana.
The body was cremated. Arrangements are by Hardwicke Funeral Service.

Corbert Murrell
Corbert F. Murrell, 85, of New Edinburg, died Friday, April 1, 2005, at Bradley County Medical Center at Warren.
He was born Dec. 27, 1919, at Warren, son of the late John Murrell and Fannie Saunders Murrell, an Army veteran of World War II, retired farmer and cattle rancher, and a member of First United Methodist Church at Warren.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ferguson Murrell; two daughters, Dana Moseley and husband, David, of Russellville and Ruth Ann Williams of Conway; three grandchildren, Alana Graham of Cabot, Sarah Mathis of Conway and Ann-Elizabeth Juneau of Little Rock; four great-grandchildren; and a niece.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Frazer's Funeral Home at Warren. Burial will be in Wheeler Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church at Warren or Wheeler Springs Cemetery Association.

Dorothea McElroy
DARDANELLE - Dorothea Mae McElroy, 66, of Danville died Friday, April 1, 2005.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Betty English
DARDANELLE - Betty Jean English, 49, of Russellville died Friday, April 1, 2005.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Cornwell Chapel. Burial will be in Casa Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Cora Bowden
Cora 'Grammy' Bowden, 93, of Continental, Ariz., died March 15, 2005.
She was born Oct. 5, 1911, at Moreland.
Survivors include her children, Jimmy and Virginia, and Janie and Lynn; a sister, OraLee Roberts of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren, Vicki, Brenda, Andy, Norman, Les, Luann and Jared; 19 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service was March 18 at McGee Ranch Cemetery in Arizona.

Billy Henderson
CLARKSVILLE - Billy Joe Ballard Henderson, 43, of Clarksville died Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Clarks-ville.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oark Baptist Church. Burial will be in Oark Cemetery by Roller-Cox Funeral Serivce.
Memorials may be made to the National AIDS Foundation.

Thelma McPherson
Thelma Viola Thornsberry McPherson of Littleton, Mass., formerly of Russellville, died March 25, 2005, at Concord, Mass., one day after her 93rd birthday.
She was born March 24, 1912, at Leslie, Ark., daughter of the late William T. and Annie V. Crow Thornsberry. She was the widow of Nathaniel Leroy McPherson. She was preceded in death by sons Nathaniel Leroy McPherson Jr., Robert McPherson and Jerry Dewanne McPherson.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Mary McPherson of Littleton, Mass., and Charles and Susan McPherson of Golden Valley, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jim Hightower of Oceanside, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Elmo and Dexter Thornsberry of Russellville; and two sisters, Juanita Jennings of Pottsville and Wanda Lee LIndley of Boerne, Texas.
Arrangements were by Healy Funeral Home at Westford, Mass.

Alton Gooch
DANVILLE - Alton Gooch, 73, of Russellville died Wednesday, March 30, 2005.
He was a retired cattle and poultry farmer, and a member of Danville Church of Christ. His family was named 1972 Yell County Farm Family of the Year. He liked to originate new methods to help the cattle and poultry industry.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Christy Gooch; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Jan Gooch of El Dorado, Pat and Sam Gooch of Morrilton, and Chris and September Gooch of Warren, Pa.; a brother, Tommy Gooch of Lone Pine; sisters, Pearl Davis of Danville and Nettie Pitts of Ola; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Danville Church of Christ. Burial will be in Lower Spring Creek Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Robert Keathley, Sam Bonds, Terry Hennessy, Michael Hennessy, Jeremiah Gooch and Tyler Gooch.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
