George W. Scalamera, 78, of Sun City West, a lithographer, died Jan. 17, 2003. Born in Chicago, Ill., he served in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Scalamera is survived by his daughters, Janet, of Sun City West, and Rene; sons, Robert, of Phoenix, and Tom; two sisters, one brother, five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel.

Nina Fay Snyder, 94, of Sun City, died Jan. 22, 2003. Born in Ohio, she is survived by her son, Bob Bishop; daughter, Mary Webb; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Sunland Mortuary.

Lee Edward Strahm, 74, of east Mesa, died Jan. 16, 2003, in Mesa.
Mr. Strahm, a retired used parts manager for Empire Machinery, was born in The Dalles, Ore.
He is survived by his wife Elaine; daughter LaReine Chetcuti; sons Richard and Steven; brother E.R. Strahm and four grandchildren.
Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care handled arrangements.

Herman F. Arbogast, 79, of east Mesa, died Jan. 19, 2003, in Mesa.
Mr. Arbogast, a retired assembler for a tire company, was born in North Adams, Mich.
He is survived by his sons William, Duane, Rodney and James; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix AZ 85014.
Melcher's Mission Chapel handled arrangements.

Lillie M. Frank, 79, of east Mesa, died Jan. 20, 2003, in Mesa.
Mrs. Frank was born in Illinois.
She is survived by his daughters Virginia Baltz, Dorothy McNeilly, Diana Mascale and Barbara Frank; sons Richard and Donald Frank; sister Lorraine Koester; brother Walter Hild; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Marion F. Bailey, 82, of east Mesa, died Jan. 21, 2003, in Phoenix.
Mr. Bailey, a retired Teamster and WWII Army Veteran, was born in Bloomfield, Mo.
He is survived by his wife Ella; daughter Margaret Henry; son Wayne; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruthivon Kight, 85, of east Mesa, died Jan. 21, 2003, in Mesa.
Ms. Kight, a homemaker, was born in Douglas, Ariz.
She is survived by her daughters Deanna Tilbury and Karen Rodcliff; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Apache Junction Mortuary handled arrangements.

Fran Jean Madsen, 69, of east Mesa, died Jan. 21, 2003, in Mesa.
Mrs. Madsen, a bank teller, was born in Kimbailton, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband Fred; daughters Susan Ackerman, Penny Carroll, and Julie Logue; brother Mervin Jorgensen; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lucille E. Boylan, 85, of Sun City West, a bookkeeper, died Jan. 9, 2003. Born in Merna, Ill., she moved to Arizona in 1972. Survivors include her sons, Thomas of Chandler, Ariz., and David; daughters, Mary Ann Hawkswworth of Sun City Grand, Peggy Stimson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Kathleen Ptasnik and Eileen Weirnert; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one brother. Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel.

Anna L. Brow, 88, of Sun City, died Jan. 13, 2002. She moved to Arizona from Massachusetts. Survivors include her daughter, Diane Brown, and one sister. Sunland Mortuary.

Estelle Clark, 82, of Sun City, died Jan. 14, 2003. She moved to Arizona from Colorado and is survived by her husband, John, and one sister. Sunland Mortuary.

Chester (Chet) J. Darling Jr., of Sun City West, died Jan. 10, 2003. He served in the Army and moved to Arizona from Massachusetts. Mr. Darling is survived by his wife, Marion. Sunland Mortuary.

Charles Robert Duckels, 83, of Sun City, died Jan. 8, 2003. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Duckels moved to Arizona from Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughter, Jo Ann Fowler; sons, James and Paul; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sunland Mortuary.

Raymond E. Harr, 84, of Sun City, died Jan. 15, 2003. Survivors include his wife, Rozella. Menke Funeral Home.

Gudron (Betty) King, 87, of Sun City, died Jan. 9, 2003. She moved to Arizona from California. Mrs. King is survived by her husband, Carl; one sister and one brother. Sunland Mortuary.

John Kubiayk, 76, of Sun City West, died Jan. 7, 2003. He served in the Navy during World War II and moved to Arizona from Wisconsin. Sunland Mortuary.

Charles Childs Leighton, 78, of Sun City West, died Jan. 8, 2003. He moved to Arizona from Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Leighton is survived by his wife, Marilyn.
